@@LeafLikeOnATree of course! You are a breath of fresh air to watch. I very much appreciate you sharing your life with us. Keep pushing thru mama. Your doing amazing!🥰
Here’s my 2 cents. Yes on the laundry room rug. Yes on the film on bathroom window. And girl! You look so good. I’m a faithful watcher and you have come so far and have inspired me.
I don’t struggle with perfection anymore, I struggle with laziness since I retired. I used to get a lot of stuff done during commercials and such but I find that I don’t do that as much anymore. I have decided that when watching YT videos, I will let the ads run while I take care of a few things. Good video Shannon…even this old dog can learn new tricks
I know what you mean. I am still working part-time but also "retired". But with no kids home, the motivation (and need) to cook, do mountains of laundry, pick up the house) is much reduced.
It seems like the more time I have the less motivated I am. I'm in the "there's always tomorrow, maybe I'll feel better or maybe I'll have more energy 😌 I'm seriously in a rut.
Wow Shannon! You rocked that reset! I too struggle with perfectionism, chronic inflammation, and my weight, so I appreciate you so much for sharing. It makes me feel like someone understands! I often get "perfection paralysis" - I either can't start if I know it won't be perfect, or it isn't "finished" until it's perfect. It's hard but I'm working on letting go of that and embracing "better is good." Your videos always lift my spirits and I know I laughed out loud at least twice during this one. You have a gift and I am so glad I discovered your channel a long time ago. Have a great week friend! 💜❤️💜❤️
You just motivated me to pause your video and give my bedroom 10 minutes and what a sense of accomplishment it is! I feel so much better and actually got a lot done in such a short amount of time, and that includes taking a minute to sit down. You are so genuine and real in your videos. I hope you realize what a great person you are and how much your hard work and honesty helps others. Thank you for sharing the tough stuff!
The rug looks nice in the laundry room, if it feels too busy, it could also look nice in front of your kitchen sink! Yes, to a wide long runner rug in the entryway! Rug tape works great to hold down edges. Shannon, I am so happy to see you whenever you post. I have major hang ups about keeping a tidy house while living with chronic illness. I absolutely needed to hear everything you said today. Thank you for your wise counsel and inspiration. You are so relatable to me, and I so appreciate you.
I completely agree. Today's topics were on point in my current situation, dealing with life and chronic illness. Such an inspiring video/podcast. I truly enjoy how Shannon lays out her videos. I love to watch cleaning, decluttering and organizing videos, but I want to hear about real life issues that may be affecting so many of the viewers, not loud annoying music.. this video is truly inspiring to me and so appreciated! My thoughts exactly on the rugs. I would have to have a larger/ wider rug in the entryway. And great idea on putting the rug in front of the kitchen sink. Rug grippers or rug tape is a must, especially on ceramic floors or if they curl up.
Shannon you are a person to look up to. 💜You and your hubby run a home with happy children and that’s a success in my book. Thank you for discussing perfectionism. I just recently learned that is my issue as well. It kinda blew my mind. I was an over achiever as a child and now see how that translates into my adulthood. I struggle with my weight from PCOS and now the onset of peri menopause 😩 Thanks for being so relatable and real. We appreciate you!!💜💜💜
I have one of those, i got mine from Aldi (Australia) It has a draw as well so you can put wallet and sunglasses in. Shut the draw, nice and tidy and no visual clutter.
I think I’m a perfectionist when it comes to others cleaning. It drove me nuts when you didn’t move the loveseat. 😂 love your candidness. Your videos are great. Thanks. ❤ you did an amazing job on the house. Beautiful!
Haha, I’m just helping you let go of that perfectionism for others 😜. In reality I was scared to move anymore furniture. I had enough treasure hunts for one day 😂
Dear Shannon, as a fellow perfectionist, I know the struggle very well! One thing I noticed is that what kept me from starting a task was the black and white thinking, also called the all or nothing approach, meaning if the task seemed too big or too difficult to finish all at once, I wouldn't even start. So breaking a task up into smaller pieces, sometimes so tiny that it almost feels ridiculous is helping a lot, because starting becomes less daunting and finishing each small thing gives you a little boost of accomplishment which is very motivating. And once it gets too much you can simply stop and continue another time. Also the mantras "done is better than perfect" and "now that I don't have to be perfect, I can be good" have opened my eyes to a different reality and made it easier to be kinder to myself. Hope this helps a little. Lots of love!
1) your the only other person that I know other than myself who does 20 min cleaning segments. I like this because you can get a little more done than 15 min, and if need be it’s easy to convince yourself to push for the half hour or 10 more min cause your more than halfway there. 2) I’m not all or nothing but I get discouraged too and I think Cass’ wise words from her clutterbug channel that you can start again “right now” would be amazing help for your goals regarding food or other habits you want to add or change. Also I’m hearing way more results on Noom! I think you would like Erica Lucas who is goal setting for a healthier her but she is so gracious with herself on those things. Highly recommend both channels :)
You have nothing to beat yourself up for! Your house looks great and you sounded so healthy and positive! Not just your words but your tone even sounded so healthier and more positive! You are hitting this new year running! Rewatch this video of your own when you hit a hard day, inspiring!
I have chronic inflammation also due to several medical conditions and I appreciate you bringing light to the struggle of accomplishing every day tasks at times. It has become quite the mental and physical challenge for me to let go of my old expectations of myself and my home and adapt to basically a whole new reality of how much my body can take. I think too when you are younger like you are and I am people don’t quite understand it the same as if they see someone older who struggles. It has taken me many months to try to come up with a routine and a schedule of sorts to be able to maintain my home while still understanding I have to work around my health issues. It’s not foolproof, but it works for me and I am learning that it’s good enough. Thank you for making me feel less alone!
Started weight watchers also but I'm struggling already. 😢 Watching this made realize it's my perfectionism that's holding me back. Thank you for opening my eyes to this!!!
I found Diane In Denmark through watching FlyLady videos. I like her idea of PUPA. Pick Up and Put Away. Putting things away when I am done with them is helping keep my house tidy. I wonder if that might help keep things off your floor and away from under furniture. Something the whole family can help with. (It’s also fun to say, PUPA “poopah”) 😂
Well, here I go again......striving for perfection. I'm a 5 out of 5 on the list of traits for a perfectionist. My husband was in the other room and heard you listing the traits. He commented after every one "that's you" or "that sounds just like you Barbie". I know I'm picky, but I never thought of myself as a perfectionist. Every item describes me or how I handle things exactly. It really made me realize why I do the things I do sometimes. I have a quilt that has been setting here for over 2 months that I have been procrastinating finishing it. I thought maybe I was just tired of quilting, but after hearing the descriptions of a perfectionist, I realized that I'm not finishing it because I know it's not perfect. I really enjoy your videos and how you show real life! God Bless you and your family.
Shannon you are such a huge blessing! Thank you for the reminder about not focusing on perfection; that is A HUGE barrier for me. My husband is currently in fire fighter school and I’m feeling overwhelmed at home/working full time. Lately I’ve been telling myself I’m a failure. Need to cut out that negative self talk and be kind. Thank you for being so real with all of us 💗
I pray that with videos two weeks in a row that this means you're doing well. You inspire people who have similar issues that there is always light even in the darkness of despair!!! Keep doing what you do. You're amazing!
Your talking real life while cleaning is so refreshing. Your topics today really inspired me. I'm like you were. I need to get to that big job....when I have enough "time and energy " which never happens on the same day. Very good content today! Keep trudging along. I can already see a difference in your home from when I started watching you. I noticed it was much cleaner and picked up than some previous videos. You're doing a fabulous job maintaining control and are an inspiration to me. God bless you all 🙏
So good to see you smiling & looking & feeling better! You made great progress on your home! I agree that the key is NOT doing it all one day or even in one session. Breaking stuff up into smaller units helps me a bunch. Also, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes a few months ago. I started keto & have lost 14 pounds without really trying, & I’ve never been hungry! You can get your diabetes under control, & you must! One of my former students, a young man in his 40s, has had multiple amputations bc of his diabetes, so I’m motivated to be on the straight & narrow!
What you said about perfectionism really resonated with me today. I've been on a journey of recovery from anxiety and depression for several years and with medication and therapy I'm much better now. However perfectionism rears its ugly head on occasion and your reminder of comparison is the stealer of joy really made me think. I've spent so much of my life comparing myself to others and feeling like I never was smart enough, pretty enough, good enough. Now I know I am good enough but your positivity and reminders sure do help. I have learned that learning a skill in one area in life makes it easier to translate that skill to other areas. You found a way to deal with perfectionism in your housework and now you have the skills needed to deal with your health. I hope you have a great day! You made my day better thank you!
Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us. Please be encouraged… yes, you have a fighting chance against the diagnosis. You are on the right track. God bless you, Shannon 🙏🏻
You are an amazing person. Your kids aren’t going to remember the dirty house. They are going to remember how awesome their mom is & how much she did for us!
This was a great video! The importance of what you are sharing is immeasurable!! Thank you for being honest and there, conveying hope!!! I appreciate you and all that you do. I have mostly stopped beating myself up because of you and your content. Thanks again ✌🏼💛👩🌾🏡
PawPaw, I love the bonus videos but honestly, I think people watch when they can so just do what is good for you and don't change. Great videos ❤ thank you.
I like the rug in the laundry room! Of course anywhere you put it, you will have to clean it, but the front door is so high traffic, it might be best to not have one there. You got a lot accomplished, especially if you went to church too. I find when I center myself in the mornings with God, my day goes much better. I see the difference on the days I don’t do it! Keep up the good work!
I just recently found your channel and I enjoy your content because your house isn’t perfect! I like to watch normal, everyday people living normal, everyday life. I also love the rug and it being in your laundry room 😊
I really like these videos. I struggle so much with housework since we moved house - it's always a mess, but I work on it when I can. One thing that I've learned through my own health journey is how many foods can cause inflammation..processed meats, processed grains like bread, and refined sugar etc. Honestly it sounds really annoying when people say "eat healthy!!!" but I kinda did this really slowly over time and I noticed an incredible difference to my health. I lost weight and I no longer get inflammation..but I have to watch what I eat, sometimes it will flare up if I am not careful. The struggle is so real, and feeling unwell, having gut health issues and being in pain really just made me depressed all the time. No one should feel like that.
Girl I'm so happy for you. I've been through this too. Weight-loss tips: 1. Focus on 70-80% "healthy" meals. No perfectionism! 2. Watch snacking, soft drinks and junk food. Limit this as much as you reasonably can or find healthier alternatives. 3. It's mostly diet not exercise. And don't be picky with exercise. Do what you are drawn to. Even 20m of cleaning is a decent amount of movement. If you do that x3 a week that's more movement than I do and I'm at a normal BMI. Good luck
I just love watching your reset videos. I am a lifelong perfectionist. It is exhausting, and I feel defeated every time I clean. Then when I finally get things the way I think they should be, I get annoyed when someone messes it up. Ugh. Thanks for sharing your struggles with us, and giving us helpful ways to reset our thinking.
Oh! Yes! I hope you got that “rainbow” film! My daughter got one and it is soooo nice. When the sun shines on it it looks so beautiful. And it’s only on the morning sun which is extra nice
I love your channel….. I’m on Noom and have managed to keep my weight off. I still have a ways to go, but like you, I greatly appreciate encouragement and accountability. You go girl….
You’re not alone. I find doing laundry relaxing. But then I also think I’m a weirdo because there are times I like washing dishes. Being empty nesters, it doesn’t take long to do dishes.
Just wanted to let you know your doing a honest thing here on your channel. I am encouraged by you, I am dealing with the same struggles with food and its not easy. I was a single parent of 3, and was told many shameful things but they are all adults now and doing their best. I am so glad you always show God acknowledgement in your videos. I binge watch your videos yesterday as I have been dealing with Pharaoh's at work. You brought smile to my day.
I'm exactly the same! I let my house go for so long because I couldn't finish a job perfectly, like I wanted. Now, I give myself 10 minutes on a task. I take longer if I want, but it takes the pressure off me, and I don't get overwhelmed. I also have a problem with inflammation. I cut out tomatoes, which helped tremendously! I still have spaghetti or pizza once in awhile, but it doesn't really cause any problems. You did a GREAT JOB!!! See you next time!
I recently discovered your channel and I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. Binge watching! Loved the laundry room makeover video. Really like the cute little lamp you have on the shelf. Never thought a laundry room could be “cozy”! ❤
I love watching your videos so much! I too suffer with chronic fatigue and pain and I struggle with my weight. I too have good and bad days and I struggle to not overdo it on my good days...because over doing it knocks me out for days after. I just so appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. I send you so many blessings and best wishes. Thank you for putting this all out there. You are amazing and beautiful!
Shannon. I to suffer from chronic inflammation plus pain. I have to do a little bit of cleaning then take a break. Sometimes it takes me all day just to get one task done. There is nothing I can take for any of it because of all my allergies. So girl I know how you feel. Just do what ya can. I am the same way about perfectionism but have slowly learned that I can't do all the major cleaning like I use too. If it wasn't for my 14 year old helping me grocery shop I wouldn't be able to do it hardly. He also helps with moving furniture around for me when I am cleaning. He has been helping do all of that since he was 5years old. I really appreciate him helping me.
You can re-use those swiffers or dupes for *ever* and *ever* just keep your vacuum handy. Don't let stuff get too too dusty, dust with them, vacuum it out and continue to use it. It's how we get through our cleaning day (one day in the week we deep clean the entire house) without having to exchange them every time.
I think you did a fantastic job!! Good luck on WW! I too was successful years ago when I did WW - you can do it because you have the right motivation…your kids/family❤️
You cleaned a lot. Im okay doing a little 15 min here and there because if I don't it's a lot longer and bigger job if I wait. Fly Lady helped me see zones and what needs to be done in each zone. I decided the top priorities in the zone and work to keep that clean so I'm happy. Kids make clutter, kids move out and you see your clutter. Dust never goes away. I clean my house and that makes me happy. Laundry is your favorite cuz the machines cleans while you do something else. An invisible task till you have to fold and put away!! Be blessed and eat an apple.😁
Shannon, I can certainly relate to your Christmas decorating struggles! I too have found help using the Flylady system (not all but some sure do consistently work for me) in managing my household responsibilities throughout each day but I have also reaped benefits from the “Cruising Through the Holidays” section specifically for Christmas 🎄🥰
Shannon, you look great, sound great, and did an awesome job on the house. I am glad you are feeling better and more positive! Love your inspiring videos!!
Its probably weather related, but Im in Australia and I've only ever owned a dryer when living in an upstairs apartment with 2 pre- school aged kids. Thankfully our place now has a slow combustion heater, so winter washing gets hung on coathangers in the doorway arch near the fireplace, and clothing racks. Summer washing is hung outside. Im so glad you have the space to have a dryer, so youre not always having to hang up and take down loads to dry. Hopefully electricity is cheaper in the States than here.
When you mentioned perfectionism about weight loss it really hit me that’s why I’ve struggled so much. I do really well and then mess up once and struggle to get back because it feels like failure and it follows me for a while instead of saying- it’s ok, you had a set back but let’s keep going.
Progress not perfection! I learned that from Steph on the Secret Slob. I struggle with perfectionism too. Now I have been doing the zone cleaning from Fly Lady and it has really helped me keep the house clean without thinking the whole house has to be cleaned at once. You are doing great!
Shannon, I’m impressed by the state of your house. You’ve been good at maintaining. I still Love the wall in your laundryroom. I’ve been cleaning 15 minutes a day during january, when the time is up you stop no matter what. I do like to watch youtube and fold laundry at the same time.
I just found your videos and I’ve been binge watching your videos! ❤ I’ve told sister and she’s been watching your videos too. You are so inspiring. Thank you
I think the new rug looks great in the laundry room. I like your idea of doing 15 minute cleanups, I can get so much done and usually even do more because it makes me satisfied. great video as usual! have a great week and cant wait for your next video❤
I definitely struggle with perfectionism. I've gotten better since having kids but I still procrastinate things till I can get them done perfectly. So thank you for the reminder that I can break it up into smaller tasks and get it done a little at a time. I enjoyed your video.
You have a lovely home. It’s good to give it the love and attention like you did in this video. I love gifting myself a clean house! Give yourself a pat on the back!
I'm a new subscriber and wanted to say Thank You! Thank you for being a REAL person who shows what a real home looks like. Thank you for being so honest and vulnerable about your personal struggles. Being someone who also struggles with inflammation (mine is from and auto immune condition), weight gain, chronic pain & fatigue, and loss of energy, I UNDERSTAND. Girl, it is HARD, especially for those of us who have always had unrealistic expectations of ourselves to be "perfect"... in our homes, bodies and life in general. Life can throw us a curve ball, but as long as we can adapt and persevere, we can do hard things.
Great job on the cleaning and organizing and doing smaller tasks instead of needing to do everything at once. I like how you reason and discuss your mindset. I have struggled with my weight, but have come to the realization that it has to be a priority and that it takes small changes that eventually become the norm. I’ve lost 45 and have more to go! There is no drug that can do this for us. Keep working at it and no one can do it perfect every day. Small changes and eating more vegetables and lean protein is the key. Best of luck.
I don't think I struggle with perfect..... But I am an over thinker. But have always half assed everything so the perfect stuff isn't the goal. I think my failure has gotten to me in the past. Like a fear of failure or knowing that I tend to screw up a lot of crap or things go wrong so often for me. Murphy's law type stuff. Eventually that gets to me. But I get back on it. And eventually laugh stuff off again. Thank God for the sense of humor he gave me.
I got through 5 loads of washing. There is no dirty clothes, linens or anything in this house. However, now I need to put all this washing away 😅. Thanks for keeping me company.
Maybe check habitat for humanity or a place like that for a vanity. You could always paint or DIY it to meet your needs aesthetic wise. Measure before you go so you know what to look out for.

A HUGE YES on the prism plastic stuff on your bathroom window!!!
I love how funny and real you are! You are stunning ❤️ and I love seeing your hubby working with you pitching in as well,a blessing.
ILOVE THAT YOU'RE FEELING BETTER AND POSTING MORE OFTEN!! yOU ARE SUCH A POSITIVE PERSON AND I ? WE ALL ADORE YOU!!!
LOVE THE ENDING!!! You put a huge smile on my face 😆😆😆😆😆. You have a beautiful home.
I enjoy cleaning "with" you and listening to you chat! (I'm one of those who prefer chatting over music ;) ). Thank you for this!
I just love how honest and real you truly are!
Heh! Your fellow holding up the couch and picking the hard to get ground in dirt off - that's a good team right there 😊
Beautifully organized kitchen and pantry! This is the year I am getting rid of fantasy-self clothes and organizing my closet for the last time!
Shannon, thank you for being so real!!
That was so satisfying to watch when you guys lifted the couch up.😂😊 you have a beautiful home.
You’re a rockstar! And I love your shirt! Hail, hail Lion of Judah!
You were so full of gems today. I love your videos! Your stance on perfectionism was eye opening!
Great job girl! You always inspire me to do something no matter how little it may seem.
Weight-loss tips:
Good luck
I love your laundry room! What a nice place to do a necessary chore!
I just love watching your reset videos. I am a lifelong perfectionist. It is exhausting, and I feel defeated every time I clean. Then when I finally get things the way I think they should be, I get annoyed when someone messes it up. Ugh.
Thanks for sharing your struggles with us, and giving us helpful ways to
reset our thinking.
Oh! Yes! I hope you got that “rainbow” film! My daughter got one and it is soooo nice. When the sun shines on it it looks so beautiful. And it’s only on the morning sun which is extra nice
Thank you for the eye opener regarding perfectionism! Love watching and listening to you❤
You make me smile, you are the best Lady ever!
You have a beautiful voice and it relaxes me
I love your channel….. I’m on Noom and have managed to keep my weight off. I still have a ways to go, but like you, I greatly appreciate encouragement and accountability. You go girl….
SO REALLY CURIOUS ON THE BATHROOM WINDOW UPDATE. My daughter bought some they are the best!!
I love your channel and how real you are. Thanks for sharing your life with us. God bless x
Hey I just wanted to tell you that I love watching you
Thank you for the peace you bring to me xx
Well done Shannon. You did a lot in this video. Keep up the good thoughts and the great work to keep the house tidy!
Ooooo temptation stacking. I haven't heard it called that but I do that all the time. 🙂 Works great for my brain.
I recently discovered your channel and I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. Binge watching! Loved the laundry room makeover video. Really like the cute little lamp you have on the shelf. Never thought a laundry room could be “cozy”! ❤
Hello from Tampa! I JUST started watching you today. Thank you for keeping it real.
Great video. You can tell how much better you are doing. The house is looking great.
You have me intrigued with that mop vacuum!
This was a great video and messages today.
I like that rug in the laundry room and maybe just a little rug in front of the door.
I love your videos I like how you make the kid do chores too Good example this is real life Doing housework great job mom and dad❤❤
I love the rug in the laundry room, looks great!
i like the rug in the entry way for dirty feet better then in the laundry room. Again thank you so much for sharing!
I’m with you Shannon - sometimes rugs can be just too busy. I think your entry way would benefit from a longer runner, but in a solid colour.
Anything under furniture can be tossed for the most part I think. Love the concept of 1 hour better. Your spaces looked great after your resets.
I like the carpet in the laundry room.
I got through 5 loads of washing. There is no dirty clothes, linens or anything in this house. However, now I need to put all this washing away 😅. Thanks for keeping me company.
I’m sending you a virtual high five for that one! That’s a lot! ✋🏻
Your perfectionism thoughts are SO good!
Maybe check habitat for humanity or a place like that for a vanity. You could always paint or DIY it to meet your needs aesthetic wise. Measure before you go so you know what to look out for.
I just love "your sounds of Shannon"!!! I do the same thing, though I talk too. Especially if my Bunny and pigeon are around me lol.
