@@icecreamguy553 "Dark Horse" in American slang means someone who is in a competition but is unlikely to win that competition. It comes up a lot in American politics, but probably was originally used in horse racing, hence "dark horse."
The photo: three buttons on a suit's sleeve refers back to medieval times when sleeves used to be broad (kinda like modern day flared trousers / bell-bottomed jeans) and the buttons gave you the option to let the material out or keep it tight to the forearm. Fabi's suit sleeve also has slashed red lining, again a medievel feature, suggesting that what Fabi has up his sleeve is fire and blood; Fabi, then, is clearly a Targaryean, so expect to see a hyper-accelerated dragon in future games. Being able to alter the fit along the arm allows the possibility to wear bangles , bracelets, or other arm jewellery, or maybe Fabi needs to loosen his arm-wear as at some point he expects his forearms to swell with power, like Popeye after eating his spinach. There is also a 3 Button Rule when it comes to suits ("Sometimes, always, never," i.e. sometimes fasten the top button, always fasten the 2nd, never fasten the 3rd) but i think it refers to the buttons along the front, not the sleeves. Referring back to medieval fashion is clearly Fabi's way of refuting his reputation as just an engine-line memorizer; his clothing choice suggests he wants to go back to old-fashioned, human-style chess, the sort Fischer championed.
You are right Gambit135. My uncle's favorite chess move is Knee bumps table! Also, I have hit a lazy pop fly to center field 100 times and my grandmother has never been able to make that catch! LOL.
I appreciate how often he asks his viewers to find the winning move, then first shows the one I chose only to say "of course, this is losing on the spot".
In what Universe a 2632 plays in the candidates while players like Abdesattarov, So, Giri, Aronian, Mamedyarov, Radjabov, Gritschuk, Dubov, Rapport, MVL, Duda, Wei Yi... Are left out? Candidates should be at least made of 16 players, and that a win should three time the points a draw bring, not just the double.
Caruana would be the World Champion at this time if during his prime we did not have a Magnus. He really have tu be willing to walk calmy to get the number of points.
It would have been fun if Fabiano played the wing gambit in Candidates. Most likely he would have had to fight like hell to hold a draw even against Abasov but still, fun. Or I guess in that move order it has a different name. Lichess calls in Portsmouth gambit.
When knight to H4 happen, why not Black Knight to e4 and if knight taken with Pawn then white knight can be taken with queen and is there a trap that queen goes ?
5-1 score against Firouzja is only possible if you are a World Champion class of a player, and even then it feels unreal. Impressive score by Caruana there.
Two nice guys playing each other. No matter who loses its always a sad sight. Especially how it went. Almost equal all the way except for 2 moments. One that a pawn not captured by Nijat and then the final blunder.
Nijat stopped playing simple chess, looks like he was expecting more than just a draw from this game on his part. Should've just taken back his pawn the first time and not give Fabi play on both sides. Secondly, he shouldn't have taken the Knight and, again, given Fabi's pieces play from both sides. The Queen moved from the Kingside to the Queenside and still kept attacking the Kingside where his King was naked. Yes, I know, I'd never make it as far as him against Fabi, but I can still play chess and criticize what I see as elementary mistakes
By playing Amazing chess in the world cup... He came in 4th and he drew 2 classical games against Fabi and lost in Armageddon.. Magnus deciding not to play made him qualify
That would be the world cup performance, easiest route. you only have to be the best in your country, and compete cup-style against over 200 players with similar or better qualifications and be among the top 3 finishers. He beat Gujrathi, Giri and Svidler there, so he's not a bad player. But in this tournament he may well be the one who decides the winner. By playing extremely well against some of the favorites he might upset the order of the final table.
@agadmator You are now legally and morally required to show today's game in the ladies section. You know exactly which one I am talking about too. #1857vibes
Abasov tried to be cute by not capturing pawn on A5 when he simply could do so and instead went on a multi move roundabout battle to capture it, resulting in blundering away the game.

That really cracked me up😀
Illuminati confirmed haha

16:40 thing about the photo is that fabi seems very relax, feeling no pressure whatsoever. Just casually playing
And it was in this position, upon noticing the 3rd button on Fabi's sleeve, that Agadmator predicted the winning the the Candidate's Tournament.
Fabi's Rook to F-2 to initiate that sequence is just brilliant

Its customary not to button all the buttons on a jacket sleeve, you leave one undone. Particularly when its tailored.
Silly goose, as Agad said, it was a secret message by Fabi to Nepo. Subliminal messaging 😉
