Vidit is a good player but he lacks composure and killer instinct which Pragg and Gukesh seems to have..He is very very emotional player.. Whenever he loses advantage his emotion gets better of him everytime.
Nepo got a little lucky this round, but he is such a beast in the candidates. I mean, he's never not been winning or tied for winning in his entire candidates career. He is such a talented defender and attacker, it's really a joy to see him play. Thanks for the breakdown Agadmator!
I disagree that Nepo got lucky. Similar things happen far too often when his opponents are under time pressure that it must be because of his strategic use of time, not luck.
Great game by both players. Really enjoyed that one. The way Nepo kept his cool against Vidit's pressure was amazing. Vidit was against Nepo and time pressure. Hard to find best moves under those conditions.
Thank you Agad. Watched the game off Lichess. Kinda followed near the end but definitely did not see the why of the "only move that does not lose the game" that Vidit missed. Perhaps he was upset by that. Still in the picture, in the beginning, and in the video in the end Vidit regards Nepo with respect, someone he can learn from and so its not too bad. Shaking his head in the end as if to say "cant do this" i am sure if he had the time he would have found the right move. Also it seems possible what the origin of the famous Magnus effect is, as "young" Magnus had a very hard time beating Nepo and eventually becoming world champion. Certainly upsetting, those moments when you cant tell u have an advantage. Anyway yes, its true anything can still happen. I think Nepo might not be too happy with settling for draws as we near the end of the bouts, still, could he have pushed for wins in the earlier games? It is certainly exciting for chess, a tight race. May the best player win. PS: Rumor: the only way Magnus will come back for the title, is if Nepo wins it.
Pragg was not disappointed this much because he was not winning way back in his gane with hikaru..but definitely vidit knew he was winning some where and he missed it
All Indian players are going to crumble under pressure. Nothing is wrong with their game, they just lack experience at this level and will certainly do well in coming years.
I don't know man, it seemed to me that Nepo was just very much NOT satisfied with his own game. He kept shaking his head and making faces when he was waiting to sign the scoresheet. Right after the game when Vidit did show him h5 move Nepo told him "I misplayed it terribly". I mean he knew that he could have lost this game. Nepo didn't show it while playing of course, but after Vidit left the table it just came out pouring.
I was explaining to my roommate who doesn’t play chess that if Vidit had won here against the front runner, he would have even had chances at potentially winning the tournament (with a lot of luck). It makes sense that he was so emotional, as a loss here means his chances are now 0.
@@DavenportCarlo At least I didn't make a fake YT acct and use THAT to respond to my own comment (like tons of people do). So, what's your problem with me having a little fun making a joke?
Even more powerful than the h5 pawn, was Knight d6 when the rook was guarding the d file. It would have forced a knight - bishop trade as the rook was hanging. Instead Vidit moved the rook to e1, a move that I can not comprehend but three minutes is three minutes and my brain was probably over the boiling point with only that time left and I would have probably made some other mistake. Nepo dodged every attack from Vidit and it could still have been a draw even with Vidit rook wreaking havoc behind enemy lines...
I saw that H5-6 move for Vidit, as winning the game, but very risky, as usual Adag explains it so well that it almost convinces me that there is nothing more to be done at this point, problem is a number of computer moves in the making that can quite be missed. Beautiful game by both I will certainly rewatch over and over.
It is hard sometimes. You work for it, you deserve to win, you get so close you can feel you are in the right path, but then your opponent gets lucky a few times, manages to survive and then you blow it up and lose. Unfortunately, not only does this happen in sport, but in life over and over. If you don't seize your opportunities and finish the job when you have the chance you will pay the price.
This game reminded of some of the games between Kramnik-Kasparov in their Championship Match where the Queens were off the board and square control was of prime importance. Nepo is now like Alekhine in that, as Alekhine once said, you have to beat me in the opening, then the middlegame and then the ending. He seems to rise up to time pressure better than others in Classical play.
23:54 put yourself into Vidit's shoes, but please not in Alireza's ones, otherwise you will be eliminated from the championship for making too much of noise😅
I can sit through levy blitz through most games but your reviews are always the best, showing the ideas behind every move and looking at different variations in the position much love big man you're bringing chess to the people
I never just look to win with the light pieces and everyone should look to win with both colors because with good preparation it can be done and having dark pieces got a disadvantage
Hi Antonio, I am watching the match Nepo vs visit round 11 but there's no sound. You might have accidentally mute it.Cheers Jean-marie from Perth in Western Australia
I watched the livestream from @9:00 on. I can't calculate at all, but intuitively I felt that it would be totally hopeless for White to attempt to defend the A and B files. I sensed such an attempt would either result in a pawn queening or the sacrifice of a piece to stop it. I was all for White going for H5 -- not because I I could calculate that this would succeed, but because I was so convinced that defending the A and B files was utterly hopeless. I guess my intuition was superior to Vidit's calculation!

I personally always hate the lines but today you didn't ponder or deviate too much. It was a long video but really good and understandable options/side lines.
Nepo is the absolute Boogeyman. If he could just slow down a little and not make blunders like getting his bishop trapped , blunders below 2000 people do , he could just crush everyone. A modern-day Ivanchuk if you will.
If Ian wins, it would be his third consecutive Candidates victory. So far he is showing why he is the odds-on favourite. And I'm pretty sure that with all that experience to back him up, he would make no mistake in unseating Ding from the Wooden Throne.
What a game - and Agad, please don't listen to anyone who says "we don't want to follow complicated lines or have long videos." The beauty of chess is so often what was possible on the board, rather than what actually happened. And no one else explains so clearly to amateur players what might have happened and what top grandmaster can see
Might be harsh to say, but Nepo plays the chess villain role pretty well. Not that he's mean or anything but he's not the most personable chap. A fierce competitor who regularly brutalises even the best players out there. So dominate at these candidate tournaments.
Thriller of a game, in the endgame part at least. After the game Vidit did show Nepo the h5 move (after Rb3), he probably found it at some point after it was no longer an idea. And Nepo said "I misplayed it terribly". That was all their interaction though, not much of an analysis. Nepo was obviously not satisfied with his game. Ir was rather clear while he was waiting to sign the scoresheets.

I understand this isn’t quite the connotative notion of ‘cheating’, but denotatively, I’m not wrong.

Part3 - Note on axis Vs allies in chess:
They're not just good Vs bad. They're also axis of evil Vs allies of evil.
They're both evil but in different ways. I'm saying that even though the axis of evil is evil, they're still more so the good guys compared to the allies of evil - whom I consider the bad guys.
We may disagree on who the good Vs bad guys are, but I think we'll agree on axis Vs allies.
Axis of Evil is the more conventional, obvious or well-known evil.
Allies of Evil is the unconventional or inconspicuous evil.
- Like tax collector Vs Pharisee.
- Criminal Vs War criminal.
- Engine cheating Vs bullying cheating.

Part4 - Note re Vlad:
I view Vlad's accusation of Hans similar to Bobby's accusation of Anatoly Karpov & Wesley's wanting Sergey to not be in the 2022 candidates - it's a good guy fighting another good guy. The real bad guy in each respective case is Magnus, Garry & (either Magnus again or Hikaru). Tsk tsk. It's sad Vlad/Bobby/Wesley didn't realise that Magnus/Garry/Magnus is far more evil than Hans/Anatoly/Hans. Wait, I think Bobby did. Not sure. I think Bobby hated Garry more than Anatoly, but maybe not by much more.

Part5 - More notes:
5.1
Wesley So, Bobby Fischer & Hans Niemann have NEVER done ANY of the ff evil things in chess as adults.
Magnus Carlsen, Garry Kasparov & Hikaru Nakamura HAVE done EACH of the ff evil things in chess as adults.
Evil:
-Cheating
-Baseless accusations
-Discrimination (eg by cheating or baselessly accusing people mainly of a certain ethnicity or citizenship)
-Treason
Re treason:
- Magnus betrayed fellow Scandinavian-descent Hans by baselessly accusing Hans
- Hikaru betrayed fellow American Hans by baselessly accusing Hans.
- Garry betrayed 2 fellow Jews Judit Polgar & Alexei Shirov by cheating them.

9LX players are more honest than chess players.
- Wesley So, not Fabiano Caruana, is the 3rd highest peak fide classical rated honest player. Fabi is the highest.
- Top 3 are Fabi, the late Arianne Caoili's spouse Levon, Wesley - all American. Also the 0th & 1st classical WFRCCs (resp Bobby & Wesley) are American.
- Also, Hans & Wesley consider Bobby greatest while Magnus & Hikaru consider Garry greatest. What a coincidence! God bless America! SayNoTo2900!
- Magnus hates MVL, the top rated honest player in rapid chess1 & blitz chess1 hence why Magnus cheated Alireza in 2019 blitz WCC:

(Bobby Fischer would've been 2900.)
My rating would be at least 2900, which is a lot higher than Kasparov’s. But in the end, that’s not
important Pablo because the point is, I got my rating honestly. All my games are real. I’ve never even pre-arranged a draw. They have nothing on me. That’s why they hate me so damn much - because I’m clean. Kasparov got his fantastic rating by pre-arranging almost all of his games. He’s a crook on a gigantic scale. You know, Eugene (Torre) could have the highest rating in the
world too if he would pre-arrange all his games.
- ( Actually, this further convinces me Bobby would like nephew Wesley & hate Magnus because Wesley = Eugene Torre, top Philippine-born player & Magnus = Garry, top player. As described in XNHWbgAsZnA or 2d427ys5FrY )

Wesley So on 2018Jun08:
Thank you all for your encouragement and support. I am moving into a new area of my chess development working to win the game instead of taking a draw which I can do easily. With that attitude there will be bad days but that is life. Some players think exchanging a piece and then taking a prearranged draw on move 17 is okay but I don't want to be like them. I fought Fabi as hard as I could and I made a simple miscalculation. I am proud of the choice I made to fight. For everyone's benefit let me be clear that I have never taken a prearranged draw, I never will, and I have never played a bad game to help a friend. My bad games are a result of miscalculation under pressure. There are no free gifts in chess on this level (unless you are from certain countries that everyone knows about). You fight or you die. You have all been great in supporting me. Thank you. Moving on to the next fight.

Saw this game live... what a nail-biter!
Just an incredible performance, match of the tournament for sure.
Vidit is a good player but he lacks composure and killer instinct which Pragg and Gukesh seems to have..He is very very emotional player.. Whenever he loses advantage his emotion gets better of him everytime.
This tournament would've been much better without emotional players
*cough* Alireza *cough*
Even Nepo is emotional .Remember the finals after He lost to ding .He was shaking and almost cried ..
Poor Vidit. He is a true gentleman of the game, sad to see him break like this.
Chess is brutal.
He's overrated.
@@mercronniel3122 his rating is 2727 .. i do not see any overrating there.
It can’t be that sad for Vidit after defeating Nakamura twice in this tournament.
Artist and not a butcher! It's because of these moves chess is so beautiful! Even Vidit's bold king walk really made the game so beautiful!
Vidits main enemy is his clock
Great game by both players. Really enjoyed that one. The way Nepo kept his cool against Vidit's pressure was amazing. Vidit was against Nepo and time pressure. Hard to find best moves under those conditions.
The more lines the better, there are always interesting posibilities, even more for us mortals that dont see 20 moves lines.
Agad speaks so eloquent and is a true gentleman.
Very intense game to watch live especially near the end.
Go Ian.... Finish your story
Nepo is in his Cody Rhodes arc right now 😂
Respect to agadmator for clearly sacrificing his sleep routine to cover these games.
Love your videos, man. Renewed my chess interest completely!
Pragg was not disappointed this much because he was not winning way back in his gane with hikaru..but definitely vidit knew he was winning some where and he missed it
Ian is a stone cold killer. Worth noting Vidit hit him with both a Berlin end game and a queen exchange Petrov. Ian won both. That's nuts
BS.Vidit was the one winning most of the match.
Fun stuff here.
It’s late for me- and I’m in North America! Thank you Agad!
Great content right after the game! You are amazing, keep up the awesome work!
All Indian players are going to crumble under pressure. Nothing is wrong with their game, they just lack experience at this level and will certainly do well in coming years.
Very complete analysis. Thanks.
Nepo
Best game of the tournament so far.
What a game! Thanks for the recap. And Nepo was kind of emotional, too. One could have the impression, that he felt a bit sorry for Vidit.
Definitly a wizard move ;)
ty for the nice coverage of the chess candidate agad
I was explaining to my roommate who doesn’t play chess that if Vidit had won here against the front runner, he would have even had chances at potentially winning the tournament (with a lot of luck). It makes sense that he was so emotional, as a loss here means his chances are now 0.
Wow, The variations make sense,. You did a fantastic job. Thank you.
Congratulations.
Great commentary, they both seem like nice fellas.
Always works unless opponent is Magnus
25:27 Instead of Rf1, what if Rxc3, Kxc3, Be1+, Kc2, Bxb4, cxb4+, Ka2... ?
Vidit played pawn to e4... and it was at this point that we have an entirely similar game. HEHEH
dang, that's funny right there!
Imagine liking your own comment. And then responding to it.
@@DavenportCarlo I don't have to.... I DID THAT!
@@DavenportCarlo At least I didn't make a fake YT acct and use THAT to respond to my own comment (like tons of people do). So, what's your problem with me having a little fun making a joke?
@TruthSurge Oh, that was supposed to be a joke? Remind me to laugh next time.
Wow, what a game and what a comeback, game of thenhighest quality from both players, but what a comeback
We need to see medo
I saw that H5-6 move for Vidit, as winning the game, but very risky, as usual Adag explains it so well that it almost convinces me that there is nothing more to be done at this point, problem is a number of computer moves in the making that can quite be missed. Beautiful game by both I will certainly rewatch over and over.
Never apologize for showing lines my friend. Love from Tennessee USA ❤️ #suggestion
Great coverage! Ty
So glad that you put the video at the end. It was a very fitting reaction to this game
What an epic battle. Wow.
Thanks Antonio, you always give a lot of fun and quality to your analysis
This game reminded of some of the games between Kramnik-Kasparov in their Championship Match where the Queens were off the board and square control was of prime importance. Nepo is now like Alekhine in that, as Alekhine once said, you have to beat me in the opening, then the middlegame and then the ending. He seems to rise up to time pressure better than others in Classical play.
23:54 put yourself into Vidit's shoes, but please not in Alireza's ones, otherwise you will be eliminated from the championship for making too much of noise😅
Go back to eating cow shit 😂😂
I can sit through levy blitz through most games but your reviews are always the best, showing the ideas behind every move and looking at different variations in the position much love big man you're bringing chess to the people
This game kept me on the edge of my seat until the last second. Thinking about making an analysis of it too. ❤
#suggestion can you turn on setting which allow us to see move signs, like which are good, best or brilliant moves
I never just look to win with the light pieces and everyone should look to win with both colors because with good preparation it can be done and having dark pieces got a disadvantage
Thanks for such a beautiful analysis as usual.
Hi Antonio, I am watching the match Nepo vs visit round 11 but there's no sound. You might have accidentally mute it.Cheers Jean-marie from Perth in Western Australia
Pretty sure 50k people that already watched it would've noticed it. It is on your end :)
@@agadmator my apologies 🙏 it is on my end.
How is white ok with all the doubled pawns?
#suggestion: fischer vs spassky, 1992 game 1. once the candidates are done, of course!
Nepo is a boss
Imagine he wins the tourney but loses the match, again xd
So annoying to post a comment that gives the result.

24:40 I'd point out that apparently Rg1 was the only move in that position, even Rh1 would somehow lose (no idea why) but while Ka3 was an objective draw, it basically lost on the spot
Thriller! This candidates is going right down to the line
What an excellent game. It's always so entertaining when someone's actually trying to win instead of trying to draw!
That is top class chess! Wow!! 👏👏
Best match of the tournament, and one of my favorite matches.
🔥🔥🔥
I personally always hate the lines but today you didn't ponder or deviate too much. It was a long video but really good and understandable options/side lines.
Nepo is the absolute Boogeyman. If he could just slow down a little and not make blunders like getting his bishop trapped , blunders below 2000 people do , he could just crush everyone. A modern-day Ivanchuk if you will.
Yeah it's Nepo again, but proud of the Indian players. They did amazingly well for their first candidate
i saw yesterday h5 ,but vidit didn;t play this, with less time on the clock
If Ian wins, it would be his third consecutive Candidates victory. So far he is showing why he is the odds-on favourite. And I'm pretty sure that with all that experience to back him up, he would make no mistake in unseating Ding from the Wooden Throne.
Why are you apologizing for the long analysis lines? We enjoy them a lot. Plus, this game was very rich and it deserves such a well-detailed video
What a game - and Agad, please don't listen to anyone who says "we don't want to follow complicated lines or have long videos." The beauty of chess is so often what was possible on the board, rather than what actually happened. And no one else explains so clearly to amateur players what might have happened and what top grandmaster can see
I would have been the first to watch but am currently in a club flexing g the money i won betting on Real Madrid to Qualify
Vidit nepo and hikaru are like rock paper scissors...iykyk 😅
I never knew Nepo had tattoos
At around 10:10 in the video @agadmator set an alarm on my google home for 11:10PM.
Great video…thanks, as always, Agadmator!!
Might be harsh to say, but Nepo plays the chess villain role pretty well.
Not that he's mean or anything but he's not the most personable chap.
A fierce competitor who regularly brutalises even the best players out there.
So dominate at these candidate tournaments.
Agad, in end game, if you push the pawn to C 3, the dark square bishop would just take the pawn because the king protects the bishop.
25:18 Life's motto.😊
Thriller of a game, in the endgame part at least.
After the game Vidit did show Nepo the h5 move (after Rb3), he probably found it at some point after it was no longer an idea. And Nepo said "I misplayed it terribly". That was all their interaction though, not much of an analysis.
Nepo was obviously not satisfied with his game. Ir was rather clear while he was waiting to sign the scoresheets.
Thanks for the warning agad, I will alert all residents of the bar and the library to be prepared.
Nepo is big boss, he wins 🏆 tournament
A thriller to watch alongside the man city real madrid game. I mean you cant ask for a better day.
LFG NEPO!
Probably the most important game of the tournament so far.
Hello everyone !!!🎉🎉🎉
great game from both men
Isn't the variation at 18:57 winning for white 😅 rxa3 bxa3 and the knight moves and black looses all their queen side pawns
The many lines are enjoyable.
Same thing happened to Nepo vs. Ding. What comes around goes around in the world of chess. Congrats Nepo!
18:47 Nc4 is just mate actually.
Bruh all vidits do is ruining the canidates for Hikaru
Just imagining Abdusatarov in place of Nijat , this candidates would have been just ❤❤
