Fabiano is the hardest working Chess player in the world up against monsters of natural talent. Probably the player I respect the most. He'd be the undisputed world champion if it weren't for the supernatural mutants like Magnus. It's a great century for the game. I love the whole field. Great game and great coverage. Thanks for bringing us this coverage every day, Agad.
I hope Gukesh wins I think he’s capable he’s shown his great determination throughout this tournament Hikaru and Fabiano have both been playing rejuvenated chess and Nepo of course stills wants to win it’s an exciting day of Chess today may the Best player Win Go Gukesh 😊♟️🇮🇳❤️
This was a really fun game to watch live because Prag actually kept playing at the end there and even Queening despite knowing he was going to lose. It's really a rare day when we get so close to a checkmate these days when everyone resigns immediately at the first sight of defeat.
If ding wins the championship match again he deserves our respect. He might not be the strongest champion ever but winning against the leader that will emerge from this tournament will be one of the strongest performances of his life. And the chess world will be disappointed...
Kind of, except if Gukesh ties Hikaru and one of Fabi or Ian wins their game then Gukesh is tied for the lead and has to go into a tie-break match in faster time control. So a bit worse than Armageddon with black in that regard, because a draw does not guarantee winning the tournament... AND a win DOES guarantee winning the tournament, so it's worth it to be a little risky...
Imagine if Fabi/Nepo win their game, and wait for Hikaru-Gukesh game to end, and see who they play the tiebreak, and then see Hikaru push way too far, and lose the game and no tiebreaker for the last game
A good example where the initial statement looks clever but on closer inspection, it has no relevance. The time period is same for both, if gukesh draws he most probably goes into a tie break and it's a classical match.
if Pragg supoorted Fabi and wanted to help him win the tournament could he have intentionally "blundered" this game away ? Of course not making it so obvious. Are there any rules preventing players from engaging in this sort of play?
shout out to the organizers who arranged these matches in a way that no 2 players from a same country can face off in the final round. not accusing anyone of unsportsmanship behavior but if gukesh was facing pragg or vidit in the last round we could possibly have drama, but that possibility is eliminated by the brilliant organizers.
I don't care if they're rooting for Gukesh to be the champion, just because he's the youngest, but who really deserves it here is Fabi. The only one who didn't lose a single game in the classic against Carlsen. Ian is weak, he blundered a lot, and Ding wasn't even in the candidates' tournament, he inherited the place from Karjakin.
man this tournament is a blessing. And all happened because Magnus doesnt play. We have too many players in the top and decisive games, not boring magnus games. Thank god
yeah but it's weird because in the book there is "10 little indians" which vanish after each murder, until there were none... So i'm not sure he actually intended it.
Boris Spassky was asked what was the difference that enabled him to beat Petrosian in 69' after having lost to him in 66' in their Championship Matches. He replied-I learned you have to play Classical Openings at the highest level. They are the best and most researched for a reason. He had not played them in 66' and had lost so I think he was correct so saying that Fabi had to play a extremely rare variation in order to have a chance to win is, to me, suspicious at best. Good openings make for good wins.
This is actually a typical sign of a bespoke suit jacket. Functioning button holes require hand-stitching, which means that factory-made jackets just have sewn-on buttons without actual buttonholes. Having an the last button unbuttoned is thus a subtle signal saying "this is a high-quality suit". That being said, the suit doesn't really fit that well, so it probably is a ready-to-wear suit trying to look bespoke
Didnt crumbled, bt yeah lot less experienced i would say, his first candidates & fabi being only 2800+ is already a beast, still managed him to drag to a 7hr+ & 89 moves game... Blitzed all ending moves in time pressure, i guess time management was where he got defeated.
@princetaliyan7345 I have seen when pragg comes to a point where he has not prepared the line, he tottaly does the wrong move ... chess is also remembering moves as fischer has once told ... pragg dosent have the spontaneity...
Man, I think it would be so ironic to go from wardrobe shenanigans like the Alireeza shoes incident to looking like NASCAR cars with a ton of sponsors all over the players' suits in a few years! Feels like the hectic display of logos could be just as distracting or annoying
There was a very nice full-page article in this weekend's Globe and Mail, which is Canada's premium newspaper. Though the story got a couple of minor things wrong, the journalist had some very complimentary things to say about the first-ever brother-sister Candidates.

Everytime I hear "Rossolimo" in game recap, I think the same thing. And every 100 times or so, I share it: my father's best friend from college was board 3 at UNC's chess team. UNC is a very difficult school to get into, and board 1 was a ringer: a Russian "student" who barely spoke English. So being board 3 is kind of a big deal. I've played him, and I've watched games with him, and he's a better calculator than me, and I'm pretty good, and the better evaluator than him. I've played him a bunch of times and never won, although I've had the better position, but he's just infuriatingly SOLID. Then again, I don't think I've played him since I had the realization that boosted my Lichess score from just under 2000 to over 2200, which was "I'm not Tal at all: I'm Karpov." Anyways, he and my father used to sometimes hang out at the Marshall Chess Club in New York, which was run by Rossolimo. And Rossolimo was infamous for trying to set up ménages de trois with the members with attractive wives. True story.
Agad said a while back that Medo has gotten too old to climb the stairs. I miss him, it would be nice if Agad showed some footage of Medo once in a while.
Hikaru winning tomorrow vs gukesh, winning the candidates and the world championship match is a dream for many chess fans. His rise is something that's not been talked often. After dipping to 2730 in Croatia GCT 2019, my man has just kept growing. But, since its sports and anything could happen, we would love watching fighting chess tomorrow.
Gukesh winning was seriously disappointing. It really changes the landscape of the final round. He will play boring, defensive, drawish chess. If they had all been on 8.0, it would have made for a perfect final round where anything can happen and everyone would be looking to take chances. Now? Fabi and Ian will end in a draw, and even if one magically pulls out a win, it won't even matter. Hikaru will push hard and end up in a losing position. /sigh
1:16 "Fabi is sponsorless, probably won so much money already that he can afford to wear clean suits, so good for him."-Agad.
Lol yeah I loved that line.
Can we all give Antonio a “ good job “ for not littering his videos with advertisements.
I own both a "Hello Everyone" and "What's the Idea" shirts out of appreciation.

Gukesh is basically gonna be playing a classical Armageddon where he won the black pieces
