Definitely the greatest performance in modern times. I studied the games using Rybka (one of the strongest engines at the time) and found that the moves were mostly top moves except in the game vs Magnus on move 34 where Fabiano went Qg1+ (score -7) instead of Bg1+ (score -29, later study (2021) shows this is mate in 20).

Happened to be the first elite chess tournament I ever spectated. Magnus almost collided with me when he quickly spun around while walking because he realized he left his blazer on his chair in the playing hall. I had to Matrix out of the way to avoid being smashed into.

In 2015, I was at the National Open Chess Tournament in Las Vegas, NV. While I was playing, my wife was waiting in the hallway. She recognized Fabiano Cuarana and said hello, and he was nice and shook her hand, and signed a chess book she was reading. Very cool memory for her.

This is the video I enjoyed most on your channel so far. You should do more of such series of games formats, similar to what agadmator does over the span of multiple videos. Since you don't go into too much depth you can fit multiple games, sometimes tournaments into a single video. That also adds an additional narrative to the video. Anyways, awesome stuff!

Great analysis as always Levy, but you could have perhaps focussed more on how Fabi has truly mastered the techniques of the TEMPO and GAMBIT, which are the most important things to master in order to become a 3000+ rated cyborg overlord.
It's an incredible streak but Fischer's was more impressive. Included in the 20-win streak was 4 straight wins against Petrosian, statistically (I believe) the toughest GM in history to beat. Fischer was on another level in '70-'72. He also spotted the champion a 2-0 lead, then beat him by 4 pts in a 21-game match.
He won one game against Petrosian that was in the streak. He finished the interzonals with like 8(one guy resigned without even playing) consecutive wins and demolished Taimanov and Larsen 12-0. He lost second game against Petrosian which ended the streak.

You are absolutely correct. An amazing feat that has yet to be challenged. Fabiano Carauana's accomplishment in that memorable tournament will echo in eternity.
This third game against Levon Aronian was absolutely insane. Normally when Grandmasters play I immediately know what they are doing with their moves. It usually seems relatively straight forwards once you have seen the move because the hard thing about chess is not to understand a move once you see it but to see a move in the first place with so many possibilitys. In the game Fabi vs Levon I was at times utterly confused about the moves Fabi played. Many of them were just super counter intuitive and very very hard to spot. Fabi either had very deep engine prep or unrivaled genius. I assume it was the former. Still amazing.
this wasn't too long after I started getting back into chess (partly due to too much time on my hands in law school, partly due to exciting developments in chess). to this day its hard for me to imagine anything more incredible happening, though magnus's 100+ unbeaten streak and tournament win streak and approach at his old Elo record threatened to get there. I don't know if I'll see another performance like this in my lifetime.

Coincidentally, Fabi's game with MVL reminded me of the Najdorf poison pawn variation, even though it was the Caro-Kann, (Gotham's favorite opening).

this wasn't too long after I started getting back into chess (partly due to too much time on my hands in law school, partly due to exciting developments in chess). to this day its hard for me to imagine anything more incredible happening, though magnus's 100+ unbeaten streak and tournament win streak and approach at his old Elo record threatened to get there. I don't know if I'll see another performance like this in my lifetime.
