I have 2018 caravan and my track thing on the bottom part has gotten messed up. How much estimated would it cost to get fixed on one or both sides?
1
Does these Vans not have regular door handless
You should make a video on a front door not opening do to latch being off. So removal of door panel with door closed.
As I watched the video trouble shooting the components seemed to get more and more imvolved/complicated and then when it came down to
the issue of removing the inside door panel to access/replace the door switch I came to the conclusion that I could live without a automated door.😢
Then at the very last few seconds of the video a switch was mentioned and I looked up at the door on/off switch THAT I DID NOT KNOW EXISTED and my heart started racing when I observed it was in the OFF position. Put the switch in the ON position and my door came alive from its sleep. OMG!🎉
Always check for any switches FIRST and prevemt heart attacks.
Thanks. You guys have helped me repair multiple vehicles over the years! You guys rock!
Great video. I just identified a break in my wiring harness and soldered it back together. Thanks!
Wow I got car sick watching you take that apart. I'll have to pay to get it done. lol thank you, excellent skills you have.
Thank you!!! I had issues with the clips coming apart causing my door to jam and eventually the some of the black clips fell off! I went to a junkyard and got just the black flexi part to replace and protect the wires because my door was still functioning. Will replace tomorrow and hopefully it works! Came to find out that the harness wasn’t clipped on the bottom with the rivet and would cause the entire harness and wires to move out of place causing it to me having to manually stick in the wires back in place every time I had to close it! Thanks again!

Alternative title: how to take apart a dodge minivan
Very nice work. However, I think leaving the door in manual mode ( which is the case in 99%+ of all the cars on this planet) would be the best fix seeing how complicated the repair is and how prone to failure the system would be even after repair. Thanks for the great videos.
+David Snyderman Thanks for the feedback!
Unfortunately even in manual mode my door is unlatching on its own like it wants to close and on my drive way it slams closed
Like your style. Not a bunch of yammering on and useless information. Straight and to the point.
This video is an eye opener as to the labor intensive process involved to just determine and get to the cause of the problem to then replace. When the bill comes, I bet the average consumer gasps asking why so much to replace just a little motor thingee. 😲
Thorough attention to detail! Nice job!
After watching this , I think I'll be using the manual mode . Thanks for the info !!!
Right!!!
I have a 2012 Town n Country. I would prefer to have my sliding doors manual. How do you do that?
I would have liked to see you repair the latch. I have this very issue and I was hoping to see someone troubleshoot and fix it.
That door harness had issues in the previous body style as well. Great video i like that you go into great detail on how to do everything
+korosys Pratt Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Problem: Neither Pillar button nor the handles inside or out operated the power sliding doors, but the key fob double click worked on both doors so did the buttons in the overhead console. The fix: 9:40 switching the power sliding door master lock
button, located in the overhead console. Thank you for your video.
The master lock button (start at 9:32) solved my problem. Thanks.
I have a 2014 passenger side slider will open when buttons are pressed, but it will not lock at the lower latch when it fully opens, it makes the attempt, then the latch releases it so not locked in, and that then prevents it from closing when buttons pressed as the sensor does not see that lower latch as having the door locked into it. If I try and force it to lock at that lower latch by moving the door back and forth, it will take 3-4 attempts before the lower lock at the floor will hold the door, and when it does, it will start closing the door, but will fall short of totally sucking the rear latch ion completely, I give it a little ew push, the latch works and pulls in the door and closes as it should, no strange noises aside from the latch at the door floor when one is trying to get the door to lock to the last man rally you will hear a little clicking sound as it tries to hold the door, and then usually it fails and releases it and door sits an invoice out of the latch and sits there till aI manually closes the door and it will close properly as it should. Any ideas based on my symptoms what it may be, it does not seem like it is the door latch as it works when I manually open close.
How do you close them if they are stuck open and my battery has drained (apparently). I parked my car. Next morning went to start it, struggling to turn over but the doors opened to let kids get in but wouldn't start. Now, doors stuck open and then nothing but clicking sound. Tested battery 8%. Thanks for any help. 😟
My wife brought the car home one day and said the sliding doors stopped working. Im so glad I found this video, turns out the switch up top was flipped off. 😂
Thought I was going to spending the day t-shooting
Watched the whole video and at the very end he shows how to turn the automatic doors on and off. Mine was off!!!!! Maybe check that first???????????????
😂😂😂
My right slider was not locking so I replaced the actuator. Door now locks. Problem I’m having is door now will not open with handles, auto button opens and closes doors fob opens and closes door. Handle inside and outsid are the only items not opening door. I checked the wires and they are not broken and in the correct place. Could use some advise on getting handles to open door
Hi Carlos! I have the same exact problem. Did you find the problem and if so how? Thank you!
Good one. I have that same problem with my 2001..
Thanks.. Is there one fuse for both left and right sliding doors on the DGC 2020..?
Your Awesome all your Videos are top notch keep up the great work for 1A Auto.
On mine both doors have the problem. Power works with key buttons and indoor ceiling buttons. It just won't open/close with pulling handle
We turned a junk yard manual slider into a power slider by putting all the guts from my power door into it, the problem is that it only opens or closes half way. No latch issues, just the door it's self opens up and stops halfway.
Im having trouble with my door not closing. Opens right back up. I done all the cleaning. Works for a while then back. Now I've moved the wiring just jiggling it. And it works again for a while. I had new part put in because it locked up. But now this is happening. Any
suggestions. Probably the wiring.
I have another issue with my side auto sliding door. It opens up on command, but it immediately closes without the command. Thank you for the video.
the Left Power Sliding Door Latch Cinch seems to be my issue
Great video. I have a bit of a different issue in that the door opens and closes perfectly from the FOB or the overhead buttons but not from the buttons by the doors (it does this on both side doors and even the back works perfect). ONLY the side doors buttons are effected and both of them won't work. Any ideas?
I have that exact issue. Really want to know why
I overthought this. Try the overhead ON/OFF switch next to the door buttons. It's the LAST thing I checked. LOL
Ok but which latch? The rear latch then? I have same issue and latch failed but dont want to install the wrong one. Please answer
i have a 2013 grand caravan and the sliding door doesn't want to open manual or auto i have to lift up the back of the door and rock it a few times and then it opens
For a person who cannot work on something like that is the car dealership to expensive or how much would it cost
I wonder that for which features does this cable feed the door? Firstly, to slide. What's more for? Thank you so much.
Do you know if those doors can be adjusted. I put another door on one it open and closes fine, but the gap at the back of the door is tight and the front of the door has a big gap. Seems like it needs to move forward
The hard part is when the door lock is stuck in the lock position like mine. Now I have to figure out how to do all of what you did without the benefit of opening the door.
Would that be the same case when the door (upon closing) closes halfway then opens back out? I've checked and cleaned and WD40ed wheels and rollers but no change.
My issue, the motor or cable is jammer. Can not open door more than 3 inches. Any ideas?
I have a 2010 T&C and had similar problems with my left door. Now it doesn't work at all, nor does the window. Would that most likely be the harness??
same issue as my car...left rear window, sliding door, and heated seat don't work....If you find a fix let me know...but I guessing the module.
Mines too. Ever figured out the problem?
Owen 2006 passeger side i did change door harness did not work after I think that It has to do with internal harness by the door
Door module on sliding door 2005 dodge caravan
No sound or movement at all on mine removed front door lower trim unfastened four wire gray plug red wire has no power traced to dash under radio no power there either. Any clue. I used a test light tho
I have Dodge Grand Caravan 2012 the Right slide door that’s the only one didn’t locked ! Can u help me with that please!
If you have a multimeter why don't you check the wires for opens using that rather than looking for outward signs of breaks?
Is that for all dodge grand caravan’s?
How in the world is this diagnosis? Because you did some continuity tests on some wires but why did you start there? “It’s most likely the latch”, why? This is just guessing. Throw parts at it, great motto for a parts company. Have a nice day.
My issue is that i want it in manual mode and when i open the door all the way, it electronically unlatches it self
Very interesting. thanks
How to open a sliding door on a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan On the driver side it will not open automatically or in manually how do I get it open need desperate help
Same problem here.
I just got a 2012 Chrysler Town n Country. I would prefer my side sliding doors to be manual. Is there any way to make it manual?
Do you have links to the specific parts? Having a hard time finding a new wiring harness or motor assembly on your website. Thanks for your help.
Mine the door opens and closes by itself. Or won't work at all. Would this fix that as well
Wow. Nevermind
Do you a video that you replace the other part?
My 2017 grand caravan sliding door does not lock , after i lock the car with the key fob you can still pull and open the sliding door please anybody knows how to lock them for good ?
Same problem. 😏
I have a dodge caravan we 2008 does go manual or not
Can you fix that circuit? Is it stuck?
My doors open with remote and overhead switches but none of the lower switches work.
Hi I need your help for caravan 2013
You don't need to remove the window. Just use duct tape to one side glass and over the door to the other side.
smart tip
G m do you know why the 2013 toyota voxy sliding door don't pull in at the back
Greetings from germany, what is that part you pull out the cable at 5:11? mine is brocken and I don't know what it is so Iam not able to order sparte part, thx a lot

Hi, I opened the car door the same time as the driver pressed the power button, and then it got locked from both inside and outside. What’s the issue?
I don’t have power doors in my 2010 Caravan, but the same door, the power lock has stopped working. I’ve suspected it was the actuator, but could it be the harness instead?
What was it Ray?

I'm having a similar issue. Was the latch the issue on the door? I had the same code on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. Just replaced the schlep on mine and that didn't fix it.
+Kevin Nemetchek We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Where is the problem? How fix?

@@1AAuto ok thank you
Could this be what's wrong with my power sliding door? It opens fine by itself but when I hit the button for it to close it makes this loud noise until i "pop" the handle and then it closes by itself. It's an 05 caravan

Hey quick question, I have a 2019 dodge grand caravan sxt. This lever button is on lock from the inside and no matter how much I push the little switch it does not want to move to unlock position which means the door doesn't open. Any ideas?

What kind of scanner is that called
Check fuses and get the book before you take the door apart.
I have a 2006 and my passenger slide door is locked and won't open at all. I can't unlock it to open. Any suggestions?

Mine just did this was door lock actuator.
What scanner is that
My door won't even open...no clicks or nothing.
I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, both my side doors keep moving even after they are fully open, any ideas what it can be?
+John Doe We unfortunately cannot provide a diagnosis for your vehicle over the internet. We would suggest contacting a reputable local mechanic for further assistance with this. 1aauto.com
John Doe yeh it means time to switch to Japanese minivan 🤣
this video didn't show me how to fix the issue... could have test the wire without taking all that steps.
Too much work and a dealer would charge big big money to fix, soooooo
I just open and close it manually. 😊
What trim level?
Whoa Nellie, what a task! The easiest way to avoid all that mess is to avoid purchasing that Chrysler product without the power side doors. I bought a 2013 Caravan my wife liked from a Used-up car lot. The van lacks the power side doors. The side doors on the van maneuver so effortlessly with minimal physical effort that it indicates to me the power doors are for lazy people. The Lot owner told me another potential customer looked over the van and liked it, but not enough to buy it because it lacked the power side doors. Poor Baby!
I just picked up 2019 SXT with the power sliders and hatch. I think where the power sliders may come in handy are for little ones that might have some trouble opening and especially closing from the inside. For me it is great to clap my hands twice then quickly open them with the Fobik. My friends think I installed a Clapper as seen on T V commercials decades ago 😏
Donald Hollums, How presumptuous of you to think electric sliding doors are for the "lazy". How about me, handicapped, my neighbor a mom with 2 toddlers and her hands full. Hope your comment made you feel better. The doors have been a problem...we're here to solve it, I've discovered there is a K-14 Recall on my specific issue that I won't be paying nearly 1k for. Thank you again for your insight.
...*smh God bless your wife.
My bloody manual override switch had been bumped. Check the easy stuff first!

+nismo armada Thanks for checking us out!
Geez, thats a lot of connectors/retainers just to get to that point, might as well pay someone to do it.
Uhhh isn’t that something you did I have the same van uhmm no problems with the sliding doors
No, you’re wrong maybe you’re just broke may be a robber broke it
Scotty Kilmer would just say to not buy one in the first place🤷🏻♂️
I'm here after the stealership tried to charge me 1600 to do this.

Wow, those cars are really junk made it with cheap materials. Every thing fail
I have a 2015 Caravan with MANUAL opening doors. Never had a problem. Power side doors are for lazy people. 🤭🤗
