  • It's hard to start but once it's running, it won't stop! For something so simple to drive, it's a challenge to fix! But don't worry, I'll Ricked-O-FY it!

I’m not much of a golfer either but I know there are lots of these machines around. Great video!

Hey bud, interesting video. Couple tips on the golf car project. First, there is a yellow cam behind the shifter. Rotating the cam will allow you to run the engine in neutral (service mode). The excessive movement in the engine is due to the engine snubber is worn out. The engine continuing to run could be due to the solenoid welding closed. When the key was turned off to shut the engine off you then turned the key on and the starter circuit engaged again. That circuit works likes this, turning the key on sends voltage to the coil of the solenoid (small blue wire to small post). Voltage goes through the coil to the orange wire. From there the orange wire is going to ground through the remainder of the starter circuit (starter limit switch).
It appears the solenoid contacts are welding themselves closed. Adjusting the throttle stop screw to 0 is the correct adjust for these cars as they are "pedal start". In addition the two limit switches beside the accelerator cable are a starter and kill circuit. The starter switch is working but given its not shutting off the kill circuit maybe problematic. Your customers original complaint was the car wouldn't start once it got warm. That could very possibly be the RPM limiter or coil. To check the limiter disconnect the brown wire (ring terminal) held in place by 10mm bolt. The limiter is located directly above the front oil drain plug. Good luck.

@@thehonestmechanic That was the first time I've ever commented on any youtube video . Glad you took it the way I meant it, as positive and helpful feedback. I like the fact that you're engaging your daughter in your hobbies. Good luck to you both.
