These ACEs will be the death of me. One is down for the count. At least one is good to go!

  • Today we're working on Floyd and Dwight. It's a day for regular maintenance, and we have found some issues.
Dwight - the 2018 Polaris Sportsman ACE 570 just needs an oil change. It will need some bearings and bushings later on, but it is ready to rock for now!
Floyd - the 2019 Polaris Sportsman ACE 570 has several issues. First, it won't start - battery, maybe starter too. Bad bearings. Bad bushings. Bad brakes. Worst of all, the inner tie rods are destroyed. I had to take this machine out of service until we can get the new parts.
Stay tuned... We'll get Floyd up and running again soon enough!
Thank you so much for watching!

Nice to get the kids out and involved with the maintenance. That will pay off in spades in their future.

I hope it will help them in their future endeavors. It's very fulfilling to stand back and let them do a job. Some smaller jobs they can do completely by themselves. I'm just glad they know to stop if something seems amiss - like the oil drain bolt in this video. He stopped and asked for help before he ruined anything. Life lessons. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

Awesome video. Glad to see you teaching the kids how to maintain their toys.

Thank you! Yes, I try to involve them whenever possible. My father showed me, and now I'm showing them. Without a basic mechanical knowledge from my childhood, I wouldn't be able to enjoy some of the hobbies I have now, that's for sure! I'm hopeful it will have the same impact on them as it did for me. Thank you for watching and for the comment!

So how many miles to go through bearings and steering rack and brakes? Nice video. Helpful

The kids are pretty rough on the brakes, so I've had to do them a few times. That steering rack only had about 2500 miles on it, so I'm pretty disappointed. I'm fairly certain that machine was routinely driven through mud and water by the previous owner, because the steering rack was worn, the output shaft of the transmission to the prop shaft was worn, and now I've found that the front diff input shaft to prop shaft is worn as well! It's non stop with these machines! The kids love them and we enjoy our family rides, so I'll keep piecing them back together! Thank you for watching!
