    Thank you!! This video made my install super straight forward and easy to do solo. One tip that I found made it easier to remove and reinstall the box, was to stuff an old sweatshirt (or towel, blanket etc) between the trim panel and the inside the body of the car. This gave me just enough room to work and maneuver without banging up my knuckles. Thanks again!

    To add to this, i used heat gun to soften the plastic and bent it instead of cutting it. It was a quick job and neat job.

    Big thank you for making this video. Today, I just replaced the blown JBL sub with a Recoil 2 Ohm and it pounds way better. Cheers

    Good video. I just noticed crackling/vibration in the subwoofer, and the sound system overall sounding weak, after lending the van to my niece to go camping. My guess is her (probably loud and bass heavy) music was the last straw for a subwoofer that was worn out (car is always parked outside and is an '05), so I can't really blame her. This looks like a project for an upcoming weekend!

    A big THANK YOU for this video - saved me from completely destroying the sub-woofer outer cover! And, yes, the Skar sounds absolutely bangin'. Plus, I just saw the entire Toyota OEM sub-woofer unit (including plastic box) going for around $450 so this DIY fix at around $40 made my day! 5 stars, 2 thumbs up!😃

    Thanks so much for your video. I ordered the subwoofer you installed but am paying a shop $50 to install it and your tutorial and speaker recommendation was super helpful.

    I ran two 12 inch mtx subs dropped to 2 ohms to stock amp in my 98 Avalon and had no issues.

    For the speaker you purchased and listed in the summary, was it really as simple as cutting/stripping the end of the original wires and inserting them into the coils of the new speaker? Thanks for posting! This video pushed me over the edge of trying to decide whether to do it myself or pay for an install. diy it is.

      Hello. Yes. This speaker was easy with spring loaded quick release connections. Good luck with the replacement and thank you for commenting!

    Can the jbl system in settings on the toyota radio still control the base?

    Hello, you didn’t show how to get the two black connectors off that have the two wires? Do you just cut the wires or does the black harness connector pull off?

    Fantastic video, you've motivated me to DIY. I do have one question: when you cut out the plastic in the box to make room for the new sub, did you cut to the point where the plastic supports the new sub or did you cut so there is a gap and the plastic and sub don't touch?

    • @projectfixit
      @projectfixit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cut the plastic to where the base of the sub would not touch. I did not want any vibrations which could make noise to occur. The plastic is pretty soft and easy to cut. Thanks!

    is it the same instalattion process for a 2005 sienna xle?

    Most informative video. i just bought the same skar sub for my 05 Seinna. Still a little confused. Are the contacts on the sub marked with the red ring the positive hookup? Just checking. Can't really get a clear answer from Skar. Thank you.

      Fore sure, the speaker terminals are color coded. Red for positive and black for negative. I just cannot remember if the terminals were stamped as such.

    Hi - it is one year, has the subwoofer been ok in your 2004 Sienna as i have to replace mine and since my vent window broke on that side, this is perfect timing.
