    Stranger was all the best of what was florida in the 80's and 90's. Countless nights at the club after long days on the beach with a lot of fun dancing to these guys and drinking ice cold budweisers "the king of beers, we know of no other..." Et Cetera. Every girl loved Ronnie, every guy wanted to be him. Greg was the consummate host and ring leader...he'd point at you with that smile of his and muss his hair and you felt 'chosen'. Damn those were good times. I spent my twenties and early thirties with these guys and the Bleeding Hearts and Lefty. I loved those days when Florida beaches had no Scientologists and the view of the gulf could still be seen from the causeway...some things remembered always bring a smile.

      +Elizabeth Libby their personalities were as infectious as their music.......we would get a gang together from sarasota and drive to st pete or tampa to see them. unbelievably good times.......we were gymnasts, occasionally they would let us on stage and we would do standing backflips on stage while they played!!!

      I have been to hundreds of stranger shows in Tampa, st.pete , winterhaven port ritchie , there was nothing like em , they encompassed what the feeling or vibe was in central Florida at that time like no one else could . So many good memories , damn good times

    • @morganhamilton4023
      @morganhamilton4023 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ronny Garvin was the absolute best guitarist ever , his abilities to take some peavy amps and an old strat and produce some of the best licks and hard driving sounds with phenomenal leads and a touch of funk and blues was second to none , being able to see their show was certainly the best part of the 80s and early 90s

    Big fan here. used to see em in the late 80's. Ronnie was the shit. even on this old video, just listen to that tone! Loved the sound of him and his guitar! I also loved that even in the 80's Ronnie wasn't following the herd and doing the "the glam rock scene".

    I was introduced to this band in the mid 1980's when I was in the military at MacDill AFB. My roots go back to Romeo. Tom Kings wife was good friends with my friend Connie Church. I spent a lot of time with this band. They were gracious enough to let me back stage with numerous girlfriends. Later after the military I sold their albums at Camelot Music Coral Springs through Bassin Distributors. RIP Ronnie Garvin. All I can ask is WHY?

      Now there's a trip down memory lane...seeing Stranger at the the Rustic Lounge 1984/1985 - good times. Good thing I lived right around the corner. Actually had a beer with them after one of the shows as they were packing up the trailer, seemed like just good ole boys to me. I didn't even know their names but thought for sure they'd hit the big time with all that talent. Haven't been that way in many years, guessing the Rustic is long gone now.

    Back in the day Tampa had a hell of a music scene. So many great bands from so many genres. Stranger should have been national and worldwide like some of the other bands that came out of there. But I think they were more than happy to remain Florida boys! The music business screwed them over so they did it on their own terms!

    WOW -- How Killer -- I Recorded The Greg Billings Band on 11-02-2017 I Asked Him If I Could Record Him. He Frown and told me not to post most of it. I Posted only 3 songs, none of him original Stuff or Strangers Stuff. What Greg B. Does Not Realize That The Videos Bring Back Memories for people Who Where There or Seen the Band That Tour. The Videos Might Point People To His Music & Merchandise or Say I Need To See That Band Live in Person. The Video's I Do Don't Interfere with record sales or Merchandise sales. All The Bands To Day Realize That, the Young Bands Love it When I Record Them, Even The Wanee Music Fest 2018 I Know The Band I Recorded They Love My Video's They Commented on Them By Sending Me a Message on messenger They all Know You Don't Make Much on Sale of Records With Sites Like Spotify, Their Live Band , That Where The Money is Today Playing Shows it Not The 70's or 80's Where if You Have Number One Hit you sit in Your Big House and Collect the Money Those Days are Long Gone Thank God if They Want Money Go Outt and Play For The Fans. Anyway Great Video -- Thank Roy L.

    No offense to anyone but I never understood why Ronnie killed himself. Everyone knew his talent was special. I heard they broke up because the singer got stomach cancer but he’s still singing! Ronnie was going to Nashville to be a sessions guitarist! That’s all I have ever heard but I don’t think I buy any of that! No matter what Ronnie was a great guitarist and Stranger was one of the best bands I ever saw! I’ve been to over 100 concerts and seen STANGER open for the Outlaws and Molly Hatchet several times! But I also went to the Other Place in Ormond Beach and saw them 4 times so I’ve seen them 7 times total! I loved them and it sucks he and Price are gone!

      @Geetannermusic what are you doing watching a Stranger video. Country and Bop? This is Florida Rock and Roll not sissy east country or dorky bop music. That just don’t make no sense??? This is a fairly terrible recording . It doesn’t capture just how badass this band truly was. Now go put out a country Bop album and sell 5 copies to your family 🤣🤣🤣🤧

      I got to see these guys one time back in Ormond Beach at the other place they kicked ass. My late Brother Michael Whitten was friends with a lot of these people and goes back when they guys in Stranger and played the same club circuit back when I think Stranger was called Romeo. I remember him telling me about them then I was only about 13 years old but I remember they sounded awesome live and the band my brother played in was a band called ALIEN from Atlanta Georgia AND last time I got to see my brother play was at the agora ballroom here in Atlanta before he left the band.
