@@jeffjohnson7011 He surely is! But think maybe Keith is a bit more influetial, though he's just an average bluesguitarist.
This is what you get when non-musicians compile these lists
Before watching, guitar players that has to be on the list:
Jimi Hendrix
Eric Clapton
Eddie Van Halen
Brian May
Mark Knopfler
Øystein Sunde
Steve Howe
O(+>
--- Danny Gatton ---
I own 22K CDS and 7k vinyl and 2k tapes, and after listening to my collection, nobody whoever touched a guitar could play like Danny. He was already on tv in the 50s at 12. He could play any instrument, and he built hot rods. Danny Gatton and Jeff Beck had lots in common.
But Danny lived around his family, wife and daughter and liked playing in the D.C. area.
Sadly, after losing his 3 closest buddies, he took his life at 49. in the 90s.
Wow. You didn't even say rock guitarists. Apart from a few that are only here to reputation where is John McLaughlin, Satriani, Steve Howe, Steve Vai. Petrucci, Andy Powell, Paco de Lucia, Gary Moore etc etc
I'm always dig a great guitar riff, no matter who gave it. I could make a case for each one of the 30 mentioned here. Give me some guitar any day of the week, month or year.
Rock on!
Jeff Beck not at least in the Top 10 is a insult. He's the only man I've seen live walk on stage, not say a word, blow everyone's mind and walk off.
My addition to guitarists left out are Martin Barre of Jethro Tull, Joe Pass, George Benson, and Andy Powell/Ted Turner of Wishbone Ash as dual lead guitarist. But I guess this is all subjective.
Jonny Greenwood , Ronnie Wood , Neil Young , Edge , Steve Winwood . Clapton was the original Guitarist in the Yardbirds long before Cream .
Tom Morello is my personal favourite. Love his technique.
A list like this will always cause a lot of reaction, but...
By my count 29 rock/pop stars, and one Blues legend. Not a single country guitarist (Glenn Campbell, Roy Clark (6 string and 12 string, banjo, and fiddle) , Jerry Reed), no Bo Diddley, no Les Paul (talk about influential), no Dick Dale?
Roy Clark was astonishing!
I saw dick dale multiple times. page may have played with a cello bow, but dd could play with drumsticks! plus he literally invented the surf guitar genre
"two one one two" is my favourite Rush album
I laughed out loud at that one.
Where is Mick Mars - the best hair metal guitarist
Who tf is that
@@cantankerish9399lmao what… motley crue’s guitarist
@@cantankerish9399 lmao how do you not know Mick mars?
@@cantankerish9399😂😂 maybe make top 30 hair metal list😊
Well shit aren’t I a genius
How about Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Petrucci?
I’m not spending over a half hour watching this but if Randy Rhoads isn’t on the list you’re wrong
Many artists are missing from this list, but thank you for getting Tom Morello on it!
Wouldn't the top 30 greatest guitars of all time also.......just be male
i read probably 40 comments down to make sure someone pointed this out ... we live in such a dumb P.C. time that we cant just say that the 30 best are men , so this is the best 30 ...... period .. ...we have to say they have their own list is why women arent on here...meanwhile they are breaking their own P.C. rules , by assuming all 30 of these people identify as males ...did they even ask what their pronouns were ? 😲 ...also , if men can identify as women and fight biological women in the olympics , why cant these 30 men identify as women and both lists will be the same and they can save production time on videos ... if they can punch them in the face , they can def handle a guitar solo battle , right ? 😂
one of the most under appreciated guitarists Gary Markasky lead guitarists for Michael Stanley Band from 1978-1983
I had to watch just to see if you included Glenn Campbell and Roy Clark
Right?! Was wondering if someone would mention Clark & Campbell. Thank you
Roy Clark was amazing!
Roy Clark was spectacular.
Clark was aweome player
I chortled at the placement and selection, knowing that the comments would be a minefield of outrage and disappointment. Great job!!!
Where's Buckethead?!
Seriously!
I have seen him play and he is top ten rock guitarist for me.
Came hoping to see him, not gonna waste my time now..
Buckethead is all flash, no soul
@@briangotschall5918 Have you seen him live? Flash goes a long way.
Simply bombastic video
Where is Derek Trucks????
This
working at walm art
Trucks deserves his due as does Duane Allman
@@MrZappaman420lol regarded as current best still playing n would never work normal mundane job like u have ever!😂😂
John petrucci not even on this is list is criminal let alone not being in the top five is mind boggling. I mean Keith Richards? Really lmfao
Brian May will always be my favourite.
Townsend #14? If you never saw the Who you don't know Townsend's genius.
Guys, how do you make this list and not have James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet on here! They brought Metal to the masses!
No, that honour to dual guitarists belongs to Tipton and Downing.
Just get Hetfield on that list, all you need
Dave Murray and Adrian Smith beat them by ten years and a bucket load of actual talent.
3:01 COME ON WATCHMOJO!!! SLASH ranked 27?!?!? We all know that guy DESERVES to be WAY HIGHER THAN THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brian May, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Vernon Reid, and the one that’s never on these lists, Tony MacAlpine.
Is there another Brian May other than Queens because he's on the list...
Did I miss the part where Tom Petty was mentioned or was actually overlooked!? 🤯
Duane Allman introduced the world to electric slide (md has never been bettered), created southern rock, and could outjam basically everyone in this list, but you have a bunch of guys who only can play power chords because their bands sold more albums.
I feel so blessed to be able to enjoy these dudes talents and influence, and there's so many not on the list
How are Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and John Petrucci NOT on this list IT'S A FUCKING DISGRACE
What are you doing Mojo? Mayer, Satriani, and Vai aren't on here but Angus Young IS??!!?? What are we doing?
I'm pleasantly surprised to see Stevie Ray Vaughan on here! And so high up, too.
Terry Kath should be on this list too!
What about Paco de Lucía?
#2 Jimmy & #1 Jimi YES & YES!!
