    Nice drone! -- i chose the Parrot Mambo FPV, because it is smaller and thereby fly "safer" indoors, otherwise i think they are equal to eachother, had to buy extra batteries because it seems all these smaller drones suffers from short batterylife - and we here in Sweden can fly drones without any restricitions whatsoever, not filming military facilities of course! - greetings Levi in Sweden (origin Finnish/Russian)

    This was a great review, you went over literally everything! Except that flight map/path, I agree with you I don't trust it to not just take off in whatever direction. I will test it out in an open space for fun. And I think this one is good when it comes to full throttle down, it has yet to shut off on me. Syma nailed it on this one!!!

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, agree. Throttle down seems fine. That was an awful design feature in the X8HG. Very poor idea by Syma. thanks!!

    Thanks for the great review. My X5UW is already half way here to me now and looking forward to flying it next week. I must have at least 25 quads collected over the years and they are improving every six months. My first quad copters were the syma brand and they have never let me down. My dji phantom 4 I bought last fall has only been flown once as winter came along, so am anxious to get flying and make some more videos again. I subscribed to your channel, and look forward to more of your reviews. HappyFlying GrampaKenCanada

    Thx for your review, I just did my flights :) Not bad quad, but I'm still more happy with my jjrc h11wh, takes better and faster turns and decents faster. In other ways, it just reacts lots faster :)

      that's because the Syma is more for video so you don't want fast yaw when filming.

    I had the Syma X5HW version before this and since I had it for a long time it broke, so I decided to buy this one today and since I had extra batteries for the X5HW I thought maybe it would also be able to connect to the X5UW version. I tried it, and it worked. It's a bit awkward placing the other drone's battery in there since it is shaped differently. But if you're careful you can use the X5HW version. I do not own any X5's so if you do, and it's not the X5HW, you should still try. Might save a couple of bucks on not having to spend money for more batteries. Hopefully this comment hellped you. It took a long time to write it.

    I purchased this particular drone from UK and now I have it in Bali, Indonesia but unfortunately it's not working properly. When I start and try to hover it tends to fly forward!
    Now when I turn on the controller and the drone the lights on both continue to flicker and won't go to constant to fly it!! Nobody here in Indonesia can service or repair it if in fact that's what it needs.
    Can any one out there help me sort it out? Thanks in anticipation. Paul.

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Ingram that's hard to diagnose. Have you tried calibrating the gyros?

    • @paulingram3877
      @paulingram3877 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RD's Drone Reviews I can't get it to fly now because the lights keep flashing and won't go Constant, the lights just go out on the drone eventually!

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's too bad. I really don't know what to tell you. Have you tried a new battery? The battery could be bad or even the charger. The lipo batteries do go bad over time.

  • @burning_lemons4514

    Can you do it so that you can just take off by yourself instead of doing the whole un arming thing? I have been flying drone cheap drone I got for Christmas one year, and it flew great!... But the one of the motors died. :(

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sh4rky da Shark yes, you can unlock the blades and manually takeoff but I don't recall if it's toe in or out. I no longer have the drone so I can't check.

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sh4rky da Shark if you had watched the video you'd see at the 17:20 mark I discuss how to manually take off. It took me 15 secs to find that. I apologize if I sound grumpy but it gets old when I'm asked questions I discuss in the review.

    • @burning_lemons4514
      @burning_lemons4514 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @RDsRCReviews

      Sh4rky da Shark it's ok bud! sorry for being so grumpy. I have so many people ask questions about things I already covered in the review that it's frustrating but you get a pass. Homework is much more important than toys. To answer your question, it's both sticks inwards to start the props then push up on the left stick to takeoff. Hope this helps.

    What is headless mode

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ez Kidd it's a beginners mode where the direction your push on the stick is the direction the drone will fly regardless the direction you're facing. It doesn't teach you how to keep orientation so I don't advise it and never demonstrate it in my reviews. here's a link to a more in-depth explanation.

    26:17 But it looks like you can't see the horizon at level camera angle. To me that's pointing down too low and still you only basically get ground below you. The camera not being adjustable is a BIG minus, rendering it basically useless as a camera drone. At least if you could see the horizon and a small band of sky it would still be useful to some degree, but cos you (most probably) can't see the horizon, I give it the thumbs down as a camera platform.

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justwantahover I can't disagree with that. So many toy camera drones don't feature an adjustable camera which is unfortunate. My most recent drone review does have an adjustable tilt on the camera and flies nearly 15 mins and costs less than the X5UW.
