The Nets will disappear relatively speaking after next year, and the Lakers brought in names, not so much players. Melo sucks now, Westbrook is bad in the playoffs, and the other guys are jags who can shoot a little.
1) melo doesn’t suck, he probably would have been the Celtics best bench contributor last year lol 2) russ is still an all star caliber player, and they have lebron James and Anthony Davis, two borderline top 5 players. That alone gets you pretty far let alone all the pickups they had in free agency. 3) the nets just extended KD and are probably extending kyrie and harden as well
Romeo is going to be a very good guy off the bench if not a starter in the future. Injuries and some coaching has plagued him, but his summer league has been solid and he is a very good defender. I can see why he hasn’t been traded yet, and I think it’s better he fell to the Celtics instead of Herro. I’d give Romeo a chance this year to show what he can do, he seems much more confident overall and I think he’ll do well!
Nooo romeo is poo, have you watched him last year, don't be fooled by summer league, our 20pt lead got erased in half a quarter, he can't create a shot , very slow and no strong enough to be a 4 or 5 defender.. I called grant a bum 2 years ago and celtics fans defended him , I called romeo a bum last year and watch by the end of the year ,us celtic fans are gonna realize we gotta call a spade a spade l. Nesmith and Pritchard and tatum were the reason why we held the 7th spot last year ,2nd half of the season Nesmith did more than Langford ever did in all his years , Nesmith has more iq and hustle. it is super fluid, id love to say boston, but chicago and atlanta especially i expect to be very competetive. The celtics could have a legit great season, and still be in the play in, its just how competitive the east currently is.
I'm not so high on Langford, hasn't showed me enough like Pritchard and Nesmith have. Also don't care for G. Williams and his bad shooting, wish Brad would cut him. Keep up the good content!
Finally, someone who isn't all aboard the Romeo train. He's three years in, has barely even shown flashes of scoring skill, and more brittle than a Lay's potato chip.
To be completely fair, he’s dealt with a lot of injury. This is his first full offseason since going from high school to Indiana. He has potential for sure, we saw his excellent defense on James harden in the playoffs, and we have seen flashes of nice playmaking IQ, and he’s not a bad slasher either. If he can just tighten that handle a bit, and continue to shoot it as he has in this summer league I think he can contribute. But it’s not 100% fair to make assumptions at this point, if he’s that bad this year than sure but I’ll give him one more chance
Core Playoff Players: Tatum / Brown / Smart / Richardson / Schroder / Horfod are 6 core players. They will NOT see the Jump. In reg. season, R Williams, G Williams (Ainge & Stevens were hiding him LY to avoid package trade with Kemba to another team), Nesmith, Pritchard all will hv legit chance to make the Jump if given enough mins. With Kanter, that's top 10 games on roster. Langford is the odd man out as he is good on D but he hasn't honed his shot well enough to be consistently featured in top 10, based on his showing at Summer League. Personally, I like the chances of Nesmith & Pritchard to breakout as they can really shoot the lights out, esp Pritchard who has true Steph range. So in playoffs, my pick for the key young players are these 4 & Kanter will likely sit as he's a huge defensive liability & he cannot space floor. Apart from R Williams, EVERONE of the 9 players can shoot 3s while R Williams + 8 of the others except Nesmith can pass. If Celtics stays healthy, this is a very dangerous team.

Langford is athletic and a good defender, but hes gotta do a lot more on offense to earn solid minutes. He just really has not been an efficient scorer so far
These Celtics got a squad this year a lot of people sleeping. They’ve brought back solid bigs in Horford, and Kanter. Defense in Richardson, Dunn, and Schroder. If Pritchard can continue his summer league playmaking, and shooting all the guards ahead of him in the rotation now are in trouble. On top of this Nesmith is looking more confident. Hauser looks like he might be a nice catch and shot guy, and Tatum, and Brown have another year, and a gold metal under there belt. I don’t think there Nets or Bucks level yet but there closer to teams like Philly, and Atlanta than people think. This groups starting lineup only played around 7 games together last season, and they had one of the worst benches in the league, and still ended up a 7 seed. If they can stay healthy it’s gg’s and if not they have personal to win some of those games now.
Not trying to sound cocky, and even with our garbage bench, but had Atlanta played a healthy Boston squad Jaylen and Jayson would have put them in a blender.
How are you supposed to step up if the Boston Brass keeps signing guys to free agent contracts putting you further down the bench and limiting your minutes. How are these guys supposed to develop and grow into solid players ? That's why you draft players and teach them to get better in your system while playing. Not let them rot on the vine !
Nesmith is gonna be Kyle Korver who's willing to die on the court, and Pritchard is Fred Vanvleet. Romeo, Grant and Carsen can be packaged for a jar of pickles, and even then you might only get half a jar.
Games against teams like the Kings really show you just how good Pritchard and Nesmith really is. They are not good and it showed in this game. They played against real athletes and it showed. Neither of these player have improved Much from last year. Nesmith can’t dribble the basketball so he want be creating anything off the Dribble but turnovers.
I have to disagree. They are not rookies and just played a season. Pritchard was a very viable candidate for an all rookie team, and was a solid contributor all year. Nesmith came into his own at the end of the year. And his ball handling has clearly improved, just some trouble with tight handle in traffic, that’s fixable stuff. He’s still a good shooter and defender with some good off ball IQ. They are good, and will continue to be good. One game doesn’t change that.
Finally someone who sees this team the way I do.. they’re so much better and if Rob can stay healthy they’re a title contender for sure
