“He made a horrible mess of the blood fountain.”
“Looks fine to me.”
“IT USED TO BE WATER!”
HFIL regular here
Bye son
That's what you get for not staying on Snake way.
Yush! DBZA FTW
WE ARE GOING TO PUMP! YOU UP!
Simon just running around, breaking all kinds of things throughout Vladimir's castle.
No wonder he holds a grudge with "the Belmont" - every time he wakes up for more than five minutes, one of those jerks is in his castle eating his pot roasts, killing is staff, and causing a horrible mess!
For future reference, pretty sure the cross necklace is called a Rosary
It absolutely amazes me how resilient Jared is to good game design. He complains about the bones skulls and spiders while IGNORING the fact the devs put a stop watch at the opening of that area. You know, an item that slows time and could vastly help with dodging projectiles😅
Jared is like Bart Simpson playing Paper Rock Scissors
“Good ol rock. Nothing beats rock”
After killing so many wall masters in Legend of Zelda, now you have to face all the wall widows you left behind!
The boomerang card seems really powerful, especially against multiple enemies for crowd control.
It plus crit plus half-cost makes every boss a cakewalk.
its the most busted sub weapon. Useless on death though.
This game seems so lovingly designed. It gives Metroidvania a GOOD name and not an overused one. Looking forward to the next episode Jerd. 🙂👍
Different attack speeds/mechanics for the elemental whips is a nice touch that I wasn't expecting.
Equipment spoilers
It's just a shame the last whip you get is so lame. It's basically a worse flame whip. Sure it's the fastest whip, but it only does a paltry 3 damage and you can't even hold it like the flame whip.
It might have been more useful in the early game, but the fact it's one of the last upgrades you get just tanks it's effectiveness when you have better options.
@@kyuubinaruto17 I kept sticking with the flame whip for the rest of the game. Its just so OP most of the time
@@Erlisch1337 I do want to take back my earlier dismissal of the thunder whip. The game has 4 achievements, each tied to beating the game. Beat it, beat it 100%, beat it in under 2 hours, and beat it with 15% or less item completion. Since 12% of that is progression items that means a maximum of 3 upgrades or cards.
I was really struggling with some of the final bosses until I remembered the thunder whip. Since you can attack so fast it makes it easier to refill your life with the healing card in a pinch and it's the only reason I got the final achievement.
@@kyuubinaruto17actually, its amazing if you use it with the right card
This game is just a treat. I kinda wish the person or people that made it had their own IP they could have slapped over this and made money off it. They deserve it.
they really didn't even need to change much as most of these monsters are public domain type generic monsters. at this point I think even Dracula is public domain.
There's a billion metroidvania style games like this one. I agree that it seems to be well made, but I'm not confident it would shine through the pile without the recognizable title.
@@_korbo_ I kind of agree. A lot of this game's charm comes from knowing it's a remake of the original Castlevania. Without that, it would just be another generic metroidvania game. A well-made one, but still generic.
8:42 Clever damage boost technique. 20:19 Superhero landing. You know that's really hard on your knees.
I just toggled over to see if there was a new video, and lo and behold! We love lots of numbers
Reminds me of when you cast a really strong spell in Final Fantasy and you see 999999999 (etc.) damage slowly register. So satisfying.
I love this series already but I've gotta say that the underground mine theme is amazing
ENCHANTED TRADER: "Ah, long time no see, Mr Jared. What?! Card Sailor?! How dare you!" ;P
This game is greatly designed ! It mixes original Castlevania with Symphony of the night with fragments of other Castlevania games . Like the design of card menu is very similar to card system from Circle of the moon ( but actually works like charms from Hollow knight ). I love how they did it . I wish they would make a metroidvania game from Castlevania Rondo of Blood , even with old graphics it would look and feel great !
Snagging that 2nd upgrade on the first screen of the game before progressing further was awesome
Those Water Blobs are clearly Ice X-Parasites from Metroid Fusion!
The Boomerang Card's a good purchase, I used that, the Crit card and the one that lets you heal after every few strikes for the majority of the game.
Some locations reference to others from the original Castlevania , you can find heart or hp upgrade at the same place where was wall meat in the original game . Also some locations are referred to locations from Symphony of the night like waterway with endless merman spawning , or castle courtyard witch refers to Olrox quarters from SoTN , but the design is the same as the first level of Rondo of Blood , my favourite location from this game !
5:07 Jared that's not a dog it's a cat
It has a dog attached to its butt
@@Oniphireit’s Catdog!
It literally says leopard. Was driving me nuts too
5:50 boy that sure was fun to watch...
If I had one *nitpick* of this game - meaning it is *great* but there's something that _might_ make it better - is I wish it handled subweapons more like Castlevania 2.
*Just let me slowly unlock and keep subweapons.* They absolutely can and probably should still require "hearts" to use, but I enjoy being allowed to select the subweapon I want for a particular section based on all of them I've "unlocked" instead of what I can carry to or find within a stage. *What we have is still good!* I'd just prefer it the other way, as I'd feel more free to experiment. As is, by the time I had a solid idea of the layouts and enemy placements I'd 100%-ed the game. Meaning, not a lot of incentive to go back and experiment with the others now that I was free to do so.
It's still for all intents and purposes a variation of Castlevania 1, forcing one subweapon at a time and scattering the subweapons around the castle (though whether it keeps the original NES version's placement or it uses the placement of a different version like Sharp X86000/Chronicles or even Haunted Castle is up for debate). Even Symphony of the Night kept subweapon equipping like this, for better or worse, and that's been praised as the savior of the franchise many times over.
The downside to that though is then they get spread across the entire game. It would severely limit your options for most of the game because you wouldn't have access to them. Maybe having a permanent unlock later on or pay to switch but having that instant variety early on is great. Also I love how they give you a weapon that is good in that region. The book kinda sucks overall but it's good in the areas you get it that have like medusa spam. You get axes in the vertical areas and such. It gives you a choice of using something tailored for that region or sticking with ol' reliable.
@@CaptainTrevino A most excellent point and one I didn't properly consider; if the subweapons were *immediately* permanent, the game has to either be redesigned or you get to suffer if what *you* want for an area isn't the same as what you've already acquired... and the doling out of subweapons would also need to be slower. A later option to permanently retain them might be a good compromise.
The skeleton with the blue armor at 24:53 immediately made me think of the terrible Virtual Hydelide game where the digitized actor wears the Fairy Armor.
Watching Jared play this made me download the game. It's a lot of fun. Currently stuck on Dracula. He's gotten quite the buff in both forms.
And, most likely, prepare for a wasted episode next time. Jared missed wall jumping the one wall in the latest area which would have given him the next upgrade he needed to progress.
yes, him ignoring to climb that wall made me go and play it myself just to check what was there lol.
So awesome to see all the progress you're making!
I think given what we know about the fire whip, I'd have picked an upgrade for something other than boomerangs. Axe maybe? Not that you could have known that ahead, but things to think about for a replay, or a viewer playing it.
I'm definitely enjoying this take on castlevania
This is such a fun re imagining of the original game. Hope to see more of it.
The Stone Man enemies are incredibly easy to kill without getting hurt, it only jumps straight up and jumps when you do so... just jump and attack repeatedly and it and its smaller brethren'll never progress towards you.
More specifically it checks if you're in the air at an elevation higher than it to determine when to jump.
Hope ya keep going with the series!
Two double mummy kills with the flame whip!
Holy shit! He actually went back for the life up at the beginning!
From just two episodes of this series I already felt a need to play through this myself, and after a couple of days of playing it whenever I could and combing every inch of the map I 100%ed it. You're in for a treat Jared you truly are. That being said, progress for this next part might be a little tricky for you, but just remember to keep checking everywhere on the map and I do mean EVERYWHERE that you haven't already looked/uncovered.
how did it take you days? Its super short. Thought I only finished with 86% items.
28:24 The numbers, Duke! The numbers!
I haven't stopped liking this.
Love to see this channel getting what looks like a lot of reaction to this game: Support Jerd!
That fire whip ... finally a Castlevania game with accurate whip physics
((another edit but Imma put it here: The creator behind ReVamped did SO good with this!))
2:00 FIRST TRY!!! So proud of you, young whippersnapper!
Yer younger than me and snapping a whip. Shut up. But FIRST TRY! 🤘
edit: 7:02 FIRST TRY AGAIN! This here Jerd, he Pro. So good...
7:17 he called a leopard a fricken dog. No respect fer the kitteh.
29:49 Sweet Mega Evolved Lord Amber, there's X-Parasites! Welp, there goes THAT universe.
Really liking this series, exploration is super fun and each upgrade encourages more backtracking than actual which is weird, but better in the long run ✌🏼 keep completing it!
5:15 FINALLY! I've waited for this.
It's fun seeing you have fun
THIS IS SO FUN!!~
"It feels slower" have you ever tried to swing fire? It's like moving through molasses
Gotta say theres a little glitch in the game (that helps you to gain money), that if you buy the heavy boots that deny the knockback when you are hitted, after you beat a boss the game take it as you have beat it without taking damage and reward you with a crown (that gives you $1500 more or less)
Ol' One Chicken Jared.
This game looks sooooo cool I love it. Its got less choices and equipment that SOTN of but it also makes it like a middle step between the 2.
Loving this series so much! Crazy how good fan made games can be! This looks like an official release, and i would definitely want to buy it if it released on console (xbox would be sweeeeeeet!)
I love that the game gives you an indication when there's an item.. I absolutely hate missing items but I definitely couldn't be bothered to check every inch of the levels.
I wonder if you do the same hold move for the Thunder Whip. 'ThunderCats Ho!'
Thank you for the fun time
So glad you got the life up at the beginning~! Huzzah~!
Such a cool game and a very entertaining watch.
FIREWHIP!!!
Man... Projared finally does a very cool move and guess what?!
His cam is in the way... :c
"whip me to see the cards I sell" "AHHHHH ssssssssss oooo"
It isn't skeleton meat, Jared.
It's bonemeal.
Booooooo
Tomba!
I get it. The Flame Whip does chip damage very quickly because it's Rapid Fire.
This game is amazing
Awesome
Oh hey, he found it before the tail end of the series!
I'm a big Castlevania fan, but I can't play this fangame rn. These videos brighten up my days.
I hope there’s an item that lets you store and switch between subweapons.
i am having a good time, with you jared
Finally my soul is at peace
This is the best
So how is Jerd getting the damage number popups?
EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't see the other feature of the critical card.
Why is the Playlist backwards, still a good series.
number go up good
i wonder if the cold whip will freeze things into blocks you can jump on
Hey if you like this you should also check out the castlevania rouge-lite for Aria of Sorrow
There is a water movement upgrade called the Aquatic Armor. You don't really nab it until closer to the end of the game though because of how its blocked off.
they should do nes port of this game
I'm just wondering if you'll fight a merman boss and get something for underwater movement. Like flippers.
Since it's a Castlevania 1 variant, the bosses would be taken from the versions of Castlevania 1, though I don't know yet if there's any New Game Plus or other extra content.
I finished the game yesterday... man does the laurel break the game with certain cards and enough upgrades.
Does it now? Maybe I'll try that loadout in my own playthrough...
My whip attack lasts 3 seconds too
HE FINALLY GOT THE LIFE UP
Ow. Fire hot.
Downloaded and played this last night, currently hunting for the electric/lightning whip having a good time.
Down in Front! Move your head!
Don't you hate it when panthers are dogs?
As for the game itself, I feel like a lot of Jared's troubles would be solved with a different sub weapon. I get that he likes the cross, but a lot of his deaths throughout the game could've been prevented by having a weapon like the axe or rosary that can better zone enemies who are difficult to fight with the whip. Whereas the crowd control capabilities of the cross are much more just like a second whip.
it is a great looking game, but can I ask to either move the camera down to the bottom corner, make the window smaller, or just not have it on at all? cause some of the things you are looking at or doing with where the camera window is currently blocking all of that action. Otherwise great work on the series here.
Or make the camera a little less opaque. It’s bothered me a bit too
Its not ghost meat. Its clearly mystery meat
Yay more of this awesome game! Left this comment after reporting all the sex bots
Why this is happening to Projared?
I naturally bring the sex.
@ProJaredPlays Well yeah! Thats what that whole stupid controversy was about afterall! Chicks dig nerdy guys nowadays!
@@janusricardarvis all popular channels get filled with sex bots nowadays
@@Grimm-Gaming so we are finding them here because there isn't a ton of comments to bury them.
Searching for items with the whip is this game's Simon's Quest holy water.
I know where you need to go and it's kinda annoying to figure out with the map lol.
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
Castle Courtyard. Yes, he explored this area, but there is one square he did *not* explore.
Print off a full map and use a marker to mark shit, save some time.
God I hate the new TH-cam layout. Whenever I switch from not full to full screen it removes the white Thumbs Up so I don't see if I already liked the video or not.
First
No more pokemon game? wanted more u.u
Guess the views weren't great. Curse you youtube!
He probably would have stopped at the Elite 4. They are incredibly brutal in Pocket Crystal League
Views weren't great and honestly it gets way too grindy for its own good.
@@ProJaredPlays I get it! The game seems to have a set difficulty for every area and when just squeaked your last gym victory the next road was too brutal for your team.
Well that only means I can play it myself instead :P
