"Not rendered" hall, the "mirror glitch" and the "outside" before Grim Reaper boss are actually refferences to Castlevania Chronicles.
Hey Jared, just letting you know that you're suffering from the same glitch I noticed... basically if you turn your game size from 1x to anything else, everything will be fine until you restart the game, at which point some kind of buffer or something will be broken and it hurts a bunch of the game's more elaborate effects (which is why when you do the air dash in one direction it looks different from when you do the air dash in the other direction).
To fix it, all you need to do is set your scale settings back to 1x, turn off full screen, reset the game, then put it back the way you want it.
There is now a version 1.1 of this game. I wonder if that fixes it? I think Jared started the original version (unless he upgraded mid-way through the game, if that's even possible).
(I couldn't find a changelog, so I don't know what the developer changed.)

What makes me laugh is that the insane attack at 7:44 uses up so much of the video's maximum bitrate on all the crud flying across the screen, that there's nothing left over for your facecam, so your face becomes blurry during the attack 🤣
I thought there was something wrong with my resolution.
It’s a little disappointing neither the Marble Gallery nor the Clock Tower have any secret items in it; I know by that point you would have all the upgrades, but they could’ve still had an optional room or two for that.
I kind of anticipated that the fight against Death would have a lot of scythes flying around, due to modern Castlevanias doing this, so I chose to use the Bible as my weapon against him and it was a pretty easy fight
The bible reduce the challenge against Death and Dracula A LOT
Axe and its card also shreds Death since he's constantly up above you.
I will give that a try when I face Death. 📖

Jared I believe the glitched area is mimicking Castlevania Chronicles Hall of mirrors before fighting death where there is a separate dimension inside the mirrors and the wall was just hiding it.
It was meant a disorienting thing on purpose.

You know, I JUST noticed that the "tail" of the fire dash always appears on the right side, no matter the direction you're dashing so sometimes it looks like a fire spike

Man I don't which tunes are just original songs with some spice and which ones are whole new remixes but the so many songs in this are bangers.

The scythe rain is basically Valefar's F-U coin rain from Bloodstained Curse of the Moon but more granular.
I was thinking of it more an an inverted version of the Rosary subweapon
It's basically the final segment of the descent in the 2nd level of Super Battletoads (before speed tunnel), but you don't die in one hit for touching the walls.

Weirdly enough since you said that, The Bible nullifies any kind of difficulty Death brings. 90% of attacks just disappear. Hallelujah!

stands there for the rest of the fight losing much more health because he "can" instead of dodging the easily dodged attack.
So frustrating watching him lose one or two hit points while only getting a couple of the several hits he needs to regain one hit point, over and over again, while using what might be the worst possible choice of whip for that fight.
I find it impressive that the entire Castlevania series hinges on the assumption that of all the demonic "creatures of the night" in traditional fantasy fiction and various mythologies and lores that the one most powerful above all able to lead and command them is a vampiric fictionalized version of the real-life Vlad III Tepes, Count Dracula, prince of Wallachia in Romania, aka "Vlad the Impaler."
in fairness, exerting mental control over others is a classic vampire thing. it's not like he's the BEST monster, he's just the one with the mental voodoo.
@@KairuHakubi True, I can definitely see that combined with the -iron will- Iron Blue Intent (I couldn't resist ;) ) of the man infamously known as The Impaler. Bram Stoker's Dracula, for example, had a lot of him exerting influence over others throughout the novel and the '90s movie adaptation, and the original NES Castlevania technically parodied the old Christopher Lee portrayal of that Dracula if the credits are anything to go by.
Well to be fair Dracula is empowered by the evil of man, which is basically an inverted version of Goku's Spirit Bomb. Not only that but he has the wisdom and knowledge of having lived for centuries. Lastly, he has the same superpower as Batman, 💰💰💰

Glitch or not, at least that area wasn't as bad as the Submarine Shrine in the NTSC version of Lufia 2.
As for the boss, I feel like he should be swapping weapons more frequently. Using the ice whip to deal damage, then switching to the fire whip whenever needing to deal with the sickles.
How in blazes did Trevor defeat that foppish bastard when he can rain an infinite number of scythes from the sky like he's Mario RPG's Smithy or something?!

To Jared! Some of the areas in this game are based around the ones in Castlevania Chronicles on the PSone like the toy room and Underground Caverns.
Lot of progress, but the most funny bit was Jerd perplexed at the Marble Gallery's mirror, fun times ✌🏼 yes please take your time to complete this game 🍷

dont get your hopes up, its not 4 different endings, think of it like achivements, theres only 1 ending. nothing different happens for the others

It bothers me that the metal whip is just there. Is it faster than the ice whip but hit harder per strike than the fire whip? Or is the metal whip useless once you get the fire whip?
Metal whip deals 8 damage, Ice deals 16, I think a full hit with Fire Whip is more than 8 but not sure if it's more than 16.
I feel like the metal whip is just the middle of the road weapon. Lacking all of the strengths, but also all of the weaknesses of the other whips. But just like Mario in Super Mario Bros. 2, that middle of the road option just winds up being useless because all the other options are simply better despite their drawbacks.
Toy Room has the best music - fight me! I won't do it in 2 hours fuck no 100% was enough for me.
That electric whip just seems like a straight downgrade from the two whips that come before it. In the time it takes to do 3 damage with it, it looks like you can do 6-8 damage with the fire whip. So its speed is not even an asset.
From my experience, if you want to heal with the whip healing, the best option is the lightning whip. The healing procs after a certain number of hits, but the flame whip, when held out, still only seems to count as one hit until it's swung again.
Cardiac Strike and Laurel would be the way to go with the Grim Reaper I think.

Heart of Fire is so good, I play it all the time in FF14 on BRD performance, wish that stage was longer in this game. Surreal hearing it again after Jared fought Julius in Dawn of Sorrow lol

I played through the game several times to get through all the 4 achievements. I think I was on my 3rd run when I started having that glitch happen, and it didn't start until after I watched the episode where it started happening to him, which I found very amusing.
I've tried restarting it, and it doesn't help. I don't know what causes it.

Death will likely be easier if you use the Axe or Good Book subweapons. It is much easier when you use the right subweapon for the job.

@@localvega688 it doesnt look all that hard though, i think jared made it harder by trying to use one of the worst whip choices(for this fight) and trying to farm health from the scythe attack when he could just avoid the damage by following the super generous opening.
he was getting maybe 4-6 damage per hit on the boss with the whip, wouldnt the ice whip have been hitting for 16? most of his damage came from the boomerangs when they were in an ideal spot
If anyone wants to cheese through it - laurel, laurel card... with all the health and heart upgrades, nothing is going to kill you because the laurel is cheap and will heal 2x a pop. Removes the challenge. though.
I was gonna use the heal whip card with it but never needed it. Just kept the crit and familiar cards on the whole game. Using mostly the ice whip because you do so little damage otherwise.

@@demonking41-l8j Is he using the Castlevania name and IP to make something out of the game that he made? Then it is bootleg in the "old man" sense of the word. You can parse and change and call it whatever you want: He is using someone else's IP to make a game and "cash in" on the attention, which he will benefit from in the future in some other monetary way (either by getting a job with a developer or using the acclaim from this game to make a new game that will sell).
And if you don't think he will benefit from it monetarily, that is where our real difference of opinion is.
Let's also go this route: If he made the game without Castlevania tied to it, made all the assets unique, made the music unique, would this game sell? Probably not.
Better to get attention with an IP you don't own than one that you do own.

I think your game is glitching like crazy. The flame shouldn't be "permanent" like it seems with you nor should the mirror above the save point do that, or that one hall that just didn't render.
