The book "Caffeine Blues" is a real eye opener. I quit because of sleep issues. It takes awhile to turn that around especially because that is ultimately connected to adrenaline overload and things other than caffeine cause that, but it definitely helps! Excess adrenaline and cortisol from caffeine, sugar and stress are the big issues for all health problems. Quitting caffeine, sugar and other foods that over stimulate the adrenals and blood sugar spikes, which also stimulate adrenaline release, is so important along with addressing unresolved emotional trauma, learning to regulate our emotional responses, etc. Also eating soluble fiber super important for helping excess hormones come out of our GI tract-soluble fiber is the only thing that binds the hormones that the liver secretes for disposal. If we aren't eating soluble fiber at regular intervals throughout the day, every day, those hormones will be recycled and are still physiologically active, which causes overload. The best sources of soluble fiber are legumes-beans, peas, lentils-and psyllium husk. Thanks for sharing this topic, really under acknowledged, especially in the U.S.! Blessings!
I have seen MANY other videos and comments about people that have quit. I did it myself and agree with what people are saying. I have more energy throughout the day, I think better, and have less stress. I used green tea at first and then phased it out later. The main reason I quit was because of the headaches.
Very good summary, I'm on Week 10, I quickly realized that I wasn't addicted (no headaches/withdrawal), but the ritual was the biggest part. I quit coffee before but the headaches and withdrawals were bad and I read and believed more that it was good for you, so I returned. Then I quit again with no affects and figured, 'I'm not addicted anyway, so I'll just moderate it.' Finally I looked again after keeping it moderate and found more support like this to just quit it (nice to hear a 25 year old was also crashing at 1 and 5, and it wasn't age). I saw it as a challenge in early Oct and said by Nov. I'll have broken the habit, let's see what happens. I sleep deeper, when I do wake (still early, but not ridiculously early), I'm ready to go. I don't need afternoon nap and am active well into night like now. My teeth are whiter, my pee is clearer and my energy is more consistent. It's a drug we've been sold for years, just say no.
I was never much of a coffee drinker throughout my life until I ended up at this manufacturing plant and I started morning nights. Worked nights for 7yrs and coffee became a crutch and a go to and it became habitual. Even after I got off night work I was already under caffeines boot a decade later I can't go a single day without at least 1 cup. So that's 1 cup at least for 10yrs. Over this time I developed panic attacks and anxiety, heart palpitations on and off. Tried to kick it and was net with a violent series of withdrawal symptoms. So right at that moment I knew that anything which has that kind of effect on me if I were to leave it probably is very very bad.. so here I am, on my journey to kick coffee and caffeine all together. I've had 1 cup in the last 4 days... I'm making headway and I heard quitting helps sleep and you begin to dream again which means REM sleep. I sure would like to sleep better! So here's to a cleaner and more stimulant free life
I’m on day 4 and definitely feel the increase in hunger. But I also feel way more calm and my road rage has completely disappeared. The lack of stress and anxiety has me sold on it. Also it’s good that if I really need a pick me up, coffee will have a bigger effect if I don’t regularly drink it.

I noticed as I'm going through the change just slight up from drinking coffee , but it is making me sleepy I don't consume soda , but coffee has always been my to go get in the morning, I don't know why it's strange , maybe caffeine tolerant is high but some hormones must be low
I think you eat bad.. i know none having this issue.. maybe some fat people who used to eat sweats with coffee... but for most of normal people coffee means we skip snacks other people do every day.. it can block 5 unhealthy snacks...
There are reports that it can either suppress or increase appetite. There are several mechanisms in each why this would happen. When I was in my 20s, coffee was a big appetite suppressant. In my 30s, it's made my stomach immediately growl after consumption. Some research shows it can increase ghrelin/gastric acid in certain people which would be a understandable explanation. I've lost weight since stopping coffee/caffeine simply because I don't feel nearly as hungry!
@@bleo8371 You skip snacks only right after consuming it, it activates gluconeogensis so your body makes sugar out of stored glucagon in the liver and muscles, then it inhibits the creation of insulin, so the sugar fills your blood stream. So ya you won't feel the need to it while your blood is full of stored sugar. Plus it fills your blood stream with adrenaline/norepinephrine and dopamine, but in a way that overly taxes your adrenals. It's not good to be consuming coffee every day.
One of the biggest eye openers for me was when I cut out coffee for a week and then I said I'd microdose coffee on this first day. I basically poured 1/10th of a single shot and then some hot water. That tiny bit of caffeine sent me crazy. So can only imagine how those 2/3/4 shots in a single cup affects our brain
I consider health a state of balance. A lot of people are resilient enough to handle coffee, but I think we’ll see that as our environment continues to degrade we will become less able to manage the stress that caffeine imposes on our physiology, and more and more of us will become increasingly sensitive to the deleterious effects of coffee.
That is great to hear it has helped your energy. I am on day 5 of no caffeine and added sugar, and I feel so exhausted. Ugh. It’s good to hear that will hopefully be gone within the month!
I have had the exact same experience as you! 🥺 (abstaining from caffeine three weeks now). Also cold turkey, and was sooo so hungry 😳😅 the best incorporation I've found for morning routine is fresh juice and a small soup 🥺🙏 so filling in the early hours and will perk you up for a good start at work 😍😍😍
I’m on day 6 and it’s like Wow so much better I miss the rush it gives and routine of the treat 1/2 shot soy Capp every day but I trade it for calmer any day 🙏🙂💕thanks for sharing
I was never a coffee drinker but I started drinking coffee during chemo to keep functioning throughout the day. I really want to quit for some of the same reasons you have, like I yawn allll the time in the afternoon! I have tried to quit once, but I hated feeling like I am missing that part of the morning routine. You’re motivating me to try again
I can totally relate to how you felt!! I also relied on it a lot during chemo to help me get through the days - it was a positive little part of my morning routine that I really loved (and that would convince me to get out of bed if I’m being honest). The important thing is to replace it with something else so you can still keep that same routine 😊🫶🏼 in part 2, I’m going to share some AMAZING drinks to try instead!!
There should be a caffeine addicts anonymous and instead of serving coffee you can have a beer. As far as sleeping an hour of vigorous exercise during the day and cutting screens at night will help! Also I've found women are typically more energetic at night opposed to men, might just be the way of the world
I’ve spending all my time in Coffeeshop drinking coffee and eating nothing but coffee shop food. It’s kind of ruined my wallet health and family even jobs.

I just came across your video. I went 4 days without coffee (Just really busy and it's been hot out so was drinking more water). Today I had a cup and I can feel my anxiety and depression so much more. I right away knew the coffee most likely triggered these feelings. I'm definitely going to stop drinking coffee. I've also been on a smoothie kick lately so hoping that'll be in my morning routine rather than coffee. 😊
I buy frozen ginger cubes and use them to make ginger tea w cayenne. Also lots of lemon water. Coffee was causing me crippling crashes and messing up my stomach and V health.
if you still experience difficulty to fall asleep after eliminating coffee altogether then probably you are doing some of these things. 1. still having caffeine from black or green tea. caffeine derivative of teas remains for a long period of time in blood than the one found in coffee. 2. eating sugary foods, or refined carbohydrates. caffeine alters metabolism of carbohydrates through cortisol and insulin. after quitting caffeine, care must be taken for eating foods that have high glycemic index because they also have stimulating effect on the brain. limit them for once or twice a week. 3. you are probably eating too close to the bed time. you should not eat anything atleast 3 hours before bed. again, eating releases certain harmones in your blood that disrupts your sleep. . if you are doing any one of these i hope this will help you. . caffeine has an alternative effect on different people. it makes some people fall asleep faster, while harder for other people to sleep. but it definitely doesn't let both types of people to experience good amount of deep sleep.
I recently quit alcohol and never thought that I would actually be able to do it. A friend introduced me to non alcoholic beer, and it changed my life. Coffee seems much harder. I love love coffee, but it completely ruins my digestion. I ignored it for so long, but I can't keep sacrificing for my coffee addiction. I want to try caffeine powder to help me at the start. I halfed my coffee consumption so far and started to drink grain coffee with a tea spoon black strap molasses. I am taking it slow. Hopefully, I can fight this battle.
It's crazy how much coffee college students now drink. I went to college in the 90's--I'm like super old--and basically no one drank coffee. There were no cafes on my campus. Not even a Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. I walked around campus a few years ago and now there's like 5. But my problem switching to tea is I always crave coffee. When I've gone 100% caffeine free my cravings are less. You should consider trying going completely without--although that adjustment is not for the faint of heart.
I'm doing it, no caffeine, not in tea, in soda, none. I don't miss the taste of coffee or soda at all. I'm about the same age and have seen a few discussions of 'coffee since college.' I always thought I was too young, then started pulling all-nighters until one guy brought over his coffee pot and I realized people were avid drinkers. I never did no-doze either, which was popular (like Mtn. Dew before the energy drinks). Much later, like more recently I started seeing high schoolers in places like Starbucks and just thought, 'what the hell?' Nowadays I see teens on e-bikes. Then 20 year olds with Viagra. Young folks don't need any of that stuff, I'd argue no one does. It's a drug, folks.
Same, here. I was in college in the late 90s/early 2000s, and literally nobody I knew drank coffee. Sodas, yes, but not in the extreme. It just wasn’t a thing. Now, I have a daughter in high school and while she doesn’t drink coffee, so many of her friends do. Full on Venti lattes, every day. It’s wild.
Everything you described is exactly how I feel on coffee. I’m on day two and so far. Going to go for at least a month to see how I feel at the end and see if coffee is indeed the contributing factor.
I've only drank coffee maybe 10 times in my lifetime, never cared for it. I don't eat breakfast, either. I just wake up, drink some water and wait till lunch and dinner.
People neglect the drinking water part. I do that first thing now, never coffee...main way I stopped. I'd wake, have big glass of water and not allow coffee for like two hours. Soon I kept the water routine but never had the coffee. That first month I may have had a cup of decaf, twice. No more. Habit broken.
I cut out coffee for the same exact reasons, but soon there after I realized that I’m the type of person that needed some form of hot liquid when I wake up. I am trying to find the best alternative outside of just plain hot water. That’s boring. 😅
Like your story. I been without coffe for 3 months after 30 plus years. Its getting a little easir to stay awake. I replaced it with chicory root tea because i had toquit it was not by choice.
Thanks for your video. I was surprised when you said at the start of the video that you had trouble staying awake to midnight, when I was 25, I didn't know anyone who had that problem. Anyway, I haven't had coffee for four out of the previous 5 days. I originally intended to go cold turkey so I did one caffeine free day. It wasn't that bad except for a gassy stomach (was it because of the lack of coffee - I don't think so). The next day I had two cups but I haven't had one since. Just English tea and green tea. I want to go caffeine free at least for a few weeks to see if anything is different. My reasons, I'm in my 50's and I doubt if I had a period without coffee since my early teens. I just want to know if there's a difference. I'm also giving up alcohol this month too. There have been times in my life when I was drinking 5-7 cups a day but recently it's more like 2-3. The way I drink coffee has definitely changed, it used to be instant but know it's freshly ground coffee. I also used to love Latte but I've been black for the past 3-4 years. I liked your review and was also surprised when you said you found it harder to fall asleep at night. I've heard of other people that their sleep has much improved since they given up coffee. I guess we're all individual and I'll soon find out if my sleep is better or worst.
Hey hey just wondering, are of polish descent? I quit coffee for 2 weeks at most and felt great, I think by 3rd day I slept like somebody knocked me out of this world and it was so refreshing. I feel more relaxed (I feel it deep into my tissues), stable energy throughout the day, mentally stable and feeling overall very chill, not much bothers me, no anxiety, no mood swings or anger at all. I've been drinking coffee since I was 20 for 10 years now and it's such a drug. I will one day get to the point where I don't touch it but man I love the smell, the taste and ritual of it.
I drink 3 to 5 coffees a day, and I really think my tolerance to it at 36 has decreased, now I may feel very anxious and with problems to have deep rest at night, that's how I've got here. I've quit on alcohol since 8 years and smoking since 2, but coffee seems even more difficult to do ☕😔
Same story here. Quit the booze, cigarettes and weed years ago and thought I would keep one guilty pleasure but even that I'm finding is becoming an issue. I also developed anxiety and panic disorders and I'm sure caffeine is one of the main reasons. It's funny that everyone I know that has anxiety or panic disorders overuses caffeine.
Switch to decaf first, then reduce the number of cups, then switch to no coffee after 1pm. You are drinking a lot currently, it’s no wonder you can’t rest! Buy some herbal tea as you obviously love the action of drinking something, so you just need to replace what you are drinking ✨
I’m on day 1 and I feel sluggish. I’m 32 and have been a coffee addict since I was 15. I decided to stop to see if my gut issues clear up! Coffee makes me go to the bathroom like crazy and honestly it has been making me miserable. I’m always bloated and feel like crap. My teeth are yellow. It’s not worth it anymore. I’m going to start drinking herbal tea and maybe warm milk in the morning so I keep my morning ritual.
I'm about to try and quit coffee after I finish my last coffee container. I've been drinking coffee since I was 10 years old. These days I usually have about 5 or more coffees a day. And sometimes tea instead. I don't drink coffee to stay awake. I drink it either if I'm bored and trying not to snack, or if I'm hungry and can't be bothered eating yet. I also just really love the taste of my specifically made coffee. I've quit coffee once before and was fine, no withdrawals. Though, being summer time helped back then. However, this time around I feel like I'm gonna have coffee cravings 😭. I want to find out if my heart palpitations will ease, and my crippling anxiety and stress might get better.
My name is iris I could not sleep 4 weeks cause of the coffee I'm 60 years old I had a serious headache and I'm diabetes and I have asthma and sinus congestion and acid reflux
I was on a coffee detox for 40 days. I didnt quit caffeine, i just replaced it with tea. My energy levels did improve, however looking back (as i now regularly drink coffee, and also tea) the reason was because before my detox i was regularly having starbucks iced coffee. Essentially it was a starbucks detox 😂😂😂 I switched to mixing tea & instant coffee for mornings, and if I want, I have a mcdonalds iced coffee with light cream and extra ice in the afternoon (the extra ice dilutes the drink more). My energy isnt bouncing off the walls yet, but compared to my Starbucks days i feel way better. For me, I think that coffee has enough benefits to make it worth drinking at least semi regularly. It's enjoyable, and it helps me to consume less sugar. When I dont have coffee, I binge on donuts cookies etc for the dopamine spike. One small coffee a day, and I really dont want sugary things most of the time.
I stumbled over this Video somehow. I only drink decaf coffee in the morning when I want something hot. With a lot of oatmilk, otherwise it's to better. I just Google coffeine in decaf: up to 3%. I don't want that in my body. I didn't have coffee at home the last days so I drank Rosemary Tea. Which also has that slightly bitter wakening flavour. I also drink warm water with Leon but I sometimes Reich a point where certain things I eat or drink many times don't taste anymore. I think my next step up in my morning Routine is switching beetween Herbal teas like Rosemary, Sage, Green Tea and others.
If you do not want to quit cold turkey, try a mix of non-caffeinated Teeccino with coffee and give yourself about 2 weeks (or more, no rush) to work yourself down to pure herbal coffee Teeccino
Coffee makes me anxious and jittery and sometimes gives me stomach problems ,but I love the taste ,but I will definitely tried not drinking it ,I have anxiety and take meds for it so I have to stop drinking it I have no choice anymore
You mentioned that you haven’t quit all caffeine just coffee🤔 could it be the other sources of caffeine are keeping you awake at night? I’ve quit all caffeine and I fall asleep like a baby and sleep deep with wonderful dreams!! Just a thought ❤
My concern is I used to have most people saying I looked so young for my age and then suddenly I changed from looking nine years younger than what I actually was to just three years could that be due to my coffee intake
You seem like a gym girl lol, have you ever used preworkout? I started using it occasionally before the gym a few years ago to using it almost every gym session and since then have really been having negative side effects.
Hi,I was diagnosed with AML at age of 18 in the month of Feb this year and Finished my treatment in July 2022.I am really inspired by your videos..lots of love! So I have lost my weight since then so I want to know if you could give few tips to gain healthy weight and the do's and don'ts in eating. Thanks in advance 😌
Hi Tanu! Thank you so much for your comment. I actually experienced the complete opposite side effect that you did, as I ended up gaining weight due to being on steroids for months while I was undergoing treatment. I cannot speak on exact tips for weight gain ( I would definitely recommend working with a dietician or trainer for this!) But a well balanced diet with lots of proteins and healthy fats is a great starting point 😊
No caffeine for 36 hours, had so much more.peave and control, I had a coffee this afternoon and it was INSTANTLY the worst I felt! Like...NO GOOD from it.
I hated coffee all the time I was growing up until 23, when I was daily introduced to hotel coffee, every morning. Now I'm 74 1/2... (That's 51 1/2 years, isn't it). I have "more worser" problems than headaches (which I've hardly ever in my life had.) I get double vision, occasionally and balance issues. (Could be blood pressure) still, that morning cup (and ritual) is something hard NOT to desire and cave to. Wasn't it the movie star, Tom Hanks who told the girl in "News of the World", when she tasted the powder, "It's an acquired taste." So I've quit a few times. Far as I can see, the actual PHYSICAL dependency is gone in three days; greatest longing is 24 hours after your last "hit" (cup). Then, you should REALLY have a place to take a nap. But it's the "psychological dependency" That gets you!!! Why do you think they make all those cups with diagrams of "Coffee" written in so many different way on them? IT IS A VERY BIG BUISNESS, and they want YOU IN it! I have read from different sources that the coffee industry is second ONLY to the petroleum industry in cash turnover. That's a lot of BIG BUCKS, and that would also be reason , alone, to give givin' UP a shot, wouldn't it? Do they offer you this legal speed to keep you on the rat race grind conveyer belt... till you drop in the bin? All that altruism aside, I had my cup of half decaf / half "high test" this morning. It kept me goin', too, but I don't feel very good about it.
It's so weird all these videos people saying drank 2 to 3 coffee a day every time my cup is gone i make another until i attempt to sleep at night. I quit for 8 days after teeth whitening and had bad headache for couple days then was completely fine. I wish i never started again
Be careful young woman caffein lurks in spanish food chilli and will creep up on you at unexpecye Moment. Youve given me new hope to quit coffre again. Thank you.😅
You get headaches when quitting coffee cause caffeine is a vasoconstrictor(bad)... You have a headache cause tour blood vessels are dilating and opening up...
2-3 coffees a day... meanwhile in Norway the average person drinks 2-3 coffees before lunch and another 2-3 later in the day 😅 couple of years ago my average daily dose of coffee was about 1liter and sometimes more 🫠

Thanks for being so honest.
That's brave!
Thanks Amosuir for sharing. I am on day 30 without coffee. Feel better, but still has muscle pain on the should and neck.
Quiting caffeine was best decission ever. I wish I heard about negatives decades ago, so many wasted years and wasted potential because of coffee
if you still experience difficulty to fall asleep after eliminating coffee altogether then probably you are doing some of these things.
1. still having caffeine from black or green tea. caffeine derivative of teas remains for a long period of time in blood than the one found in coffee.
2. eating sugary foods, or refined carbohydrates. caffeine alters metabolism of carbohydrates through cortisol and insulin. after quitting caffeine, care must be taken for eating foods that have high glycemic index because they also have stimulating effect on the brain. limit them for once or twice a week.
3. you are probably eating too close to the bed time. you should not eat anything atleast 3 hours before bed. again, eating releases certain harmones in your blood that disrupts your sleep.
. if you are doing any one of these i hope this will help you.
. caffeine has an alternative effect on different people. it makes some people fall asleep faster, while harder for other people to sleep. but it definitely doesn't let both types of people to experience good amount of deep sleep.
It’s wild.
Hi, it is amazing all the benefits one gets just by quitting coffee. Trying to quit too, after more than 20 years of coffee addiction🎉😅
Thank you for the perfect explanation, it is my third day, hopefully it will be all okay in about 1-2 weeks
To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.
I love this ❤️
Everything you described is exactly how I feel on coffee.
I like your enthudiasm you keep it up girl. I m here if you need emotional support. I quit once already its not easy its just as bad as tobacco!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Yes I am polish! :) Best of luck in your quitting coffee journey! I totally agree, the taste and ritual were my favourite parts too!
Question? I drink coffee on antidepressants and cannot stay awake past 4pm. Would you think there is a correlation? 😮
Great video
Super informative video.... awesome !!!
Thank you very much!
Hello from Winnipeg Canada, I quit coffee and tea too, good experience!
I quit a month ago. Similar videos keep coming up.
Essentially it was a starbucks detox 😂😂😂
I switched to mixing tea & instant coffee for mornings, and if I want, I have a mcdonalds iced coffee with light cream and extra ice in the afternoon (the extra ice dilutes the drink more).
Great video! Wheres pt 2? Alternatives to coffee? Thx!
Day 1: Aug 20...bit nervous but I'M READY🤧
5 months later... How is it going? :)
@oxigen85 Hey, it lasted only two weeks and I had massive headaches and mood swings so I decided to go back 😢😢
I stumbled over this Video somehow.
I also drink homemade bone broth through out the day😃
It’s much more likely your exposure to sunlight is more correlated to your cortisol levels than caffeine intake. Specifically infared frequencies.
Use decaf , and Chicory .....with food its hardly noticeably different
You seem like a gym girl lol, have you ever used preworkout? I started using it occasionally before the gym a few years ago to using it almost every gym session and since then have really been having negative side effects.
2 choices, caffeine or a poor diet, mixing both is a disaster, anxiety goes way down when I remove one or the other, havnt mastered both yet lol
This is my exact same story
@@MagsBujalski Ok thank you so much!☺️
No caffeine for 36 hours, had so much more.peave and control, I had a coffee this afternoon and it was INSTANTLY the worst I felt! Like...NO GOOD from it.
Wait, did you drink it first thing in the morning? On an empty stomach? If you did, that's a big no. Drink it after eating breakfast.
hey do you have polish roots?
I drink a minimum of 8 cups of coffee per day…lol.
addict
I hated coffee all the time I was growing up until 23, when I was daily introduced to hotel coffee, every morning. Now I'm 74 1/2... (That's 51 1/2 years, isn't it). I have "more worser" problems than headaches (which I've hardly ever in my life had.)
I get double vision, occasionally and balance issues. (Could be blood pressure) still, that morning cup (and ritual) is something hard NOT to desire and cave to. Wasn't it the movie star, Tom Hanks who told the girl in "News of the World", when she tasted the powder, "It's an acquired taste."
So I've quit a few times.
Find out about the carnivore diet, I think it could help you:), i am trying to quit coffee for the second time, chickory drink is helping 😊
Guys it’s been 3 weeks and I’m so so so tired I’m the afternoon😭
Great video, thanks for sharing.
It's so weird all these videos people saying drank 2 to 3 coffee a day every time my cup is gone i make another until i attempt to sleep at night. I quit for 8 days after teeth whitening and had bad headache for couple days then was completely fine. I wish i never started again
I only clicked this video because I have the same Boston Terrier mug. ❤
you obv were doing it wrong. but everyone is differnt coffee keeps me going in a labor job, cut the sugar and keep it under 3 cups max
Be careful young woman caffein lurks in spanish food chilli and will creep up on you at unexpecye
Moment. Youve given me new hope to quit coffre again. Thank you.😅
I didn’t start drink coffee till it was free at my job 🙄
Still quit?
Great personality and information. Maybe get to the point and be done quicker.
Good for you
But té contains caffeine too
Yes some teas do! I quit my morning coffee, not caffeine overall 😊
There the plant called Tea
And the beverage brewed with parts of other plants
You look like Sydney Sweeny!
Don't worry i drank 4 monsters and 4 coffee a day
I thought you were Sidney Sweeney
Do you drink Tea?
Yes I do drink tea! Although most teas that I drink are caffeine-free, I do still love Green Tea on occassion
You are beautifull
Good, now remove all other plants from your diet and be amazed
I did and was amazed how much my body needs veggies✌🏼
@@sassasworld1995 good, you can have mine! ^^
Our body needs fiber.
Our body needs plants
gREAT VIDEO-tHANKS!!
