I’m still having a fun time with this one despite having never played the Wii original. It’s not as good as Forgotten Land, but that was a larger scale project and slightly new direction for Kirby while this reminds me of why I fell in love with the pink puffball and his beloved cast of characters in the first place.
I've been really enjoying this one. The gameplay tweaks are nice additions and it looks great as well. I haven't dived into the online stuff but I am enjoying the mini games and challenge rooms.
I never got to play this original game and ended up buying this. My sister and I had too much fun playing the demo together. It's a fun, chill game to sit back and relax with. The power ups are really fun as well.
I also love the mini games (especially egg catch from back in the day).
I gave the demo a try a while ago, and I know I'll be getting this one down the line! I just generally adore the cuteness of Kirby, and it looks like this game delivers in that regard! Especially with that gorgeous art style 😍

I love Kirby. I love the games BECAUSE they're easy. I never played this originally, so for me the full price maybe isn't a big deal, but still. It's pretty old and it doesn't seem like they added enough extra items to justify it to people that have already played it.

loving this game, i enjoyed the original a lot and found this feels a lot more polished, its also nice to be able to play without using that wii remote control scheme the original had alongside it also being nice to have 60fps side scrolling kirby again after star allies 30fps.
definitely hoping we see the likes of Robobot in HD on switch down the line if its up to the quality of this remake/remaster.

I bought this game to play with my daughter and I must say it's perfect to co-op with her. We have just finished rayman legends and it was at the end maybe a bit too hard for her and then we were playing guacamelee which got too hard for her quickly.
This is perfect for young kids and simple enough for them to play by themselves. I used one of those game tokens I bought before Christmas which I got 10% off through you guys. So it wasn't too bad I find. Well worth it.
Saved a bit by using the token and a bit more by getting an e-shop card from you guys.

Great review. I might've rented this one on the Wii, but $60 for a remake is pretty steep. I'll be waiting for the $30-40 price range before considering it.

I never played an old version and I really enjoy this game, even if it's maybe not as special as the 3D Kirby last year, ( I never keep the name of it) it's either way really enjoyable.
Wow I didn't expect it to look that good. Crazy how much of a difference the outline makes! That said, I'll definitely wait for a sales to consider getting this one, the eshop is packed of great titles at a cheaper price and there's no real urgency in getting a new Kirby game (me thinks)
i think for me this gave came out in a bad moment, i love kirby games and i would have happily bought it if wasn't for Octopath 2 dropping on the same day and also having to save for Zelda, due to taxes and other stuff the game is going to be ~85USD, so yeah might buy it down the road on a sale. I grew up with Kirby on NES and I’ve never grown out of his games. This one is really fun!
I'm am over the moon to have this classic game accessible on modern hardware and I hope they bring more old games over from the Wii U, Wii, and GameCube systems on the future.
There seems to be no good reason to me why Nintendo won't keep better care of their own history and create a universal backlog of sorts where players can access older games, EPECIALLY the more popular ones.
I never played the original game, so I may be tempted in getting this one. Not sure about the price though despite the additions.
It depends on what you are into. My kids have zero intetest in Metroid and they have never played this on the wii. They bought it with their own money and thd whole damily has been enjoying it since. Kirby games also never lose their value. I am happy for snyone who actualy found a physical copy of Metroid and I wish Kirby was cheaper, but just likd metroid, in a year they will be going for a lot more money. Grab it while ya can!
I really was never a kirby fan, thought it was childish and too easy but after kirby and the forgotten land came out i am really enjoying kirby and this game looks pretty fun though i will admit not a 60 dolar game. Thanks for the great review guys

It is too expensive for what it is though - maybe if I bought a physical copy that I could resell at % later on.
The demos are usually beat under one short sitting so I wonder how long would the full game last.

This is a “wait for a sale” for sure imo. I will always love Kirby but I cannot understand why Nintendo keeps releasing these old games at full blown prices (with the recent exception of Metroid Prime Remastered). I also really appreciate that this channel factors in value as a significant portion of their review score 👍

Make another kirby robobot on the switch. It's amazing on the 3ds and I think sometimes revisiting something that worked is not a bad idea. Fingers crossed

I love Kirby games and have played the original game so the deluxe version price is a bit steep for me. Will certain wait until it goes on sale.

In regards to pricing, I feel like Nintendo just knows Kirby has more selling power than Samus hence why it’s a full priced game. I could be wrong but they seem to want Metroid to find its audience while kirby has had his for a good while

I used to play Kirby games a lot when I was a kid. Mostly on handheld though. Kind of fell away from Kirby games though.

One of my favourite things with Squeak Squad on the DS was pausing when having a new ability and seeing all of the combos - something that was somewhat simplified in the recent Forgotten Land. Do they return here?

Best Kirby available on Switch. One of the few Kirby games with some difficulty, good collecting, fun abilities, and no gimmick. And this new version looks gorgeous! Glad to have it again and can't recommend it enough
better than last years Forgoten Land? 😮

@@thanksgivingh6185 very easy and super repetitive. That's not to say Forgotten Land is bad. Great music and cool execution of themes. But imagine the difference like looking at Super Mario 3D World. It's still a start to finish experience but translated into 3D. But that game excelled by making it fresh and challenging and super creative. Forgotten Land didn't really add anything but the extra dimensions. So it was a little bland

Never played the original as don't own a Wii. I'm now about 30perc in the story mode. Don't really care about the difficulty mode as I already know the usual Kirby concept, which can caters to very young to young at heart players. I am having a lot of fun as it is a cute ans chill game for me. No need to burst my brain cells when I'm tired of using my brain in my work 😂

Find most Kirby games a little boring but if there's a big sale maybe? graphics look great.
I like what Nintendo did with the graphical style choice for this game, and I'm not surprised that the music is good as they also seem to give the Kirby games some great music. But the overall challenge of these games is my issue. I feel as though Nintendo puts Kirby in the child genre along with Yoshi games.
Mario is Child/Adult depending on how how hard you make it for yourself, 100% it or just go through and beat. While Zelda and Metroid are more adult like. Serious and not straight forward.
Return to Dream Land Deluxe has quite a bit of challenge in the post-game modes
@Snsy Unfortunately it's post-game. I do enjoy a Kirby game or two and think the Big N does a great job with the franchise. I just wish the harder mode was available from the start. Like Metroid Dread was moderate/hard from the start. Post-game they added Hard, and Dread mode is just ludicrous. But, since the game started challenging it was up to the player to question themselves and their ability to go back in on hard or Dread mode. Kirby is like play with kid gloves first and then we'll make it kid gloves+. Plus not to mention an experienced player can probably go through a Kirby (or Yoshi) game in probably 3-5 hrs, yet Nintendo will charge a premium price. I don't feel it's worth it for an older experienced player. But, the younger generation coming up in the video game world. Most definitely.
My daughter started with Kirby on the Super Nintendo and Echo on Genesis. Now she won't even look at them. But that experience paved the way for her journey into video gaming, and without those games and their easy-to-use interface, she probably wouldn't be into gaming today.
I feel like this was kinda overshadowed by the Nintendo Direct "shadow" drops (see what I did there?)
But I loved the demo and thought the slightly controversial graphical overhaul was great!
It does look a lot better than Kirby & the Forgotten Land, but I've not seen enough to know if it addresses the issues that plagues that one (character & story).
Having said that, there's no way I'm going to spend $70 on it.
Visually I think the game looks fantastic. I loved Kirby as a kid, but I’ll probably pass on this just because super easy 2D platformers just don’t entertain me anymore.
Kirby really isn't as easy as people make it out to be. Sure, the story mode isn't hard at all, but the post-game modes can offer quite a bit of difficulty and the unlockable challenge stages can be really tough if you're trying to get platinum medals.
Seems fun but that price is just too high. I’d rather spend €20 less on the Metroid Prime remaster.
Yeah, maybe just a few extra hours of game but not really worth it if already played it. If it was my first time playing it then maybe I would have played it, even at that price.
I'm not a Kirby fan, so unless my daughter decides to put down Minecraft, I doubt this game will be gracing the backlog. Price is pretty steep as well.

Nintendo is straight up being greedy with these remaster prices.
My kids (5 and 7) love the demo but I told them they need to wait for some special occasion for me to spend $79 on this game. It's a joke that such a simple and short game costs almost as much as the upcoming Zelda game. What a money grab on nostalgia.

Not my type of game i think.
I will always be a fan of Kirby, but the kid gloves are getting a little tiresome. Having to slog through a game on EZ mode just to play it on hard mode is just too much for me. Add to that that hard mode is just the same thing with less health and I'm gonna pass on yet another kirby game. I'll get it when my kid asks for it and finishes forgotten land. Meanwhile, Dream Buffet was a solid title for all ages, albeit a little underdeveloped.
Kirby is easy, just as fromsoft games are hard. The difficulty setting is in their make-up. Which is why they don’t change. I think complaining about Kirby being too easy is just as pointless as complaining that fromsoft games don’t offer an easy mode.
That’s simply not the point and never will be.
They really need to make a Robobot 2, not incredibly hard overall but had a lot of interesting mechanics no other Kirby could do
@@aintthatapotofeffluck8926 as much as kirby games are more intended to children the demographic of the games are mostly adults so it wouldnt hurt them to make their games challenging. even kids like challenges in game to an extent

I suppose there’s a lot to like about Kirby but for me, Kirbys just never appealed. Too simple, too short and designed for 3 year olds. I played the Switch Kirby demo and it just proved, to me at least, that I was right.
I never really cared for Kirby. He’s just a generic style character for varying platformers. It’s never been a franchise that entices me. At $59.99, this title is not changing my mind in any way.
If Metroid Prime remastered is €40, this game is not worth €60. Just my opinion.
Big time. I honestly think it would have to be $30 to pull my attention.
At the end of the day, Kirby has historically outperformed Metroid in sales consistently.
I think Nintendo would sell MPR for $60 if they thought they could get away with it, but it seems that they are opting to sell lower in return for the brand awareness boost that many Nintendo franchises have received on Switch.
If it's about $40 i think i would get it immediately. But $60... nah i'll wait. 😅
