At my age now (64) it seems many of my musical heroes and heroines in all of my diverse genres of music are leaving me. To Alfa and all of Chic, I will forever love all of you!❤❤❤🙏💛💜🧡🙏
...as a child of the sixties and a youngster growing up in the unforgettable 70s full of so much great music, i can relate to your comment, i'm close to tears now...i perceive the beginning of a lump in my throat...
Absolutely , very fitting & informative Tribute ! ... l never realized this Lady was so intricately involved , at such a wide range in the music industry. This was such an Emphatic , Far-Reaching Era , it's sad to hear how the GREAT ONES are leaving us. Very Impressed with the mark she left ... A Well Deserved Rest ~ ALFA 🌹...
Chi’c was my favorite group in the 80’s. Classy and Polished! They were dressed to the nines every time! Music was meaningful then, Good Times, I want your love, Warm summers night! Great Music.
yes me too i love them have their songs on my playlist may god rest her soul !! I remember those summer nites too so much fun and listening too the best music on the planet!!!!!!!!!!
@@RealJew63 Shalom my fellow Israelite. I agree 💯 percent! I cherish Chic, those songs and more. Their second LP C'est Chic, was I think their best all the way through. Alfa's lead vocal on At last I am free is awesome. The Jazzy instrumental, Savior Affair and Funny Bone demonstrated their fluency in Jazz and Funk instrumentals outside of their dance tracks. They were talented and looked sharp.👍
Naaaawwww, Girl....."My Forbidden Lover" is MY jam!😆 I'm 64 and have always associated it with an INCREDIBLY HOT Man who was a FANTASTIC F Buddy of mine a thousand years ago in my 20's and I STILL miss him, somethin' awful! He moved down south decades ago (I'm STILL stuck in Michigan) and I'll foreverrrrr ADORE ALFA and Chic! MAN, I'm bummed and feeling OLD😢
I got to see Alfa Anderson in concert as a backup vocalist for Luther Vandross, along with her collegues, Tawatha Agee, Brenda White-King, Curtis King, Lisa Fischer, Paulette McWilliams, Cindy Mizelle, Kevin Owens, Fonzi Thornton, and many others, _depending on the line-up_ at the time. Luther never worked with people who could not vocally hold their own. RIP, Alfa.
I turned 10 years old in 1977. The song "Dance Dance Dance" was released that year around my B-Day. It put Chic on the map, they were becoming huge, literally the soundtrack to my formative years. Rest in peace Alfa Anderson, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson, forever legends (& very underrated) in your own right.
Oooh no! I think the world of her, Lucy Martin and Norma Jean Wright. They made the the Chic sound special. R.I.P. my dear and my sincere condolences to the family. I am a grown man and feel like crying.
We forget about these amazing artists until we hear of their passing! Then it hit us of the impact they left behind! I’m just sad now because that music was amazing and takes me back when I was a little boy! To her family and friends my condolences 🙏🏾🌹🌹🌹
One of the best to ever do it. The Chic female vocals were as distinct a sound as you can get in Soul, R & B and pop music. It was a sound that to me is still inimitable. Rest in peace Alfa Anderson and thank you for your illustrious contribution to Soul and popular music in general.
I'm very choked up listening to this...I was a liner note nerd and this woman sang with everybody! Wow, what a talent, I adored her voice. May you RIP Alfa Anderson and thank you for the musical legacy you left for us.
Wow...what a time in history! Reminded how finite we are. Reminded of the brevity of life in this fallen world. ALFA and Chic were incredible 💔 At Christmas...in Christ alone ❤
I remember going on my summer holidays in the late 70s and early 80s, listening and dancing to Chic and all of the other Disco/Motown artists and bands. Every generation will say the same, I know. But 'musically' those decades and artists were truly 'iconic'. I believe the best time to be around for a revolution is when it happened. Because it can never be duplicated. This was a time when every week a new tune hit the radio (yes radio) and we all rushed out to buy the vinyl and played it to hell!. Even now when I play them it brings both Happiness and also a little sadness due to them being just memories and like sadly like Alfa, many of those who joined me in those incredible and fantastic times are no longer. R.I.P Alfa.
TELLLLL ME ABOUT IT!! I'm 63 and Alfa and Chic provided the soundtrack to my LIFE to this day!! I adored/adore and will foreverrrrrr adore them. This "getting old" SH!T is just that.....SH!T‼😭
A Warm Summer Night my favorite song i had my very first unforgettable slow dance to this song i will never forget it i have the song when i play it i smile at a fantastic memory 😀 RIP
RIP Alfa , i was in love with she was so fine omg they both were but everytime i see their videos i always say she was bad, even as she got older she still was fine, she'll be missed Chic was legendary
You just can't put into words the way Chic music hit in the late 1970s. You had crack musicians like Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and the other Chic musicians blowing our minds with their musical instruments and Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin and Norma Jean Wright making us high with their elegant, sophisticated vocals. Listen to songs like I Want Your Love and My Forbidden Lover. WHAT. A. GROUP!!!!! RIP Alfa and the other CHIC members who have passed.
I loved chic! Good times is my favorite chic song and will forever take me straight back to my 70s childhood - her voice and nile roger’s bass line made an unforgettable disco classic
OMGG !!!! I just saw this vid i'm so hurt i grew up on this group back in the great days of the 80's I was in a singing group in high school and this was the song i did too get in the group I want ur love !!! Chic is beyond ICONIC and ALpha ur never forgotten may God bless u in heaven !!! ANd thank you for sharing ur talents with us on earth ur songs got me in a great group back in school !!!!!!!!!!
Tengo tu fabulosa voz en mi colección de albums de Chic. Gracias Alfa (y Bernard y Tony y Chic) por ser parte de mi soundtrack de vida desde mi adolescencia. Eternidad para ti y para Chic ¡¡
I'm 60 & was a Chic fan from the beginning of their run in '77 at 13 years old. She sang 2 of my favorite Chic songs of all-time. 'Sometimes You Win' & 'At Last I Am Free'...I saw Luther Vandross in a concert that had multiple acts on the bill in (Cameo, Cherelle etc.) '84 in Cleveland & recognized her as a background singer with Luther...we caught eyes & I was flattered because she knew that I knew who she was. Luther was loyal to his friends as he sang backup with them in their heyday before he made it big. I became a 'Twitter' acquaintance & Luci's & Alfa's a few years back & they were very nice ladies. My condolences to her family & friends...she was my favorite!
💔💔💔😭😭😭 MAAAAAAANNNNNN.......talk about a DOWNER‼‼Chic was/is/and ETERNALLY WILL BE one of the GREATEST BANDS OF ALLLLLLLL TIME and Alfa's gorgeous, elegant and sexy voice is etched forever in my mind and heart. She helped provide a BIG CHUNK of the Soundtrack of My Youth that I STILL PLAY almost everyday now that I'm an Old Fart! The happiest times in my life (I'm 63) were spent on the DANCE FLOOR in my 20's, 30's and some 40's going beautifully berserk until the wee morning hours at the clubs to Chic's MAGNIFICENT MUSIC. I was on the swim team in high school and our workouts were BRUTAL. To not die of exhaustion and keep up the pace, I would play "I Want Your Love" in my head over & over in my head on a loop as it keep me moving at the right speed. Every last Chic recording is a MASTERPIECE and that's in large part due to Alfa! I'm gonna' TRY NOT to be depressed and sad but celebrate the fact that she shared her incredible talent & soul with us for 77 years and made us ALL SO HAPPY every time we heard, hear and will hear a Chic DANCE ANTHEM. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
Chic was the disco group back in 70's and 80's. I love their music and still do today. Chic has been of my favorite bands in the era. RIP Ms. Anderson💔
Legendary Beautiful & Talented Singer!!! I fell in love with her as a Jr. High band member in 1978 when I got into Chic and Nile Rodgers' guitar prowess (Back then fist fights almost broke out between musicians over Nile Rodgers, Tony Maiden & Al McKay). The Chic Ladies, though, were Class Personified all by themselves! R.I.P. Queen!!!😑🙏🏾 🕊️
