None of these bands "vanished without a trace," you did nothing but point out the traces. Every band has its day. They can't exist forever, but their music does. Three quarters of the people discussed are dead. How long do you think they are supposed to continue? Makes no sense.
EWF was a powerhouse RB Band that were flexible in multi genres. My uncle (Don Myrick) is videoed next to Maurice White. He played sax for EWF, leader of the Phenix Horns. EWF are still touring serious these previous years. They should NOT be on this list.
I can still hear (I think it was Maurice White) saying " Don Myrick on saxophone" at the end of a song on the Gratitude album. Condolences on your uncle's passing.
This article reminds me of when certain people, just find out about soul music and write about it. Many of these groups are still performing. They have not vanish, they are still around. People are still playing the music. Give me a break.
Thank you so much I had to remind them the biggest group in the world right now is The Rolling Stones they are not millionaires. They are billionaires. Blue Magic is on an album with the Rolling Stones.
Now Blue magic did disappear. How in the hell did they leave them out. They only had two top 10 R&B hits. Sideshow & Three-Ring Circus, along with a few top 20 minor R&B hits
When did Howard Scott (8:24) & Charles Miller (8:48) turn into white boys? Last I checked, both were proud Black Men. WAR was one of the best bands ever.
I don't understand why EWF is on this list. They kept touring for years after their hey day! Regardless, every group changes. Most of these groups were disbanded by the 1980s. Music tastes change. Medical problems and deaths happen.
Some not mentioned: The Manhattans The O Jays Blue Magic The Intruders The Whispers Bloodstone Champaign My dad used to play Kiss and Say Goodbye (Manhattan) & Say Yes (Whispers) so much!!
There are so many more groups that could be added to this list such as Harvey and the Moonglows, the Dells, the Drifters, the Miracles (OOH Baby, baby, Tracks of My Tears ), Gladys Knight and the Pips, (Midnight Train to Georgia) and many more.
Imho they were overshadowed out of Philly by the Stylistics and Delfonics. But they sounded just alike! Another nice group out of Philadelphia in that era that wasn't mentioned was The Intruders.
.....SO many overlooked - Sly & The Family Stone, The Dells, Blue Magic, Three Degrees (FAR more significant than The Emotions - NO knock on the Henderson sisters, though) as WELL as Sons Of Robin Stone, The Soul Generation, Ebonys, Flirtations, Jackson Sisters (NO relation) POST-Diana Supremes, Hot Chocolate, Mothers Finest, Barry White & Love Unlimited Orchestra, Chairmen Of The Board (ENTIRE Invictus / Hot Wax / HDH roster of artists) Continental IV, Ace Spectrum, New York City (both, ESSENTIAL for Spinners fans to hear - if they somehow HAVEN'T yet) Automatic Man (featuring Pat Thrall & Michael Shrieve) and Black Ivory (who LIKE another - The Five Stairsteps, ARGUABLY rivaled the Jackson 5.....). MORE modern groups / artists VERY much worth investigating: SEAL, Roachford, The Christians, Ephraim Lewis (died tragically before his second effort could be finished : ( Charles & Eddie, The Lighthouse Family, Gnarls Barkley (sadly, just TWO albums to date) Alabama Shakes / Brittany Howard & ESPECIALLY, the Black Pumas.....
the EMOTIONS have not totally vanished, pam passed away, jeanette had other intrest, but mrs wanda still going strong with her 2 daughters wendi & wyann.
Felipe Wynne (Philip Walker) was not an original member, he did not join the group, which were originally known as the Domingoers, over a decade after the original lineup debut.
It’s really amazing that after gold and platinum records. Billboard group of the year award.. records Platinum with the Rolling Stones that my act BlueMagic 💙 was not mentioned🔥 do your research🔥TedWizardMills 💙
Disco killed these bands and their awesome music and the 80's came in and record labels kicked r&b to the curb and pushed that vanilla pop music on those groups that made it through disco.
And the introduction of Rap was the final nail in the coffin for the ballad type groups. One can see the disdain in Don Cornelius' face at having the likes of Rakim and Redman on Soul Train. But he tried to put up a poker face without much success 😂😂
Phillipe Wynne was not an original member of The Spinners. G.C. Cameron was and can be heard on their hit "It's A Shame" which was released prior to the Phillipe Wynne/Thom Bell era. Both were amazing singers but Phillipe will always be one of my favorites.
Maybe I don't understand the word "vanished" as it pertains to most of these groups. Are you sure "vanished" is the right word and not that these people are now old and retired?
If you want to talk about groups who disappeared, let's talk about Rare Earth, The Silver Convention, Brick, BT Express, Brass Construction, Mother's Finest, Pleasure. Most of the groups in this video had a lot of hits. They didn't disappear.
WHY is this non-black man even making this video??? Tell about the white bands who vanished in the 1970’s??? He probably doesn’t know half of what he’s talking about-I stopped listening real quick🤦🏽♀️
The Spinners were led by G.C. Cameron at one time. He was never mentioned, & he was replaced by Phillips Wynne, who replaced original member G.C. Cameron. Cameron rejoined the group in the late 90’s or 2000’s. You failed to mention him!!!
Not entirely agree with ‘vanished without a trace’, although several bands did disbanded or inactive on studio albums. I would add Heatwave (although Rod Temperton still wrote songs for them, but unfortunate events happened), T-Connection (apparently they got tired with the industry and returned to The Bahamas), Switch/ De Barge (what happened to them?), One Way …..
This video is an insult to black bands and I would even say borderline racist. So legendary bands like EWF, The Jackson 5, The Spinners and The Commodores just vanished without a trace? No one would ever say that The Beatles or Led Zeppelin vanished without a trace.
We still listen to these old songs they are not gone.
They did NOT vanish! The are the SOUL of Black Folk! ❤
Some white folks too 😊
None of these bands "vanished without a trace," you did nothing but point out the traces. Every band has its day. They can't exist forever, but their music does. Three quarters of the people discussed are dead. How long do you think they are supposed to continue? Makes no sense.
I agree!!!
Yup…these bands literally included some of the biggest names in show business.
Totally agree!!!!!!!

The Elements was just on tour with Chicago! 🎶 😎 🎶
That’s dope my dad did a stint as a backup drummer!
Agreed people will say anything for content EWF are still performing greatly I my add.
Condolences regarding what happened to your uncle Don. Very sad. He was incredible. Maurice only hired the best.
This article reminds me of when certain people, just find out about soul music and write about it. Many of these groups are still performing. They have not vanish, they are still around. People are still playing the music. Give me a break.
I absolutely agree 🙄
I agree with you he just doesn’t know I guess 😂😂😂😂👍💯❤️🔥‼️‼️
EWF never Vanished ……..!!!!!!!!! The Jackson 5, are you kidding right now, never Vanished!!!!!!
Right! What the hell are they talking about
They didn’t disappear!!Everyone gets old,and that’s exactly what happened to these bands.
exactly
Exactly!
U right bout that. But anytime I wanna hear some good music u best believe they are my go to bands. They live on in our hearts and memories.
I don't know most of these bands. Is it because I'm too young?
They forgot the group Blue Magic
Thank you so much I had to remind them the biggest group in the world right now is The Rolling Stones they are not millionaires. They are billionaires. Blue Magic is on an album with the Rolling Stones.

They did not disappear, father time had a lot to do with that.
EWF has been constantly touring for decades. They are on their "Farewell" tour as we speak. Research a bit, it helps!
Right! Do just a little bit of research
In the mid 70s/early 80s EW&F was one of the biggest musical acts in the world PERIOD. They're first ballot hall of famers
The Stylistics are still performing. They split and there's 2 groups of them.
When did Howard Scott (8:24) & Charles Miller (8:48) turn into white boys? Last I checked, both were proud Black Men. WAR was one of the best bands ever.
In 20 years Tupac and The Notorious Big will be whitewashed.
I know. This whole video is wack!
I don't understand why EWF is on this list. They kept touring for years after their hey day! Regardless, every group changes. Most of these groups were disbanded by the 1980s. Music tastes change. Medical problems and deaths happen.
whomever writes the material for these videos really needs to do some research first
A lot of research!!.
Research not required for getting views.😢
Oh these groups. Amazing talent. Thanks.
And it wasn't R&B. It was called Soul Music. Period.
Some not mentioned:
The Manhattans

His mentor told him he could do only 20. 😮
Looks like someone did not do their due diligence. Where is L.T.D ?
Sly & the Family Stone... Bloodstone band.
Love Bloodstone. I had their Natural High album in 1973 when I was 16.
Forever music
The individuals got old and retired. Some are still pumping like EWF etc
BlueMagic was not mentioned 🔥
@@TedMills-y8w they made albums till 1989. A great group that never sold out to disco or trends.
Imho they were overshadowed out of Philly by the Stylistics and Delfonics. But they sounded just alike!

EWF??? REALLY? They seem like always on tour since they first started decades ago!!!!!!!!!!

LJ Reynolds’s was added and he is still performing the DRAMATICS MUSIC!!
I toured with him.
ChinaDoll of the Platters

Phillippe Wynn was not an original member of the Spinners. Harry Ray was not an original member of the Moments.
Oh but what a great addition he was to the group!!!
Felipe Wynne was not an original member of the Spinners.

This is a man’s world is really something you should listen to
Indeed, a powerful song by The Godfather himself. I loved it when he also performed it with opera starLuciano Pavoratti.
The music times changed.
I agree. They did not “suddenly” disappear. He can’t even pronounce Maceo’s name correctly. 1:11 minutes in.

✨Singing Groups✨
Out your mind to put EWF on this list
Just because Tchaikovsky is gone..doesn't mean that his music has Vanished!!😮😂😂
Never heard of that group. What were some of their big hits?
Need more music from the groups. Video assumes people know the music. Wrong! These young kids only listen to rap
What happened to The Dells?
They've passed away.
@@tnjl1143 Yes, I know. I was wondering why they were not included in this video.
