That is a tool for splicing together two ends of single strand type fencing. The mechanism allows you to grab the two ends and then pull the two ends together using the ratcheting mechanism.
I used a red one many, many times building barb wire fences on a farm in North Dakota. Man I hated that as a teenager. Now as an adult it was kind of peaceful way to make a living.
He hit it right on the head, mine was 76k. Just got my 2022 Chevy 2500 fully loaded. Have the off road mode, the collision avoidance pack, the fully loaded camera pack that shows each sides of my fenders front or back, my hitch cam, my bed cam, back bumper cam, front bumper cam, 360 view cam and so much more. I could go on and on. I have the paint “pull me over red” and I’m in love with it.
Yeah, that's a wire stretcher for stringing fence. Used a yellow one just like that in my younger days building A LOT of barbed-wire fence with cedar posts in South Central Kansas. It helps you keep your wire taut as you anchor the wire from post to post. It can also pull in two strands, one from each end, keeping them taut but giving you a slack space in the center to make a splice.
I just took my 2020 2500 HD Duramax High Country on the 7 hour plane crash trail in Wisconsin/Michigan, it handled like a pro. Their was a few times I thought I'd have issues, and the truck surprised me every time.
I just bought a 2500 Duramax last week. I went for white and prefer it to the black. It’s the LT (mid level trim) with the convenience package, so it has power driver seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, remote start, has the 5th wheel/gooseneck package, spray in bed liner, and a few more goodies. I paid $61k, so there are more affordable options. LTZ level is where the price goes way up. I definitely agree that the turning radius is not the best, but that 910 lb/ft of torque is amazing and always puts a smile on my face. Seeing the preview of the drag race, I’m not surprised that it blew the other trucks off the line. I’m a tall guy at 6’4” and this truck still seems massive to me. I’d still need a small step ladder to work on the engine haha 😆. Overall, I’ve been really happy with it. It’s a beast!! Another bonus is that I have the tan interior, which is pretty rare to find. It’s a sharp looking vehicle.
Andre's right, it's a tool to stretch barbed wire fence. By the way by summer poop path will either be tall grass or a weed patch, depending on what seeds get there first. Great truck. Great video. Thank you.👍
I feel like this is the best looking front end from the big 3 it looks like a semi truck with the amber lights being above the headlights and the huge mirrors coming off the door truck looks great also the new GM trucks have the longest and widest bed available on the market.
You found an old wire strainer. I used to do fencing for sheep horses and cattle. Horses are hard on fences so need a very strong fence. Sorry, I could talk all day, I got a bit carried away.
The only people complaining about the Allison transmission are people who wish their truck had it, easily the best transmission on the market. Great truck but GM really needs to update the interior.
The GM auto 4WD is for wet pavement or light snow conditions. It uses clutches in the transfer case to allow a difference in front axle / rear axle wheel speed. It’s essentially an open center diff and the downside to off roading in that mode is that the transfer case will overheat very quickly. If you’re off pavement you should always be using 4 hi or 4 lo. Auto 4 should only be used on pavement with wet / slippery conditions.
That’s what I was thinking. When I had my Trailblazer, I just kept it in 2 high, never in auto. Even with wet pavement or light snow, it did just fine. If you ever see me use 4WD, you better believe it’s because I really need it. I also grew up in the Midwest and learned to drive a fwd car in 5-6 inches of snow early on. Driver skills are probably more important than the vehicle in my experience.
The tool Andre found appears to be a tool used for helping string Barbed wire. The new GM heavy duty trucks will have the new touch screen and HP and Torque are supposed to be boosted. I read an article the HP is supposed to be around 500 and torque number is supposed to be around 1095 to 1100 # foot of torque on the Duramax. Those are going to some pretty big numbers if that is true. So hang in there Roman better days are coming for the GM heavy duties. Even if the HP and Torque numbers don't get that much of a boost the cabin will be updated for sure. Thanks for the review Roman and Andre and I am looking forward to see more about Taming Tumbleweed Ranch. Things are looking good around the Ranch.
With regard to the camera views and the picture matching the actual truck... I've had a number of Sierra/Silverado trucks over the last 10 years. What's funny is that I had a black truck where the icon in the camera views was white. Then I get a white truck and they make the icon black! Maddening, I tell you!
Cool video. The ranch series is awesome to watch. As for the truck those tires are pretty good actually. They have the 3 peak mountain/snow flake rating.
I owned a 2017 Z71 2500 LTZ duramax, used to tow my 3x Polaris RZR XP1000's... Got a smoking deal back then.. Because My 1st Chevy blew a transmission at 80 miles leaving dealership
When the Chevrolet first hit the market I thought it was fugly. So I bought a Ford Tremor, drove it for 7500 miles and it got the wobble, the dealer did a repair made it worse so I sold it. Thinking I would wait until the 22 Ford HD trucks hit the market. Then I needed to move my shop to a new location and needed a truck, the only one available was a 2021 Chevrolet High Country,so I bought it thinking I would sell it in a year when my new Ford was built. I agree the interior is dated compared to the other high end trucks. Although the way Chevy or GM set up the functionality of its dash board is light years ahead of Ram and Ford. I actually canceled my Ford order because I like how the Chevy drives tows and the camera system is by far the best in the market. The High Country grille and front fascia appearance has grown on me. I actually think it is the sharpest truck on the market. The tan interior really makes the truck interior much more eye appealing than their black. We liked this truck so much we went and bought my father a 2021 Chevrolet 1500 with the Duramax 3.0. That truck is incredible for fuel mileage. I actually want to buy an AtX4, but they do not offer the Baby Duramax with that package. Chevrolet has come along way since 2011, I bought a fully decked out 3500 LTZ that turned out to be a lemon. Took ten years for me to even consider a GM product, but I will not go back to Ford now. I had two Ram 3500 trucks in the past ten years, and both became nightmare owns at 20k with electrical failures. Always been a Ford guy, but that wobble is scary. The IFS of the GM truck has been around since the 80’s and works well. Think if you guys drove that Chevy and gave it a fair shake you would have buyers remorse on your Ram. Great video, been watching for some time and your channel has grown into one of the best on you tube. Oh and Roman quit hating on GM…lol
@@garysarratt1TFL insinuates that the Goodyear Wrangler trail runner tire is a part of this truck's trim package (OEM). Why would chevy or any manufacture (lol at tesla right now) sell vehicles with miss matched tires?
Roman, when they castrate large farm animals they actually use rather large rubber bands. Over time it will cut off the circulation and the testes will just fall off.
Andre's right, they're fence stretchers. Not that complicated if you know how to use them, but they'll also bite your fingers if you don't know how to use them.
GM used to have an ad challenging Ford and Dodge buyers with “Don’t you buy no ugly truck!” How times change! With that front, you have to have a front camera. 😳 I thought those were Nazca Lines but then I saw it was a volcano. 🤣 It’s a fence Jack.
In case anyone is wondering, for CDL purposes if the GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) where BOTH the Trailer and Truck are more than 26,000 lbs in most U.S. States and most Canadian Provinces and Territories then you need a CDL (Commercial Drivers Licence). These are MASSIVE weights for any consumer-grade vehicle to be pulling and even a fully loaded Keystone Montana when paired with say an F350 Dually is STILL less than 25,000 lbs so you are good to go. If you are towing a fancier luxury 3-axle Horizon 5th wheel, you could easily get into the 27,000 to 30,000 lbs range which SOME states have a problem with if you don't have a CDL. In Canada some provinces want you to upgrade to a Class 3 to Class 1 (aka full CDLs) drivers licence for trailers over 10,000 lbs or add something called a House Trailer Endorsement to your normal Class 4 or Class 5 driver's licence. BC, Quebec, Ontario and Maritime provinces all want an endorsement to your normal daily driver licence if you are towing more than 10,000 lbs (4600 kg) For the larger trailers plus trucks up to 37,000 lbs combined for paying jobs and/or business use, to get one of these Class-3 CDLs in Canada at least, you get a medical evaluation, study your CDL study guide, take an exam, do some training with someone who has such a rating WITH such a big truck and trailer and then go on a road test. Not actually all that hard. It's about 4 weeks of after-job studying and driving in Canada. The USA actually has quite a similar process for commercial trailer plus truck weights up to 37,000 lbs in many states where the extra CDL licence isn't that hard to do. It's when you are going full-on Class-8 truck and/or 37,000 lbs+ of towing do you need a full DOT (Department of Transport) approved training course (expensive!) and start keeping active driver logs. For places like California you need a Class-B CDL for 26,001 lbs or more combined truck and trailer be it for recreational or business use. If you have air brakes on either or both truck and trailer, you need an air brakes endorsed CDL pretty much no matter what you pull! It is very unusual to be going past 26,000 lbs and MOST people will have a truck and trailer be no more than 22,000 to 23,000 lbs for even the big trailers. The OTHER thing to be aware of is bridge limits on rural roads. If you go over ANY of those tiny bridges that go over ditches, or small creeks you could get a big ticket ($600+) if you are over their weight limits which can be as low as 20,000 lbs! Many midwest state highway troopers and local rural police looooove pulling over RV'ers for doing that. V
What happens if you tow often and like to leave your hitch ball in the reciever? Does that mean you can't lower your tailgate because the hitch flap cover is up?
Only the little multifunction top-gate is deactivated by the receiver sensor. It's only the top-gate that would hit the ball if it's lowered to make a step. The main tailgate will not. The main tailgate works as usual no matter how the receiver sensor is positioned. But keep in mind there are some trailers that have jacks that stick up high enough that the main tailgate will hit it if lowered. You are still on your own to be mindful of that.
I recently saw that body style truck, In a short bed, regular cab, dually, 3500. It was blacked out and had a dark blue paint job. It was a stupid cool looking truck.
@@alanj7306 I’m always a big fan of any truck which is proportioned correctly. Idk the exact numbers but I don’t think some of these crew cab trucks with 6 foot beds look all that great. Your hood and cab should be like 40% of the truck and the bed should be the other 60%
@BL Dontmatter depends what F-450 you’re talking about. I’d like to see them test a pickup with a fully boxed frame not a chassis cabs which a C channel frame.
Fence repair tool. Stretching wire to make fencing tight. If you guys or even Dave do not want that, give to Alex or Kase. I could use that at my ranch!
I agree that the interior is dated but not everyone wants to pay for the big screen. The price of a optioned out 1/2 ton is getting really close to this. I’ll take this over the 1/2 ton any day. Isn’t Roman’s new Ram equipped with the same size screen?
Anyone have the warm engine knock on a new Duramax with the ten speed and separate belt driven fan? There is a GM Bulletin on this. Being told all new 6.6 duramax engines have this knock/thump
if the features were leveled, or progressive, which i am sure you are thinking, I can picture manufactures or other reviewers renting out the place for there private use.
Fence com-a-long... for joining the fence wire strands / repair. Cool find . Great truck... 👍 just the 70k price tag... can feel the pain for sure when you scrap the whole side with a unseen tree branch... bounce through a rut and dent the rocker panel.... yeah a mall crawler ... expensive mall crawler... and yet not enough bed or payload to haul a camper in the bed of it. My 72 3/4 ton camper special 4wd had more capability and brand new off the lot two tone paint to boot.. under 5k. That was a truck... Sadly now also dealerships are adding 20 to 30 % markup over MSRP... and in the lot next to the Flint plant are 100's of brand new trucks ... waiting for computer chips... .... .... .... 🤔 Sure is a beautiful truck though and I like the interior dated or not. I am not a big fan of the fancy electrical 4wd system... I like the old school shift into 4 low / 4 high get out lock in the hubs and a locking rear dif. and locking frt. dif.. would settle for a limited slip up front. Easier to steer and on front differential on a daily driver. So little upsetting a Z71 for that price only has a limited slip in the rear and a open in the front. That would make a beautiful hunting truck. Be interesting to see someone take it and customize it. To be the ultimate hunting truck. Just a note on that... in the mid 80's Ducks Unlimited took a Chevy Suburban 4wd. Decked it out interior and exterior and a Jon boat on top... as a Dealer available special package.... a dream rig.
Anybody else feel that electric just isn't the future still? You just can't beat an awesome diesel truck, be it the 3.0 or this 6.6, I'd still rather get a diesel anyway no matter what then an electric
I would really enjoy a testing of the GAS version of this truck. Not everyone can afford an extra $20,000 for the diesel - Extra $12,500 for the engine/trans and then another $7500 of flipping “market adjustment”
Just wait a year or so, they have alot of these things sitting in fields . Eventually dealers will get glut of them and discounts will begin again. I had a 2018 HD drama ltz it was sweet, great power ride was good, but I sold it last year during the crazy prices being offered. 11 mpg local 25 Highway 850 miles a tank was sweet. But now I bought a new 4runner and enjoy that actually more then my old Chevy.
Government mandates drive the trucks getting bigger along with increasing ratings. The after treatment systems generate a lot of extra heat which requires additional cooling. They have to make more room for bigger radiators and intercoolers because of the added heat.
Auto 4wd is for when the rear tires slip the front engages as displayed on the volcano. If it was in 4H it would not have spun the tires. Try it in 4H. I like the look of the front end. just not a fan of all the chrome. Either color match or blacked out for me. The multi- function tail gate is a huge no for me in Michigan. The winter salt will have that rendered useless in a few short years. One piece tail gate is the way to go for me. I'm not a fan of bright interior lighting. My dash lights are always dimmed. I prefer the smaller display screen because of this and actually would like to see the display screen able to be dimmed. Last I knew the display screen is not dimmable.
A bit late to your comment but I feel the same way about bright screens. Bought a used 2021, the dash and screen are tied together in brightness and can be adjusted with buttons on the left side of the driver's-side dash. It dims adequately enough. I wish they were separately controlled though, as the gauges get too dim and the screen is a tad too bright still. I just keep the gauges dimmed a bit more than normal.
The only thing I like about it was the tailgate. BTW, ANY vehicle you park on a slope and stand on the declining portion in front of the hood is going to exaggerate the height of it. ;) But nice try. Poop path, appropriately named for Chevies. lol
That's def deceptive marketing if they're calling that an Allison when all they do is look it over. That's like Hennessey calling the venom a production supercar when it's just a tuned lotus.
Too heavy and wide wheel base to seriously take off road. I have a 96 Dodge 3500 single cab long bed 4x4 4 wheel diesel with a 6 speed manual, and it can keep up with the Jeeps lifted on 38s

Took the words right out of my mouth😁
At first I wasn’t a huge fan of the HD look In 2020. Then I grew to like it. Especially the custom trim all blacked out. Now I have one on order lol.
sorry to hear that bro
I’m going to order either a custom or ltz with the sport package (just for the black wheels and MT tires) this coming week.
Everything looks better blacked out. in this case, all the black kind of buries the ugly headlight arrangement.
Chrome is much more durable.
I personally think the HD Chevy and GMC are the best looking trucks out there. Stunning.

Nice to Chevy’s in the dirt. I have a 21 custom 2500 gasser And I love it!

I bet that looked pretty damn sharp. Chevy does have some nice red and blue colors.
@@alanj7306 I’m always a big fan of any truck which is proportioned correctly. Idk the exact numbers but I don’t think some of these crew cab trucks with 6 foot beds look all that great. Your hood and cab should be like 40% of the truck and the bed should be the other 60%
@@tafloyd2 That's why I always liked the mega cab short bed Ram dually's. I just think they look better proportionally
I seem to remember GM insinuating that FORD pickups equipped with the man step was ford sissy’s
Stretch wire !!
You city slickers !!!!!

Wire stretcher, dad used those 50yrs ago fencing the farm.
I sure hope you guys can get an F-450 and do a bunch of testing on it.
@BL Dontmatter depends what F-450 you’re talking about. I’d like to see them test a pickup with a fully boxed frame not a chassis cabs which a C channel frame.
Own a midnight edition 2500 duramax and love it
16” softball?! What size is the mitt to catch it with when pitching a fastball?
That is a barb whire stetcher for making fence. Pulls the wire tight for a proper fence.
That object at the end of the video is a fence puller for barb wire fences. I have one just like that.
Chevy got the best looking truck out there
The volcano hill looks SO MUCH STEEPER when you get closer!
Love the color on this HD 2500.
I like it
Double fist in the wind is absolutely awesome.
Can't wait to see you guys test the silverado ZR2
I wouldn't think a equivalent GMC/Chevy in 65 is also quite big in the front end which this one is fashioned after.
Fence repair tool. Stretching wire to make fencing tight. If you guys or even Dave do not want that, give to Alex or Kase. I could use that at my ranch!
i had a 2016 2500 Silverado, and if i was to get another heavy duty i would get the GMC Sierra at4
That’s the best looking truck
When are they going to update the interior on the HD unit s
I agree that the interior is dated but not everyone wants to pay for the big screen. The price of a optioned out 1/2 ton is getting really close to this. I’ll take this over the 1/2 ton any day. Isn’t Roman’s new Ram equipped with the same size screen?
Hopefully the heavy doody isn’t too heavy for poop path. (tool is wire puller- good job andre)
What you found there is a wire tensioner that is how you stretch your wire for your fence
I love the front end maybe a little less chrome
Anyone have the warm engine knock on a new Duramax with the ten speed and separate belt driven fan? There is a GM Bulletin on this. Being told all new 6.6 duramax engines have this knock/thump
Awesome looking truck
if the features were leveled, or progressive, which i am sure you are thinking, I can picture manufactures or other reviewers renting out the place for there private use.
Did Andre just locked the truck?
What's the cable for on the spare tire, nice ride
I think poop path is disrespectful, specially with a brand new truck
Barb wire or smooth wire stretcher for repairs
Fench stretcher. You guys need to try Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires on your HD trucks. I love mine on my 2500 Ram. Good towing tire as well.
Fence stretcher !
Roman got it right ✅!
More comments in a bit.
I love these old delusions people type out like a 72 has more capability than this truck lmao
I paid $9,890 for the diesel, and the markup was $2,500. I know i got it better than a lot of folks.
And it's heavier. The gas should do better off-road.
Government mandates drive the trucks getting bigger along with increasing ratings. The after treatment systems generate a lot of extra heat which requires additional cooling. They have to make more room for bigger radiators and intercoolers because of the added heat.
Total b.s.
The thing has a 38 inch fan.
I agree with others. It’s a wire stretcher for fencing
Does this happen to be GMs Forest Metallic?
Lol. We called the tool a fence stretcher. As others have stated.
a g80 in 2022 ... it needs a locking rear diff.
GM should have just gone with a modern version of the square body... Would sell like hotcakes IMHO 🤷♂️
Poop path rocks!
It’s for fencing to tighten the barbed wire
The only thing I like about it was the tailgate. BTW, ANY vehicle you park on a slope and stand on the declining portion in front of the hood is going to exaggerate the height of it. ;) But nice try. Poop path, appropriately named for Chevies. lol
A Diesel Beauty
wish you could do a gas powered Silverado
That's def deceptive marketing if they're calling that an Allison when all they do is look it over. That's like Hennessey calling the venom a production supercar when it's just a tuned lotus.
Too heavy and wide wheel base to seriously take off road. I have a 96 Dodge 3500 single cab long bed 4x4 4 wheel diesel with a 6 speed manual, and it can keep up with the Jeeps lifted on 38s
Or re connect wire stretcher/ puller
Very nice truck except for the dash.
the seats are hot garbage...gm needs to pay nissan for their zero-gravity technology patent and start using it asap
Andre and Roman 👍🏾 I miss professor Hulk aka Nathan
George Costanza
