Hey Tony. Thanks for the heads up on this. Did the CPUID and my machine is all set. I figured it would be , but it's good to know for sure.
Absolutely! I was reading through some of the changes made for the last update and excited to try it out when we get back in town. Have you checked out the latest update yet?
@@Hidden.Light.Photography I downloaded/it but haven't tried it.
I’ll be downloading it this weekend and seeing what it’s all about. I’m very excited for it!
Cheers Tony, I have a fairly new desktop for PI, so fingers crossed. I will check with CPUID later. Thanks Buddy, take care and clear skies.
You should be good to go with a newer desk top, but double checking is always a good idea :) keep me posted if this works out for you and clear skies to you as well!
@@Hidden.Light.Photography it was fine, I have them both😁
Awesome, very happy to hear!
In intel chips which version was this added
That is a great question. I believe intel started supporting AVX2 and FMA3 in 2013, but I’m not 100% certain on that. If anyone knows 100%, please throw a comment in here.
Thanks so much for the great information,Tony! I checked and my computer is all set. Every time I update, though, I have to reinstall an older tensorflow.dll in order for the AI software (BXT, SXT, NXT) to run quickly using CUDA. Is this going to be something I'm just always going to have to do?
You are very welcome!! Yes, unfortunately, the tensorflow.dll file will need to be swapped. One workaround I’ve done with good success instead of downloading tensorflow every time is just copy the tensorflow.dll and paste it in the correct spot within PixInsight after renaming the tensorflow file that comes with PixInsight. Hope that makes sense and helps.
@@Hidden.Light.Photography Thanks again, Tony. Yes, I keep the correct copy of tensorflow.dll on my desktop and after I update and check the speed of AI apps, I just copy it to the PI bin folder if needed. I was hoping not to have to do that at some point, but it's not really that big a deal. Thank you for the reply! I appreciate it.
I thought I’ve read somewhere in the PixInsight forums that GPU boosting will be addressed in later updates of PixInsight. I’m not sure if this is one of the fixes, however, I do agree with you that it would be very nice to not have to do this each time.
@@Hidden.Light.Photography I hope so!! That would make things much easier.
Yes it would!
As noted in the video, this shouldn’t affect macOS users, because these CPU features are not directly exposed in macOS. Only Windows and Linux users are affected by this change.
Correct macOS users will not be affected by the upcoming change. Are you currently using macOS?
