My first car was a 95 Grand Marquis that was built on October 29th 1994, the same day I was born. I loved that car, and the shit I did to it was insane. I'd jump it, blow over curbs, non stop burnouts, J-turns and Rockford's, and even went mudding in it a few times, but that car never gave up. The only real problem it gave me in 4 years was blown shocks. I have to buy another Panther soon.
I got an 04 grand marquis limited. By far best riding lowest maintenance car I’ve ever owned. Lucked out grabbed a one owner grandpa car with 40k miles has almost 90k now. And you hit nail on head it’s like driving around in my recliner with bald eagles chasing ya. ✌🏻
I just bought a 2005 with 70K miles. This review is correct. The car is totally enjoyable to drive. I bought it from an old man who was the original owner. It is in pristine condition. You can't find a better quality car for the money.
Until one month ago, I proudly owned a 1998 Grand Marquis LS. It had 120,000 miles when I bought it in 2009 and I only put 30,000 miles on it myself. Easily the most beautifully designed, comfortable and reliable car I've ever owned. Glides like it's floating on a cloud and has power to burn! It can really giddy-up! Every time I took it in for service, the mechanics would ALWAYS say, "you sure got a good engine!" Couldn't even hear it running - purred like a kitten. Broke my heart when I had to junk it a month ago because of issues that were collectively too expensive to bear. Finding parts was becoming more and more difficult. I've been crying everyday since, and I just won't rest until I find another to replace it. She's an Old School American Beauty Glide-mobile. You can keep your Toyotas and Hondas. They can't compare to the comfort and sleek & stylish American auto-making at its best. I loved that car.
My 94' grand marquis was bullet proof. Put 200k on it and and only replaced a water pump outside of normal maintance. Was still going strong when I sold it. Have a 2002 now.
Just lucked into a 2004 GM GS with 67000 miles, 2 private owners, no wrecks, regular service docs, with five new tires for $8K. (2023 post covid/supply chain chaos) The only repair to do is a 2 x 3" rust spot. By far, the most relaxed driving in my 68 years. Happy to see a youngster in tie dye appreciating these. GMs beat CVs since most CVs were abused. EZ stereo upgrade since it is double DIN. I can only think I will die before this ride does.
I have a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Premium and I love this car!! It is like driving my couch everyday!! This particular one has bucket front seats, a center shifter, the most powerful 4.6L V8, with dual exhaust, and a moon roof!! It extremely reliable, runs great, I can get 20mpg if I'm easy on the throttle, still solid as rock with 110,000 miles on it!! Looks like new. I can say it's the best vehicle I've ever owned!! And i've owned 20 vehicles.
Only car I buy for the last 28 years. Currently on my 6th a 2003 CTE "Custom Tasca edition". I put about 225,000 miles on them before I dump them for another. Great comfortable and reliable car.
Ok...as a larger person, this is the ultimate vehicle. I cannot stand those center consoles that squeeze you into an uncomfortable position. As you say...the Grand Marquis is like a sofa... and it is so comfortable. The bad thing... they have a known problem that develops. When you hit the brake it accelerates. I just had my throttle body, and then my acceleration pedal replaced. That was not enough..I then had my computer reprogrammed. Aside from that I love the car.
Owner of a 2004 Grand Marquis. Just over 180k miles and still going strong. Just recently did a Intake and Plugs and Wires swap about 160k miles. But Yes, I will keep this car until the wheels fall off.
My 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis has 245,200 miles on her clock and she's still running strong. She has been babied her whole life with exceptional maintenance. I feel near certain this ole girl will break 400,000. She still looks damn near new.
Hey. I've owned five Panther based platform cars in my lifetime with my 07 GS being my current daily driver. I agree with your review of the car. If there was something to complain about, it would be its handling in winter weather. My example has 70 K original and is a dying breed. Those of us 50 and over recall growing up riding in these vehicles as they were commonplace back in the 70s and 80s. That's another reason I like it. It's familiar like a well worn, but comfortable pair of shoes you just cant rid off.
I bought a 2002 grand marquis for 500$ in canada. Owner said it had a bad transmission. I checked the fluid it was empty. Fixed the leak for 5$ (rear seal) runs good
@Garrison Nichols lol their loss for not figuring out such a simple thing glad the trans was still good it was yours from that point though i love those years of volvo
I got my 2003 free from my in -laws. I will have it 9 years this August. It had 93,000 now 165,000 miles. I did put in a remanufactured transmission 4 years ago. I do my own oil changes and some repairs. I put rebuilt lighting module , new fan, pulleys, blower motor, new accumulator for A C. Remanufactured climate control. New wiper motor. And new driver door window motor. Spark plugs and coil packs. This over the course of many years. I do love driving this car. If I had to pay labor for all but the transmission repair maybe I wouldn't. Oh yeah I'm soon 69 years old.
Thanks for this one Zach! We just picked an '05 and really are beginning to like it. Its my first Ford in the 45 years I've been driving which provides a little insight of my opinion of Ford's. Its needs work but its real gem think. We will see. Ill probably have my son sell it when I'm done with the work. Thanks for the video. It was educational for me.
Just bought an 07 with 50K on it. Its like a brand new car. I love it. Had a 95 P71 for ten years and drove it until it had better than 300K on it. If you take care of these cars they take care of you.
I love mine 2003 GS with only 108000 miles, I bought it new in March 2004 (I think) but always work close to home and because always sleep out , now I’m replacesing the side moldings
Great video.. I admit at the beginning when I saw how young you are I thought, what's he going to know about a car like this, these are for people my age (mid 50s) lol.. but you really nailed it. Loved the "driving a couch" comment. The other thing that's nice about these is with the auto trans shifter on the column, there's no center console on the floor.. Lots of left-to-right leg room. Another thing no one makes anymore, except in some of the big pickups. Nice video.
I have the 2003 grand marquis LS (ultimate edition). Really love the car. Got 111,000 miles on it so far, and what really makes the ultimate edition different is it came with the leather heated seats and the air ride suspension. Really love the car and plan on keeping it as long as i can.
3:47 I heard that it’s not good to run something continuously from the obd2 port. Something like it might burn it out and then no more obd? 🤷♂️ It’s a cool idea. My aftermarket head unit can display similar stuff but you have to buy the adapter cable which I didn’t. Not sure if that uses the obd2 port or not.
Just found this video...great job. Mine is a silver 2008 GM, bought new, with a black grill and dual Magna Flows. It's covered and never driven in the snow. Actually drives like the 67 Chevy Chevelle I learned to drive on, and probably would go unnoticed if you could take it back to the late 1960's.
I absolutely love my grande marquis, everytime my mechanic get a hold of it he has to take it for a test drive. And i only have 86,000 miles on it, and am hoping to get 200,000 or more miles on it. I would like to upgrade my stereon and get the car wrapped but thats about it in terms of upgrades.
It's 2.73, and I love it. It's great for cross country trips, doing 65 mph with the overdrive and cruise control on, it gets 30+ mpg, and the engine is turning over just above idle. Probably why they last so long. My recently purchased 2007 (my third Grand Marquis, all LS models) has just 47,000 miles on it and should last forever if the other two are any indication. I put 328,000 miles on my first one and it was still running fine. My '07 does have a tachometer. The beige color is certainly 10 times better than black. My 2007 interior is light gray, exterior is metallic silver. All three of mine were/are completely stock. Avoid the white paint. It peels off like crazy. And the car cannot be repainted unless you remove ALL of the defective white paint.
I have a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis LS w/ Handling (178K) Its paint is a bit bad, but it was garaged for most of its life as a weekend car by a old man. It runs mint, just like it did off the lot in 2000. I've had zero problems with it, I even used it for a bit of light street racing. While the paint is being restored (clear coat is peeling and it needs tint and rims polished.) It beat a 2003 Mustang like nothing. Once it hit second gear on a rolling start against a 2014 (i believe) mustang. The mustang got it on the kick off, but then it hit second and shot like lightening. I keep getting offers at car meets. Everyone wants to buy it off me or get to see the engine. Everything in it is stock and offical ford replacement parts. (Timing belt and water pump) those were the only parts added because I quote from the seller "It said in the manual to replace it" Now I don't red line it, just do a few quick blowouts and I do constant checks. I always warm her up before I do anything considered abusive. I never push her on my twice a week drives and I legit only go to the store or back at random. I paid 1,200 USD for it. I did so much research on the Panther Platform you couldn't believe. When I am not driving or showing her off, I go to concerts every few months. Ive only had her for two months and did a light car camping session. The seats are like sleeping on a couch. Not as comfortable as a bed, but good enough to get a restful sleep. Interior wise, I love the interior. It plain and simple, it feels like you are sitting in a thunderbird or some older muscle car its so laid out. Its body roll is easy to get used to and a charm of the vehicle itself. While it is a cruiser, it definitely feels like it should be respected. Its a BIG car with BIG trunk space and a BIG engine. My mother compares it to a small truck. I love it!
While it is a tank and ive done my fair share of scrapes. You can't really damage a car like this. Out of all the cars my family has own. (This car is my first. I learned to drive on a F150 though) this is the most rugged. Despite the sheer size akin to a beater from the 1950s. Its well respected on the road because it looks copish. Which doesn't bother me any, it means people won't launch off a light and hurt someone else. Just look on here "wrecked crown victoria/MGM" and find that majority of these cars that are "wrecked" still drive back from the crashsite. Acting as if nothing has happened! Try that with your new Nissan Rogue. Only downside is the fuel consumption..however performance wise the car loves first gear. You won't leave it much while driving and this is because its a cruiser. The computer will top you at 84 MPH anyways or keep you on first or second. Its also very quiet! Exterior wise. It looks unassuming, its a great heavy sleeper. However any car guy worth his salt will not mess with a Panther. Ive had people refuse with lighter cars sheerly because the power this beast produces. There are so many parts you can add to a wonderful vehicle like this. Mustang to crown vic. Make it look intimidating, offroad or unassuming. Ive seen some that are 500k upwards. Thats what makes the Panther so loved. Car guys or gals who do have them don't let go until they wreck or die. Im a aviation student who goes twice a week to another town to do my training. However I spend most of my time at home.
The fuel pump is in the gas tank but can be installed without dropping the tank. Wonderfull nice idea. Too bad the school boy designers don't put a fitting to check fuel pressure on this model. The pumps are cheap too unless you fall for the b.s. that you need to install factory original. Just watch that the replacement pump has a " bubble" flair on the outlet pipe that the small hose is clamped on. Otherwise the hose might slide off. These cars drive nice and get high 20's per gallon of gas.
I have a 2003 Grand Marquis LS ...White with dark charcoal gray ( almost black ) interior. I love this car Second G-Marquis I have owned ....Closest thing to my first cars i ever owned still out there which were a 64 Impala SS and a 73 Impala. I am going to add dual exhaust to get a little rumble going ...considering adding a marauder grill and a few select Mercruiser decals to make it my own special "Mercruiser" which is my nickname for it. I am even saving up to maybe snag another one if I find the right one.
I have a 2008 Grand Marquis LS I bought it in San Antonio 4 years ago . I was driving and the car was parked in the front of a peace of shit dealership . But I had to bust a u-turn and, go check it out . It had 157k . The engine was like brand new all original parts .. the weather was a good 95 % .. I took it for a ride that day and, I had to buy it .. I drive it ever day since then and, now it's at 196k.. I clean the engine twice a week so that it's never drity .. the way my car is I'm sure I can get 250k if I keep doing what I'm doing to make sure I never slack on maintenance
I put a variable spring in the back to stop the roll and a 3.27:1 axel on accident . I took it off a p71 crown victoria. After that I had to reprogram the ecu because its a 05 drive by wire then i had to find the air box because it ran rich. The previous owner already put dual exhaust on it. I also added a external relay from the light control module for the head lights because I need head lights (lcm recall) . I also upgraded the transmission from a 09 lincoln town car and changed the pigtail to it. After all that I invested in metal timing chain tensioners and replaced the hardware. I need valvue steam seals just run 10w30 instead.
Just bought 2005 marque it great but the only thing is it didn't come with the key fob so I gotta use the key to lock and unlock it..do u knoe anything about programming a new keyless entry..and mine got that key pad on the drivers door the code is not in the trunk how do u 'reset that??
I kinda wish people would stop swapping the transmission for the manual. This car isn't meant for sporty driving despite the fact that it has a V8 and is rear wheel drive. If you want a manual transmission with the 4.6, please get a SN95 Mustang GT.
They put the “certified calibration” on the gauges because in the CVPI, the speedos have to be certified in order to get accurate speeds when pacing someone, so I’m assuming they either certified all the cars, or just recycled all the gauge clusters and didn’t remove it.
that is not a grand marquis gauge cluster, thus the "certified calibration" and 140 MPH speedometer, and black face. Grand Marquis have grey faces and go only to 120. That is a P71 Cluster swapped in.
I have the same car, same color but mine is a 2002. I got it with 94000 on it. Only a few small complaints. #1 the traction control doesnt work. Well unless its under 20% outside, then it works until the car is warm. #2 the wiper motor keeps going. Pisses me off ot no end.#3 the G.M. seems to have a cheesy suspension compared to the crown vic. I've dumped lots of cash into the front end.( To be fair, I do live in Massachusetts and the car is big, heavy, and old, I get it) #4 I've been pissing through the exhaust gaskets that connect the system from the headers.(stock) quick and easy fix but none the less. Still love the car
Hey I love my grand Mercury it's 2003 it's over 222 thousand miles I got her and the range already I named her grace I am also scared that she will stop cuz I want to go on a trip to North Dakota go to Jersey do you think I'll be safe for me to do that with so many miles on her
But it’s so easy to turn into a Vic. And old people bought these and never drove them. Dirt cheap good condition crown vic’s...i don’t see the problem here
I have this car... My 18 year old son drives it.. would like to change the exhaust to make it sound more like a mustang but that's about it for now. I also have a 2000 Lexus LS400 (last year of 4.0) which is almost 300 horsepower.. it goes 0 to 60 in a little over six seconds.. pretty impressive for its time... Come review it.. 😎
I was a dumbass and didnt check my oil for about a month. A byways I open the engine bay and check my oil.... completely dry. No damage to the car no clue how long I was driving with. No oil. I cant tell ya how bulletproof these are.
I'm looking for a grand Marquis. I know there good cars. Couple of guestions. High miles on these cars, do not seem to be an issue. From what I can tell. If the car looks well, and has high end mileage. It shows the vehicle was maintained well. Second, is it true that the suspension on these cars, are similar to the Lincoln. Of course without the airbag suspension that was, I believe, was standard with later year Lincoln's. Now I read up on the 2003 to 2005 margs, and if correct, eighter those years or one of those years had a couple of recalls. One was a head light issue. The lites would shut off while driving. It was said to be some kind of modular or relay. What ever keeps the lites on. Second. The gas filter would leak, causing chances of fire starting. And that, if I read correctly. Purolator after marker set up , even if it looked , and appeared like it was sitting right, would eventually leak. So alot of info here. You seem like your proactive with all cars you evaluate. What are comments on these few things. Looking forward to hear what you got thanks buddy
Hey, I'm the actual owner of the car in the video. I had to replace the lighting control module under recall like you mentioned. That was the only issue I had with it. The coil packs can be a pain in the ass the replace and the transmissions dont last much longer than 200k miles.
I love my 97 g marky. Put over 3k in audio. It’s leaking a lil bit through the thermostat housing gasket bout to put a new o ring in it today hopefully that fixes the only problem I’ve had with it in the year plus I’ve had it 158k so far got it with 137k. Panthers
I just got one today it belonged to a friend of mine & he’s had that thing since they first came out & i think it’s the 2003 model it really is a couch on a V8 it’s so smooth & the leather seats & sun roof what more could you ask for?
These old crown vics or grand marquis are bombproof

(Timing belt and water pump) those were the only parts added because I quote from the seller "It said in the manual to replace it"
Now I don't red line it, just do a few quick blowouts and I do constant checks.
@@hotrodmercury3941 what to look out for in the transmissions with these? I hear they have issues but cant find what to look for on them,
Nice review zach✊
I have had a 2001 Grand Marquis since 2017. I love it so much I am planning on getting another when it croaks (if that ever even happens).
Such an awesome, well built, muscle sedan.
we use to have a '99 Grand Marquis then traded it for an "05 Lincoln Town Car liked both but the Lincoln had more options because it was newer
So where did you film this? Looks like a nice area.
Beautiful Car I Love This Car! NICE My Daddy Has One Keeps It In Mint Condition!!
This car looks even better with the thin white wall tires !!!!!!
A really good video. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I have this car in black with a rag top. Regards
I strongly suggest you do a review of the first generation Hyundai Genesis sedan 4.6! This was a great review, hope to see more from you.
I did a 2012 5.0 last year! Great Car!
Important question: where is the cd rom? My 03 grand marquis has a ce audio option but i can't find it
2005 grand marquis ls owner. Love my car
Got an old cop car that was absolutely abused but the car still runs good it just need minor work struts shocks things of that nature
And also she uses synthetic oil is it bad to change it so regular oil like doing a oil change
I’m about to get a grand marquis this week and I’m trying to figure out if the 93 octane tune is worth it.
2006 MGM , best car ive ever had
Great review, great cars..these, the crown vics and of course the Towncars.
Just bought 2005 marque it great but the only thing is it didn't come with the key fob so I gotta use the key to lock and unlock it..do u knoe anything about programming a new keyless entry..and mine got that key pad on the drivers door the code is not in the trunk how do u 'reset that??
My 2003 has 112000k and it's my daily driver. I do want to put dual exhaust on it .
What about those transmissions though?
What rims are those?
I have a black 2011 grand marquis, all original and keeping it stock but thought about adding P71 suspension and dual exhaust
I have a 2003 Grand Marquis LSE with 60,000 miles.
Can you do a 2019 Subaru Forester Limited?
If I can get one to review!
Shooting Cars okay thx
@@ShootingCars .....and if the heads are still good by the time u get it.
that is not a grand marquis gauge cluster, thus the "certified calibration" and 140 MPH speedometer, and black face. Grand Marquis have grey faces and go only to 120. That is a P71 Cluster swapped in.
How much does it cost to fill up?
Cavarri Comanche 75
@@seanishakay3758 holy shit
Cavarri Comanche depending where u live ofc if you live in Cali you’ll probably pay that price
@@Goku_Kiyosaki I'm in Chicago
@@wholehearted89 I have a 97 Marquis, they have 20 gallon tanks I believe.
Why would he run it down to one quart of oil? If the owner told me that. I would not buy that car
Wiper motor running all the time is a defective (circuit board in the) wiper motor.
Hey I love my grand Mercury it's 2003 it's over 222 thousand miles I got her and the range already I named her grace I am also scared that she will stop cuz I want to go on a trip to North Dakota go to Jersey do you think I'll be safe for me to do that with so many miles on her
My 2004 Grand Marquis , just 12,000 miles and had the third engine fan installed.
Top out at 80 mph. Who told you that lie?
9:21 no, that "honour" goes to General Motors
That's a *REAL* Mercury Grand Marquis with BLACK B pillars. They're the best build quality of any Panther Platform ever made.
i knew i recognized the environment, i live literally 2 minutes from there lol
But it’s so easy to turn into a Vic. And old people bought these and never drove them. Dirt cheap good condition crown vic’s...i don’t see the problem here
Great review. Borrowed one from a friend. Love it! Thanks
Big Old Masonic OK at 3:50, you just can't miss it!!
05 gm ls, i love it 🇺🇸
Is the Host legal driving age?
Is this a Lincoln town car? Or a Ford crown Vic?
That gauge cluster is from a crown Vic. Ha, that’s pretty cool
2.5 in pipes, xpipe, rear cat delete = mustang sound 😎
@@royboy605 thanks
Nice car love❤
Have an 03 replaced water pump at 140 blower motor and resistor twice
Grand Marquis built in Canada? American?
wlwal1 they were made at the St. Thomas plant.
I love my 97 g marky. Put over 3k in audio. It’s leaking a lil bit through the thermostat housing gasket bout to put a new o ring in it today hopefully that fixes the only problem I’ve had with it in the year plus I’ve had it 158k so far got it with 137k. Panthers
dont want to take it past 80? I drive my 2004 at 100 consistently😂No shaking or nothing, a smooth ride😂
With 3.73 gears he probably means the rpms get to high for cruising above 80
I just got one today it belonged to a friend of mine & he’s had that thing since they first came out & i think it’s the 2003 model it really is a couch on a V8 it’s so smooth & the leather seats & sun roof what more could you ask for?
