    Damn...of course she's a Blue Angel, but damn that situational awareness, control, communication, and flying were clean AF.

      No it wasn't. She couldn't even properly communicate the malfunction. They had a hydraulic malfunction and she was using the fighter pilot slang of hyd.

    Wonder what the other person in the aircraft thought. BA 8 is normally used for press/VIP flights. Well done to the pilot getting it down safe.

  • @arnoldsherrill2585
    @arnoldsherrill2585 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Blue Angel 8, is normally the call sign for pilot in command for the C-130 squadron support aircraft attached to the team

    • @kevinmadore1794
      @kevinmadore1794 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's incorrect. Blue Angel #8 is a Naval Flight Officer (NFO) who flies in the back of the 2-seat jet #7, and acts as the Squadron's Events Coordinator. In this case, she's flying with #7, the Narrator, and since she's handling the radios, she uses her callsign, not his.

    • @brothermanv
      @brothermanv ปีที่แล้ว

      The callsign isn't Fat Albert?

      @@kevinmadore1794 thanks for the correction I appreciate that there are a lot of numbers to keep track of in terms of their call signs
      Congratulations on the team selecting a woman for one of the flight slots for 2023., They've got a lot of catching up to match the Thunderbirds, who have already had two.

    So I assume this failure meant no brakes? I didn't catch why they need arresting cables on a full length runway?

    In regard to your title there is no "Hyde" system on an airplane. Hyde is short for hydraulic. There's less confusion if you use the word hydraulic in your title. Controllers and pilots and other personnel just use Hyde as shorthand when time is important and because it's easier. Probably some artificial intelligence system came up with that title. I think artificial intelligence should be renamed artificial unintelligence given the job it does on TH-cam transcribing human speech.

    Surely a fair bit of non-standard terminology here which isn't helping: 'hyd', 'slick' etc

    • @bestguy1294
      @bestguy1294 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not "non-standard" (whatever that is) language for military pilots.

    • @msurcombe
      @msurcombe ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed but is KMSN staffed by civilian or military controllers?

    • @CaptainCAVU
      @CaptainCAVU ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bestguy1294 But it was obviously "non-standard" to the civilian Approach Controller because he asked her at 1:40 to clarify. Even then she continued to talk in jargon instead of simply saying it was a hydraulic failure...
