This is one of my favorite games from all platforms! Never saw such a responsive controls in any game. It's as smooth as possible I guess. May be my favorite soundtrack of all games, such many songs I love and also record on tape and on my phone's dictophone. Intro, info, terraport, day 7 are my favorite tracks. Also it's like battletoads - about a half of levels has totally different gameplay. And yeah graphics is gorgeous. It's so strange to me that about this game are near to zero reviews on youtube and people don't mention it like anywhere. Also there was a sequel it is first vectorman game I played. It is as smooth as first one but I don't like as much it's setting, it's music is cool but has not such positive attitude as first one, but also has favorite track lava falls race, has no such variety as first game so it's a good game but overshadowed by first one.
I loved this game as a kid. I remember it being hard but fun because the animation and controls were smooth and responsive. It’s just fun running, jumping and blasting things and getting different blaster upgrades.
Vectorman is one of the best action platformers of the 16-bit era. Give me Vectorman over Mega Man X all day. A+ for using gameplay footage that blends the dithering. Looks beautiful as the devs intended 👌
I try to capture footage straight from original hardware whenever possible, for exactly that reason: emulators don't always reflect how games were meant to be seen.
I sadly could never get into this one for as good as it is. The genesis always had a multitude of action platformers on tap at any given time and other than it's visuals I would prefer something by Treasure or the Shinobis. I find at least that in the compilation lists it usually is near the end of the list chronologivally, so by the time I get to it, I've already had my fix of high quality Genesis equivalents
I'll be honest, Vectorman never jumped out at me as a kid. It took until this very playthrough for me to finally "get" it. And man, nothing will ever beat Treasure. They're like the Rolls-Royce of run-and-guns.
Vectorman is 100% less impressive than DKC. Vectorman sucks. We all laughed at this game back in the day. Everyone thought it was a spin off of "Ballz 3D"
9:30 You can also destroy the tail and then the rest
This is like a game designed by those Demo Scene people who do C64 and Amiga miracles. The work they did with limited color palette is amazing.
It's one of those games whose graphics rely _heavily_ on dithering. It looks much better on real hardware/CRT than straight emulation.

Hope someone would be encouraged to try it and will love it like I do
Earthworm Jim is my got to example of "1990s' as a style" but VectorMan also exudes 90s' charm.
Oh I absolutely agree.
I played the shit out of Vector man.

It's easy to beat these days but back then I see why it was a challenge

I concur.
Looks good, but no fun.
I couldn't understand why it was highly rated.
The soundtrack fucks
I hate those bees.
Same, dude.
I third this. Bee enemy can eat my shorts.

Sucks? It's fine. A little weird but fine.
Nah I loved this game😂
Different and better than Donkey Kong.
