Glad to hear your Diesel Tahoe is working out. I’m in the market for same Tahoe, just doing more research on the LM2 engine in the 2024 Tahoe RST, been reading mixed reviews on that LM2 engine, keep us posted on any new issues with that LM2.
Yes sir. So far so good. They have the 2025 coming out too that will have a facelift but I believe they are still using the LM2. Wish I could get the dpf removed. But other they that all is well. Check out my shorts. I just posted a video 0-60 pull
@@jv3865 I’m in the same boat as you. I wanted a Yukon V8. But I have read a lot about the lifter problem. Sounds terrible. On the other hand, the diesel sounds like a pain in terms of maintenance, DEF, stalling, emissions etc. I just don’t know.
@grouchosays stalling? Or the auto shut off at the light? Maintenance isn’t really that bad. I mean unless you plan on drive all over the country in it lol. But if u are driving it it will still last you longer. I would drive both and see which one you like. I had a buddy that bought a Tahoe with the 5.3 and the lifters when out at 10k miles and it sat in the shop for 6 months and they wouldn’t cover a rental under warranty
Just spoke to an owner of a 2023 Suburban RST on Friday July 5, 2024, she has over 30,000 mils on it with no issues and she loves it , especially with the better fuel mileage, sounds like GM has resolved all the issues in the 2023+ Duramax LM2 engines.
Had a 21 1500 with the 3.0 duramax. Unfortunately it didn’t make it past 600 miles before emissions acted up and GM could not figure it out after 15 visits. Great MPG’s on it but Delete asap lol. Unfortunately them smaller diesels the exhaust brake ain’t much, nothing like a Cummins. Does and Chevy can’t touch the Cummins exhaust brake.glad to see ya have better luck with the 3.0 than I did, also I had the 2.8 mini max and that was a great set up in a zr2.
Ya I seen those out there but nothing yet for the 2023. They only go up to 2022. I think they changed some things. My buddy has a 2021 and loves his so I couldn’t resist. Sorry urs didn’t work out. Chevy seem to run into a lot of issues after the Covid shut down. I think and pray we’re good to go now
Great video! I'm happy to hear that your diesel Tahoe is still going strong for you. I'm looking to get the 2025 Tahoe and I'm considering the Duramax option. I've heard these engines need more maintenance. Do you feel like you spend more on the maintenance and do you feel it's worth the extra money and better mpg? I don't plan to do any towing either, just my daily driver with a-lot of long range driving.
@@mjgarage1 Thanks so much for the feedback, I appreciate It. Lots of videos I've seen have been on the fence but I think theres more pros than cons with the Duramax option. Looking forward to future videos!
@@koharu.mochii yes agreed. There are always going to be a few bad apples that fall from the tree. I’ve got a new video coming out 20k mile Review. And I’ve posted a few videos and shorts if you seen them. Fuel mileage is amazing for such a bigger SUV too. I don’t pull with it but I have 1 or 2 times like 4wheeler and side by sides. Pulls amazing too.
Great report! Do you put additive in? What brand of diesel you use. I think GM recommends Top Tier. I want to buy a Tahoe but I have read about the lifters problem with the V8. So I’m thinking about the Duramax. Lotta people like it. But I am new to diesel. Thanks!!! Nice family. I’m a 73 year old geezer who just wants a Tahoe without engine failure. What kind of maintenance do you do on it like oil changes?
Hey @grouchosays thanks for the comment. No different types of diesel fuel unless you get tractor diesel which is red. Not legal in any state to run and will clog your fuel filters faster. But must ppl like to run shell or BP. I run it all lol. You can get a diesel additive but never run it. Just watch out for water in the fuel. Most new diesel have a water separator. The LM2 is the second gen which is the LZ0 that came out in 2023. The first gen was out since 2019. Here is a link you can see what motor trend says about it. www.motortrend.com/features/3-0-duramax-engine/. Oil change every 7500 miles. Little more than 5.3 engine. It will hold like 10 quarts which is crazy. More torque and towing up to 13k pounds. But ya we love it. I know ppl that have them and haven’t had any problems. Very quiet too compared to most diesels. You will have to add def fluid but only every 7k miles. epa bull crap that keeps it from blowing black smoke. 💨 well worth the investment
Do you think it's worth getting Duramax for someone that will mainly be driving in the city and will very rarely tow anything? Trying to decide between duramax and 5.3
Well I think it’s kinda like buying a 2wd suv cuz u think u won’t drive it in the winter but I say better to have then regret later saying u wish u would of spent the little extra lol

Love your color and rim choices. 1,800 RPM at 77 is pretty sweet.
I'm waiting for the 2025 Tahoe with the newer version of the diesel.
Ya I’m sure the 2025 will have some tweaks to work out too. If they stop trying to make them quit they will do what they are made to do.

Thank you. Yes I feel they are worth the extra money. You get it back base on what you save at the pump plus the longevity you get from the diesel
