Every time I watch Phil Hartman I smile and then I am sad. He was taken from us too soon. Blessed are his children They had a dad who clearly adored them. He spoke so lovingly and shares many wonderful glimpses into his relationship with them. Hope they are well. RIP Phil. xo

They really should make a mini series out of it and make it as accurate as possible . He worked off and on for years as a graphic designer and designed at least 40 album covers. Also he worked for years and a comedy true that did a lot of Improv called the Groundlings and it just seems like the guy always worked really hard and put his heart and soul into everything he did... except something weird would happen with the relationships . And according to the stories here he was always popular. When alone often would sometimes have not much of a personality and didn't really seem to know who he was.

I don't think he was entirely making up the part about being shy around Arnold. And he compensated for the shyness by turning on a more manufactured personality. It's funny how in the one "musical" introduction to a Steve Martin-hosted SNL episode, the lyrics Phil sings say, "You're going to see the real Phil Hartman tonight," followed by Steve's, "I wouldn't do that, Phil." I think that line also had a ring of truth to it.
