My decision came down to the Farpoint/Fairview 40 and the Porter 46, I chose the Porter 46 because it is a much better bag to pack for traveling, the straps on the F/F 40 are a bit better, but the Porter 46 is for traveling not long hikes. Great video.
We went with Farpoint/Fairview 40. We aren’t and will probably never travel with a laptop so the placement of it wasn’t a dealbreaker for us. We did a trial pack of it and our 32oz hydro flask fit perfect in the mesh pocket in the front. Every single sales associate that has done travel all recommended the Farpoint 40. 😊
im debating between this and the porter 46, I like that the farpoint has a easier zipaway for the shoulder straps, and is 100% carry on even for smaller planes but the porter is on the largest side of the carry on allowance, what made you choose farpoint over porteR?
I've taken 7 trips of at least 3 months in the last 4 years and always been with my Porter 46. All climates, lots of continents, all terrains, lots of budget airlines. Never an issue. Built to last. But looking to go even smaller. I have a separate bag for my laptop and space for other things like headphones which i use as my day pack. so really wanting to compress even more. Few more years (like 8) until I've traveled every country :D, Osprey been with me since the beginning, haha
between Farpoint 40 vs Ozone 46 which one is better and why ? I was expecting you to make a video comparison between the 2 but you have the Porter 46 vs Farpoint 40 instead ? lol
@@ductrung3993 I feel like comfort can be very subjective for each person. I'm 5"10' (1.8 m) and I packed my bag pretty full weighing around 22 Lbs (10 Kg) so it was definitely pretty heavy load to carry around, but the bag felt pretty good and I would rate it around an 8.5/10 in this situation.
Excellent video! I ended up going with the porter 46 for my one bag travel bag and love it. My daily carry which almost holds as much as the porter is the NorthFace Router Transit backpack. Check that one out you would love it if you like the ozone.
Hi David, thank you for your reply and for looking but no, sadly they only have Ozone 36, 42 and 75 in trolley form with wheels. I'm gonna watch your vid again, but I thought you had the rucksack version. Have a nice day. M.
Ozone 46 (the backpack) is still available online from the REI outlet! On sale too - Only the red available: www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/143016/osprey-ozone-46-travel-pack
Thank you so much! It was a fun adventure trying to figure out the best pack 😅 And yes the Farpoint would is great and I'd definitely like to see that feature too! :D
Great Video! Does the back of the Ozone still have structure if there is not a laptop in the compartment? I’m also trying to decide between the Farpoint(Fairview) and the Ozone but I am not traveling with a laptop so the placement in the Farpoint is not a deciding factor. But if the Ozone is flimsy without the laptop that definitely would be! Let me know!
Thank you so much Ashley! The one and only sturdy component of the Ozone is actually the back :D So no need to have a laptop! I used the laptop compartment for my shoes and sandals, and it was very functional for that purpose. For reference, I show my packing of the Ozone in this video: th-cam.com/video/YtidaY3J9oE/w-d-xo.html
Hi David, yours is really the funniest video. I've subscribed. Was considering the Fairview/Farpoint 40 but the front bottle holder and position of PC put me off, so I decided on the Ozone too. Unfortunately, just half a year after your fab vid, the Ozone seems to have been discontinued?? Not on Amazon or Ebay anywhere. What a disappointment ☹☹☹. I will start hunting the stores.
Awesome! Thank you so much :D It was so much fun making the video but sooo difficult actually picking the backpack :O lol That's interesting what you mention! I couldn't see it in Amazon either, but checked Osprey directly and it appears they still have it in stock: www.osprey.com/us/en/product/ozone-travel-pack-46-OZONE46.html Good luck and enjoy your travels!
Some people use the Fairview 55 as a carry-on without problems, but is technically larger than carry-on specifications. So to use a 65L sized bag as a carry-on would seem even more of a stretch, but it really depends on the dimensions of the pack.
100th Like!!! Thanks for the helpful video it really is a tough choice. I still don't know if I want the 40L or 46L. UGH!!! I think I'm going to have to start with the 40L and if it's not big enough move up to the 46L.
Porter all the way!
what should i get poreter 46 or fapoint 40 whats the major difference

No more Ozone 46? :(
Red is great

So you probably want the Farpoint then (to go a little smaller).
My Porter 46 has been with me to 4 continents. It has sentimental value now but if like a better harness for longer walks.

You are missing the convertable, carry on packs, mine has wheels, shoulder straps and a smaller detachable day pack
So many options to choose from! lol But I didn't want any wheels and the convertible packs I saw were for bigger sizes than carry-on specifications.
@@ddrawer14 if the Farpoint's comfort is a 10, what score would the Ozone get for comfort?

Alright!! Glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate the complement as well as the additional tips :D
I have the Porter as well, I bought it last year. I was watching this video rooting for the Porter 46 the entire time lol
3 years later and I would have gone with the Ozone 46
Porter 46 ALL DAY

A fun comparison! :D I'd like a Farpoint (Fairview) with the computer to the back! The carrying system is important to me.

I have one to sell - used only about 5 times. I am getting the Farpoint instead.
Can I use 65 as carry on?

These are the exact 3 bags I'm deciding between, thank you for this!
