@@theeshyguy that’s a little bit more credible though, and he is being magically forced to be honest and speak the truth, theoretically you can just interpret both of these as him being aware of what he is on some level and saying that, even if *normally* he wouldn’t.
Even under that interpretation I don’t think it’s very credible he’d call his group « reactionary », I think he should’ve just given his specific ideology or said he was just a terrorist.

That excuse works much better for the « terrorist » part than the « reactionary » part in my opinion, and in either case it’s far too generous toward the movie, I was just pointing out the possibility.
Martha Kent was sent checks from Bruce Wayne but she sent them back with "You killed my son" written on them but no-one told Bruce.
It would fit this world building...
And when Clark sent her checks to support her she sent them back with "Your Father would have been proud if he was here", "I will blow this money like how the tornado blew away your dad", "At least you won't just stand there and let me die", and "I still remember the life insurance check after you left your dad to die."

If the justice system accepts Wonder Woman's lasso of truth in the court system, why doesn't she just wrap it around Barry Allen's dad and let him tell his exonerating alibi, where it can be accepted as truth by the justice system?
I kind of remember one of the comics establishing that the lasso works on subjective truth. Like if you lasso a flat earther and ask them if the earth is round they would say no. So if the flashes dad believes he's innocent, it wouldn't hold up in court.
@@ksolesky2 If he truly believes he's innocent, to the point that the lasso accepts it as truth, you could then make the argument for not guilty by reason of insanity, because the defendant truly does not understand what they did was wrong and/or has no idea they did anything wrong

@@ksolesky2 Even if that was true most sources I found simply say there was a lack of evidence in her case (which somehow means husband must have done it because reasons....?) with one source saying she was stabbed. It would be a simple matter to continue asking him questions like "is he responsible for her death?" and if he answers yes then follow up with "in what way?" If they have a time of death then asking him where he was and what he was doing at that time would also be important could easily give the jury reasonable doubt. Subjective truth or not those kinds of questions under the lasso of truth would get to the bottom of the real truth or at least his part or lack of in her death.
Because people speak the truth as they see it, not the objective truth. That's why the "reactionary terrorists" line doesn't make sense.

@@Jaded_Jester Nah, she was just willing to, it's just that in the movie there was an emotional struggle for Wonder Woman to let Steve go back to being dead so she could get her powers back in order for her to defeat the big bad. The plot point of Steve having body-jacked a guy was never acknowledged as a reason for him to leave, they didn't care.

So... This movie feels weirdly smaller than Man of Steel. First movie has higher stakes than the ensemble fifth film in the series, because Superman is only backed by a regular military which proved ineffective against the better equipped, much more powerful, organized and disciplined kryptonian soldiers with a much more destructive terraforming process centered in one of the world's largest cities. Here, he's got five other teammates which prove highly effective against the disorganized and poorly equipped horde of bug people which even Batman can dispatch with relative ease, with a weird floopy terraformer in the middle of nowhere with a boss who is clearly and measurably weaker than Zodd.
On top of that, Wonder Woman's a rappist, Batman's a mass murderer and Superman is one dead girlfriend away from enacting world domination. What the hell is this series?

It actually would've fit in with Whedon's wacky cut of the film.
Every single time they said his name my brain immediately chimed in with "Magic Carpet Ride."
In CoredyFX review he could not take Steppenwolf seriously at all so he just called him Stevenwolf the entire video.

I'm starting to think it could be cool if they made a movie where the villain is just a normal lawyer guy.
He starts by getting a couple of thugs set free because their testimonies were compelled by wonder woman, infringing on their 5th ammendment rights.
He then gets the charges a couple of other guys dropped since the flash kinda just dropped off at the police station after a bank robbery; since the flash took them so quickly that they weren't recorded correctly on the security cams and the chain of custody is broken; there's no way to prove that these are the guys from the robbery.
Then, batman shows up outside his office and tries to talk to him about it, but the lawyer recorded it all and gets a restraining order against batman, since batman was intimidating him.
He then starts a suit against superman, on behalf of the families that have been killed in superman's collateral damage, superman loses the suit and has to pay damages to the families.
In the end, the lawyer becomes really famous and he starts running for DA, running on a platform of justice for everyone.
He wins and starts criminal proceedings against cyborg for possession of illegal firearms.
Turns out that the now-DA is actually connected to the mob, using his position to shield mob-members while going after the heroes... batman has to figure this out with some low-key old-school detective work and show the population the truth, while facing up to the fact that the way they have been conducting their 'justice' has not been ok.
That would've been a fantastic use of Max Lord instead of Wonder Woman 1984

That story sound like a very good two-parter for the classic Justice League animated show. Not a very good movie idea.
Souds awesome, but a bit long for it to be fleshed out enough in a movie, perhaps its more the stuff for a great series.
This would be a major risk as far as a marketable, ensemble superhero flick. Doesn't sound cinematic. But I would read this, as a comic, 100%.
Okoye from Black panther sees guns and says, "So primitive." Then she sees the amazons and goes home to rethink her life.
Accept it took Thanos himself actually having to come to Wakanda himself to retrieve the stones his Generals were killed trying to grab on his command.
The Amazons,with a Valiant effort,were the first to Fall to Steppenwolf,a minor pawn of Darksied.
At least Wakanda’s King Guard got laser spears for Infinity War

There are definitely people out there that would refer to Clark as Kal/Kal-El for understandable reasons...Wonder Woman is _not_ _one_ _of_ _them._ There are some, of course, such as...
-The hologram of Jor-El and other artificial beings within the Fortress of Solitude? Makes sense for them. The former is a recreation of the father that gave him the name, and the latter were programmed with that as his name.
-General Zod? Makes sense for him. He considers kryptonians to be above virtually all other life. The notion that Clark would consider himself anything but a kryptonian would be, at best, a delusion that needs to be corrected.
-Darkseid and others from Apokolips? Makes sense for them. He's either Kal-El, or Superman. They represent power and resistance, and thus a problem. Clark Kent is beneath their notice.
-Somebody like the Preserver from TAS? Makes sense for him...but he didn't even call him Kal-El. He considered Clark's value to begin and end as his status as the last kryptonian. That is the only thing that makes him valuable, and he even said outright calls his powers unnatural because they were a result of a sun different from that of Krypton. He only even speaks to Lobo in cold, clinical terms, and completely echews using his name once he's helped capture Superman and becomes little more than 'the last czarnian,' another specimen to preserve in his collection. But even then, he makes deliberate concessions to Superman _and_ Lobo because taking sentient beings is out of the ordinary for him, and he wants them to be as comfortable as possible.
-Somebody like Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl? Makes sense for her, though she alternates between Clark and Kal at times, which also makes sense. She actually spent her childhood on Krypton and was introduced to Clark by his birth parents. She was sent from Krypton as a teenager and has a lot of reasons to still be mourning the loss of her family and her world, and being reunited with Clark on Earth was a lifeline in no small part _because_ he was a connection to the life she had lost. Even then, she generally calls him Clark, and calling him 'Kal' is usually only something that happens when she's incredibly stressed or outright lapsing into speaking kryptonian.
Point is, the people that refer to Clark as Kal-El either knew him as Kal-El and do so out of habit, have some sort of disdain for identity as Clark Kent, or a combination of the two. So why in the name of all that's good would Wonder Woman be calling him that? And from a meta perspective, they reshot the line for the Snyder cut, so clearly someone recognized that it was an awful reading. So why not change the line? If the issue was somehow not wanting her to call him 'Superman' or 'Clark' then just have her shout, 'No, don't!' It's two syllables and hopefully easy for Gal Gadootenstein to shout convincingly.

He also makes a great geralt, it's a shame the creators have such contempt for these beloved characters and stories.
Henry Cavill has been so completely misused by Hollywood. He’s a really good actor and, by all accounts, a pretty decent human. But he’s gotten very few _good_ or well-written scripts for characters that he’s suited to play; it’s just a shame. I don’t blame him for seeking new approaches the entertainment industry-particularly ones that exalt stories and heroes over corporate messaging.
All of a sudden .. the Jostice League becomes a bloody masterpiece.
It really is an exercise in recognising the good within the bad

So why didn't Cyborg's security shit go off when the huge danger threat of Steppenwolf and Parademons were around, but only when Superman was?
You _could_ interpreted as his body recognizing that Steppenwolf was a lower-level threat when compare to Superman.
He could have taken SW in a one-on-one and possibly win.
There's no win scenario when fighting against Injustice Superman.

I remember watching that scene of Supes comparing Hope to a river and thinking if it's the same river "Pa Kent" talks about in BvS. The one which overflowed and destroyed his neighbour's farm. Very inspirational.

I always hated that the mother boxes were god items, from my readings of DC they are these common items that are insanely powerful, and thats what makes them so cool. To the new gods they are common items, given to anyone who needs to go off world, like a cell phone or communicator, but to us they could change the world, and that dichotomy is what made them so cool.

1:49:05 I understand why Meme Repository cut the clip there, but it's still a bummer. Superman's "World of Cardboard" speech is great.
I've only seen youtube clips of JLA, but that speech practically gave me chills.
That speech was what made me realize that, while Clark will hold himself back out of his sense of morality and justice, he still feels incredibly frustrated that he can never just let loose. Doomsday and Darkseid were some of the instances where he was able to actually let go of his restrictions, since they could actually take the damage.
Why watch 4 hours of Justice League when we can wait for the 16 hour EFAP version.

They mentioned it but never said anything about Supergirl who is alive apparently since they already casted her.
If I was charitable to the writers, I'd say that they meant the corpses aren't showing signs of decaying after about a year, which wouldn't necessarily apply to someone that crashed thousands of years ago.
@@alexandergreene461 Well freezing alone wouldn't stop things decaying, unless somehow the ship managed to stay airtight despite crashing and didn't take any damage over thousands of years of arctic weather.
Again, that's if I'm assuming that the writers did even 5 minutes of research into things rotting in cold temperatures since that's how long it took me.
I'd be fine with the booyah gag going throughout this ENTIRE stream.

Watching this after Mauler's video on the Snyder cut is just... it's amazing how much Whedon tried to save this movie by fixing all the plot issues and characterizations, and then gets crapped on by the Snyder cult.
Like, the weird face on Superman is not so horrible it distracts from Superman actually being Superman for once in these movies.

The first time Cyborg interacts with someone, almost immediately he is accepted. Wonderwoman just asks him for help saving the world. He mopes. The Flash just chats with him and genuinely tries to be nice to him (cringe aside).
I totally get Cyborg being insecure because he physically looks different and has strange stuff in his mind, but literally no one treats him abnormally and there’s nothing painful about this new body. His attitude is eye-rolling.
It might have been better if they focus on the fact that he might feel like he is losing his mind and that's why he wants to be isolated

It'd make more sense for Flash to be weird but at the same time its not weird that he doesn't hes faster than light.
Its not really an even comparison to compare his interactions with superhumans to normal humans, which i believe we got none of in either this or Snyder league.
Also he is a teenager with depression. His depression doesn't disappear because 5 people he *works with* were nice to him.
Depression isn't a switch that gets flipped like in Steven Universe Future.

Jeez, at least in MoS it was clear that Superman's intervention was necessary to save Earth, human small arms and jets had absolutely no effect on the Kryptonians.
But in this one missiles can break the shielding and destroy the tower? Any modern air force should've been able to swoop in and annihilate that place easy-peasy.
Pet peeve of mine but "speedster" is a term specifically for characters using the speed force. Characters who arent using the speed force are just fast no speed force required here.
I can agree to this, Supe and Flash alone could have cleaned this whole army but nah…
"Stephen Wolf" sounds like a great name, just an incredibly unintimidating one entirely unsuitable for this kind of villain.
Funny thing is his first comic design isn't even intimidating at all. Only later we got a design similar to the movies but the movies fucked up by trying to overcompensate by making him a giant.

Flash vs Superman for speed: I think Smallville handled it pretty well. One episode, Clark met a kid named Wally West who was a speedster. It was unclear who was faster, so at the end of the episode they did a foot race. Clark was going full out, Wally running right next to him, when Wally started running backwards, waved, then took off. Over the horizon and out of view in about 2 seconds. It was a nice way to show that Wally had been holding back the whole time.
It was Bart Allen, not Wally West.

@@l-shadow1775 The Justice League is a very colorful and most often brighter group with Batman being the exception. I’m sick of seeing the “DC is dark” defense, cuz DC overall is no darker than Marvel. Marvel has had their fair share of darker stories.

After seeing Snyder cut, this movie is the definition of “perhaps I treated you too harshly”
Ok, the biggest problem i had with snyder is the flash tapping wonder woman back her sword, cuz in that cut theres nothing there for her to hit. She just grabs her sword and lands next to flash. Making the entire moment pointless. Her sword wouldve just hit the ground like one second before her. The outcome was no different than it would be if flash didnt do that, but snyder either wanted that cool moment or its whedons moment and he decided to keep it.
That encapsulates Snyder's movies. Cool moments.
The best villains were the friends we made along the way... Heeey, wait a minute!?
