Quicksilver quickstor here for the last 10 years, stays fresh for 12 months, all my bikes (from 1952 to 1999) are on the button 24/7/365, start and run them now and again, carbs spotless inside. Leaving dry for months can actually cause more issues if say damp as can all the "winterisation" cobblers that never happened before bikes became summer toys. Much better to use a preserver / inhibiter. Also have a boat with a 600cc triple Suzuki 4 stroke with CV carbs, not a hiccup in last 10 years using the same system and stuff, that is outside all year round sat in water! Fuel topped is always good, system has proved itself for me at least over a decade of winters.
Cheer up mate, not the end of the world. You can do this or just ride your bike. Boggles me why people don't ride in the winter. Just gear up and you are all good. Nothing like riding to a nice Cafe on a cold day.
Don't throw the fuel away! It'll be fine if it's E5. If you must change it, just use it up in the lawnmower where it will DEFINATELY be OK The alternative is to store the tank empty and spray with fogging oil.
Good solid advice with no bells and whistles - thanks

really great advice bro, thanks so much!
Happy to help!
@@mcycle24 Great tips, especially the part about leaving the drain screw open, much appreciated.

Don’t be rude, the guy is trying to help us. Also salt ruins bikes in the winter.
@stevetop5970 it's called sarcasm. Don't be standing up for someone else's feelings because YOU find it unjust. Salt also washes off :-/
@ Don’t be so judgmental before knowing what someone else is going through.
This is great advice for anyone wanting to store their bike over winter.
I can handle a dry crisp morning in the winter but fuck that rain and snow lark it's no fun and the bike ends up shit high.
@ yep, and salt in the electrics plays havoc.
Problem I've had is the failure of the o rings in the connector tubes between the carbs, despite running the carbs dry and draining the bowls.

And a bag of dessicated sodium silicate. Just remember to remove before refilling!
