    Thanks for the info, mate! I'm about to get my first and second " REAL" tattoos and want to be as safe as possible when it comes to having it heal properly. Both are just pretty simple line drawings with maybe some back shading to make them pop a bit more, that likely won't take more than 10 minutes and to me that seems like a good place to start before I go all "I just want a full sleeve and have never had a tattoo before!!!" so I know what I'm getting myself into, I think if I can handle multiple nose pierciengs then I'll survive through a couple of 5 or 10 minute super basic tattoos. I used to be totally terrified of needles....but having one shoved through my nose seemed to alleviate that fear, as it hardly hurt at all really. And I mayyyyyyy have done some ill advised tattooing prison style on myself in the past hahahaha.

    Regarding sunlight, how long do you recommend keeping the tattoo from direct sunlight? I will be going on a holiday 4 weeks right after getting my first tattoo this month and I'm not sure if this period is long enough for my tattoo to heal in time. Of course, I will be suing SPF products (50 SPF) but still, is it enough and also, are there any no's when it comes to SPF products for tattoos?
    Thanks!

      That should be enough time for it to be healed enough to be in the sun and having fun. I prefer mineral-based sunscreens as they contain less chemicals. Sun Bum is a brand that I like that has a good Mineral sunscreen. Let me know if you have anymore questions and HAVE FUN!

    When you say not to swim… how long should I wait before going to the ocean/lake? A month, longer, etc? Thanks!

    • @randomherotattoo
      @randomherotattoo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 weeks to a month. You want to wait till the scabbing portion is done. But your tattoo actually takes longer to fully heal

    Cody,my artist adviced that i take off the saran wrap as soon as i get home which is just 20 mins drive and never put anything until the 5th or 7th day ,is it okay?

    • @randomherotattoo
      @randomherotattoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be fine, just make sure at a minimum you are washing your tattoo with warm water soap. But it also wouldn’t hurt if you used some lotion.

    I have a super dumb question! You know how you said that going swimming and submerging your tattoo will damage the healing process? Does this include baths?

    • @randomherotattoo
      @randomherotattoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! It does include baths. The reason for this is because when you get into a bath, you are now sitting in dirty bath water. You could now, potentially, be getting bacteria and dirt into your open wound (tattoo). Hope that helps.

    I have pets what should i do about the hair getting on the tattoo?

    • @randomherotattoo
      @randomherotattoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! You can simply just wipe off any pet hair that does get on your tattoo. As a preventative, you can wear long sleeves or pants to keep the pet hair off the tattoo. You wouldn’t be suffocating your tattoo as long as it is a breathable material. However, I haven’t really noticed pet hair to cause a big issue. If you do get pet hair on your tattoo and it does cause some sort of reaction, just wash your tattoo with soap and water and go talk to your artist if it worsens. Hope I could help.

    how may days is the healing process?

    • @randomherotattoo
      @randomherotattoo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a lot of variables in that question. But typically 2 weeks. Could be longer, could be shorter.

    • @randomherotattoo
      @randomherotattoo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would just make sure you keep your tattoo clean. Don’t over-wash it and dab it with a clean paper towel to try and keep it dry. Hope this helps.
