My dad was an electrican & would bring home all sorts of wire like this. I would cut them down to shorter lengths & put them in the freezer for a couple days. Then i would take them outside and throw them aginst the concrete driveway and the insulation would shatter & fall off. Can also use dry ice in a cooler for faster freezing

I've seen people get some crazy good definition with foam models left in the mold.
Use a blow torch to soften the cable plastic surrounds , then use the blade, it will fly through like butter.

Brass or bronze are better suited for showcasing, this is more a proof of concept thing

For your two piece patterns why don't you use dowel pins? so they come apart easy and stay inline
also you should use a riddle for applying sand evenly on first cover of the pattern for a nicer finish
and silicon spray on the pattern for a better release agent instead of the old talcum powder way

You realize they have a simple hand tool that you could actually run down that wire and it will literally cut through all that without you having to use a box knife and endanger yourself right? And the two will be will be less than $20!

I like the idea of recyling but who tf wants an all metal axe? Or a metal handle on an axe to be precise. It is slippery. It gets cold in the winter and warm in the summer when sun hits it. It is heavy. There is literally no advantage compared to wood or compound materials.
