I have become convinced that this is the guitar I need to have but D'Angelico has not been doing this for decades and decades. They bought the name and seem to have done a good job of mass producing a decent guitar.
Thanks, Larry! You caused me to look deeper into the D’Angelico line and now I’m stuck on the Excel SS. Whether a Premier Mini DC or Excel SS, those spruce tops sound great!
From my experience with the Mini DC, I think it would love the Gary Moore tone. When it goes into feedback, it's very controllable. The center block is pretty hefty.
The first half was based on a lick that Rick Beato did in a lesson about moving intervals. The last half was my attempt to add a moving scale pattern to it.
Hi, excuse me ... Does the guitar have Duncan Designed model HB101B and HB102 microphones ...? If so ... Are those microphones alnico or ceramic? Thanks
Wow. That's a tough one. The Sheraton has a very unique tone that I haven't heard in a D'Angelico, but the build quality of the D's are pretty hard to beat at the price point. If you're playing a genre with cleaner tones, I think the Sheraton will stand out from the crowd a bit, but the D's are just a joy to play.
The intro licks were through a Tube Driver, so it matches great with overdrive. As far as metal, it wouldn't be my first choice for djent, or styles that need a tight note release. The resonance from the body is one of the pluses of this guitar, but that can muddy things up with modern metal. It can take a good deal of gain without feedback becoming an issue. Would work fine for heavier rock or grunge sounds, Foo Fighters sounds, etc.
Exactly. I’d have one for sure, but the headstock is too much. A finial??? For me those ornate headstocks are fine on big jazz boxes but not on this. Love the body however. I think much nicer than Gibson and Epiphone 339 I’ve been looking at.
Once again, Larry's Playing is fantastic!! ...and a great sounding guitar, as well. Everybody's gonna want one. I do!
Sounds really good. Thanks for playing the same thing with all 3 pickup variations clean. So many guitar demos don't show all the sounds clean.
Thanks for the comment! That is what we noticed too so we are going to try to include clean tones in all our demos.

Neck pickup is beautiful sounding
Nice sound!! Perfect for rhythm guitarists/vocalists like me.
That intro was super epic
Fantastic wasn't it!
Kinda a off pudding question. Do you know gary Moores tone? Do you think this guitar would handle that much gain or would that be too much?

@@MooreMusicGuitars thanks! That's ultimately the kinda sound I'm wanting to go for. I really dig these guitars and Definitely wanna give them a try
Please which amp for that sound ? ....but in general for that semi hollow (apart the same deluxe reverb)
I bought an excel dc in vintage burst because of you
Hope you enjoy it! They are great guitars.
made and japan guitar??
Sold.
What was that lick at the beginning n please?

A lot of the Premier series uses this pickup combination. The HB-101 and 102s both use Alnico V magnets.
If I I want to choose between d'angelico and epi sheraton ii pro, which one do you recommend? Thanks

@@MooreMusicGuitars Hi, thanks for your feedback. Really helpful for me to decide which one to buy
How does it sound with overdrive and can it metal

It looks top heavy . ?

They are not top heavy at all, I have two of these guitars. I also own a Gibson SG, and that thing neck dives constantly.
Very lightweight headstock. The center block balances it well.
this guy is awesome. hes like fuck this shit is sweet. dug it.
"the dude abides"
I came here to say that! 😆😆😆
Made in china or japan?
I believe all Premier-level models are made in Indonesia. Excel and Deluxe are made in Korea.
