TheVadim163 I watch this with my children and the wind song always makes happy my two youngest have to listen to it to go to sleep ever Night when they were younger and they all still LOVE THIS MOVIE AND SO DO I.
I’m a NICU nurse and work with really sick babies. When they’re having a difficult night I’ll sing this under my breath to them as I try to calm or comfort them. It’s amazing how this song from my childhood in the 90s is so profound and emotionally powerful to this day. Amazing
I play this for my niece, nephew, and now my kitten whom I'm nursing back to health. Every night I play this before bed and it is comforting. This is by far one of the best songs ever.
When I was a little girl I watched this over and over again. Then when we moved I lost the copy I had of it, (At the time I only had a VCR and the tape of it) now I'm 17 and my parents surprised me with the copy of the movie. I cried my eyes out, it brought me back, and this song..... Even more so! Thanks for uploading this! :'3
I'll never forget this song, or this movie. My mother gifted this movie to me back in Christmas '98. I was only two, but remember watching this movie back then to now. This is the first song I learned to sing, it's embedded in my memory. I love this movie, and I love how it introduced me to Charlize Theoron and Bill Paxton.
My dad died last night, just watched this and it's broken me up such an emotional song man... I just want to be up there with him :( Rest in paradise dad :(
Brandon Mullins Only a real moron would be so curious about a stranger's death to be so rude to ask about it. Shame on you. His dad is dead, fact or not you should atleast pretend that you care.
I used to sing this song to my nephews when they were babies. I was the only one who could get them to sleep and it was all thanks to this song. I'd sing it softly and hold them close and they'd fall asleep. And when my niece is born I'll sing it to her, as I will my kids one day. I love this song.
I’ve sung this song to my sweet daughter her whole life. If you ever see this sissy I love you more than words could ever describe and if you’re ever sad or feel alone listen to this and know that I’m always with you in your heart. I love you, Haven Alise.
I love that movie i had watched yesterday ive watched since i was child brings so many memories im 25 yrs old no matter how times watch this movie its makes u wanna cry and gets goosebumps heart touching.
This song randomly came out of my mind while I was folding my clothes and I caught myself humming it and I watched this when I was only 8 years old wow.
I'm 36 years old now, but damn. Back then, we knew how to make kid movies and music that would touch our hearts. Nowadays, every kid movie is completely 3D animated (I'm leaving out 2D, hand drawn animation). This just my personal opinion, but live action movies for kids are so much better than 3d animated movies.
movies now days just suck and this is coming from a 24 year old. i watched this movie when i was little and grew up watching it and the very old walt disney movies that actually were good and meant something.
Ruth and Jill were a very complimentary mother-daughter relationship. After their mothers died they were all each other had. I remember the scene at her mother's funeral where she runs off with Joe, they provided comfort to each other in the midst of pain at such an early age. I think the reason a lot of people took Harambe's death hard is because he was a real life Mighty Joe Young to them even down to the ending scene where Joe is trying to save a kid. Rest In Peace Bill Paxton.
R.I.P James Horner. I'm still in shock. You're my second favourite composer of all time. This is a sudden loss to many people, including me, who absolutely adored and loved your music. Dream sweetly in the Heavens, James. You'll be sorely missed. :'(
This music reminds me of the places I'd dream about as a kid. I loved to dream about having adventures in distant lands and felt like life had promised me everything I'd ever want. Yet I often felt impatient waiting for my perfect adventure to happen, so I'd dream up some more stories to pass the time. Sometimes I wish I could gather all those feelings of innocence and wonder and just live in them forever. It's so easy to forget what that was like, but I don't want to lose those memories or inner worlds. They mean a lot to me. I'll guess I'll always have a soft spot for much of James Horner's music, as it's a bit of a nostalgia treasure trove for me. Lol
+Lisa Galarza Hi Lisa, this is the first time I have ever commented on a youtube video in my many years of using youtube, and I just wanted to say that is the one of the realest things I have read in a very long time. I too dreamed for years to escape into some alternate world despite the world that is all too real in front of me. Lately I've been stressed and came to this video. I just wanted to thank you for reminding me to dream again.
Tereza Pinkhasova Wow, thanks for taking the time to write a comment and for your kind words and understanding, glad I could help, hope you're feeling better! :) (Sorry I took forever to respond! )
Brandon Cruise So true! I've been thinking the same thing recently and I'd say I'm more determined than ever to become more than just a dreamer while I'm still young. Thanks! x3
It’s been almost 18 years since I last saw this movie but the moment the vocals kicked in a torrent of memory’s came flooding back and I felt like I could sing the whole song by heart
I saw this movie again after so many years, and I forgot how beautiful and tragic it was. The scene where both lost their mother's and find some comfort in each other as the tribe celebrated her life almost had me in tears.

Austin Hughes-- absolutely! I am 74, old enough to be able to not show feelings. I don't have long left but I would like to hear this song as I cross over. I would like to have this song played after they play Taps so others can share the dream.
When I was a kid I was watched this with my father and this film and song stuck with me, and as of this very moment my heart aches as I listen to it as he's battling cancer. I couldn't ever imagine my life without my mentor,, my best friend, my Daddo.
I live in the country surrounded by mountains. Everyday when the sun sets. I play this song. It's so relaxing and therapeutic. It helps bring out the beauty of each sunset.
James Horner was for me personally the best componist of all times. He was the modern Mozart. Most of the movies would be half as emotional, half as successful, without the music of Mr Horner. Rest in peace, good man. You're not also turning the movies into master pieces, but you're making me (and many other probably, too) feel that enchanting emotions inside me again. I allowed sorrow, worry and fear to overgrow that divine, energetic and magical something within me. But then I'm here, listening to your music. It liberts my soul. It is as in the middle of a room full of darkness a bright light is shining from above. Shining on a small dying, yet alive, little tree. Thank you, Mr Horner. Thank you for reminding me of what's real
Say what you will about this film, but there's no doubt that this piece of music is beautiful. I have no idea what they're saying in Swahli, but it sounds so beautiful that I don't care. I love James Horner.
This Movie Bring Back Sweet Memories Of My Dear Dogs. Now I Am Leaving Near Forest Edge, Do See Some Wild Animals Moving Freely. It Is Beautiful Feeling.
I remember singing along when I was very little, 6 years old. I sang this to my little sister who was 2 at the time. This is a very powerful song, it has such a deep profound sound. It takes me back to when I was a kid, the good old times. I am 21 now, boy does time fly miss the 90's :,( anyways thanks for posting this amazing song!
Have loved this movie since I was a little girl. Still prefer this over king Kong. This song always brings me to tears. Movie and song are so beautiful.
many, many, many thanks, have to all who made this song and uploaded it to youtube. This is one of the finest film-songs I've ever heard in my entire life.
I di not know he had passed; One of the great composers of all time. Every song touches your heart and this one just killed me. The violins have always given me a sense of peace but this whole movie and the music will live on forever. Thank you, Mr. Horner for your exquisite talent and sharing your beautiful songs, melodies and symphonies with all of us. There will never be another you!
Tthis songs just bring peace to my heart.. I saw the movie at the store and bought it for my kids to watch.. they loved the movie.. loved joe, they have seen it, over n over. We (society) need more movies like this one.. Samantha Thx for sharing :d
Be ready when it gets to 1:45. Thats when it starts the vocals. So get napkin and tissue ready. Because the song is sad and makes you cry. Even sad that jill's mom died at the beginning and the song was used for her funeral.
This is my son's favorite lullaby. I have been singing it to him since he was two years old :). Now that he is 6, he sings it to me sometimes. I always cry at the end of the movie and whenever I hear this song.
I watched this movie 1000 times when I was little, I even asked Santa for her same lash light for Christmas. Now I have been putting my son to bed every night with this song. It’s been almost 2 years, it hasn’t failed yet. ❤️
One of my favorite movies of all time as a child and adult!!! And one the most beautiful songs I've ever heard!! I laughed and cried to this film. Jill (Charlize Theron), Bill Paxton - R.I.P., and can't forget Mighty Joe Young, were amazing. I was and still am crazy for this film!!
My grandma passed away of cancer when I was 7. I'm 22 now and every time I watch this movie and especially hear this song it brings back the memories of her. R.I.P
davyon johnson I know. I am from East Africa, we do speak swahilli... never the less James Horner is the official composer of the Mighty Joe Young Soundtrack. He definitely re-mastered and changed the arrangement of the song... I do know how the original sounds too :-)
I'm currently 15 and this song still never fails to bring me to tears is very beautiful and in my oppinon it's what made the movie great it's also a beautiful language the song is song in
I'm trying to learn the words to this song so I can sing it to my daughter! I love it so much and never ceases to make me cry whenever I hear it. The melody is just absolutely beautiful.
I was only six when I first saw this movie. And even back then, and especially now over ten years later, I still think of it as one of the best disney movies that I've ever seen. I always cried at the end of the movie.
Beautiful melody and like "old yeller" it brought tears . I'm tough but not that tough and actually a whimp when it comes to heart breaking situations. I can fall asleep to this song no matter what my mood.
Thank you soooooo much for this, I was born in Africa and this song just makes me miss the land I knew....waking up and having elephants outside the house etc. Thankkkkkkk youuuu soooo muchhhhhchchchch for this x
I fell in love with this song when I first saw the movie. When my grandson was born, I would sing this song everyday as a lullaby. He is going to be 5. He knows the lyrics and he still falls asleep to this song as we both sing it together. That song has made nap time and bedtime priceless moments for me.
the first time i saw this movie i cried and after that i always cry especially when this song comes on. I recorded it and brought it to my 1st grade teacher to play when we had naptime!!! oh the memories!!
My wife sings this to our youngest son to help him sleep. Also sang it to our older boys, and our daughter as she laid dying in her arms shortly after birth beautiful song
Saw the name Mighty Joe Young on my TV one day, the name seemed familiar, so my curiosity led me to watch the movie. As I started watching, all these childhood memories started flooding my head. As I got to the end, I started crying, from the combination of the music and how fast life is passing by.
I just recently sent a poem to my contacts called A Different Kind of Christmas Poem. It expressed how our troops are protecting us so we can enjoy the Christmas season. Thank you for exemplifying this even further.
This song really brings back memories...i remeber when this came out my mom took me to go see it. i was like 2 so i kept crying and i asked my mom to take me to see it again and again and when it came out on vhs (thats all they had back then) she bought it for me and i watched over and over again. To this day i still have that tape and i have a vhs/dvd player so i was watching it the other day. im 13 and this is still my favorite movie!
My childhood right here. I will always love this song and Mighty Joe Young. I always cry when it seems like he dies and I don't think I will ever NOT cry
:) this song still makes me tear up...16 years old and remember rewinding the song at the end of the movie just to hear it..always thinking the first words were in the rainbow :)
I watch this film with my mom, when I was a child. Now I am growing up and when I hear this song I always think about her...rest in peace Mom
So very sorry to hear that your Mom died. What an absolutely beautiful sentiment and I send you my best!
me too. and she had just passed away 2 months ago. right now, I am all tears.

One of the best songs I have heard. Thanks Samantha.
I fell in love with this song when I first saw the movie. When my grandson was born, I would sing this song everyday as a lullaby. He is going to be 5. He knows the lyrics and he still falls asleep to this song as we both sing it together. That song has made nap time and bedtime priceless moments for me.

Such a wonderful song I use to sing this to my little girl when she would wake. Now she could sing it to me :) thank you for sharing.
One of the best and beautiful melodies I've heard. Spiritually felt. Music surpasses the bounds of language.
