ABANDONED 1957 Chevy BelAir will it run and drive after sitting for YEARS! - Farm Field Rescue

  • In today's adventure I managed to convince my old man and my buddy Mike to drive a couple hours out of town to dig out a classic 57 Chevy. This old hot rod was put together 30+ years ago and then abandoned in a farmers field.
    It's got all sorts of cool old school goodies, 327 with a th400, vintage gauges, slappers bars ect.
    She's a little rough around the edges but we do our best to get this old girl running and driving again! What do you think we should do with this old hot rod? Make sure to leave a comment below.
    If you enjoyed the video, support the channel by clicking the subscribe button.
    Special thanks to my old man and buddy Mike for battle the tall grass and ticks with me.

      Yep, very strange. The grass don't grow bend that way as we can see in the back bumper, also the front bumper is in pristine condition. Not to mention is why he filmed the towing from far away, so we can't see were it was sitting all those years, also the tires were in veery good conditions too.

      Ol 'Nam Grunt : Yh I can’t believe this is credible too - as soon as I saw it I thought there’s no way it has sat in that position for 10 years - no debris on the car from sat under those trees for 10 years - wind shield clean, in fact all the glass looks spotless. Tyres inflated. Towed out from a distance. Full creative licence in play

    • @Hobodeluxe960

      yeah with no tree sap orleaves or bird droppings on it. almost as if it had been in a garage and pushed out in that grass to take the video of it. (notice the grass is flat in front of it and growing under it too not a bare spot as if it had been there the whole time.

    Something that sits that long I would have dumped oil down each cylinder so that way lubricate everything from sitting so long and it won't cause problems later on . Also would have probably took the valve covers off before actually running it since it would turn over and stop like that. Could really done some damage to the pistons or valves by maken it run when one is stuck or sticking . IMO the plastic coupler on the distributor shaft probably broke away and the oil pump stopped pumping. Which explains why you lost oil pressure. I've seen this lots of times after a SBC has sat for a long time. Its a simple fix and you'll be rock and rolling in no time. Keeping it stock I think is the way to go but after all its yours. OntarioRedneXXX I was thinking the same thing. 57 chevy's have been collectible since the early 70's and even 4 doors have been desirable for years, I just don't get why people do that!!!!

    • @albertgaspar627
      @albertgaspar627 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I know some of us--me included--have a "I'll get to that later", and then life gets in the way. But back in the day, a 4 door was a parts car, when the only catalog for "restoration" parts was J.C Whitney :) so we're lucky this thing lasted this long. I live on the east coast, it doesn't take long for brakes to rust solid and require wheel dollies to move. Meanwhile the interior turns into a greenhouse and makes for some gross mildew/mold---you really wouldn't drive home any car you found in a field, unless you want a cough that never goes away without a trip to the ER.

      OntarioRedneXXX My grandpa let a Porsche 914 literally just rot into the ground in front of his house. Everyone said oh nobody wants those model Porsche’s, it’s not worth anything... Now people are restoring them...

      Yeah, why waste time and effort on a (seemingly) solid car? I always preferred 4 door cars over 2 doors, I don't get the big deal.

      @My Pronoun is WTF Depends on the car, some look better as 2 doors, some don't, but they usually have LESS room as they use shorter chassis, only benefit is they have larger doors.

    Man! That brings back some childhood memories. My Gramps had one just like that, same color, four-door of course it didn’t have a 327 in it! Myself and three of my driving age cousins tried our best to get Gramps to sell it to one of us. He told us all no, Didn’t want any of us to get mad at each other or him for that matter. Pretty smart guy. Next thing we all knew the 57 was gone and he was driving an olds F 85😀I’m sure you’ll get it fixed up with no worries I’ll be watching

    I learned to drive in one of those my older brother had in 71 or 72. It had the six and three on the tree and was a ugly green color, I still remember the sound it makes when you open the doors. In the later years my uncle got it and cut it behind the drivers seat and made a little truck out of it, he left the rear quarters on and made a wood box in it and painted that black. The rear tail fins were damaged a little from a fender bender so he squared the points of of them and put sardine cans in them for fillers. I would almost bet it is still around and some one uses it to do litlle chores on the farm or gather alittle firewood.
