I love how when you are in those eastern Illinois rural areas hardly anyone buys or sells cigarettes because as soon as u cross that river u can buy cigarettes for half the price. And as soon as you get across the river signs with arrows saying... MMMM CIGARETTES... CIGARETTES.... HEY ILLINOIS LOOK AT OUR CIGGY PRICES... CIGARETTE OUTLET STORE 1 MILES
Ever been through Carroll or Jo Davies counties? Especially along the Mississippi River? Also the counties in Iowa just opposite those two Illinois counties. (Jackson and Dubuque counties.)
Ah. That explains it. I didn't have my own personal radio until 1989, so before that, I was forced to hear my older brother's heavy metal cassette tapes, and that was about it.
@@StuckInTheKernfield I never heard of that jingle either. So you are not alone. I take it then that you don’t care for heavy metal “music “? I never cared for it myself. I had to listen to stuff like that when I was in the military. In those days we had Reel to reel tapes, vinyl records, and some early outlaw rock music. And being on board a ship, it was kinda hard to get away from it unless you could swim really well.
Pope County is the Deer Capital of Illinois. The county has more deer than people.
Very informative video.
Nice video and I wouldn't mind the peace and quiet of a small town

Thank you for another educational and entertaining video.
Good stuff, found a dream spot out west where the population density is under 0.5 per square mile!!!
Sounds like my kind of place. :-)
@@StuckInTheKernfield It could be the middle of the desert 🥵. Or maybe near the Arctic Circle 🥶
I feel like you put a lot of time and effort into these videos! Thank you so much for all your hard work! 😎
I appreciate that!
Thanks for mentioning my county. I live in Scott. We are very rural.
Not to be confused with Scott County Iowa which is quite urban what with Davenport and Bettendorf in the county.
I have a place in Marshall County, not my primary but it is nice and quiet...
I have videos driving through Marshall, Cumberland and Gallatin Counties. Pretty scenic.
It really is.

I live in pope county! I was hoping we were on there, but didn’t think we would be number 1!! Wow!!
beautiful women and nice people in pope
Always appreciate the great information in your videos
Thanks!
Great video! Where did Henry County rank? Thanks again!
Your videos are great!
Are you old enough to remember the radio jingle "Just outside of Chicago, there's a place called Illinois" ?
I'm not exactly a spring chicken, but I've never heard of that one.
@@StuckInTheKernfield Dates back to the mid 1980's.

@Glenn Lego Um, no. I prefer pop music.
I grew up in Wibern..graduated from Low Point Washburn...very rural and I miss it! Thanks for another great video!
I actually thought of you when I was gathering the data for this one. I remembered you saying that you were from Marshall County.

Nice to be thought of!😊
@@StuckInTheKernfield I’m from Clinton
Why isn’t Carroll County on the list? Isn’t it rural enough?
Not quite enough to make it into the top 10. It has 466 square miles of land and a population of 14,305. That's 30.7 people per square mile.
@@StuckInTheKernfield Thank you. I grew up there and it seemed pretty rural to me. But then I was just a little kid at the time. 🤔
Hope these little towns get a big economy boost from tourists...but don't move there and over crowd them.
What the hell do people do in these days
I doubt if many really enjoy living in Hellinois, they just try to survive.

:-) 3:17 - per square feet? Oops.
I know. I caught that when doing the final watch. I didn’t think it was bad enough of a flub to re-record it, since the information is on the screen.
I caught that, too.
@@StuckInTheKernfield I was shocked to hear of the 20.5 ppl per sq. feet in Hardin Co.
Always such great content... Keep it up!
@@StuckInTheKernfield Could be that is the population of mosquitoes in that county?
