Had soup today also. I invited my parish priests for lunch, so made a big pot of vegetable beef, and then a black bean soup. Served both with crusty bread, and sent some of both home with them. It was a good afternoon for all of us.
I would absolutely encourage anyone who can prep and freeze some soup to go ahead and do it! My family is starting to recover from being very sick all at once, and having some soup in the freezer was a lifesaver! Hopefully soon we'll be well enough to restock!
Making the potato soup now! Put it on before church in a hurry... just added the cheese. Used my immersion blender to smooth about 2 cups of the soup, added back to the crock. A-MAZE-ING!! Thanks for the recipe!!
I made a crack chicken noodle soup recipe last night at the request of my husband. He found the recipe on FB. It was really good though a bit rich, and it made A TON. Watching you cook is like watching kids at play. You're having fun, loving what you're doing, and there are no mistakes (happy accidents?)😀 Even though I'm eating very low carb for health reasons, I can't quit you.🤠 You are so much fun to watch and always educating.😊
Cooking and sharing is love, im a divorced father of 2 amazing boys. Every second weekend I would be allowed to see my kids. I prepped in advance and did my recipe work, and made them enjoy cooking with me, and enjoying every second of it. We talked about any subject while busy cooking, makes life easier and no limits. Now they are making supper for when their mother gets home from work. She allways mocked me when we were together for spending to long cooking. I was " multitasking, making sure my kids new how to cook meals and we solved issues in the presence while cooking. I hope she appreciate their hard work cooking her meals? When she get time for herself. I am a proud father of 2 young gentlemen I sure as hell put my print on besides my genes, my oldest is a copy of my looks and my personality, the youngest is learning and look a little like my ex father in law. My point is cooking together is caring and a time we'll spend in a kitchen. You get to talk and solve problems, while you learn to cook. I hope you are all safe and healthy and do remember to smile, it is infectious! Greetings from little Denmark, my 2 boys live in Greenland at the moment. And do surprise their mother with their culinary skills.
Your moms potato soup recipe is my favorite! I like to make a double batch on Sundays, eat it for dinner, then pack it for lunches the whole week. I like to add a bit of bacon bits to it, but so so sooooo good!
82° in North Carolina, but I have ice water to go alongside my soup lol. You and Hailey have the sweetest relationship. I hope my daughter still thinks I’m cool when she’s 18
I am so glad I did the organized Christmas. Because of that I found out this candlelight history walk we do is earlier than I thought and registration starts in NOVEMBER! We probably would have missed out this year and the kids love it so much.
The way you did your veggies in the rue is exactly how we do it. Also we add 1 cup chopped okra with the veggies. We make fully loaded gumbo about every 5-6 weeks. Ham, chicken, sausage and shrimp. Feeds an army.
Oh my gosh I went back to get the recipe for potato soup and then I started watching the other recipes and now I’m looking at the kids talking when they were so much younger and they are so darn adorable listening to them talk. 🥹
I live in the actual Sonoran desert where we hit 100 a week ago as the daytime high hahaha. Still watching and loving this! Daydreaming of colder days!!
The roux was dark enough for me for a chicken sausage gumbo, I like a darker roux for seafood gumbo. And yep, every persons gumbo is a bit different. Loved the recipes and will be trying the bread recipe, thanks for the share Christine.
Here in northern Michigan starting in mid October, I’ll make a different pot of soup every week. Snow is starting to fly here! Gonna have to give the potato soup a try. ❄️
Love soups all year round. Bought a soup maker which I use all the time. Throw in the ingredients and it's ready to eat in half an hour. Much more nutritious than ready made supermarket soups.
I love to make homemade vegetable soup. I also make a yummy kettle of what we call "pot pie...in the oven with crust is a meat pie) i start with a beef roast, onions..celery and water in the kettlexor crock pot. Let it cook for about 4 hours and cut or shred the meat. Then cube some potatoes and add. I make homemade noodle type dumplings. Just flour..water and egg. Roll out the dough about 1/8 inch think and cut into squares. Drop into pot and cook until tender. SO GOOD!! also make it sometimes with chicken and usexcream of chicken soup.
I finally made the potato cheese soup after watching you make it so many times. Added a bag of steamed broccoli just cause I had it in the freezer. My husband ate half the crockpot in one sitting! 😳 Definitely will be making again.
Have chile last night and the leftovers is going be use for chili stacks, which is corn tortillas chili onions ,chedder cheese and layered and topped with sour cream and avacodos. 😋
THANK YOU for the recipes... love soup and stews...and it's gettin wayyyy cold up here in canada!!! I will be making one today for dinner and freezer meals!! ❤🇨🇦
What a haul today. When you had it all lined up on the bench it looked so healthy and fresh. You certainly know how to keep your family happy with all those meals ❤
I grew up in Alabama and lived in Louisiana for a couple of years. I absolutely loved Louisiana. I grew up having seafood gumbo and it was so good. I never had chicken and sausage until living in Louisiana. I love it both ways.
Yesterday I used a NYT potato soup (stovetop) recipe (very similar to yours) and it included celery, carrot, garlic as well as the onion. Also smoked paprika as well as the salt and pepper. I cooked 6 slices of bacon first then after retaining 1 TBS of bacon fat, I sauteed the veggies (absent the potatoes) for a few minutes, added spices, then potatoes and salt/pepper. Then I added 4 cups chicken broth. Brought to a boil, simmered til potatoes were cooked through. Added a cup of heavy cream. Heated a little more... Then I used an immersion blender to puree about half the pot. Topped it with chopped bacon, shredded cheddar cheese and some chopped chives from the herb garden. Delicious.
I am laughing so hard at the first soup because we have gumbo on our family dinner menu for tonight for a solid month and I’m chopping my trinity as I listen/watch this. Love your content!!
This was uploaded at the perfect time. The potato soup is one of my go-to meals, though I usually make it on the stovetop because I forget to set everything in my crockpot before I go to work a lot- I just adjust the chicken broth amount slightly.
That gumbo looks amazing! All of these are doable and look delicious. I made potato soup for the first time last month, I’m doing it your mom’s way next time for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for the free recipes, very much appreciated. I love Gumbo and I'll certainly be making that, not so sure if the other soups are my taste. Scotland, UK here and we have our own range of soups that are pulse based. My hubby doesn't like cream in any food, but I'll give it a go and see how we get on. Thanks again Christine xxx
Whenever we have chili we always have peanut butter sandwiches! That was something that our cooks at the elementary school had always done, so we shared the tradition ❤❤❤❤
I can't wait to try the potato soup. I think I have everything here to make it and it's going to drop 25 degrees from the high today to tomorrow's high.
Its literally 85 here in VA but soup is a year round thing at my house!! I've been making a copycat CheesecakeFactory Cream of Chicken soup and it's phenomenal!!! Love love love your videos!!! I love your wholesomeness!! Is that even a word😂😂
We were just talking about how warm it is here in VA but other parts of the country already got snow. I am ready to have some soup too. I made taco soup on the one day it got cold 😂
I’m in Maryland, and it’s in the 80s today. We just got done raking leaves. This video is making me want to make chicken and rice for dinner. 😂 and I am sweating like crazy right now
Another chili quickly for 2-4 servings 1Lb beef 1 15oz can tomato sauce 1c salsa (heat your choice) 1-3cans beans of choice drained (I like black Lima and pinto) 1t to 1T chili powder for heat and spice salt and garlic powder to taste. Can easily double triple or quadruple etc. also if you want a dip for Fritos reduce tomato sauce in half ! YUM YUM. I make this ALL THE TIME
My go-to way to serve chili is over rice with cheese & sour cream like you said, but there are so many variations to do! Use them to top nachos, make tacos or burritos/enchiladas, serve over macaroni(like my grandma did) or over spaghetti(Cincinnati style), stirred into mac & cheese, & chili dogs. I like to make a big pot and then freeze in different portion sizes for different types of meals.
Love your videos, but right now I have Mom envy. My mom passed away 10 years ago this February and oh how I miss her. Hold on to each and every precious moment of your mom!
Thanks for sharing the Nothing Soup. It was great to see the pics of your kids when younger. I feel like I’ve watched them grow up. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
I made your potato cheese soup tonight and it was a hit! Even my kid on the spectrum said “I like this way more than I thought I would” ❤. Thank you for your simple and tasty recipe
I'm a relatively new follower, and enjoy your vlog posts. I recently made your chicken taquitos, my guys loved them. I believe I had 2, they killed all the rest. There were NO leftovers for lunches. We love soups, and it's getting cold. I'm looking forward to trying these recipes. Thanks for sharing😊
Excellent timing. We've hit freezing here, and there's snow in the forecast for next week. Definitely soup season. I woke up this morning debating what pot to make today. Thanks for sharing your always delicious recipes!
Veggie soup with Thanksgiving turkey stock is on the stove here now, and bread dough is rising the counter. Love that bread recipe!! Thanks, again, for the inspiration Christine!
Had soup today also. I invited my parish priests for lunch, so made a big pot of vegetable beef, and then a black bean soup. Served both with crusty bread, and sent some of both home with them. It was a good afternoon for all of us.
Sounds delicious and heart warming!
I would absolutely encourage anyone who can prep and freeze some soup to go ahead and do it! My family is starting to recover from being very sick all at once, and having some soup in the freezer was a lifesaver! Hopefully soon we'll be well enough to restock!

When my mom made homemade bread she always used wax paper to glaze the top with lard when it came out if the oven. I still do this today.
