      Haven't been diagnosed, but recently had lesions in my brain scan show up. Anyway, I've always knew diet was important but had no idea how important it is for the brain! That goes for everyone too. I disagree with the dairy part, there is a small part of the population (Europeans and their decendants), that tolerate dairy well. Cheese maybe not so much. Im trying to avoid wheat products all together and eat more fish. Difficult when you are landlocked in the central US. Thank you for the video.

      what you say is true but I don't think it did for me. Elevated levels of stress can cause all sorts of conditions and auto immune conditions are one of them. I can't think of anything else. Most certainly, you need the food that nourishes your body. Food that contains the most nutrient dense nutrition, which comes in all animal products. Check out dr. Shawn Baker and all his testimonials. There are people on there who have healed themselves from MS and all sort of afflictions. Be wise. Eat what your body is made of which is protein and fat. Not oils! Instead, natural chicken, or beef fat, or butter. The very best to you.

    I adopted a PBWF diet in 2011 when I got diagnosed with MS. Coming from a standard American Trash Panda Diet, I was experiencing a remission in my symptoms for about 3 months, then experienced increasing disability for the next 8 years. It wasn't until I adopted a high-fat carnivore diet in 2021(984 days ago) that I stopped having relapses and my MRI's showed my lesions are shrinking/disappearing

    Respectfully disagree. A few years after I was diagnosed I started the Ketogenic diet and ate 80% of my diet as fat and saturated fat. All things improved. My blood pressure went down, my HDL skyrocketed to the level that it’s considered protective of heart health. Then I went on holidays and fell off of keto and switched to a mostly vegetable lifestyle and over two years I progressed to being unable to walk. I went back on Keto again recently and as soon as I was back in ketosis everything started improving again. I don’t diets are a one size fits all. Mine works for me.

      As soon as I moved to low carb high fat (ketogenic) eating, my symptoms cleared up as well. I've been without issue and no further changes on my MRIs since 2015. I would never remove clean animal proteins and real fats from my diet (trans fats are not included in this, they're man made.) Sugar and ultraprocessed foods are the real bio-disruptors, I avoid them.

Progesterone/Vit B12 methylcobalamin may help Myelin/thyroid/bones/adrenals/stress etc... Olive oil may be ok...rub on legs...has Vit E for circulation. Folate with Vit B12/5000mcg of biotin/120mg of ginkgo and more may help. Osteoprocare instead of dairy may help. Glands need cholesterol to make hormones. • @btudrus
      @btudrus ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@EvenSoItIsWell There are no risks of saturated fats alone. Saturated fats are healthy and are NEEDED for the synthesis of myelin and for an overall brain health.
      Saturated fat is the form body stores it's energy and it is the optimal fuel for your mitochondria.
      The only situation where saturated fat is not optimal is when combined with sugar (fructose/sucrose). There is a good evidence now that fructose makes mitochondria be less effective which when combined with saturated fat leads to "overheating" of mitochondria which is the root cause of most chronic diseases and plays also a role in autoimmune conditions.
      Saturated fat alone (without sugar) is perfectly healthy and it is the best source of energy for human body (otherwise the body would not store it's long term energy in this form, anyway)...
      Sadly the adventists / vegan propaganda is spreading a lot of missinformation and many "studies" are conducted by people who believe that animal is bad for religious reasons, trashing the scientific literature with a lot of nonsense...

      @@btudrus thanks for watching. Some of the largest and most respected studies show the risks of saturated fats such as the Nurses Health Study with over 70,000 participants and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study with over 40,000 participants. The China Study which is one of the largest population studies ever done show the adverse health effects as well.
      For MS specific outcomes the research of Dr. Roy Swank and the HOLISM study show those with a lower saturated fat diet fair better in the long run.
      All that said, I completely agree with you on sugar. Highly processed foods like sugar are really toxic.

    The most important thing to avoid when having autoimmune conditions like MS are plants and plant foods.

I've tried these things in the past 15 years, giving each one a minimum 6 month test period to see the results: vegetarian, vegan, Atkins, paleo, low carb, plant based, and elimination diet. I also got fat on vegetarian and vegan because I was never satiated, and so I over ate in an attempt to make the hunger pains go away. So far carnivore is working the best.

      This might not be the answer you are looking for. I've been diagnosed with SIFO caused by aspergillus. To repair my gut, I'm on a limited deit. In a nutshell, I'm basically carnivore, until my gut heals. Then I'll bring back safe things to eat. Why carnivore? Because I've also found out that gluten tears me up inside. And while I'm at it, I'm going low oxalate, no lectins, and fodmap. You might see the complexity here. It's easier to just cut out all plants until my gut heals. I'm under the care of a functional medicine doctor. The only fats I eat now are what's provided in the meat, eggs, and butter. I'm not saying this is the diet for you but an example of a tailored diet based on my needs. I'll bring back olive oil when I'm able. By the way, the knee pain which I've suffered from for 10 years is completely gone. This is just on diet alone. Brain fog is lifting, and so is fatigue.

      Hi, Kevin! My doctor says yogurt is good for microbiome and it can be considered not dairy because the lactose was broken by the "bacilo lático" into fructose and glucose, sugar from fruit. So it's good to take a tablespoon now and then. But cheese, he said was junk food. It was removed from the food piramid in 2011 by Harvard Medical School. It causes cancer (John Hopkins stated) and plaques that can cause a stroke if in the brain and a heart attack, if in the heart.

Milk thistle/dandelion at night may help detox and help the liver/kidneys. Not eating until hungry may help. Some skip breakfast and eat lunch/supper.

    Are you familiar with the work of Mary Newport, M.D.? She is one of the pioneering researchers in the area of utilizing medium-chain fatty acids (MCT’s) in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. Although she has focused primarily on the cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer’s, her findings apply to MS “cog fog” as well.

      Thanks Cynthia. I have seen that there are preliminary studies on ketones as fuel for people with Alzheimer’s, but most of the data is anecdotal. I haven’t seen anything about it for MS cog fog. I would be happy to read it if you have a study to share. I did see a study released jut last week that showed a whole food plant based diet and lifestyle changes help dementia patients improve in just 20 weeks.

      Dr. Newport’s research is ongoing. However, she has authored several books that reference studies performed up to this point. I would love to be a vegan, but my diagnosis includes an inability to digest disaccharides and polysaccharides (sugars and starches). As a retired nutrition professional, I have seen, first-hand, the fact that dietary requirements reflect the old maxim, “Different strokes for different folks.” The only solution? Trial and error. (Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were a “one size fits all” protocol?)

    No studies have ever been conducted on the long-term effects of saturated fats. The National Library of Medicine says-> An updated systematic review by the Cochrane group in 2020 on saturated fats reported that reducing dietary saturated fats reduced CVD events but had no effect on the remaining seven CVD endpoints including total mortality, CVD mortality, coronary heart disease (CHD) mortality, fatal heart attacks, non-fatal heart attacks, and CHD events. Even the significant effect of saturated fats on CVD events became nonsignificant when subjected to a sensitivity analysis that only included clinical trials which had successfully reduced saturated fat consumption while excluding those that intended to reduce saturated fat but were not successful.
    High fat, low carb diets have long been used for reducing inflammation. Granted some people do have elevated LDL on a high fat diet, but there is much debate over the cause possibly being familial, hereditary, and much debate over how harmful that number ALONE actually is. It's common practice to vilify animal-based diets in favor of the traditional health pyramid. The same pyramid that probably got most of us sick in the first place. There aren't any successful long-term studies on ANY diets because there are other factors that were never accounted for in the study group's activities.
    I agree that whole foods are a much better way to go, but much of the food we eat has been altered in so many ways (because chemicals save the food industry profits) that it is still very risky. Animal products seem much safer. Refined grains, sugars, processed foods, and GMOs leave most vegetables in a less than desirable state for consumption. Be careful what you eat, and start out by avoiding anything in a can, box or "stay fresh" package. Stay away from fast food.... and most restaurants.

    • @EvenSoItIsWell
      @EvenSoItIsWell  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I respectfully disagree. There are many large, long term, peer reviewed studies showing that reducing saturated fats lowers CVD such as the Nurses’ Health Study, the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, and the China Study show that eating more fruits and vegetables and less saturated fats reduces the risk of CVD.
      I agree that the food pyramids have failed miserably. Unfortunately the recommendations were not followed in part due to the power of the food manufacturers, the marketing machines around them, and the shear volume of junk “foods” available.
      All this said, we are adults and can make our own choices. I wish you continued health and wellbeing!

      Thanks for watching and for the question. Any diet that helps us to remove processed foods and foods that cause inflammation will be helpful. So if we go from the Standard American diet to keto, we will improve. The short term benefits are definitely there. One of the good things about keto is weight loss and being overweight is linked to worse MS. Staying on long term keto may be more problematic though. There are numerous studies linking high saturated fat with worsening MS. Also keto is linked to higher fatigue, more constipation, and possibly less healthy gut microbiome because of lack of diversity in fiber.

    Can MS eat eggs daily to absorb the good protein?

      Thanks for watching and the question. Many studies have shown eating a low saturated fat diet is better for people with MS so I do not eat eggs.

    My life sucks beyond imagination, let me have my Flipz.

      Oh honey, I am sorry things are difficult. Sending you lots of positive energy. You can have Flipz, but I would suggest that they bring short term pleasure and may contribute to long term harm. Maybe cut back on the Flipz?

    Interesting. Do you know a low fat diet (10mg of sat fat per day) is an effective treatment for MS? (and cancer. It stops a tumour matasizing). Personally I think cancer is a trigger for MS. It triggered mine, that and in addition to a urine infection.

      Gluten may cause UTI. Gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO may hurt. Gluten may cause cancer and many other health issues once it hurts the gut lining so less nutrients absorb then cells are not made right to work right. Glands need cholesterol to work right. Poached eggs/lecithin in yolk may help. Fish oil/evening primrose oil/Krill oil/lecithin/CLA...olive oil/coconut flakes (limit) and more may help. Clogging the blood vessels with certain fats may hurt/heated oils may hurt. Low oxygen in the brain may trigger MS/cancer etc.. Nature's Way - Kidney/bladder may help UTI, but no gluten may prevent them. Antibiotics may hurt people and not help.

    Please help me understand how meat is bad for me

    • @EvenSoItIsWell
      @EvenSoItIsWell  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching Nellie! As I said in the video the saturated fats found in meat are associated with increased risks for heart disease and inflammation. As MS is an inflammatory disease reducing or eliminating saturated fats found in meats will benefit us. Also, modern farming practices have lead to increased use of antibiotics and hormones that may be problematic. The animals are also consuming feed that has many pesticides that end up in the meat and those pesticides are now being linked to more negative health outcomes.

      Thanks for watching. I have been living with MS for 17+ years so I feel I have a bit of knowledge. 😉 I also have a certificate in plant based nutrition so have a fair bit of knowledge about foods as well. 🙂

      Thanks for watching. The research indicates that dairy is not good for us. I make golden milk with almond or oat milk and it is quite nice. Honey shouldn’t be a problem.
