  • “You’re whole food plant based? What do you eat?” I often get asked these questions. In this video I share what I eat in a day to help manage my multiple sclerosis (MS). I eat a whole food plant based diet (WFPB) that is full of nutrients and anti-inflammatory foods and it is easier than you might think!

    I was diagnosed in 1994 at age 29. I remained A Symptomatic until 2009 when I became my parents caregiver and my stress level increased. I have never taken any meds and have not had many episodes since 2011. I manage my MS through a strict Carnivore diet, exercise and prayer. I have not had any new lesions in 8 years. I know my body and what's best for me better than any doctor who is in the business of making money.

      Praise God! I was diagnosed in 2004 after a bad bout of vertigo which started in 2003. Numbness and tingling and weakness started after that. I didn’t want to do any meds so I fasted and prayed and did natural supplements. I also went vegan for about 18 months and that really seemed to help also. I had been fine until recently where I was dealing with a ton load of stress. I also recently had changed up my diet by eliminating all seed oils and had instead been using lots of saturated fats like butter, ghee, coconut oil, and I’d also use olive oil. I think I threw my system out of whack bc now, 20 years after my diagnosis, I’m having a terrible bout of vertigo, I lost hearing in my right ear and I was starting to get some numbness and tingling again. I had started back on meats for the last 18 years, but I think I need to try this vegan approach again. It really did seem to help the first time around. I’m glad that you’re healthy and that the carnivore diet is working for you. 🙏🏾

    So happy to find such an amazing videos, it is so helpful and inspiring! Thank you so much! Lot´s of tips, articles and protocols in the internet can be very confusing and overwhelming. I’ve been diagnosed 2 weeks ago and Wahls protocol was the first book I’ve bought. First thought - I can’t eat that much greens and I can’t leave this way 😂. But the diet you present looks much more doable and reasonable. Sorry if the question is stupid, but lactose free dairy doesn’t work as well, right? And what are your thoughts on Ghi butter?

    • @EvenSoItIsWell
      @EvenSoItIsWell  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Elena! Try increase our greens slowly. They are some of the most nutrient dense foods we can eat. I avoid all dairy as there are proteins called butyrophilins that look like our myelin that may get through a leaky gut and cause our immune system to go after them and might attack our myelin. The saturated fats in dairy are also a problem. There are many studies showing that those with MS that reduce saturated fats fair much better.

    I was diagnosed with MS after eating plant based for 20 years. Plant based made me bloated with water retention in my belly and I farted all day. I had no muscle, felt weak and tired, irritable and when menopause came, I was struck hard and never recovered 20 years later. When I changed to meat based, I grew muscle without exercising, feel stronger and more energetic. It's certainly not true that red meat and saturated fat is bad for MS because our bodies crave both and MS sufferers who become strict carnivores completely reverse their condition. This hasn't happened to me as I can't digest the large amount of fat required, so I'm satisfied that my immune system has improved and I generally feel stronger and have more energy.

    Do you think many MS sufferers would benefit from a *low*-protein WFPB diet rather than your moderate protein diet?
    Some people are worried about soy and seem to benefit from lean meats and I'm wondering if it's the amino acids high in meat that predominately are the 'magic' behind symptom relief in many keto types.
    I get about 40 - 50 g fiber/day often including soy.

    • @EvenSoItIsWell
      @EvenSoItIsWell  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching and the question Justin. I am not sure what you mean by low protein. The recommendations I base my eating on are 0.8 grams per kilogram (0.36 grams per pound) of body weight. If we go lower than that we may experience muscle loss, fatigue and some other symptoms.
      If the concerns around soy are the phytoestrogens, there is more recent research that shows it is not a problem. There is, however, research showing the saturated fats in meat (even lean meat) can lead to worse outcomes for people with MS.
      Here are a couple of links that may be helpful. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      My general concern is that soy can mimic human tissue and trigger autoimmune reactions in susceptible individuals, likely via a leaky gut, but I also know it is the best vegan source of the amino acids necessary to produce glutathione which some similarly ill people may need more of than normal.
      I consider low protein less than, as a percentage of calories, brown rice provides.

      @@EvenSoItIsWell I didn't mean to give the wrong impression. I don't have knowledge that soy does this. I certainly have concerns over glyphosate so we get organic tofu and the occasional whole soy foods like tempeh, but I have never read a white paper that did more than *speculate* on an antigenic autoimmune relationship of soy similar to milk and islet beta-cells for type-1 diabetes.
      I'm looking for my family now because even though my wife had a bad experience after having soy, we both are concerned about the saturated fat in animal products, even low-fat options and fish which is typically higher in histamines and heavy metals.

    I'm a bit confused by all the MS diet tips. Firstly, I thought coffee was a CNS stimulant which makes it a no-go for people with MS. I'm not even going to mention the syrup that you put in it.
    You also put soy beans in your salad which are delicious, but once again I thought Legumes were off the menu for MS patients. Can anyone explain?

    • @EvenSoItIsWell
      @EvenSoItIsWell  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be confusing. There a many different “MS diets”. The thing that they have in common is they all feature whole real foods and are better then the standard diets that most people eat. I am not aware of caffeine being a problem for people with MS but would be interested in research on it if you have it.
      The maple syrup is a very small amount and is lower on the glycemic index than white sugar. It also has some nutrients in it.
      The fear around legumes is lectins but they are not a problem when they are cooked. Legumes have been part of a healthy diet for thousands of years.
      I have studied diet extensively, have a certificate in plant based nutrition from eCornell and took a class at the Cleveland Clinic on preventing and reversing disease with diet.
      If you’d like to see the studies about legumes let me know! I will post links for you!
