I am headed to Daugavpils to teach English at the university there in late August. One thing I find striking about your video is the absence of people on the street-the city seems unusually quiet and empty. Is this how it is all the time, or was this more a function of the date and time of your video?

This was recorded during the midsummer, everyone was probably in nature celebrating. My guess that’s the reason the city was empty of people. Tough my visit in Daugavpils lasted only one day, so who knows really…

Yes I was surprised that there were not too much people outside. Maybe it's because it was a very hot day.

@ Maybe it was the St. John's day (June 24) when most Latvians recreate in countryside? Two days a year (January 1 and June 24) even Riga looks like after a zombie apocalypse.

@@ivarkich1543 ​ Yes good observation. I forgot that it was Midsummer the day before I filmed this, we were celebrating it too in Lithuania on the 24th. Explains why there wasn't that many people in Daugavpils, everyone was in the countryside.
