    What a different time (I wish we could go back to). The banter between the two at 8:36 over "Trust but Verify" with Gorbachev laughing and saying, "You repeat that at every meeting!" and Reagan responding "I like it it..." is simply heartwarming.

    The “trust but verify” moment at 8:36 was so wholesome!

    “A politician worries about reelection, statesmen worries about the people”- Mikhail Gorbachev was the former Soviet President.

    It took a long time for our country and the USSR to be respectful in each other’s presence. Gorbachev became very popular in America because of his natural ability to communicate differently than his predecessors. Too bad we don’t have that atmosphere in our time. Gorbachev began the end of the USSR.

      With Putin and Biden, we are back to the 1978-1980 situation. With Trump and without Putin, this moment can be repeated.

      The Russian ppl criticize Gorbachev, but Gorbachev did what was right by trying to open the markets, give ppl more freedom of choice and not allow another generation of kids live in fear of nuclear annihilation. Thanks to Reagan and Gorbachevs work in the 80s, my generation was the first since the 1930s to not live in fear of nuclear holocaust. I was born in 89

      I'm Polish. You both got that wrong. Good there is Putin who's cleaning that nazi Stepan Bandera mess USA fuelled in Ukraine. Or should I also mention national-socialist (NAZI in layman terms) political party that was formed in 1991 in Ukraine. Wołyń massacre anyone? Polish and Jewish genocide done by Ukrainian OUN-UPA? Westerners have absolutely no clue about history yet they mumble their nonsese everywhere.
      If you ask me who do I choose I say Putin? Why? Because USA sold us to Stalin in 1945. Wanted to nuke us in 1970's - official undisclosed CIA papers. Turned Libia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Afganistan and Vietnam into bloody mess. And now they are fuelling Ukrainian nazis.
      You both should check channel of USA's Colonel Douglas Macgregor as well as American journalist, who's making content straight in Donbass if you want to see the truth. BS globallist propaganda of big, bad wolf Putin. I bet every single country in this world will put up with USA's dream of aiming their ballistic missiles at his capital. Wait! No. Putin is not one of this kind. He was saying for years what will happen if NATO will be pushing toward Russia. He kept his promise.
      Now boys. Eat zee bugz and be happy. WEF.

      Yeah the west took a complete advantage of Gorby being this weak which lead to a catastrophic dissolution of the Soviet Union hundreds of millions of people found themselves outside the borders of their homeland their parents so bravely protected and fought for. All post-soviet countries are still poor because their whole infrastructure was built to be a one organism.

    US and Russia's finest moment, sadly now made a footnote by the tyranical Putin, when these two men spoke, something got done, and progress was made, they genuinely liked one another, respected the differences, but set that aside to maintain peace for all.

    • @thewedge8823
      @thewedge8823 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      how is this Russia's finest moment? their government was on the brink of collapse, then a decade more of poverty, crime, and no economy with the alcoholic President Boris Yeltsin who brought "democracy" to Russia. One of Russia's darkest and weakest moments.

    • @hadeseye2297
      @hadeseye2297 ปีที่แล้ว

      "now made a footnote by the tyranical Putin"
      Rather by yanks who with disregard to their promise pushed NATO more to East and started pumping money and weapons into nazi Ukrainians. Check what political party Svoboda is. What made Stepan Bandera famous. About genocide of Polish and Jewish people made by OUN-UPA. Wołyń massacre.
      Funny that people with no insight and knowledge of history make comments like yours. I'm Polish. I was born under communist regime. It's Putin who is right. Want a prove. Check Patrick Lancaster's and Douglas Macgregor channels. First is American journalist putting content straight from Donbass, second is American Colonel.
      Should I also mention that Poland, Eastern Germany and many other countries were given on a silver plate to Stalin by Allies and especially by USA who wanted in revenge help with fighting Japanese? Or that there are disclosed CIA papers stating Poland was marked as a target of USA's nuclear missiles strike in the 1970's? Or maybe I should remind you Libia, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam? All work of USA.
      And now they are burning Ukraine. Because what? Putin didn't wanted to be USA's mascot and help them with China? Are you really that blind?
