@USAAF1941: I believe if the mainstream media were different and we didnt live in such evil and polarizing times, President Trump would not have had to act on constant defense and be the way he was and would have achieved extraordinary things with the help and support of Congress, but America is so divided nowadays, which made it impossible for President Trump to accomplish things he could have.
Like every Republican, he was for the rich. F*ck the middle class and the poor. If there are lines at the final judgement, I don’t want to be standing in the one that joker is n.
My father served two tours in Vietnam. First with the 199th light, infantry battalion, and the second time with the 1st Air Calvary. All I can say to you, sir, is welcome home.
Thank you for your service I was born in march 1982 and the most influential man in my life was my great grandfather and great grandmother and he said he is the best president we ever had had and now at 42 I see he was right!😊

I’m from the United Kingdom. I cried when I watched Ronald Reagan’s funeral. What a graceful, humble, and kindhearted person who lead his country with honor. One of the greatest leaders the US has had.
@@3joewj The ideology of modern American movement conservativism which was started by William Frank Buckley and Barry Goldwater and later was popularized by Ronald Reagan is nothing but a completely absurd and illogical philosophy.
I recall that back then certain of the media claiming Reagan was shallow and dumb. I was dumb enough to believe it. But I was young and impressionable. NOW I see a gracious, bright man who has an excellent way with language; who has ideas he believes in which have stood the test of history, and who has a great sense of humor. I see a good man. I wish I'd have appreciated him more back then. And I wish we had presidential candidates now with one tenth the class Reagan had.
Hey young waif - the wisdom of age has begun to catch up with you. All of us, well most of us, experience this. I thank you for your comments on the 2nd greatest President ever.
indeed. Reagan wasn't Nixon-level intellect (few were) but he was intelligent enough to know what subject matter he could master and it doesn't take high intelligence to know how to be honorable and have integrity.
@@RobertMJohnson My guess is Reagan's IQ was well above average. Maybe not in the 150 range, but surely 120 to 130, which put him in the upper 5% or so. I agree integrity doesn't require intelligence, but in a sense, integrity is the highest intelligence if intelligence is defined by an organisms ability to perceive reality, as opposed to score well on a spacial reasoning test devised for profit by people who do well on that kind of test.
Reagan said something that finally made sense to me. I'm 68 now, my father worked in a factory my mom kept the house. We never were without food or shelter. Doctors were seen when sick. Clothes were handed down. Finally it dawned on me, the "Government didn't come around and tell us we were poor". Dad , all these years and still learning from you and mom.
Sounds like the American dream I'm 35 and bust my tail to feed my family I believe in teaching my children to work hard it's what we Americans are made of grit and determination
Back in those days there was not hand outs u ither worked your tail off or your family would starve . Me being a boy of 4 next to the oldest I seen my father struggling to make ends meet but he did . He didn’t graduate from high school because he had to work on the back of a trash truck one of the nasty job you could do but he did it 5 days a week rain ,Snow, Sun I seen him in the winter ❄️ where his hair had froze straight along with his beard but he stood up straight every day until he retired. He was one of the hardest working man I ever knew he made shire us kids had food to eat a warm house and close to where, even though some was handy down’s that was given to us some from family and others by the church I went to when I was very young. But nothing was given to us by the state or government now that was a hard life but at that time we lived like any other family did . My dad or mom didn’t ever vote but I did not ither until I was 40 I’m a Republican but if Ronald Reagan was running to become president again I would have to say he would have my vote.
This is a great civil interview, it’s crazy to see how much things have changed just because of difference in political views. Ronald Reagan was a great leader.
I was thinking that same thing dwass, Reagan was so sharp all the way through his presidency. I will admit I feel a bit sorry for Joe Biden, but I feel much worse for the U.S., with him as our current president. He has become an even more ineffective, and damaging president than we Republicans (also many Democrats), ever expected.
I turned 18 October 25, and voted for President Reagan November 4, 1980...The first time in my life we Made America Great Again... Then, it was downhill after that. The Bush Crime Family, the Clintons, and the Kenyan all tried to turn this country into a ghetto. Now, we have a great man leading us again until 2024 (hopefully)!...
@@classic-kool I am a great admirer of President Reagan as well, but if the Bushes were truly a crime family why would President Reagan have him as his Vice- President, are you saying this great President didn't do his due diligence or ignored these alleged facts, which is it?
@UC4v7co44RBik3AfhBBlD1gQ C'mon you don't think he had the ultimate authority over who his VP was? I admire Reagan and while he would take into consideration what would be pragmatic, the buck would stop with him and it's well documented they had a pretty good relationship
Many of us Canadians still very much miss President Reagan, a true American patriot yet global well wisher and an optimist. Fearless and steadfast leader is no more. God bless him and his loved ones.
Thank you Canadians. Many were the times I crossed the border, and there was nothing but friendliness. My grandfather was Canadian. His wife was English. There is something about such heritage. Reagan had the same natural class.
I noticed Tom did spin his brother's book's purpose with an obvious lie. Reagan has to correct him. Back then their deceit was less obvious though. Now they are full charge.
Yeah, he just sits there and lets the spin spin out of the spin-masters mouth without any spine and avoids any real issues of the day, luke warm milk toast.
Ender I was just thinking that! You can tell hear that President Reagan is suffering from early Alzheimer’s, and he has trouble remembering names, and events specifically, and Tom Brokaw does not say things like “what, the Cipole, do you remember about so-and-so?“ He allows President Reagan to speak in Descriptive generalities. It really is a great interview.
You seem to be missing a lot. What about trying to accuse him of racism, and not caring about the poor? Truely, this is tame compared to the media's standards, or lack their of today. If you watch when the camera cuts to Brokaw his demeanor, his body language, he refused to appreciate the honor of interviewing President Reagan. Oh he said the appropriate words, but there is no mistaking his hating every minute of allowing President Reagan the opportunity to answer, and speak as he so desired. Brokaw, refused to respond in a positive way towards his slight jokes. It is typical of the leftists, and the media especially, to maintain a demeanor of having a higher intellect, and moral superiority over everyone who does not believe and practice what they believe and practice. And so, they were and still are a miserable bunch, lacking in even decent character.
My God, I miss this man. I don't understand it but I am 50 years old and every time I hear Mr. Regan speak I get emotional because he really seemed like one of the most genuine human beings to ever hold the title of President. I am sad that he's gone, but also happy he isn't around to see what we as a nation have become!
I’m 50 too. I remember sitting on my great grandmothers floor watching the results come in. They were all old Democrats that were proud of voting for Reagan.
I am blessed to say that the majority of my military career was spent with President Reagan as my Commander In Chief. It was an absolute privilege to serve under his command and we knew we were respected and valued.
Reagan was the first president I ever voted for. He was the right man for the job & for that time. He won my vote twice that decade. Not sure we’ll ever have a man of that stature in the Oval Office again in my lifetime. How I miss his leadership & steadying hand. May God help us as we navigate the tumultuous waters of the politics of division in our nation today.
I had the distinct honor to serve under the Honorable President Ronald Reagan while serving in the United States Marine Corps. Till this day I have never been more proud to have served under a Commander in Chief such as him. A man of honor . A man of his word. A man of Integrity. God Bless Ronald Reagan! And Nancy! Semper Fi!
Thank you, sir, for your service. The Marines epitomize the time honored values of God, family, Country and selfless service. I pray the Armed Forces May regain or retain these values and not be permanently tainted by partisan identity politics that are so prevalent today. Since 1989 there’s no one that has come remotely close to Reagan as a total package. Very knowledgeable, humble, intelligent, tremendous speaker and story teller. Consistent. Direct. But above all a perfect gentleman.

I have often heard people who knew and worked with Ronald Reagan, that what you saw was what you got. Unlike most public figures, he actually was, in real life, the man you saw in public.
I've read his book, many books about him, visited his Presidential Library. Voted for him twice. The gold standard for decency, communications, conviction, optimism, leadership. A true statesman.
The president of the 80's. How refreshing it is to listen to people like him now regardless of your opinion of him. The media circus and the so called leaders today make a kindergarten seem rather sophisticated.
Runny was one wonderful guy long before he became president and he was great as president...far more of a GREAT man than we currently are STUCK with!!!
I Love how comfortable President Reagan makes someone feel, and how down to earth and really genuine and sincere he was!!! What a wonderful and lovely treasure of a fabulous man!
To him it was special to being an American and he saw that all Americans had potential to be great. I for one hold that pride and ask all that love this country to be vigilant and carry themselves in good character. This nation is in peril.
I was just a young man barely out of high school and joined the US Air Force. I didn't concern myself with politics, but I'm so thankful that I began my military career under the leadership of this incredible commander in chief. All of us in the military at that time loved and cherished this man. Thank you President Ronald Reagan. Rest in Peace
Red Cloud Shaman I also served under Reagan. I love him. But I love Trump too. Their policies are the same..Trump is fighting a radicalism we’ve not seen before.

@J Calhoun common knowledge, the woman herself. not the most important thing in his life (I bet important in that woman's life), but one of the things showing he was a complicated figure, not at all a good ole daddy shown by the media and loved by the people. a myth of sorts.
I can say that as a kid my Dad struggled to keep us feed and housed and It wasn’t until Regan got into office did things where I grew up change for us and most everyone and for the better. He was the perfect guy for the job in that moment of history. And I give credit to God, Ronny and Fred Rogers for the man I am to day, and the way I think about and treat people. He was a actor !!!!!! he committed genocide against African Americans and then whites with crack pouring drugs into poor city’s This is all true he sure played a great president but was a lier and is probably burning in hell
At first I was a little starstruck he shook my hand with both of his hands and he build up a conversation that led to a punchline Of a joke. He spoke with definitive command in his voice. he was very cordial and a great host. Throughout high school I was surrounded by people who just didn’t like him because he was a Republican, but after meeting him and the people around him I decided to become a Republican.
CLASS. Reagan could fight all morning with Tip O'Neil and the democrats- then go to lunch with them. Today is pettiness, and classless fueled by the sick media who love the gutter crap. The media should have some respect and quit pitting everyone against each other. We need a leader like this now.
majorsmythe1 we do have a different kind of President than Reagan was, but before Trump won and he was adored by everyone, the switch was pulled and he could do nothing right in the eyes of the media and even his own party! Add to that, investigations into every aspect of his life, even going after his family! Had this not have happened,Trump would’ve gotten off to a very different start! Even now, after he’s been vindicated, it’s only getting worse....I admire him for his tenacity and ability to still do the work for our country throughout this disgraceful time!
I brought this point up to someone, to take from Reagan I won't say of which political association that someone was. Anyway, the point being, that in days past, we could politically disagree or get maybe a bit crass, but still know the difference between that and friendship/whats best for everybody/etc, so we could go out for lunch or beer afterwards. Was told back by said person that that's now how it's supposed to work...
I admire Ronald Reagan and the way how he explained his words clearly. When hearing about his poverty as a kid, I felt so sorry for him. What amazes me is how he found his success and how he became President of The United States. On minute 2:43, I wonder what happened to his left hand. Overall, very inspiring individual and I came from absolutely nothing in Vladivostok, Russia and I was adopted into a wonderful Ukrianian-Hungarian American family.
In short, reagan became extremely wealthy after failing as an actor by being a paid spokesperson by corporations like GE, Coors, and Bloomingdale’s. He sold out his people by being a union president of the MCA and speaking for corporations, a conflict of interest: RFK the attorney general at the time subpoenaed Reagan’s taxes and that is partially why he left the Democratic Party. He was pissed at RFK:
Bluntly I may be over anxious to hear the current President give his final address this year, While working at home I listened to this collection of sincere and positive Reagan stories and his final address. This collection reminded me of my early pride in the United States and Presidents of intelligence and quality.
Whatever his flaws may have been, this man affected my life deeply and positively. I had been a young working adult just out of high school under Jimmy Carter. Carter made me and others feel defeated, and that sky high inflation, interest rates, and fuel shortages were the "new normal" that we all had to adjust to. The country was in a sullen and defeated mood. Carter was a good man, but he told us all essentially to just get used to it. Joe Biden today reminds me very much of Jimmy Carter, minus Carter's good works on humanitarian causes. By contrast to Carter, Biden just seems venal. When Reagan took office, the mood of the country changed overnight. He was a master communicator, unrivaled since except perhaps by Bill Clinton. Reagan made us think anything was possible, because he really believed it was. He made us proud to be Americans again, largely by example. He didn't require huge rallies with choreographed music or hats with printed slogans to do it, either. He simply exuded confidence in his American vision whenever he spoke. With this new confidence, I married, started my first business, and bought my first house. My wife and I both invested in improving our education, which paid off for decades to come. My work took me to a number of foreign countries, and how I was treated as a visiting American dramatically changed for the better when Reagan took office. Reagan may not have been correct about everything, but he spent eight years as our National Cheerleader, which is a major part of the role of our President. I actually feel sorry for those too young to have known life under his presidency. I'm glad I didn't miss it.
Your words captured the feelings of those times so well. Regan restored hope and faith in what we missed that was so sacred. Yes we were fortunate to have lived it. They just don't make them like that anymore.
I remember that "overnight" positive change in the atmosphere of people's outlook, soon after Reagan took office. Even the culture seemed to change; the U.S. became energized with activity & progress, the stock market did very well (overall); hand in hand with the progress, people were constantly entering business ventures with confidence of economic success, etc. It wasn't all perfect, but Reagan understand basically how the country could work well, economically. I also admired Reagan for his anti "big government" beliefs; he had no illusions about government's desire for power & the over reaches of power government is capable of. I also believe he was a decent, warm & humanitarian person, character traits I would wish to return in presidents & politicians.
Carter was a good president, who was handed an inflationary economy, and hired Federal Reserve Chairman- Paul Volcker, which had helped to stop inflation. Carter was intelligent, and had very high morals. Carter was weak, when it came to Iran, and the hostages. Reagan was intelligent, eloquent in speaking and jocular, always joking around. Reagan's one mistake was to Iran-Contra Affair, having the CIA and Oliver North fight off communism in Nicaragua, supporting the Sandinista's, using the funding from the sale of weapons and drugs. Biden is absolutely no Carter. Biden may be the worst president in U.S. history.
He wasn’t, go read up on him and his administration blatantly ignored the aids epidemic in the beginning and most of the way through. GOP were evil fucks then and just a different version having morphed into the GQP.
idiot , Regan was a multi felon under Federal law SEE: 18 USC sec.241. He, and Nixon were part of McCarthy's communist with hunt that ruined many hundreds of innocent peoples lives
He was a great man! Watch some of his interviews and see how well-versed he was on every subject. See his vision and how much he got right. Some people mock him, I guess, but not sure why. He did a great job.
Is it just me or are others hearts yearning for a president like him today ? Someone where country and its institutions matter more than political gain
"There's no limit to what a man can do or say if he doesn't care who gets the credits" President Reagan had it carved on a piece of wood that still stands to this day on the resolute desk in the oval room at the white house. I saw it on a picture that came out in "time" magazine back in 1981 . Great phrase , great man, great leader, great country. God bless America.
Doug Hunt, yes America IS yearning and desperately needs a man like Ronald Reagan again. I think that's why Americans so love Donald Trump. He is the closest America will ever get to another Ronald Reagan.
My respect and admiration for Mr Reagan as the President of the United States 🇺🇸. He was by far one of the best Presidents we ever had. A gentleman, carismatic , funny good humor a man with excellent morals and integrity. He put greatness back on the US. He was a good Leader and Loved America the Great and Free. I was traveling for work a lot during his time in office, and I remember once, waiting for my plane in the airport bar, when Reagan came on the TV. Everyone stopped, you could hear a pin drop. No other prez I'd ever seen could do that, BE that, to hold an airport bar captive. I miss him greatly. I miss leaders who LOVE this country.
Oh, I believe President Trump loves this country…I just don’t think Trump has had the public speaking training that Ronald Reagan had as a young man and isn’t that a shame. Obama had the speech training…but, he does NOT love this country or it’s citizens…and that was an even bigger shame.

33yrs, 3mos, 3days ago this interview took place and now pops up in my feed. And, notice how respectful a Democrat newsperson is towards a Republican President. How far down into the gutter has the whole journalist field fallen.
I agree with you 100 percent Mr 💯 percent im a lifelong Democrat, regardless , Ronald Reagan was a great President and a most great speaker he represented the u.s.a with all the love and care
Well, he had early Alzheimers during this interview. Whoever is in office, we don’t need any kind of Iran-Contra type events occurring. Allegedly, he would just sign off on whatever was put in front of him by his staff (and numerous times at that). His advisors were even caught shredding documents on this whole ordeal, trying to make the whole thing disappear. Even if he really didn’t remember any of this like he claimed, it’s still something we don’t need today… there’s enough scandal. What we need is a young president (one below retirement age)… someone who understands the economic and societal struggles that new generations face, one with very little grey hair, great bedside manner (like Reagan in that way), someone that can unite this country, help the poor, help industries/corporations thrive… someone that sets all of us up for success in the future.
It is a good thing that this man is growing in appreciation. He is the definition of honorable. His popularity at the time of his presidency was volatile. At the time of his attempted assassination the country came together in shock and American flags were flown everywhere. Later, his presidency was rocked because of the hearings on the Nicaraguan issue. At the end, he was often derided for his impending dementia. All irrelevant when compared to the good and advantageous things which occurred from his work in the office. Seeing this interview I now see what a gentle good heart he had.
How calm Mr. Reagan speaks. How he explains problems, even when I do not agree with him I understand his point of view. How much we lost for these years!
I came to this country in 1970 to go to College. One day I saw the two conventions on TV. I heard Ronald Reagan Speech and Jimmy Carter's. I chose Ronald Reagan. Been a Republican since then.
Sometimes it amazes me how many clueless people we have in America! No matter how much the evil media lies , they still fall for their lies over and over!!

Ronald Reagan is nearly the same age (77, 78 in February) in this NBC clip as Joe Biden is currently (78), and the level of articulation, cadence, and sincerity is incomparable. Reagan didn't get Alzheimer's Disease until five years after his presidency had come to an end, and lived with it for 10 years until his death in 2004. I have little doubt that had he contracted the disease at some point during his eight years in office, he would have had the common decency to step down as president, even if it meant someone in the rival party. This is the difference between the old men of only a few decades ago, and the old men of today "leading" the country. Class.
That's not quite true. His son Ron spoke to his father's neurologist after Ronald Reagan died, & the doctor said he HAD TO HAVE HAD IT during the latter years of his Presidency! The time you get or develop an illness, vs when you are diagnosed with it are two different things, entirely!
@@matthewrider6453 so if that's the case, and we don't know, that means even with possibly early Alzhaimers the guy was still 100x the man that clown in the WH now ever was.
@@AlexM-uo9gk I happen to disagree. Reagan was a union buster, but boy did he like to tout that AFL-CIO membership on the campaign trail! He was just as bad as Reagan 2.0, aka Bill Clinton! They both believed in deregulation of Wall Street, & they both sold out American manufacturing jobs to corporations, who, in turn, sold those jobs out to the Chinese. Biden has created more jobs in his first not-quite-one-&-one-third yrs in office than those two did in their first two FULL yrs.... COMBINED! And that's just a Google-able fact. So I have to respectfully disagree with you. But that's the whole purpose of opinion, isn't it?

@USAAF1941: I believe if the mainstream media were different and we didnt live in such evil and polarizing times, President Trump would not have had to act on constant defense and be the way he was and would have achieved extraordinary things with the help and support of Congress, but America is so divided nowadays, which made it impossible for President Trump to accomplish things he could have.

Reagan and Trump are similar in their beliefs of God, family and country. It's rare to find that in presidential candidates anymore.
I was just thinking that!
It’s all about President Reagan’s rock-firmed faith in his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Biden may be the worst president in U.S. history.
I am 23 and I wish I lived under Reagan. Joe Biden is also making me depressed and not proud about living in America.
I was just a kid in the 80's but now at 41 I realize what a great president Reagan was

@dylans cornner exactly and that's why tens of thousands support him in any county. No other politician was loved like him
Doug Hunt, yes America IS yearning and desperately needs a man like Ronald Reagan again. I think that's why Americans so love Donald Trump. He is the closest America will ever get to another Ronald Reagan.
Only idiots!
A good human being 😀😂😎👍

Trump isn’t fit to be even close to a Reaganite.
Ya never know given half the chance!
I tried to catch all his speeches and press conferences, he was a very engaging speaker.
People did this for Obama
Amen to that.. it is shameful to have the leaders we have today. None of them could match up to this great man.
Oh, I believe President Trump loves this country…I just don’t think Trump has had the public speaking training that Ronald Reagan had as a young man and isn’t that a shame. Obama had the speech training…but, he does NOT love this country or it’s citizens…and that was an even bigger shame.
Hmm....if President Trump acted like President Reagan TODAY....the PTB would've already have TOTALLY removed him from the scene. We'rein a different era!!! 14:07 e@@nancycurtis488

Not just journalism but politics too.

A wonderful family Man, and President. Humourous at times. He will always be so sadly missed, throughout the World. R.I.P. Mr Reagan.
What a man...What a person... We need him today.
cuz youre a deranged jerkoff?
Yes, do what Reagan did and ignore all the serious issues that were going on at the time. Crack, AIDS, crime, etc
