Was out flying and filming today when a man and his son approached me about less expensive quads. I gave them your sight name and told them they could see them all tested here. Keep up the good work!
Recommend you do a good balance job on those props ... should give you smoother flights in 3S. If you want to FPV it, get a TX03 and mount it on top. Tap the balance plug with the output of just one cell. The TX03 can output 25mw, 50mw, or 200mw, which would give you plenty of range for a 300m flight, provided you have a decent antenna on your display or goggles. Got my 6S Edge activated today, and they were able to transfer a lot of stuff, but anything which requires a 'log in' didn't get transferred, so I will have to re-download about 25 apps to the thing. Stopped and picked up a case for it and a "Gorilla glass" screen protector as well, so its ready to rumble .. well, it will be when I finish downloading a bunch of apps. Once I get it done, I'll revert my 4S back to "factory" and sell it on eBay to get back some of what I spent on the 6S Edge. Lots of rain and wind here for almost the next week, so flying weather will be scarce as a sober person in NOLA on Fat Tuesday. Cheers.
DJ Also, TigerRC did some tests and shaped his stock props and found that even though it did not perform as sharp in some areas they did take the trembling out. Great video and testing you are sure putting it to the test!
Very good flying DJ, I have plenty of the 2S batteries so I will just use those. I am a little concerned about possibly burning out the esc's with a bigger battery. I use a small piece of card board on one side of the battery to make it fit in the slot and thanks for the link to the adapters. I bought several of them for the T plug and the banana plugs.
My Bugs 3 seamed fine at first with BN6045 props and 3s 35C battery. I was keeping a close eye (hand check) on how hot the ESC's were and all was ok. Must have had about 10 flights with the 3s over about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden the ESC's started to get very hot, even split the shrink rap on one ESC. No damage it appears but keep an eye on the ESC temp if you are flying on 3s batteries - NO MORE 3S FOR ME THOUGH!

Yes, I am aware of that modification. I found it's best to stick with 2S batteries for everyday flying, use the 3S batteries for a serious sport flying session. Prolong use of 3S batteries will eventually cause trouble! Thanks for watching. DJ SOUL FORCE
DJ, You are correct when u say it's a beast on 3S. I solved my shaking by balancing the props. I did notice that on 3S it tends to drop down out the sky really fast.
Yeah, I did notice that on 3s, the LVC is much shorter. As soon as the lights started blinking, she came down really fast. It didn't give me the extra 3 minutes of flight time after the lights started blinking! Thanks for your feedback.

Hey my friend! I picked up a brand new Bugs 3 on Ebay for $47 shipped. Flew it for about 10 minutes 3 days ago for the first time. I hope I can get it out of the tree tomorrow after I buy a slingshot... ;) Fast little flyer. I bought the 3S battery and adapter along with the tri-blade props to stop the vibration but I never got that far. Got it stuck in the tree with the 2S battery. If you go full stick forward without pulling up a bit it will drive the nose straight into the ground.
Hey bro, all I can say is "practice, practice & more practice!" Lol, I hope the slingshot works or just cut down the whole tree!!! Also, be careful to not overdrive it with the 3S battery, can burn out an esc easily. I suggest not using the 3S for everyday flying, but occassional short sport flights. To answer the question about what happens when you get the beep that your to far away from the TX: it slowly drops out of the sky and mildly crash lands. I think I had it to high and I got a single beep and I saw it spiraling downward and I was unable to regain control. Outside of the top cover popping off I had no damage. Lucky I guess. So you were wise not to take it out of range. I need to do further testing.

hey DJ funny you posted this video today...coincedently I just received my bullet to xt30 adapters to use my x8c batteries and x16 3s lipo on my bugs today in the mail, also in the same package came a deans and also a xt60 to xt30 converter plug adapter..so I can fly the Bugs on all my birds lipos now 😉 I'll be flying mine tomorrow...great video brother and nice flying..have a great weekend Dave from PWOZ RC 😎👍

Been there, done that... I had a conflict in wifi for GoPro and the transmitter, heard the beeps, and she went down... Fortunately it was on a nice soft patch of grass...
I have a question for you my friend... I LOVE MY BUGS 3, but the constant connecting and unconnecting of the battery finally took its toll and the wire separated from the plug. I was able to solder the wires back to the plug but know the solder will not withhold long the constant plugging and unplugging. What I decided to do to keep flying is to keep the battery plugged into the quadcopter and simply cut the red (+) wire, keeping the black (-) wire intact. Now when I want to fly, I twist the two red wires together to give it power and I'm ready to go. Works fine, but my question is the following: Can I charge with the balanced charger and have the black (-) power wire connected to the quadcopter? Doesn't seem to me like it would cause problems but I'm afraid to charge battery back up until I can confirm charging with black wire connected won't fry my precious Bugs 3... What do you think? Charge away, or look for another solution where I can completely unplug the battery from the Bugs 3, before charging? Thanks for your help Soul Force, love your videos!
You should be able to charge your battery with the black wire connected and cause no harm to your FC. My suggestion to you is to immediately get a couple of more batteries ASAP!!! Good luck, thanks for watching!
@@DJSOULFORCE I like the way you think Soul man... 👍 I actually modified it with simple switch to keep from pulling on wires to power on and off. Works fine with disadvantage of not being able to charge multiple batteries. Just out of curiosity, how do you plug and unplug to keep from tugging on the wires and eventually breaking the solder?
I tug on the wires too, but I try to make sure that I tug on the heat shrink found at the base of the connector versus pulling on the actual wires themselves! I also have 5 batteries for my Bugs that I rotate, which has probably cut down on the wear & tear!!! Good luck buddy, happy flying!!!

The CG035 now has a version 2 which is suppose to be much better than v1. I've been told the older versions have been pulled from the shelves, so if you order now, you'll get the new version. Those brushless motors get more flight time on the battery than when in the x8 with the brush motors. I get 6 to 8 mins with my x8 on that same battery you are testing. I have gotten 15 to 18 mins on the Bugs standard battery. Aggressive flight, 11 to 13 mins. Good test flight! 😎👍🏽👍🏽
george aura yeah, using Wi-Fi can cause erratic flight and especially reduced range since it's the same frequency as the transmitter. That's why the Wi-Fi fpv quads suck so bad. lol

I have not received my drone that uses a 3s lipo so I just got a new bugs 3 in today and I want to try my 3's out on it but I have no battery charger is there any way to modify my battery charger that came with the bugs drone defeat the 3's battery I've got two separate kind of bug balance Chargers one. I do not suggest modifying a MJX 2S charger to 3S. I suggest you get a Pro charger, like the iMax B6 PRO charger so that you can charge all of your LiPo/Li-Ion/Li-Fe/NiMH, etc, batteries from 2S to 6S. @@DJSOULFORCE Hey Soul Force check this out I looked it up and plus I researched it beforehand but on a 2's battery charger balancer charger the ones for the mjx bugs if you take them apart and you look and it's got three pins 4 2s and under, usually how long it takes you to charge a 2s battery you take the jacket all the way off around the pens the left side of the pen zappone charge it for 2 hours full back go to your list and put it in on the last one you know your first three then move it over once your left and do the other three just a little reference brother I know it ain't cool to do it but sometimes when you ain't got it you just ain't got it anyways I put my B3 in the air last night on 3s with little cheap AIO camera this fpv I went almost two miles in mine brother there and back in about 5 minutes

Not sure if I can help or not. I only recommend the original factory battery, as others have not proven to give any better results. For optimum flight times, I've found the stock battery to perform best. They are available online at Gearbest.com or Banggood and should be no problem getting them to the U.K. Good luck, thanks for your question.
to get rid of that 3s judder... I suggest buy some triblades.. i have triblades fitted on mine atm ...it gets rid of that 3s vibration and delivers stable flight for jello free video..I'll try get some footage tomorrow bro with 3s
I can't really recommend 6045 triblades for the Bugs 3 though as I've heard a few cases where the ESCs became quite hot after a flight with those. I believe the ESCs aren't capable of handling the amp draw created by the 3 blade props most likely because they're only 12-15A rated while 6045 3 blades can draw more than that. Just to be safe, 6040/6045 two blades(non bullnose) are best for 3S use at the moment.
Onederman 1997 I haven't found that problem on any of my triblades flights..I've taken my canopy off after flights and escs or motors on my bugs are never hot using 6045 props

The Bayangtoys X16 battery is 11.1 volts. The Syma X8C etc and the MJX Bugs 3 batteries are both 7.4 volts. Wouldn't the added voltage of the 11.1v Bayangtoys X16 cause damage to the Bugs 3's electronic components?
The Bugs 3 is designed to use 2s or 3s batteries, however, YES, (my personal theory is) the 3s batteries will eventually cause damage to the ESCs. Hey SOUL FORCE QUADS, do you guys know that using that 3 s battery that it is rated at 11.1 vdc and the stock battery is rated at 7.4 vdc? The problems are with the voltage regulator control on the ESCs. A over voltage on a regulator will cause it to heat up where it's try to maintain 7.4 v. If the regulator(s) gets hot it can go into a thermo runaway. Everything on the mainboard, ESCs gets overvoltaged and can breakdown. By running overvoltage it's like running your car with a battery voltage at 16.2 vdc. The Hubsan battery might be the best choice and check it out if it physically fits the holder it might be a better choice. www.banggood.com/Hubsan-H501S-X4-RC-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-7_4V-2700mAh-10C-Battery-H501S-14-p-1045993.html?rmmds=search I am pretty sure you have a Hubsan H501S so I give it a try.
Thanks Dennis - I agree and am aware of the heat issues, this was just a demo for the viewers. I'm sticking with the stock battery or 2S batteries!!! I spoke about the ups & downs of using 3S batteries in my video titled "Bugs 3, I Love This Quad!" and have warned the guys about ESCs burning up! I'll give the H501s battery a try to see if it fits and let you know. thanks!!!!
Kidd - The Hubsan H501s battery will fit inside the Bugs 3 battery bay, but it's a little loose. Wrapping a rubber band around the battery will take up the slack and hold it pretty firm. You will need to modify the connector or use an adapter to plug in! Good luck.
Your flight time will vary depending on your flying style, how hard you fly, how much weight you are carrying and flips. Flight times with the stock 1800mAh battery is around 15 -18 minutes. Thanks for watching. DJ SOUL FORCE

Using the 3c battery felt like twice the power, almost kind of scary! The extra power will cause some shaking (judder) and extra vibration in your video if you're filming but damn it's fun!!! I don't use the 3s battery for everyday flying, just the days I feel that "need for speed!" Some guys say the 3s batteries can cause ESCs to burn out faster because of the extra heat generated. Check youtube for Bugs 3 with 3s batteries, you'll see how much faster the Bugs 3 will fly with the 3s batts... POW!!!

I found them to be equal in flight performance, except the Syma battery gave me a few less minutes of flight time. (around 3-4) However, the Syma battery used in this video was a "well used" old battery I had laying around, your time could be longer! Thanks for watching. DJ SOUL FORCE
Thank you. I see 2 Bugs 3 batteries for 30, so no much saving for buying a Syma. I also posted a comment about Hubsan H501S batteries, fit in the Bugs 3 but they are 10 C instead of 25 C. Would that be an issue? I sold the Hubsan so I am wondering whether returning the 2 new spare batteries for it or adapting them for the Bugs 3
I don't know if that will be an issue or not. Sorry, I've never tested 10C vs. 25C battery before! I didn't realize the H501s' battery was only 10C... I have that quad and 2 spare batteries!!! (but I dont' have adapter for connecting) I'm guessing, but it sounds like the 10C battery will reduce the punch, as that battery has a slower discharge rate ( "C" rating). Hope this helps.

From what I hear, you can only use the MJX transmitter for the Bugs 3. I'm hoping this will change with the release of the new Bugs 2 GPS and Bugs 6 (or 8) Racer, soon to start shipping. Shame... I just ordered the Devo 12e, but it's cool to fly the bugs with MJX tx, but could be better with Devo!!! Have you heard anything yet?

I bought the 3S battery and adapter along with the tri-blade props to stop the vibration but I never got that far. Got it stuck in the tree with the 2S battery. If you go full stick forward without pulling up a bit it will drive the nose straight into the ground.
Hey bro, all I can say is "practice, practice & more practice!" Lol, I hope the slingshot works or just cut down the whole tree!!! Also, be careful to not overdrive it with the 3S battery, can burn out an esc easily. I suggest not using the 3S for everyday flying, but occassional short sport flights. To answer the question about what happens when you get the beep that your to far away from the TX: it slowly drops out of the sky and mildly crash lands. I think I had it to high and I got a single beep and I saw it spiraling downward and I was unable to regain control. Outside of the top cover popping off I had no damage. Lucky I guess. So you were wise not to take it out of range. I need to do further testing.

hey DJ funny you posted this video today...coincedently I just received my bullet to xt30 adapters to use my x8c batteries and x16 3s lipo on my bugs today in the mail, also in the same package came a deans and also a xt60 to xt30 converter plug adapter..so I can fly the Bugs on all my birds lipos now 😉 I'll be flying mine tomorrow...great video brother and nice flying..have a great weekend Dave from PWOZ RC 😎👍

The H501 battery has a much lower C rating, would probably make it very sluggish.

Been there, done that... I had a conflict in wifi for GoPro and the transmitter, heard the beeps, and she went down... Fortunately it was on a nice soft patch of grass...

I have a question for you my friend... I LOVE MY BUGS 3, but the constant connecting and unconnecting of the battery finally took its toll and the wire separated from the plug. I was able to solder the wires back to the plug but know the solder will not withhold long the constant plugging and unplugging.
What I decided to do to keep flying is to keep the battery plugged into the quadcopter and simply cut the red (+) wire, keeping the black (-) wire intact. Now when I want to fly, I twist the two red wires together to give it power and I'm ready to go. Works fine, but my question is the following:
Can I charge with the balanced charger and have the black (-) power wire connected to the quadcopter?
Doesn't seem to me like it would cause problems but I'm afraid to charge battery back up until I can confirm charging with black wire connected won't fry my precious Bugs 3...
What do you think? Charge away, or look for another solution where I can completely unplug the battery from the Bugs 3, before charging?

I actually modified it with simple switch to keep from pulling on wires to power on and off. Works fine with disadvantage of not being able to charge multiple batteries.
Just out of curiosity, how do you plug and unplug to keep from tugging on the wires and eventually breaking the solder?
I tug on the wires too, but I try to make sure that I tug on the heat shrink found at the base of the connector versus pulling on the actual wires themselves! I also have 5 batteries for my Bugs that I rotate, which has probably cut down on the wear & tear!!! Good luck buddy, happy flying!!!

I recently reviewed the CG035 (older version) on my channel (th-cam.com/video/L5YI9nf78e4/w-d-xo.html) and it had some issues. The CG035 now has a version 2 which is suppose to be much better than v1. I've been told the older versions have been pulled from the shelves, so if you order now, you'll get the new version. Those brushless motors get more flight time on the battery than when in the x8 with the brush motors. I get 6 to 8 mins with my x8 on that same battery you are testing. I have gotten 15 to 18 mins on the Bugs standard battery. Aggressive flight, 11 to 13 mins. Good test flight! 😎👍🏽👍🏽

I have not received my drone that uses a 3s lipo so I just got a new bugs 3 in today and I want to try my 3's out on it but I have no battery charger is there any way to modify my battery charger that came with the bugs drone defeat the 3's battery I've got two separate kind of bug balance Chargers one. I do not suggest modifying a MJX 2S charger to 3S. I suggest you get a Pro charger, like the iMax B6 PRO charger so that you can charge all of your LiPo/Li-Ion/Li-Fe/NiMH, etc, batteries from 2S to 6S. @@DJSOULFORCE Hey Soul Force check this out I looked it up and plus I researched it beforehand but on a 2's battery charger balancer charger the ones for the mjx bugs if you take them apart and you look and it's got three pins 4 2s and under, usually how long it takes you to charge a 2s battery you take the jacket all the way off around the pens the left side of the pen zappone charge it for 2 hours full back go to your list and put it in on the last one you know your first three then move it over once your left and do the other three just a little reference brother I know it ain't cool to do it but sometimes when you ain't got it you just ain't got it anyways I put my B3 in the air last night on 3s with little cheap AIO camera this fpv I went almost two miles in mine brother there and back in about 5 minutes

Not sure if I can help or not. I only recommend the original factory battery, as others have not proven to give any better results. For optimum flight times, I've found the stock battery to perform best. They are available online at Gearbest.com or Banggood and should be no problem getting them to the U.K. Good luck, thanks for your question.
to get rid of that 3s judder... I suggest buy some triblades.. i have triblades fitted on mine atm ...it gets rid of that 3s vibration and delivers stable flight for jello free video..I'll try get some footage tomorrow bro with 3s

SOUL FORCE QUADS no sorry my friend I haven't...but triblades and prop nuts are very cheap on ebay...only a few bucks per set for props and prop nuts
I can't really recommend 6045 triblades for the Bugs 3 though as I've heard a few cases where the ESCs became quite hot after a flight with those. I believe the ESCs aren't capable of handling the amp draw created by the 3 blade props most likely because they're only 12-15A rated while 6045 3 blades can draw more than that. Just to be safe, 6040/6045 two blades(non bullnose) are best for 3S use at the moment.

Onederman 1997 I haven't found that problem on any of my triblades flights..I've taken my canopy off after flights and escs or motors on my bugs are never hot using 6045 props

The Bayangtoys X16 battery is 11.1 volts. The Syma X8C etc and the MJX Bugs 3 batteries are both 7.4 volts. Wouldn't the added voltage of the 11.1v Bayangtoys X16 cause damage to the Bugs 3's electronic components?
The Bugs 3 is designed to use 2s or 3s batteries, however, YES, (my personal theory is) the 3s batteries will eventually cause damage to the ESCs. What kind a 3s battery I can use with a banana connector? I have an adapter on the way for my BugS 3.
I don't know off hand, you'll have to do some searching. I used one from my BayangToys X16, but mine was custom made, the stock x16 battery is just a little too wide. Good luck

Hey SOUL FORCE QUADS, do you guys know that using that 3 s battery that it is rated at 11.1 vdc and the
stock battery is rated at 7.4 vdc? The problems are with the voltage regulator control on the ESCs. A over
voltage on a regulator will cause it to heat up where it's try to maintain 7.4 v. If the regulator(s) gets hot
it can go into a thermo runaway. Everything on the mainboard, ESCs gets overvoltaged and can breakdown.
By running overvoltage it's like running your car with a battery voltage at 16.2 vdc. The Hubsan battery might
be the best choice and check it out if it physically fits the holder it might be a better choice.

Thanks Dennis - I agree and am aware of the heat issues, this was just a demo for the viewers. I'm sticking with the stock battery or 2S batteries!!! I spoke about the ups & downs of using 3S batteries in my video titled "Bugs 3, I Love This Quad!" and have warned the guys about ESCs burning up! Kidd - The Hubsan H501s battery will fit inside the Bugs 3 battery bay, but it's a little loose. Wrapping a rubber band around the battery will take up the slack and hold it pretty firm. You will need to modify the connector or use an adapter to plug in! Good luck.

Using the 3c battery felt like twice the power, almost kind of scary! The extra power will cause some shaking (judder) and extra vibration in your video if you're filming but damn it's fun!!! I don't use the 3s battery for everyday flying, just the days I feel that "need for speed!" Some guys say the 3s batteries can cause ESCs to burn out faster because of the extra heat generated. Check youtube for Bugs 3 with 3s batteries, you'll see how much faster the Bugs 3 will fly with the 3s batts... POW!!!

I am asking as I bought some batteries for Syma X8 and used those XT30 adapters. I get low voltage warning after i install them and fly a few seconds

Would that be an issue? I sold the Hubsan so I am wondering whether returning the 2 new spare batteries for it or adapting them for the Bugs 3
I don't know if that will be an issue or not. Sorry, I've never tested 10C vs. 25C battery before! I didn't realize the H501s' battery was only 10C... I have that quad and 2 spare batteries!!! (but I dont' have adapter for connecting) I'm guessing, but it sounds like the 10C battery will reduce the punch, as that battery has a slower discharge rate ( "C" rating). Hope this helps.

From what I hear, you can only use the MJX transmitter for the Bugs 3. I'm hoping this will change with the release of the new Bugs 2 GPS and Bugs 6 (or 8) Racer, soon to start shipping. Shame... I just ordered the Devo 12e, but it's cool to fly the bugs with MJX tx, but could be better with Devo!!! Have you heard anything yet?

Yeah, the heavier camera and the aggressive flying & flips will decrease your flight time. But hey, the Bugs 3 flies better with a Syma battery than a Syma does!!!! LoL!!!
