Quadcopter 101 Hey! I was wondering if you could make a video setting this all up. I want to buy this but I want to know how to connect the goggles and camera and such.
If it is to be your first quadcopter UDI 818A. The Bugs3 is not a safe first quadcopter for a brand new pilot. You're not going to get hurt with the 818A.
Thank you for going into detail on your videos about how to operate these quadcopters with transmitter. Such as how to arm quad & disarm etc. Many times the instructions are written in Chinglish & no one can dicipher what the manufacturer is saying. Which leads to confusion & frustration. That quadcopter is so awesome. I lost my black one so I got a red one. I was flying in a school yard near where I live and I lost it up on the roof but when I went to look for it with a camera drone I couldn't find it. Then two weeks later I was flyng my red one and somebody climbed up there and found the black one so now I have both. I like to fly the red one with the black canopy on it and the black one with the red canopy. That quad is fast, powerful, maneuverable, quiet and cheap.
i took my bugs up high today and the wind made me lose orientation fast, i tried your orientation tips but it was too windy i shouldnt of flown really, when it became a dot in the sky my battery got low then it dissappeared, after 1 hour of searching i found it nearly a mile away squished into the mud with the top cover popped off, no damage to props, and it flies perfect, for a toy grade quadcopter it is sturdy as hell!
Frequent flyer flew his on a 3s. The esc's are rated for it, but the pids are a little high on 3 cells.You can here it oscillate pretty well. Just don't do like he did and have a loose solder joint on the adapter...... Goes like a bat out of hell though. Nice flight, I will be getting one of these soon. Ill have to tell the old lady I won it though.... Ya I have a few hahaha

You made this video over 16 months ago but after a long tedious search l decided that the Bugs 3 was my best choice. $120 with 2 batteries. Not too bad. This should keep me busy for a while learning to equal it's capabilities. Thanks
Quadcopter 101 obviously has more taste in quads than t-shirts! Seriously, I am looking at all options for my first quad, and if this guy hasn't driven it, I'm not interested! very good analyses. Wish my local terrain was as flat as this, though, but I'm hoping all the shrubs and bushes are forgiving.
You should have used the TX03 with selectable power output, as you were getting breakup in the FPV video and freezes .. always dangerous when flying a fast quad. They make these little 5v DC-DC regulators, that are about the size of a postage stamp, and cost next to nothing (

Thinking about how you've noticed the climbing instinct the B3 seems to have. The body shape is a good airfoil, curved top and flat bottom. Coupled with its speed that could give it extra lift, ya think?
im removing that headlight and put the fpv cam u have on yours upside down so the antenna will b diagonal in that front part and i can run the wires into the holes like the antenna and attach the balance plug. hopefully the cable is long enough. what u think?

Here is the camera that I used. goo.gl/oWuMlj Notice that it comes with balance plug connectors for 2S, 3S, and 4S batteries. I merely removed the pins from the camera's power cable, and inserted them into the +/- terminals of a 2S balance plug connector for the quadcopter. I also insulated them with some thin shrink tubing. As such, I can power the camera off of the balance plug lead of the quadcopter's battery. I powered it off of the balance plug of the quadcopter's battery. The MC-01 AIO camera that I used may be powered by any battery from 5 to 17 Volts (mainly intended for 2S through 4S batteries). No it does not. Manual 6 axis stabilized flying only. No altitude hold, auto takeoff/land, headless mode, or one key return. Not for beginner fliers, mainly intended for intermediate fliers as their first brushless quadcopter.

I have the brushed MJX X400 and X600. Now I would like to buy a brushless drone. I was looking at the Hubsan H501S and this Bugs 3. The bugs 3 is cheaper, but gets very good reviews. Which one would you advise between the Hubsan H501s and MJX Bug 3? I am not a beginner, I also fly RC helicopters and had a lot of practise with the X400/X600. Thank you.

Hi. i have a question about hooking my aio camera to the lipo lead but my camera didn't come with the wire to plug to the battery and I'm new to aio's and can't find correct plug .female plug with black and red wire come off camera(HRS997T mini aio fpv. can you please tell me what wire i will need.I have the mjx bugs 3. is it best when you fly this is to point your transmitter to the drone. like flying in circles around the pilot? because i get a weak signal if i fly on the left 50-60m of me but great signal on my right. i have 2 x bugs 3 so i know its not the transmitter or drone. the weak signal beaps just for afew seconds
The most signal comes from the side, and the weakest signal comes from the tip of the antenna. So never point the tip at the quadcopter. Rather keep the quadcopter oriented perpendicular to the antenna.

Brushless motors = SPEED. Longer life, etc. Depending what your price range check out LaTraxx Aton or even DJI Phantom 3, DJI sells refurbished ones, with warranty for $359 delivered.
I made one order from gear worst, I will never make that mistake again.If you want to order something that is advertised at gear worst, I would advise you to order from somewhere else. If gear worst is the only place that has the product, then I advise to chose a different product. This quad can be purchased on amazon and you'll actually get it before your too old to use it, and if something is wrong with your order, Amazon, as well as most places actually has customer service.

problem with those bugs 3 is i cannot find parts and things like that. syma has a lot of part but need some tx upgrade with 5dbi antenna and also not great for gopro. problem with this is the parts
If I buy this camera to put it on my Bugs3 (it already has a vague slot on the board, right?) And use that OTG receiver, will the FPV system work with my smartphone or did I forget something? The concept should work. But I'm not sure what the power output is from the Bugs 3 plug. If it's over 5.5V, it would fry the camera. But there are other AIO cameras with wide range of power input. Best are those that can use 2.9 to 10 volts.
If you had to choose would you choose the bugs 3 or the Bayang x16? Very torn between the two and have them both in my cart online, I plan to take some arial shots and that will be the main point of my drone, this will also be my first drone. The difference between the two right now are around 20$, can anyone help me out? :3
Neither are appropriate as a first drone. As a new flier, you are going to be crashing, crashing hard, and crashing often. It's inevitable as you learn the hard way what not to do. Both of these are too big and heavy, and will hurt people, break things, and easily break themselves within your first few beginner flights. I always recommend the Syma X5C for new fliers, due to its excellent stability, durability, and ease of flying. And it even has a camera too. Use it to learn the basics of flight with. Let this cheap quadcopter take the inevitable crashes and bangs of a beginner flier. And if you break it, every part on it is cheap, widely available, and easily replaceable. another good video i have had my bug 3 in the air and it flies good con.the standard props are not good quality .hubsan h501s props are much better also i think it flies best with 2s battery , not so fast as 3s TATTU 1300mah 11.1v 45c but mutch smoother. oh and i had to repare damage cable going to the motor before i could fly properly lift the canopy and see how tight it is for the cable for yourself GOOD LUCK new bug owner

Not needed. The camera has a wide field of view so that the horizon is always visible in forward flight. Additionally, where I mounted it allows me to also see the quadcopter's body. This helps me instantaneously gauge pitch and roll angles, a poor man's on screen display if you will.
Jan Domingo And also match the voltage requirements of the camera. Be careful as there are some cameras that work on lower voltage, and will burn up at 7.4 volts.

It will drop. But it automatically gives you warning beeps from the transmitter if the quadcopter is flying at the edge of its range. If you hear the beeps, bring the quadcopter closer.
MJX apparently sell their own FPV kit, mounted in the nose of the drone. You can get their monitor that displays the live video feed. Out of curiosity, what had you planned on viewing the feed on?
+Anthony Williams no, this was done with a 5.8 GHz analog FPV video transmitter (which won't work with phones). But there are WiFi FPV transmitters, but they generally are not very good with poor range and video resolution.
I know you're not a big fan of wifi fpv drones, but which wifi drone do you think would have the longest range(I acknowledge wifi has short range) and smooth video with very little lag? Good camera quality would be great, but not necessary.
Does you live in a desert because you upload a alot so im guessing it will cost too money and take too much time to drive out to a desert all the time to upload

I love your videos. BUT. When you fly FPV with goggles you audio sucks because your wife is too far away for the Mic on the hat cam to pick you up. Get a lapel Mic and use your smart phone as an audio recorder. use a clicker to Mark the video and audio so you can merge them in post. a cheap headphone from Wal-Mart works if you cut off the headphones and leave just the microphone part.
Yes, but WiFi smartphone digital FPV video is generally inferior to 5.8Ghz analog video due to lag and freezing of the video. This happens because the WiFi signal is on the same 2.4Ghz frequency as the controller which creates interference between the two (also greatly reduces the range of both).

Great video, When they had this quad at $88 it was a deal, however at over $115 not such a great deal without altitude hold or GPS

I think the FPV plug on the Bugs 3 board is 5v, couldn't the TX03 be plugged into that?
Better measure it to be sure .. if it is 5VDC, then it would be fine to power the TX03 with that.

is it best when you fly this is to point your transmitter to the drone. like flying in circles around the pilot? because i get a weak signal if i fly on the left 50-60m of me but great signal on my right. i have 2 x bugs 3 so i know its not the transmitter or drone. the weak signal beaps just for afew seconds
The most signal comes from the side, and the weakest signal comes from the tip of the antenna. So never point the tip at the quadcopter. Rather keep the quadcopter oriented perpendicular to the antenna.

I made one order from gear worst, I will never make that mistake again.If you want to order something that is advertised at gear worst, I would advise you to order from somewhere else. If gear worst is the only place that has the product, then I advise to chose a different product. This quad can be purchased on amazon and you'll actually get it before your too old to use it, and if something is wrong with your order, Amazon, as well as most places actually has customer service.

Here you go. What makes this camera preferential over other similar AIO cams (and why I used it) is that you can run it off of the balance plug for 2S through 4S batteries. Others would go poof if you tried to do such goo.gl/oWuMlj

problem with those bugs 3 is i cannot find parts and things like that. syma has a lot of part but need some tx upgrade with 5dbi antenna and also not great for gopro. problem with this is the parts
Yes, and that's why their transmitter control range is usually terrible (50 to 70 meters).
It's just been released, that's why there's no parts yet. But this will be hugely popular, and parts will soon follow.

The concept should work. But I'm not sure what the power output is from the Bugs 3 plug. If it's over 5.5V, it would fry the camera. But there are other AIO cameras with wide range of power input. Best are those that can use 2.9 to 10 volts.

If you had to choose would you choose the bugs 3 or the Bayang x16? Very torn between the two and have them both in my cart online, I plan to take some arial shots and that will be the main point of my drone, this will also be my first drone. Neither are appropriate as a first drone. As a new flier, you are going to be crashing, crashing hard, and crashing often. It's inevitable as you learn the hard way what not to do. Both of these are too big and heavy, and will hurt people, break things, and easily break themselves within your first few beginner flights.
I always recommend the Syma X5C for new fliers, due to its excellent stability, durability, and ease of flying. And it even has a camera too. Use it to learn the basics of flight with. Let this cheap quadcopter take the inevitable crashes and bangs of a beginner flier. And if you break it, every part on it is cheap, widely available, and easily replaceable. i have had my bug 3 in the air and it flies good
con.the standard props are not good quality .hubsan h501s props are much better
also i think it flies best with 2s battery , not so fast as 3s TATTU 1300mah 11.1v 45c but mutch smoother.
oh and i had to repare damage cable going to the motor before i could fly properly
lift the canopy and see how tight it is for the cable for yourself

Not needed. The camera has a wide field of view so that the horizon is always visible in forward flight. Additionally, where I mounted it allows me to also see the quadcopter's body. This helps me instantaneously gauge pitch and roll angles, a poor man's on screen display if you will.

Jan Domingo And also match the voltage requirements of the camera. Be careful as there are some cameras that work on lower voltage, and will burn up at 7.4 volts.

It will drop. But it automatically gives you warning beeps from the transmitter if the quadcopter is flying at the edge of its range. If you hear the beeps, bring the quadcopter closer.

+Anthony Williams no, this was done with a 5.8 GHz analog FPV video transmitter (which won't work with phones). But there are WiFi FPV transmitters, but they generally are not very good with poor range and video resolution.
I know you're not a big fan of wifi fpv drones, but which wifi drone do you think would have the longest range(I acknowledge wifi has short range) and smooth video with very little lag? Good camera quality would be great, but not necessary.
I flew one this past weekend that was pretty good, the Syma X8SW. I should be releasing its video this weekend.

I love your videos. BUT. When you fly FPV with goggles you audio sucks because your wife is too far away for the Mic on the hat cam to pick you up. Get a lapel Mic and use your smart phone as an audio recorder. use a clicker to Mark the video and audio so you can merge them in post. a cheap headphone from Wal-Mart works if you cut off the headphones and leave just the microphone part.
Ah, so a beep or click i how you synchronize the audio/video. I was wondering about that. Just not enough time to produce videos yet.

Yes, but WiFi smartphone digital FPV video is generally inferior to 5.8Ghz analog video due to lag and freezing of the video. This happens because the WiFi signal is on the same 2.4Ghz frequency as the controller which creates interference between the two (also greatly reduces the range of both).
