I fly my bugs with 2s, its flying really nice and fast except for some reason when i try to lift it straight up/punch it into the air it doesnt seem to go up as fast or as smooth as it once did. Do you know why this could be?
interesting setup on that bugs! question for you, now that this video is a year old- any negative long term effects of using a 3S battery and non standard props- have you burned out any motors or esc's? I to like the smoothness of the tri blade 6045's, but the stock motors with a 2S battery really don't have the torque to accelerate and climb like the stock 2 blades.
Never mind all the propeller and battery mods..., all I want to know is where you get such great rubber bands? The ones I get are too weak, perished, or mis-shaped. Seriously, I need help!
Hello, me again. I crashed my drone and the drone get some noisy sound. I changed ally props and the sound reduce. But now the drone has no punch and no power to the right and can't do a flip to the left. I can't figure out how to fix it but it can still fly. Mjx bug 3
Good job solving that. Have you tried for distance? I have two of bugs3 and both will only do about 100m range before getting beeps. Got a drop and recovery once around that range. Nothing like as advertised.
Tested mine I think it was over 150m I paced out and was no problem, will dig out video to check and let you know, TBH range doesn't bother me with this sort of quad as I like it close and fun ;-) Cheers
Thanks for the info on your distance. Another reviewer got only 110m also, so was curious. Sometimes close is fun and sometimes I like to see it fly at distance too. Seattle got 6" of snow (unusual) and got the Bugs3 out for some filming. Any additional signal strength would be peace of mind.
We all have different needs, that's what i love about the hobby, you got racers, smooth flying camera and all of it fun :-) That snow sounds awesome but a killer on batteries with the cold, mind you the upside is your ESC's wont overheat ;-) I like the fact you get a warning with the bugs, will try and test mine again and let you know, cheers
I haven't tested an exact range yet, but I experienced that the range heavily depends on the voltage of the cells in the transmitter. With fully charged accus (4*1,2V) and on an open field with no interference it was certainly 150 to 200 meters, but after some hours of flight-time, the range shrank to about 75 meters I guess and the transmitter gave a single beep every couple of seconds (its not described in the manual but seemed to be a low voltage warning for the transmitter, not the quad itself)... I guess you could extend the range when you put batteries with 1,5V each in the transmitter (if you haven't done already)...
Hi as you seem to be a bit of an expert on this Bugs 3 just wondered if you could give me the Benefit of your experience I'm having great trouble trying to get mine to hover it seems to go up and down like a bloody yoyo now it might be down to my lack of flying experience but in one of your bugs 3 videos you comment on how well it holds altitude with very little Input from you. So I'm just wondering if I may have a fault with mine I've tried new props and calibrating the drone itself But I Can't seem to get the remote control to go in to calibration mode to calibrate the sticks according to the manual I hold down the down trim button for 3 seconds and turn on the control which should give 3 beeps and flash the lights on the quad but this does not happen any ideas what the problem could be please
Hi Paul, don't know how experienced you are but a quick test you could do is take off props and start quad up put it to mid throttle, let go of stick and see if it hunts, ie motors change tone/sound, this should test whether it is operator input or quad problem. Like all these things it looks a doddle to hold height until you try it yourself and if new to flying, can over react to correcting fall or rise. No idea on calibration, try to test and then let me know. Hope that helps, if anyone knows of a bettr way please feel free to comment :-)
Right I tried the the running with no props thing but to be fair it sounded pretty much the same as in no hunting so I guess it must be down to my lack of my flying experience, think I may buy the new bugs 2 that has GPS hold and altitude hold, BOOM problem solved LOL found that at the great price of £89.00.Anyway thanks for your help
Hi Tigger if a put a 3s in my BUGS3 does it still need to be 7.4v as most of the ones I am looking at are 11v. Managed to take a corner, arm and rip out the motor wires, of one of my bugs the other day, it was a bit cold, unlucky I guess, brittle plastic, it was nothing like your glorious dive into the mud, just waiting for a new frame now so I can try the 3s, would you suggest 1500 or 2200 mah. thanks in anticipation of your assistance.
Hi Alan, let me explain, batteries are measured in cells(s) each cell is 3.7v(although we charge them to 4.2v) so 1cell =3.7v 2cell =7.4v 3cell =11.1v etc So you can't get a 2 cell 11.1v battery. You can only use voltage that the manufacturer states, so in this case on Bugs 3 we can use 2 or 3s(cell) most toy grade quads can don't have this option ;-) Hope that helps, cheers
Im okay with the standard battery, but i do have added weight with camera and such. I must have those props.. It looks like your saying with the after market one's that I need to purchase the nuts too? Im on it..
Yeah nothing wrong with standard or I strap a 2s under body, I prefer it for videoing, saves all that extra weight and flight times are fine for what I do, link to nuts in description ;-)
Ive really learned alot from ya bro thanks, im confused on the battery charger, do i need something different to charge the 3s battery other than what the bugs came with, and has anbody figured out what size of 3s fits nice and snug in the origina lbattery box on the qaud. THANKS!!
Hi Derek, glad the channel is helping :-) Supplied charger only does 2s I suggest this video review I did th-cam.com/video/Iezfaa8gSV8/w-d-xo.html or a more versatile one here th-cam.com/video/RPzJOKoHhhQ/w-d-xo.html no idea on 3s fitting box as i took mine off, cheers and thanks for the comment
Regarding the judder...Have you checked to see if the props are balanced? I've seen some old videos that judder/jello effects are usually due to an unbalance prop.
Hey Tigger, sorry for all the comments today (binging) but have you ever tried silicone tape? It only sticks to itself and might be a good replacement for the string holding on your gimbal. I bought some and I use it a lot more than expected, its very handy.
Thanks, not come across that may give it a look, but I do love my rubber bands, don't know where you saw string, can't rememeber using that, but TBH I would use whatever is in front of me and does the job. Cheers for the tip
This is great! What an amazing little quad! I would be curious to see what happens when you run long enough to reach LVC. What voltage will it alarm at and what kind of flight times do you get with the 3S? Looked like a close call at 5:46 too...maybe it was just the angle, but it made me go "whoa"!
I just blast it around awhile on 3s, but guess alarm will go as normal, I have no idea on flight times with 3s, I've had a few whoa moments with this quad LOL
No beep on 3s it never goes low enough, you feel it on throttle response or get one of these goo.gl/RRcCNS . BTW the bugs 3 was made to run on 2 and 3s ;-)
Hi Tigger, I have a second Bugs now that I have been using exclusively on 3s with tri props as you recommended a while back. I had a bit of an incident yesterday resulting with it falling about 40-50 feet on to a nearby gravel path. I checked it out for damage, nothing visible but I noticed when I tried the motors, without props, on a standard 2s battery there is a mid frequency vibration that seems to be coming from the board down all four legs. but I can throttle through it, its not really severe. Have you tried a 2s after using the 3s, if you havn't please could you try it for me; or would you think it was the crash that has caused the vibes. I flew it on 3s after wards and it seems fine, just a heads up for all the Bugs fans, Gearbest have the parts now for the Bugs 3 and they are way cheaper than Linparts who seemed to be the only place to get frames, motors etc...only thing they don't have is esc's. Thanks in advance, eagerly waiting for the end of the Simtoo vid lol.
excellent video...as usual!! so judder was killed by the 6045 tri blades right? what do you think of the 8045 3blades that Frequent Flyer used for a few seconds (before he crashed due to soldering problem) will they kill the judder as well and maybe flip the quad easier? thanks
Thank you. Virtually any other prop, rahter than the stock ones gets rid on judder ;-) Wow fitting 8" props on this, be amazed it could spin them, be interested in the link, thanks. If you manual flip this quad it always struggles to recover, you need a lot of height to do it and it's not a pleasant experience, I have tried loads of ways and it's never happy at it, cheers ;-)
It does say 8" for sure and 8045 in the link, but he is running 6045, you can tell as there is a big gap between body and prop, same as I ran. Pretty sure 8045 will hit the man body, unless I'm missing something here :~) Cheers
As far as I can see you can't fit an 8" prop on this, when I measured it, 4" from motor centre will hit bodywork ;-) If you find anyone that has let me know be interested. Either way the Bugs are damn good fun and I really enjoy the community of TH-cam. Thanks for your comments and support and I'm always happy to help if I can. Hope you have happy, safe, fun flying TTFN :-)
You can but it is not a good way to do it, IMHO, get as many as you need of the cheap chargers 2-3s ones and then all batteries are ready in an hour ;-)
Thats the one i have gone for. I see another vidio, can't remember by whom however the 3S that he used must have been slightly too fat. All he did was loosen the screws to the battery housing and simply re tighten once fitted, hope this helps. :)
Hi Tigger, I do have a few questions if you could be so kind to answer. Please excuse my lack of knowledge as I really am very new to this but if I do not ask, I will not get to find out things lol. I have just ordered the Walkera G-2d Gimbal but I still need to order a 3s battery. My questions are: (A) do I need the extended landing gear when using the 2-d gimbal.(B) What would you suggest for a 3s battery and does this increase flight time by a little. I appreciate that the gimbal will also draw power away from the battery alongside the drone.(C) how would this battery connect to the gimbal. I would imagine it would be through the balance cable but I may be wrong. I get confused it the battery is for instance a 2200mah and the Walkera G-2d Gimbal has a Work current: 200 mA - 500 mA. Would that be too much for the gimbal. This is where I get confused. I would appreciate your advice and thank you again for your help. However, I do promise not to be a pain all the time and bombard you with questions, I do try and follow the tutorials and always absorb advice from others. I am just a little confused with the battery. Hope you do not mind Tigger ;-)
Firstly, I'm also new to this hobby, well nearly 2 years now, but still loads to learn, asking questions is how we all learn and asking on the channel gives others a chance to help you as well, so ask away my friend, we have all been there or still to get there and sharing the hobby and what we love and loath is all a benfit IMHO OK that out the way lets get you answered :-) Firstly why do you need a 3s battery to run G-2D gimbal, from memory it runs 2-5s, don't quote me on that but it sure runs 2 & 3s no problem. I prefer to fly my Bugs 3 on 2s fully loaded and get around 10 minute flight from stock battery, I did a video on it, if you haven't found it already ;-) Yep extended landing gear, link in description, a must unless you are going to hand launch and land, risky but I did it a lot with my early quads, frighteningly good fun ;-) 3s battery for filming I wouldn't bother, that's just my view, filming IMHO should be slow and smooth 2s helps you achieve that ;-) Whoa going way to deep for me there, I use balance charge cable to JST adaptor, sling it all underneath with elastic bands etc and fly, you get your answers a lot quicker and they are real no calculations needed :-) Already answered your statement on not asking much, ask if I don't know the answer I will tell you and maybe someone else will and then we both learn a thing or two ;-) Have fun, don't get bogged down with specs etc, if I had done that with everyone telling me the Tarantula X6 will burn motors out and can't carry 200g then I would never have got any further. BTW i got awesome video off my X6 and still fly it as a treat even now :-))) WOW that was a really long answer, Ooops! have fun :-)
Thank you Tigger. I am on holiday for 4 days from today so I am going to have more time to get things organised. You reply has been very helpful and has helped a lot. Top man, you are a star. :-)
Oh forgot to mention, when I first got my Hubsan H501S I was like a child and did not read the instructions fully. I started the drone and it started to take off by itself. I panicked and grabbed it. The result following that was 5 stitches to my hand and fingers with plenty of bruising. Dear me, they are so powerful the brushless motors. So, I think I will miss the hand launch and landing method lol. I will purchase the extended landing gear. Message to everyone there, Read the instructions fully before attempting to fly any RC!!!!
Ouch mate, I have grabbed a fair few quads in my time but always just wound up with scratches and total embarrassment! Yep true to read first but sooo exciting when you have the new toy and the weather ;-)))
I am only new to all the tech stuff so i could be wrong but I believe quad manufacturers always use higher current rated ESC's than the motors can draw. As they say, "amps are drawn and volts are pushed", so regardless of the C rating the motors will only draw the current they need from the well. Hence my question about the heat through the ESC's on a 3s as volts are "pushed" through the circuit. Please correct me if this is wrong.
yet another great video very entertaining crash, I've got my second bugs on order just for doing these bits of your witchcraft of yours,, can you give us details of he battery and the props you were using, I think ive seen the props but I wouldn't know how to get em. Thanks Alan
Oh I don't like toy label on it, but you are correct with the description. yep up there with Tarantula X6.....but please don't tell my X6 ;-) sensitive things these quads LOL
Thank you, the props are orange .....and i own a black marker pen......not let loose with it very often as everything winds up being Tigger stripes LOL
Great mods! I was thinking of going 3s with my bugs 3....do you think the Turnigy Bolt 2200mAh 3S 11.4V 65~130C High Voltage Lipoly Pack would be too strong? I like the sound of 65c but I don't want to burn anything out...many thanks!
TBH I don't know every time I get convinced one way the other doesn't seem much difference aaagh TBH I'm more interested in the control than speed, but may put a GPS on, that's not a promise just if I remember
No worries, cheap enough so have ordered both types and these prop nuts, www.ebay.com.au/itm/331903406146?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I hope there the right ones :-)
Hi Tigger! Love your videos! I got a quick question regarding the props for 3s (sorry if it was asked before...): You said some of the props require prop nuts- which of them? And does all of the props need the prop cup nut or just the ones that needs the prop nuts?
Bugs 3 can take loads of different props, my tri-props do. If it doesn't have a nut with the prop just add it ;-) I still prefer my Tri-props over all others on my Bugs 3 ;-)
Would love to get a go with one, going to have to go some to take over from my original Bugs 3...but I'd be happy with that, if I get one you know where it will get seen, right here, cheers
Love your vid's Tigger. I am new to the scene but your vids that you make for us all has got me buzzing for the hobby. I have already purchased the Hubsan H501S Advanced 2 months ago with a SKYRC iMAX B6AC balance charger and Eachine VR D2 FPV Goggles. just ordered the Bugs 3 from your link and going to order the 3 cell battery with some spare props. I am just curious about the PROP NUTS, I can see that you have them on your Bugs 3 with the 6045 but where can I get the nuts from to fit the BUg 3 prop shafts?
Hi Andy, sounds like you are enjoying the hobby like me :-) I have put link in description to the nuts, thanks for using my links i appreciate it and if you need any help just let me know, if I can help I always will, cheers have fun....oh you will ;-)
Thank you so much Tigger. I have ordered nearly everything on your list. Some are under restock but I have added them to my wish list and will get them when they are back in stock. I do absolutely love your vids that you have done, they have driven me with so much excitement that I cannot wait to get out and do some flying. (Weather permitting)The Hubsan H501S is great fun but also very tame to fly. I can see the Bugs 3 is going to take some practise before I put a 3s inside. I am not sure I could take that much power at first and my word, has it got some. I was amazed at the crash, you are so right, they just do not know when to give up. However, I will be careful and not take it for granted. P.S. Whilst ordering from BG, it has a section that you can leave a comment so I mentioned you gave me the links and info via your TH-cam page to their site because without you I would not have purchased them OR got into the hobby to begin with. Keep up the great work because people are out there like me, who do really appreciate everything you do. :-)
Thank you Andy, really do appreciate you taking the time with Banggood and commenting here. Enjoy the Bugs 3 it really is amazing for the money and can carry more than the Hubsan as well, so when you need gimbal, camera etc let me know. Where about are you based, if you know the channel you know I'm in Highlands of Scotland (UK). Hope the Bugs 3 is everything you are expecting, pretty sure it will be, enjoy and safe flying, thanks again :-)
I live in East Yorkshire so plenty of countryside to explore. There is a monthly RC club that meet in Beverley Westwood, which is a fantastic place to meet others and fly. I have put all of my batteries in storage until better weather comes around. I plan to purchase all of the things I need to be ready to go out and do some serious flying. I already have six Hubsan batteries, three 7.4v 2200 batteries for the googles, 4 batteries testers that you can attach to the quad.(they are brilliant), two lipos for my controller and cables etc. I also have the SJCAM SJ5000X camera, it is not as good as the GoPro but if I may purchase one in the not to distant future. Thank you for your help and advice. My next purchase is the gimbal. I will wait until my Bug 3 arrives and get uses to flying it before I purchase a G-2d gimbal and GoPro 4/5. I would hate to smash them into pieces lol. I do appreciate you replying and your advice. It makes all the difference. :-)
Lovely part of the world as you say. Wow you seem to have it all covered, great having an RC club to fly with. On the camera front I have never had a GoPro but I do love my Yi 4K's and find them easy to use and reliable also if they wind up gone or damaged they are not too expensive to replace. let me know how you get on with the bugs and you know where I am if you need any links or help, cheers
Latecomer to the drones scene and been lying JJRC drones until recently picking up a Bugs 3, wow! Awesome little drone. Am having a problem trying to find a mobile phone mount to mount my phone on the transmitter and wondered if any of you guys could recommend one that will fit. Love the reviews btw.
Amazing discovery, thank you so much. So with the bull nozed and tri-blade props do you believe the stability is the same as with stock battery and props? If so this is fantastic! Also how hot did the ESC's and motors get with the 3 cell? I didn't run mine for long on the 3s but it did seem to get warmer, do you believe this will pose any problems longevity wise? Again, thank you so much for an amazing review/discovery.
Yes had you, and another couple of followers that have been frustrated by Bugs 3, in mind as I flew...and it worked ;-) Stability, you saw it, seemed good to me. Don't know about ESC's didn't check but will keep an eye on them and let you know, they will get warm with 3s and racing around, lot of current going through them ;-) Longevity...who can tell, I'm still running my original Tarantula X6 with 3 original motors, but i have had failure with brushless as well, nothing here is forever, you just hope when something goes you are close to the ground and moving slowly ;-) now go and enjoy your Bugs 3 :-)
Windy and raining here on the east coast of Australia, after a string of days in the high 30's to 40 degrees, so no morning flight for me :-( Thanks for thinking of us and working this one out, it is much appreciated, your reviews are always intelligent, insightful, with a big dash of craziness, (I mean that in a good way!) Cheers
Sounds like what we get weather wise....apart from to days of 30-40 degrees ;-) I'm having so much fun with the channel and the community it brings, thanks for the comments, cheers
Nooooooooo, please keep tinkering on the bugs 3, fun to watch what you come up with. Speaking of which, has anyone taken a look at the aosenma cg035 fpv system: www.banggood.com/AOSENMA-CG035-RC-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-1080P-FPV-Set-p-1095072.html?rmmds=search It looks like the lcd screen mount would be a perfect fit for the bugs 3 Tx and is also white. The Tx mount bracket is the same shape as the b3 Tx antenna and has the locking clip for the whole in the back. I was excited when I came across this as a spare part option, 1080p camera and gimbal with lcd screen and mount which looks like a perfect fit for the bugs 3 Tx. Sadly the reviews on the gimbal and video quality are not stellar! I can't seem to find the screen mount sold separately anywhere!
Don't know about length of flight as I tend to either bat around or carry heavy load and don't have issue with flight length as I have loads of batteries from other quads. Don't think you will achieve 30 minutes, but good luck trying ;-)
Pleasure Alan, nope I have put most of my 2 and 3s on without a problem, I never put the box back now just a pain, as far as I am concerned, have fun :-)
A cell is a battery measurement. 1 cell is 3.7v(4.2v when fully charged) 2 = 7.4v etc just times the amount of cells by 3.7v and you have it ;-) The more cells you have the more power you get. Never go over what the manufacturers state for quad usage. Hope that helps
so 3 cell will be spec'd at 11.1v? like this: www.amazon.com/Floureon-Dean-Style-Connector-Helicopter-5-35x1-69x0-83/dp/B00L2V09VQ/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1508085953&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=1PCS+11.1V+3000mAh+upgrade+Battery
I just received my turnigy 3cell 3000 mah 20-30 c n boy was I pretty stoked😱 well I took it for a quick test n it went little crazy crashed n luckily only few props smashed. Anyways I took it inside to see n was hovering in my kitchen & it kinda did same little drop out that happen, but much faster outside???? Maybe gyro? I’m very new to all this, but with that said also my main question for you if you could be so kind to answer is, I noticed when hovering inside for about a min I set it down n the motors were hot n I think battery as well. Stock props. Any suggestions? It was to HOT for my liking so I discharged battery n put stock back on. Receiving my 2 s 3000 mah today excited for that . I wouldn’t of been so worried if it was for a flight of 6 min or so not hovering for a min . I love your bugs videos & the channel as a whole I subscribed of course. Your the man keep vids coming helps so much but thanks in advance for your time . Happy flying
Thank you for this video. I keep coming back to it for tips. I haven't yet braved the 3s world but I have been playing with 6045 props (both bullnose and tri-blade) on my Bugs. Do you think the smaller props have an adverse effect on battery run time? Are they better matched to the 3s batteries? Keep up the great work!
Glad it helps and you keep coming back :-) Not done tests with timings, I never usually fly the same twice so unless it was a drastic change I wouldn't know. Having spare batteries is the way to go, nothing more infuriating than waiting for a battery to charge when you could be in the air! You can fly 3s gentle and smooth....but it is fun giving it welly, give it a go and just use the power slowly at first, you soon get the hang of it. Thanks for the support and have a good flying weekend :-)
I'm presently shopping for good substitute 2s batteries. My initial thought was to go with 2200mAH ones for longer flight times but I read a discussion that suggests Graphene 950mAh instead since they are lighter. Do you have an opinion on this or are you now 3s all the way?
TBH I have a load of 2 and 3s batteries and just charged them up and flew them from 1500-3000mAh and Bug handled them all with no adverse effect, just go with what you fancy and the bug seems to just go with the flow. I don't have the 950 you mentioned. have fun :-)
After a quick comparison, it seems that the stock props are really best for flight duration when using the 2s battery. 6045 tri-props only gave me 4:30 of flight time. 6045 bull-nose 2-blade props gave about 5:00.
Helo, i just recieved my Bugs 3..And i want to upgrade it exacly how you did sir..What battery you juse, and also tripple blades? can you give me the link from Aliexpres please? Thanks by advance, keep doing the good job :)
Great video and info! The tri props can still do flips? I wasn't sure if the crash was from the props or possibly a double flip attempt. Can't wait to get mine in!
Don't think I tried it but damn sure it will flip on the button, the Bugs 3 will not manual flip, that's what caused the crash! Enjoy....oh you will ;-)
My problem is IO have done everything I wanted to with my bugs, I may run some more on the channel, when I get time, just for mind you ;-) thanks for the request, means you enjoy the channel
Tigger's RC Reviews Of course I enjoy your channel... you’re a wonderful soul, who brightens my day! Thank you for the consideration, in any event. Also... thank you for calling me friend... it means a lot to me! I consider you a friend as well... Hope I can express that, without getting too corny. ✨👍🏼 Ha Ha ✨😊✨
I know you are a great supporter of the channel and me, thanks :-) also thanks for going through the back catalogue still more around for you to enjoy, I hope have a great weekend. Nothing corny in your comments and I appreciate them, cheers :-)
***STOP PRESS*** Found a discount code for MJX RC Bugs 3 £72 ($90) use this one HYUE on this link BLACK goo.gl/T49UDQ or RED goo.gl/pM2LSw get in quick this is not going to last long ;-)
All they needed to do was add acro mode the bugs3 would have been insanely popular. It's a pretty versatile quad. I have modded mine with a lost alarm buzzer, FPV, and a 5dbi antenna to the transmitter. Plenty of range, very fun to fly. Just wish I had acro or even a 3rd rate mode with even higher rates.
ok, after having it for a while, what is your final verdict for best props for 3s? I will be doing mostly sport flying, but a bit of gopro footage here and there.
Still watching this a year on. For newcomers a Charsoon 2200 milliamperes 35c is brilliant. It's heavy, much better than the 1500 milliamperes, there a bit light. I've been flying mine for about a year now exclusively on 3s and triblades. Just one esc failure and that was after a prang the number of how many I've lost count. Bulletproof quad, fly mine every week.
No it doesn't, the quad is rated for 2 or 3s as stated by MJX. Mine is till fine and has been through a lot and keeps coming back for more, off out flying this weekend :-)
hoping all my different props and nuts from my destroyed X1 will work on this. tx went into calibration mode at 150 meters up and we know the rest of the story. Location is certainly an issue for range with the Bugs 3. Neighborhood wifi shot mine down and it broke. thank god I got 2. Great informative review as always.
They are standard M5 thread on motors and most props will fit ;-) Living here i have never even had a wiggle from interference and long may that last, more likely to get interference from bird strike TBH LOL Glad you enjoyed it more to come, cheers
Always great videos , you have helped me get into and learn the hobby a lot . ( choosing products etc ) I have bugs 3 and stock props seem the best for 2s , I just got the 6045 tri blades they jutter fairly bad for me on 2s . Yet to try on 3s . Ps manual flips are fairly easy on 2s stock props . Just gotta get the correct elevation angle and stick timing . Love my bugs ..
Thank you glad you enjoy the channel, glad you enjoy your Bugs as well, they are great for the money, look forward to seeing the video on the flips, have fun, cheers
Tigger great video...and thanks for sharing your findings on removing the judder using those bullnose and triblades.. I will buy a set of each now.. cheers again 😀👍
Pleasure mate, they make all the difference, don't know why they put the others on, heyho quad manufacturers, kinda guessing I will never understand them LOL
Maybe they got them really cheap from hubsan (or the company which produces them for hubsan) ;-). I think you can't blame MJX for props which work only at 2S, when they give you a well designed and versatile quad like this, at this price!
Oh yes I love it but all they had to do was specify to change props if you fly 3s or not even mention it can fly 3s and probably no one would have ever known. Fantastic quad for the money....even got my Tarantula X6 a little nervous, take a look at my early channel love affair with the X6:-)
Tigger's RC Reviews Yeah thats true, a small annotation in the instructions and everyone woud be pleased. Well, your fun with the Tarantula and watching you make these manual flips were another (small) reason I got the X6 one year ago ;-) (I guess I dont have to mention that I had a lot of fun with her, too ;-) )
Thank you for yet another very helpfull video on the bugs 3! And when I went through the links of your proposed props, "Reinforced Strengthen" sounded very good to me after my last crash with a bend propeller... ;-) (Although this quad is hard to crash under normal conditions)
Glad you are enjoying the channel and your Bugs 3, only thing with reinforced is they are not forgiving on contact with skin or anything soft, just be warned they wont stop or bend out the way. Always a trade off with everything we do. Cheers
Run 3s on the bugs made for 2s and you won’t have it for very long, did you see anywhere in specs that it can ? Experiment if you like,it’s your money but if you want to run 3s batteries on your drone get one that it was made for this voltage.
@@TiggersRCReviewsTTFN ..ok nice and good vid. But what kind of Battery do you use, pls, sir ? Give me a Link, so i can also buy one! thnk by advance ...
Great vids thanks for sharing!! You know what the next step is .. you got to set it up for FPV! Setting mine up at the mo just waiting for me goggles.. Taken the led light out and fixed a little Foxeer cam in there and vtx, will post a link if successful .. gonna try your 3 s discovery though, I noticed that if the stock props had the slightest kink in em from a crash this would cause oscillations..
Glad you enjoyed it :-) Yes may play with FPV sometime, good luck with yours. From my experience, you don't need any problem with the stock prop to have the judder on 3s ;-) Cheers
very nice flight sir. i wish i could fly again. my bugs 3 is on hard damaged, the 2motors is totaly burned, anyway im your fans here in Philippines. 🙂 i love bugs 3.
Well done That man, if anyone was gonna solve the ridle it had to be yourself bud, Makes a lot of sense realy,in all honesty the obvious place to start. just a shame that MJX didn't supply tha aditional props to cater with the 3S cell. well at least its lived up to their statement that it will run on them, problem is now, wev'e all got to spend money on those props "just ordered 3 sets" and of course for the likes of me that doesn't own any, some 3S batteries. Thanks Tiger, i think. :)
I love spending other peoples money, this is money well spent, for the price of quad, props and battery you can not beat what you get IMHO, enjoy mate...oh you will ;-)
Indubitably 😁 was out with mine earlier my 2200 mah2s tipped up this morning, stripped down flight amazing fun, had the mandatory crash, hardcore 😁 still fly's like a dream. Can't wait to join the wooooo hooooo club😍
Yeah 1st :-) I get all sorts of emotions when I fly....mostly fear at certain stages LOL That's twice with the big crashes, I hope there will not be another........Cheers
Oh crap! When the music came in I thought somebody was out there yelling at you! Haha...awesome modifications on that Bugs 3.
Yeah I was kinda nervous too LOL cheers :-)
Lmaooooo thats a fact I thought the same thing
I fly my bugs with 2s, its flying really nice and fast except for some reason when i try to lift it straight up/punch it into the air it doesnt seem to go up as fast or as smooth as it once did. Do you know why this could be?
interesting setup on that bugs! question for you, now that this video is a year old- any negative long term effects of using a 3S battery and non standard props- have you burned out any motors or esc's? I to like the smoothness of the tri blade 6045's, but the stock motors with a 2S battery really don't have the torque to accelerate and climb like the stock 2 blades.
Friends son flies it now with no ill effects. Bugs 3 was designed for 2 and 3s ;-)
Inu Sama Thanks for the reply. I have kept my TX batts fully charged every 4 flights (have 4 batts), so interesting about tx low voltage beeps.
Hi as you seem to be a bit of an expert on this Bugs 3 just wondered if you could give me the Benefit of your experience
I'm having great trouble trying to get mine to hover it seems to go up and down like a bloody yoyo now it might be down to my lack of flying experience but in one of your bugs 3 videos you comment on how well it holds altitude with very little Input from you. So I'm just wondering if I may have a fault with mine I've tried new props and calibrating the drone itself
But I Can't seem to get the remote control to go in to calibration mode to calibrate the sticks according to the manual I hold down the down trim button for 3 seconds and turn on the control which should give 3 beeps and flash the lights on the quad but this does not happen any ideas what the problem could be please
You can only use voltage that the manufacturer states, so in this case on Bugs 3 we can use 2 or 3s(cell) most toy grade quads can don't have this option ;-) Hope that helps, cheers
thanks a lot, great help oh wise one
LOL I just help when I can, cheers
Yep props are balanced, it is using 3s on stock props that causes the judder ;-)
Hi! nice video! can u please link the legs?
Have added it in description for you, thanks for asking and glad you enjoyed the vid :-)
Thanks again!
pleasure, have fun :-)
How about the low voltage beep im fairly new to lipo batteries since the bug 3 was mean to run 2s batteries when will it beep??
No beep on 3s it never goes low enough, you feel it on throttle response or get one of these goo.gl/RRcCNS . BTW the bugs 3 was made to run on 2 and 3s ;-)
which props are best for shooting stable videos with 2s battery ?
Stock are fine, but any will work well, it's there balance that's important ;-)
hmm you mean can you balance the props somehow?
cant wait mine, on delivery proses :D
You'll love it when you get it ;-)
Hi Tigger, I have a second Bugs now that I have been using exclusively on 3s with tri props as you recommended a while back.
Ciao e tutto di serie non si brucia niente con pila 3s?
excellent video...as usual!! so judder was killed by the 6045 tri blades right? what do you think of the 8045 3blades that Frequent Flyer used for a few seconds (before he crashed due to soldering problem) will they kill the judder as well and maybe flip the quad easier? thanks
Pretty sure 8045 will hit the man body, unless I'm missing something here :~) Cheers
i think he tried the 6045 and afterwards the 8045 for a few seconds but maybee your right...thanks anyway....i enjoy your videos so much!!!!!
Hope you have happy, safe, fun flying TTFN :-)
just got a bugs 3, what would be a good charger to get for the lipos where i can charge multiple batteries quicker than 3 hours a piece.
Good choice, get a couple of these goo.gl/V4WnCD or goo.gl/6FqvVj or goo.gl/EMszfL cheap charge in around an hour and simple to use ;-)
Tigger's RC Reviews ok thanks. Can you get leads so you can charge all the batteries from one charger at the same time?
You can but it is not a good way to do it, IMHO, get as many as you need of the cheap chargers 2-3s ones and then all batteries are ready in an hour ;-)
Thank you sir for showing and testing this, i want to order a 3s 3000 mah battery for this bugs 3, is that to much?
That's what I was using in the first flight of this video ;-)
Right yes indeed i skipped that somehow :) , i think i'll go for the 2200mah 3s is smaller and fits in the original battery holder
Saves weight so should give more fun ;-) Cheers
Thats the one i have gone for. I see another vidio, can't remember by whom however the 3S that he used must have been slightly too fat. All he did was loosen the screws to the battery housing and simply re tighten once fitted, hope this helps. :)
Thanks for the tip, nice video's Mark
Firstly, I'm also new to this hobby, well nearly 2 years now, but still loads to learn, asking questions is how we all learn and asking on the channel gives others a chance to help you as well, so ask away my friend, we have all been there or still to get there and sharing the hobby and what we love and loath is all a benfit IMHO OK that out the way lets get you answered :-)
Firstly why do you need a 3s battery to run G-2D gimbal, from memory it runs 2-5s, don't quote me on that but it sure runs 2 & 3s no problem. I prefer to fly my Bugs 3 on 2s fully loaded and get around 10 minute flight from stock battery, I did a video on it, if you haven't found it already ;-)
Yep extended landing gear, link in description, a must unless you are going to hand launch and land, risky but I did it a lot with my early quads, frighteningly good fun ;-)
3s battery for filming I wouldn't bother, that's just my view, filming IMHO should be slow and smooth 2s helps you achieve that ;-)
Whoa going way to deep for me there, I use balance charge cable to JST adaptor, sling it all underneath with elastic bands etc and fly, you get your answers a lot quicker and they are real no calculations needed :-)
Already answered your statement on not asking much, ask if I don't know the answer I will tell you and maybe someone else will and then we both learn a thing or two ;-)
Have fun, don't get bogged down with specs etc, if I had done that with everyone telling me the Tarantula X6 will burn motors out and can't carry 200g then I would never have got any further. BTW i got awesome video off my X6 and still fly it as a treat even now :-)))
WOW that was a really long answer, Ooops! have fun :-)
Yep true to read first but sooo exciting when you have the new toy and the weather ;-)))
mr tiger do u have problem so far my drone burn esc board 2 of them in right side
not with mine flew it yesterday on 2 and 3s no problems, but as with all these things can go at anytime ;-)
Fantastic! Have you tried a high C discharge battery?
No the highest I have is 35c, not sure the ESC's are up to it, if I had one it would have been on it ;-)
I am only new to all the tech stuff so i could be wrong but I believe quad manufacturers always use higher current rated ESC's than the motors can draw. As they say, "amps are drawn and volts are pushed", so regardless of the C rating the motors will only draw the current they need from the well. Hence my question about the heat through the ESC's on a 3s as volts are "pushed" through the circuit. Please correct me if this is wrong.
I see you have a link to a balance charge cable. Is this to power the walkera?
Yes that's correct ;-)
Thanks
With all that weight, can you still reach a high attitude or no?
yep as you can see in the video flies well ;-)
how long did it fly for on the 3 cell? also if you get a 2500mah 2 cell does that increase the flying time?
It varies depends on extra weight with camera/gimbal etc Yep 2500mAh will give longer flights ;-)
do your higher mah lipo give you early lvc? but yet can fly for another 50% more time?
yet another great video very entertaining crash, I've got my second bugs on order just for doing these bits of your witchcraft of yours,, can you give us details of he battery and the props you were using, I think ive seen the props but I wouldn't know how to get em. Thanks Alan
Hi Alan, glad you enjoyed it, links in description and will add batteries links later today, cheers and thanks for the support :-)
apart from you pro quad, would you say the bugs 3 is one of you favourite toy quads?
Oh I don't like toy label on it, but you are correct with the description. yep up there with Tarantula X6.....but please don't tell my X6 ;-) sensitive things these quads LOL
BIG THUMBS UP! The Leopard tri props look hot, do you have a link?
Thank you, the props are orange .....and i own a black marker pen......not let loose with it very often as everything winds up being Tigger stripes LOL
Ahhh... ok thanks much, I'll try it.
Which prop nuts did you buy? Clockwise or counter-clockwise?
You need both 2 of each ;-) link in description, if you need it, cheers
One of the motor of my bug 3 is loose ,it keep making vibration when i start pushing up my trottle but it still fly
Ouch, I would sort that, if not it will end in tears ;-)
Great mods! I was thinking of going 3s with my bugs 3....do you think the Turnigy Bolt 2200mAh 3S 11.4V 65~130C High Voltage Lipoly Pack would be too strong? I like the sound of 65c but I don't want to burn anything out...many thanks!
Whatndid you end up with did that high c lipo work?
Hey Tigger, great discovery, which props are better? Thanks in advance and for sharing.
Honestly cant decide as you see they both perform well, cheers and hope all good with you
one question ... the 3s battery is dangerous??
Ah brilliant, so happy there is a way to stop the horrible judder, so the tri blades are best would you say? Or the bull nosed ones?
Yes great news hmmmm :-) up to you with props really not sure myself, need to do more tests but either seem good to me
Tigger's RC Reviews I'm just happy as heck now it was something cheap to change hehe
Oh we like cheap and good ;-)
so which one was the fastest with out judder
TBH I don't know every time I get convinced one way the other doesn't seem much difference aaagh TBH I'm more interested in the control than speed, but may put a GPS on, that's not a promise just if I remember
you prefer that is props in 3s please
That's why I show them all in test, you decide because I like them both
Sorry, last question. In your opinion which props were better stability and performance wise?
Cheers again!
I can't choose between them ATM
No worries, cheap enough so have ordered both types and these prop nuts, www.ebay.com.au/itm/331903406146?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I hope there the right ones :-)
Yep there fine ;-)
3s is 11kv. Won’t it burn the board receiver?
No the Bugs 3 was built for 2 and 3s
Hello ! What's your feeling with 6045 triprop ? thanks
Tigger have you flown the bugs with the HUBSAN H501S props on?
Hi Barry, the Bugs 3 stock props are Hubsan H501s props :~)
Ok thanks Tigger.
I just tried my bugs with 5045 Cyclone tri blades and 3s battery. The judder got even worse than on stock 2blade props.
Hmmm never owned any Cyclone props, to my knowledge, so cant comment, sound like they could be unbalanced. My triblade setup is smooth ;-)
You did the Bugs 3 Mini, when will you be reviewing the Bugs 3 Pro? This one I will definitely pay full price!
Would love to get a go with one, going to have to go some to take over from my original Bugs 3...but I'd be happy with that, if I get one you know where it will get seen, right here, cheers
whats your flight time with the props and 3k battery?
So long ago, I can't remember, pretty sure I answered it when I did it, or will be in a video somewhere, sorry to be so vague
On the camera front I have never had a GoPro but I do love my Yi 4K's and find them easy to use and reliable also if they wind up gone or damaged they are not too expensive to replace. let me know how you get on with the bugs and you know where I am if you need any links or help, cheers
if i use 3s battery motors vibration dont know why
As I show here change the props cures the vibration, apparently to do with PID's set for 2s with stock battery
sorry meant "with stock props" ;-)
flight time?
Which cam is this?
Windy and raining here on the east coast of Australia, after a string of days in the high 30's to 40 degrees, so no morning flight for me :-( Thanks for thinking of us and working this one out, it is much appreciated, your reviews are always intelligent, insightful, with a big dash of craziness, (I mean that in a good way!)
Cheers
Sounds like what we get weather wise....apart from to days of 30-40 degrees ;-) I'm having so much fun with the channel and the community it brings, thanks for the comments, cheers
Does that mean you have got the tinkering with the bug out of your system?
Probably a rhetorical question :)
Yeah definitely.........well there is always FPV and other battery combo's......yeah all finished ;-)
Nooooooooo, please keep tinkering on the bugs 3, fun to watch what you come up with.
Speaking of which, has anyone taken a look at the aosenma cg035 fpv system: www.banggood.com/AOSENMA-CG035-RC-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-1080P-FPV-Set-p-1095072.html?rmmds=search
It looks like the lcd screen mount would be a perfect fit for the bugs 3 Tx and is also white.
What was your flight time on 3S? I'm trying to get mine upto 30 minutes of flight time, any suggestions? Is it even possible?
Don't know about length of flight as I tend to either bat around or carry heavy load and don't have issue with flight length as I have loads of batteries from other quads. Don't think you will achieve 30 minutes, but good luck trying ;-)
I'll try a few options and let you know if i get anywhere. Thanks for the info.
Yes please be interested in your results, cheers
what song?"0:55"
How about 3s on bugs 3 mini? It is work?
Not as far as i know, the bugs 3 mini was only designed for 2s, I wouldn't risk it
I wonder how the Bugs 2 will handle a 3s?
It's not rated for it, I wouldn't do it, it will end in tears ;-)
Does the Tri-Props need extra prop nuts?
Thanks in advance
Yes link in description ;-) any problems let me know
thanks
Awesome job with the no judder! Finally! Figured out what prop nuts for the 6045? Thanks
jrt82, Are you going to share your discovery of the prop nuts for the 6045?
Thanks, put link in description now but here it is as well goo.gl/sGmPiv cheers
so which props were the best?
I like the tri ones
Tigger's RC Reviews do you have a link?
Link in description ;-)
Thabnks for the info great stuff, any particular battery and I assume you remove the battery box. Thanks again.
Pleasure Alan, nope I have put most of my 2 and 3s on without a problem, I never put the box back now just a pain, as far as I am concerned, have fun :-)
I'm seeing 2 cell and 3 cell everywhere. What is the actual difference
Tigger's RC Reviews yeah it does help, thanks
so 3 cell will be spec'd at 11.1v? like this: www.amazon.com/Floureon-Dean-Style-Connector-Helicopter-5-35x1-69x0-83/dp/B00L2V09VQ/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1508085953&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=1PCS+11.1V+3000mAh+upgrade+Battery
Yep I usually stick with stock props on 2s and change to others when flying 3s, thanks for the test results have a good weekend
Helo, i just recieved my Bugs 3..And i want to upgrade it exacly how you did sir..What battery you juse, and also tripple blades? can you give me the link from Aliexpres please? Thanks by advance, keep doing the good job :)
Bugs, that accent and a down do earth soul, what more can I ask for?!
Thanks glad you enjoy the channel :-)
Best props for 2s battery?
Stock ones for me ATM, but still testing ;-)
Great video and info! The tri props can still do flips? I wasn't sure if the crash was from the props or possibly a double flip attempt. Can't wait to get mine in!
Don't think I tried it but damn sure it will flip on the button, the Bugs 3 will not manual flip, that's what caused the crash! Enjoy....oh you will ;-)
what prop should i buy for no judder will it work with gimbal?
Thought I showed it in the video :~) on 2s stock props are fine tri-props or bull-nose for 3s links are in description to the ones I use
Decided to post my request over here on this Bugs 3 video. Please do more Bugs 3 content for the Bugs 3 flying crew. Thank you!
I feel the urge to try some turned down 9045 props on the Bugs 3 ;-)
oooooh Let me know how it goes :-)
***STOP PRESS*** Found a discount code for MJX RC Bugs 3 £72 ($90) use this one HYUE on this link BLACK goo.gl/T49UDQ or RED goo.gl/pM2LSw get in quick this is not going to last long ;-)
Glad you are enjoying the channel, thanks for the heads up on changes and most of all have fun with the Bugs...oh you will ;-)
you got to pass that on to frequent flyer
Just done it, thanks :-)
All they needed to do was add acro mode the bugs3 would have been insanely popular. It's a pretty versatile quad. I have modded mine with a lost alarm buzzer, FPV, and a 5dbi antenna to the transmitter. Plenty of range, very fun to fly. Just wish I had acro or even a 3rd rate mode with even higher rates.
Nice versatile quad and yes acro would be great :-) Have fun...oh you already are ;-)
ok, after having it for a while, what is your final verdict for best props for 3s? I will be doing mostly sport flying, but a bit of gopro footage here and there.
Still watching this a year on. For newcomers a Charsoon 2200 milliamperes 35c is brilliant. It's heavy, much better than the 1500 milliamperes, there a bit light. I've been flying mine for about a year now exclusively on 3s and triblades. Just one esc failure and that was after a prang the number of how many I've lost count. Bulletproof quad, fly mine every week.
Hi Alan, glad you still enjoy it, thanks for sharing the info, Hope you have a good Easter, cheers
Tigger's RC Reviews is that your h on ebay?
Not yet I must sell my spare one, I've never used it, damn Yuneec I didn't need a spare, I'm not complaining really LOL cheers pal
Nice.... I noticed this also with my bugs.....it drops out super fast on 3s. Great test and what a trippy spot!
Yes keeps your attention with 3s for sure :-)
No it doesn't, the quad is rated for 2 or 3s as stated by MJX. Mine is till fine and has been through a lot and keeps coming back for more, off out flying this weekend :-)
How long have u been using 3s tigger?
Great mod Tigger this quad looks really fun. I use that same battery in the CX20 and they work well.
Cheers Steve, must sort frame for CX-20, you just reminded me ;-)
hoping all my different props and nuts from my destroyed X1 will work on this. tx went into calibration mode at 150 meters up and we know the rest of the story.
( choosing products etc )
I have bugs 3 and stock props seem the best for 2s , I just got the 6045 tri blades they jutter fairly bad for me on 2s .
Hallelujah indeed. Good for you sticking at it and when mine arrives I can upgrade just as you have. Thanks again. :)
Pleasure and yes Hallelujah :-)))
Wow that's actually beautiful footage
waw ur sooo lucky an arm didnt break like mine. mine dropped on an angle. it looks like urs dropped flat
Yes after two massive speed crashes I'm amazed it isn't in several piece, those bugs are difficult to squash ;-) Hope you get yours sorted
i took mine apart and kept the parts for spares then bought the red version 🖒
Good on you, when you have spares you will never need them, well we hope so, have fun ;-)
Well, your fun with the Tarantula and watching you make these manual flips were another (small) reason I got the X6 one year ago ;-) (I guess I dont have to mention that I had a lot of fun with her, too ;-) )
Kool mate and thanks for supporting the channel since X6 days :-)
Bugs 3 was built for 2 and 3s, check out my other videos, I deal with MJX RC and it was them that stated it was capable. Cheers and happy flying :-)
Just flew my bugs on 3s holycrap how awesome had some slight judder when turning im using dal tri 6040s tho
Yep nice power and fun, no idea why props don't work, swap them and or check for balance if you can, they work awesome when it is set up right ;-)
very nice flight sir. i wish i could fly again. my bugs 3 is on hard damaged, the 2motors is totaly burned, anyway im your fans here in Philippines.
I love spending other peoples money, this is money well spent, for the price of quad, props and battery you can not beat what you get IMHO, enjoy mate...oh you will ;-)
Yip, your right of course, just ordered myself 3x3S, looks like i will be joining the club soon i hope. :)
That's the WooooHoooo club you are talking of I suppose ;-)
Indubitably 😁 was out with mine earlier my 2200 mah2s tipped up this morning, stripped down flight amazing fun, had the mandatory crash, hardcore 😁 still fly's like a dream. Can't wait to join the wooooo hooooo club😍
Ah sounds like you are the new sort of member we are after, welcome to the club my friend, great fun awaits you :-)))
Well done!! Excellent discovery, thanks for pushing the envelope!
Thanks :-) Pleasure, me and pushing it have always been close LOL
1st
nice music and video I got a little emotional as you flew over the roof 😂
how did you get away with that crash, great music again 😀😀😀
Yeah 1st :-) I get all sorts of emotions when I fly....mostly fear at certain stages LOL That's twice with the big crashes, I hope there will not be another........Cheers
her sound and her speed just like devil ;) ... devil of queen ?? hahah
so the Tigger-flavoured props did the trick? 😁😁
you just cracked me up with the flips... you must have given your mother fits when you were young, huh
I would say what was I thinking...but I have nothing in defense, I even talked it through with you all and still did it!!! LOL cheers mate
Tigger's in love .. me thinks.
Oh yes....keep it to yourself i don't think it's that obvious ;-)
