I’m here researching as my son will be 5 this year. I breastfed until 4 months before his 4th birthday. Freemie cups and Spectra 9 helped me go back to work after 4 months and business travel. The original willow pump didn’t work so well for me, it was loud and it pinched as the largest flange was still a bit of a tight fit. I did have a Spectra plug in but really depended on the S9 . I will be binge watching these as soo much has changed over the years and we’re expecting this Fall. Thanks for the content!
I am a mother who works from home and I have three types of pumps: 1) Avent manual pump. 2) Lansinoh medical grade Electric Pump. 3) Elvie Stride hands-free pump. All three work wonders for me.
As a mother of one toddler and expecting my second in weeks, might I suggest that instead of grouping moms into “working mom” and “stay at home mom”, you group them by their needs? For example, every thing you said a working mom needs is what I need as a stay at home yet work from home mom, and vice versa. I find that at work, because I can schedule my pumping time at a desk and have privacy away from coworkers, a plug in the wall pump works best ( I personally wouldn't want to pump in front of colleagues cause as “discreet” as we think it looks, it isn't but I digress.) At home, that’s where I feel I need the flexibility to be away from a wall! I’m juggling a toddler with a baby, I have to make lunch while pumping, I have to tend to the household needs and can’t just sit for a long session. Anyway, you get it 😊. Just my two cents of how to define the needs by people’s realities and style of life instead of what we generally associate with what the life of someone who works vs someone who is at home looks like 👍🏽
Sure but i'm a working mom and might want her services yet my needs are the opposite of what she's describing. That was my point that she's making assumptions of what moms needs based on whether they work or stay at home vs how they function at work or at home @@MiVidaBellisima
I think you misunderstood. I think it is not about flexibility and moving around. It is about whether you have access to your child to feed them during the day or not. Stay at home moms don’t need to pump what baby eats. They pump for the freezer and for convenience. (Which is totally legit and important) they pump the extra on top of feedings. Working moms need to pump what baby eats during the day. They need a stronger more durable pump. My elvie stride died before my son’t 2nd birthday. I’m a working mom. I pump 4 times a day about 1.5 half (power pump) Do you see the difference ? And no, working moms can’t just shut an office door and stay plugged in. I have an office, but if I close the door, I get a bad performance review and they ding my bonus.
I didn't misunderstand. I'm a working mom but I work from home so you see how quickly my needs are misrepresented by these labels? I'm not the only one in this position. We all have a different story and different lifestyle, hence my recommendation. Lastly, if you live in the U.S. and you get a bad performance review for closing your office door to pump 1. That's ILLEGAL and 2. You should find a workplace that values you. @@0Tigrincs0
I have the Spectra 1. It is an amazing pump. We have loadshedding in South Africa which means our electriciy is turned of for intervals of 2 and a half to 4 and a half hours at a time. Sometimes 11 and a half hours without electricity in one day so the rechargeable battery is a must. I came here for the handsfree recommendations. 😀
Hi first of all I love your videos! I am a working mom of a two year old and I’m still pumping at work 5 days a week and nursing at home. Even though I’m feeling very comfortable with my nursing/pumping routine I love watching and learning from your videos. Could you do a video on nursing with a toddler and also nursing a toddler and a new baby? Thank you
Love my motif luna w/ battery! Looking for a wearable pump for back to work. I really like the idea of Willow Go, however, I’ve heard it needs to be cleaned and completely dry before next session or it won’t work right.. that might be hard to achieve at work!
I've been binge watching your videos and have found them very interesting and helpful! Do you have any videos on how to build milk supply when you don't have enough to satisfy your baby?
@@NewLittleLife At this point I'm mostly pumping and trying to transition to nursing more. Was having a really hard time getting her to latch well and gain and that's why I started pumping. Thankfully she's above her birth weight and also latching much better now but doesn't ever seem satisfied after just nursing. I also had supply issues with my previous 4 babies and just supplemented with formula. Because of the formula shortage I'm wanting to do everything I can to boost my supply instead of supplementing .
@@daisykate1915I had a similar issue. Get an appointment to a knowledgeable lactation specialist. My son had a tongue tie and that prevented him to nurse effectively. After that was resolved, a couple weeks of learning and suddenly it clicked for him and started nursing very well. I have not had any supply issues ever since. Going strong 2 years now. No pump will help you if baby is not good at nursing. After baby starts nursing well, pump after every nursing. Your supply will come back and you can ditch the formula.
Allison you are absolutely right. I purchased the Imani June 1, I received it on June 4. I’ve used it 3 times and the last 2 times I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t getting any suction. The suction is completely out.
I’d add the Legendairy duette to the list over the madela too along with the pumpables. I really think it’s a great little pump and I’m obsessed with the duel motor feature.
Thank you for this video, I have a Spectra s1plus that i will be using as my "main squeeze" but i am expecting twins and really think i am going to need/want to be able to be (affordably) portable from time to time and i was considering the Zomee Z2 with the collection cups. I am not new to pumping i exclusively pumped the first 3 months after my son and then mixed pumping and nursing once he got the hang of it until a year(almost 5 years ago) and i just remember being so confined to an outlet. Do you plan on doing a review on the Zomee Z2 or maybe i missed where you already have done one? I would love to know what you think of using this pump for twin moms as a secondary pump. Thanks :)
Do you think Willow Go is more simple than the Willow 3.0? I had the 3.0 and while I liked it, I had to trouble shoot with it a lot. Like every other session. It just proved to be unreliable in that respect. I really want to try the Go but I’m hesitant for that reason.
I have the imani 2. Pro: you can wash it in the dishwasher. Con: it hurts me because the 25 mm insert a bit too big It can leak a lot if you move around. I tried to detail cars in it and that’s a no go. Not good as a main pump for me. Mainly because of no timing. I had to order the cup part again because it broke and them once because someone accidentally put it to the bottom of the dishwasher instead of the top. (Not the pump’s fault)
I’ve only heard bad things about Elvie! If money ain’t a problem, which hands free pump do you recommend?? I keep hearing the input in much lower than pumps like spectra
Hi Allison, i was wondering if you could do a video on the Jevon baby pump. It pumps directly to storage bags which sounds super cool to be but it's so expensive. Many thanks! ❤
Yes, me too! I've been having trouble with getting a letdown with my electric pump, because I really hate the noise it makes, so I've been wondering if a manual pump might be a better fit for me
Are the wearable pumps and portable pumps comparably the same thing when it comes to emptying the breast? I’m trying to determine if I should go with a wearable or portable pump for going back to work. And determine which one will be as close to pumping with my spectra as possible.
No they’re pretty different. Have you watched the breast pumps for working moms webinar? It may answer some of these questions for you! www.newlittlelifelessons.com/pl/2147586053
I am a stay at home mom I have a toddler and a baby on the way but I’m not always able to sit and pump. I do have large breast idk if that a big deal or anything. What do you recommend?
I don’t know if you go back and read comments on old posts but I’m having a hard time selecting a breast pump. I will be going back to work after I have the baby, so it’ll be used often. I am an F cup right now, and can only imagine how much bigger I’m going to get. I can’t find a pumping bra that will fit and be supportive that I could wear to work, so I was thinking the Elvis stride to put in my bra. But after hearing some reviews I don’t know if that would be a good one. This is my second child but my daughter is about to turn 18 so its been so long I feel like I remember nothing. HELP!
I think you’ll need something a bit more reliable that the elvie stride! This webinar on the Best Breast Pumps for Working Moms goes more I depth and may answer your questions! www.newlittlelifelessons.com/pl/2147586053
My motif was only 35 for the upgrade. Glad I did that because I am needing to Eping. 😩 In the past, I also bought a s1 from a bargain outlet and it seemed to stop working well while double pumping after a while. So definitely afraid to get a new one. But my other s2s have been fine.
