What a smart layout to this review! Everyone's needs and priorities are different and unique, so this is much more helpful than regular, generic reviews!
Just got the Spectra Synergy Gold Portable!! Couldn’t pass up the coverage from insurance and we discovered HSA funds we didn’t know we had so I splurged. This review makes me so excited to get it considering all of the benefits to it!
Baby Buddha is my absolute favorite! I love the long pull !! I have it hacked with medela connectors or spectra connectors & I use lackteck flanges with beaugen cushions inside them. I haven’t tried the pumpables genie portable , I’m ordering the pumpable genie big pump tomorrow to have as a night stand pump. We will see if I like it. I have owned most of these pumps btw.
I watched this video multiple times before deciding to buy the Pumpables Genie Advanced to use as my work pump. Thank you so so much for this video! I 100% trust your opinion and have faith that I've made a purchase that I will be very happy with. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us!
For my ameda mya joy, I took out the tubes bc I couldn't stand the flanges. They got stuck all the time. I had the tubes of medela pump from the hospital so I put them on there and the suction was 100x better
I love medela personal fit flex flanges! I didn’t know you could switch them out with the Alexa. I couldn’t find anything online with information about how to hack medela to fit ameda
Can you also make a video on all the different nipple shields and which ones you’ve used and which ones you like and recommend ? I can’t seem to find any videos on this .
Thinking about getting the medela freestyle flex based on this video and the fact that I have the medela hand pump, so I would have some interchangeable parts. I bought the mom cozy wearable pump and it is basically useless :( not nearly enough suction without a traditional flange, so I only get 50% or less of my typical output.
Thank you for this video! I am 14 weeks pregnant and man there are so many pump options and it's overwhelming! I'm curious if this list has changed much since you made this video. If so, can you make an updated version of this video? If not, I'm strongly considering the Medela Flex! I'm starting as a new grad nurse in January, so it seems like the most reliable, portable option for me as a soon to be working mom. Thanks again for your great reviews!
There are some new pumps out now, and a few we’ve learned more about.. genie advanced is still my favorite :) as a nurse you need a nice one and a small one is even better!
I own the medela pump in style and freemie pumps but am looking for something portable that has good suction so thank you for the awesome video! It’s hard to find someone giving honest comparisons.
The only thing I don't love about this video is that you don't repeat pump names. For us newbies it's hard to remember which is which and sometimes you skip the name of the pump so we have to go back to the beginning. Great review of many pumps though.
I used Bella baby pump for 9 months exclusive pumping. I tried amenda mya during that and it didn’t empty me as well and my original pump which was lansinoh didn’t empty me as well either. I have elastic nipples so I needed something stronger and also a low supplier. The pump was cheap which was nice. My only complaints was that you had to set it down so yes portable but not entirely hands free and also the screen was super touchy so if you’re carrying it around or bump it at all you can go from comfortable suction to ripping nipples suction. I’m pregnant again and preparing for breastfeeding and pumping. With all of this said I think I’m going to get the spectra synergy with my insurance, have Bella baby as a back up, and looking into the pumpables genie advance since my toddler will only be 18months when #2 comes, I need something that is actually hands free, adjustable speeds and suction with elastic nipples. This video was definitely helpful and hopefully my input will be too!
Wow! The pumpables genie advanced was not on my radar, but it may influence which pump I choose to splurge on, through insurance. Tricare basically contributes a (pretty generous) flat rate toward a single pump, so I'm figuring out all the inexpensive pumps I want, so I know what gaps I most need to fill with my expensive pump, since that's the one I'll have insurance pay for. If I have a solid portable option I can trust, I might feel more confident going for the Spectra SG Gold.
When you talk about Ameda Mya, would you rate Ameda Mya Joy similarly? It’s one of the options covered by my insurance and I was trying to compare it to the Motif Duo so that I may have a portable pump for free and I’ll buy a different pump as my base pump for home.
Hello - first time mom here and your videos are SO helpful! I am looking for a pump that doesn't tie me down to a wall but is strong enough to function as my only pump. Which pumps do you think can handle the load of being my sole pump while still being portable? Thank you in advance for any advice!
I am wanting to know the same. I have a spectra s1 but I want to get rid of it and use either pumpinpals or baby buddha as my main and only pump when I come from the hospital. Which one do you think would be my best bet out of those 2?
@@johannadavila2309 I ended up going with the Motif Luna with battery as an upgrade through my insurance. The blue spectra S1 was my second choice but it cost more to upgrade that one through insurance.
Wonderful comparison video, thank you! Question: I'm thinking about getting the Spectra SG Portable and thinking about wearing it in a fanny pack. Do you think this is a doable option?
This is so helpful! I’m going back to work and would like to potentially pump while seeing patients if needed. I’d love a list showing loudest to quietest. Up next is the auction video! How could I not?!

Pumpables Genie Advance 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I tried the Motif Duo the suction was to weak. Ameda Mya and Ameda Joy weaker than Motif Duo. The Baby Buddha suction was toooooooo strong!/ expression mode did not give me a good let down. Genie advance just right !
You mentioned the freemie cups are bad, but if you use it with an regular flange or another cup, you can get great suction. How exactly do you use a different flange. Where can I get a regular flange or different cup?
Amazon carries flanges, local stores may as well. There’s a list of cups and supplies on our website if that makes it easier! Www.Newlittlelife.Com/coupons
I ordered the new Medela Swing Maxi pump with my insurance just wondering if you had an opportunity to check that one out yet.. I'm interested to know how this compares to the others in this video. Also Freemie has the new Rose pump with slim fit cups and the Elvie Stride. If you tested those id be really eager to watch that!
I ended up purchasing the Pumpables Genie Advanced after watching your video and reading all the reviews on their website and thought I was going to love it but unfortunately I hate it. It's really strong and I can't get past number 1 :/ it's even now starting to affect my milk supply and cause sore nipples too. I contacted the company and let them know about all the issues that I was having and they basically said they can't do anything for me and won't return my money :( . I'm so upset because now I'm stuck with a pump I can't use. If you use a spectra and really like that type of suction then don't get the pumpables breast pump it's definitely a lot stronger.
Are you using the liquid shield kit or came with? Maybe it’s the flanges bothering you not the pump? Maybe try some pumping lubricant like a spray or coconut oil? Just an idea! It goes pretty low in suction level so that surprises me.
Include these with comparison to wearable pumps too! I want to know if the wearable pumps even compare to a baby budha, the medela, etc. on regular flanges. And how these portable pumps do when you use the best cups (like Legendary), if they are still as good? Thanks!
In 2022, I used the motif luna and it worked really well. My first baby was only breastfed and i only pumled to build a freezer stash. Im currently pregnany and conaidering a portable. Is it harmful to my supply if I use a really strong suction if I'll be nursing?
I honestly never thought to use my CaraCups with the Freemie Liberty when it didn’t go well with the regular Freemie cups. I honestly thought the issue was the pump itself until you said it might actually be the cups that are the issue for it.
@@NewLittleLife I actually still have it so I might charge it and give it a try this time. I’m still trying to find a combination that will work best at work because of my job.
I'm sad that Milkbar breast pump didn't make the cut 😅 It's a New Zealand brand and it's such a brilliant pump! I used the Medela for my first baby and using Milkbar pump for this baby. I'd highly recommend it!
Amazing video. Thank you so much for your efforts. One last question: between Medela pump I style with max flow and Motif Duo, which one to choose? Both covered by my insurance. Thank you for your response
@@NewLittleLife thank you Allison for your response, you are very helpful and I really appreciate it. Now I'm sure I'm not getting Medela, I called Aeroflow to buy Motif duo and they made it hard for me to decide again, they said we have Spectra S9 but we are now showing it in the website because we have a limited quantity and it is a good pump. What do you think? I didn't find many reviews about it and you said that it is a strong one but you don't like it. Can you please help? Thank you!
This video was so helpful! I'm trying to decide between Freemie and Spectra portables. Any additional thoughts for deciding between those two? First time mom expecting next month and clueless about pumping.
I own the spectra synergy gold, I typically use stimulation mode vacuum level 2 and expression mode vacuum level 6-9. Would the baby Buddha be too much for me with those specs?
Trying to conceive now and I know I won’t be needing this just yet. But I would like to be prepared as eventually I would be a first time mommy 🤣. I’m happy you love the baby Buddha. Thank you for the videos!
could you do a video on the baby Buddha with each of the handsfree collection cups that you have? like the freemie cups vs. the caracups vs. the legendairy cups
@@NewLittleLife which cups work the best with baby Buddha, really which ones have the most suction power with it. My freemie’s seemed to be so weak with my spectra, but I’m going to be using a baby Buddha this time around while I’m home and I don’t want to waste money buying all the different kinds just to try out! I saw your video comparing three, so I’m very tempted to go with caracups or legendairy this time around
the medela freestyle flex one sucked. I got a great milk supply from it, but the functionality of it just sucks. The touch screen is super sensitive (you can't put it in yr pocket or bra while walking around, for example, you have to hold it or it clicks randomly) and i've had two already because they keep breaking! Thankfully the store I bought it from keeps refunding me/replacing it. I've opted for a much cheaper one now though. DO NOT RECOMMEND FREESTYLE FLEX.
Unfortunately at the end you don't mention the name of the pump you personally rank highest. Is it the pumpables genie advanced? Thanks for this video!!
Can you please try out the new Ameda Mya Joy ? This is the new pump that blue cross is provided for there mamas so I would love a review and demo on that pump since it’s the one I have and there aren’t many videos on it
Honestly, it’s fine! If you e never tried another pump and aren’t too picky, it’s likely good enough. Might as well give it a shot for free! Especially until you know how much (if any) you’ll be pumping. That’s just my 2 cents!
If insurance pays for Baby Buddha, Spectra S9, Freemie, Elvie Stride, which one would you suggest most? I am a super busy mom to 5 girls, my oldest is 6 and baby is 2.5 weeks. I exclusively breastfed my 4 then new baby comes and we are struggling. So I’m pumping every 2 hours and breastfeeding. And I’m always on the go so I need something really good. I also have a spectra S2 but I can’t deal with being stuck. I have the legendairy cups also. Please help a mama decide because this mama is very indecisive person.
Which one did you pick? I have the same issue as you with a baby and other little ones running around. I, too, am on the go a lot because of the kiddos.
I'm considering the same ones, minus the Freemie, but adding in the Spectra S1 (or is it 2?...the blue one lol). I'd love to see a comparison of these.
I can’t decide between the SG portable or the Pumpables! Sounds like the genie advanced is the fave and cheaper but maybe I’m torn bc I loved my S1 so much and the packaging. Baby due in a few weeks and I can’t decide! 😫😫😫
I respond to the Super genie but don’t respond to the Genie advance. Was sure excited to use it with my stride cups so I could be more active with my kids.😢
I wanna know which one is the quietest though Hi, I’m a new subscriber since I’m a new pumping momma 😂 I wanna buy a third pump, because I don’t seem to get contented with my pumps, I’m looking for more ease of use
I'm more confused than ever now :( Seems like you liked spectra 9 but ranked both low and don't love baby buddha but ranked high. I'm used to the Spectra 1 - what would be a good secondary portable pump for baby #2? Taking my Spectra 1 to work was a chore! On my Spectra I could go to level 7 at first but further into my pumping journey level 3/4 was more comfortable.
HI Allison! I LOVE your videos and I also love talking about breast pumps - obviously, I would love to touch base with you! I like the pumpables too - they sent me a sample and I think both of their pumps are super....They are pending FDA approval - which is not necessary to have for mom's to buy them for retail - but I have to wait to be able to provide them through insurance for the moms ( I want to be the first DME to do so!) - which I am hoping for the fall - I am in a lot of communication with them. Great job on the video - you are so knowledgeable and clearly love talking about this stuff like me. Will use your video to train my staff! ;) -Patty
Hi, Thanks for all your reviews and videos. I'm a first time and stay at home mom. Still undecided between Pumpables Genie Advanced and Medela Freestyle Flex. Would you be able to help me decide which one is better and most recommended for a first time mom? Thank you in advance! ☺️
Thanks for this video and the "All About Suction" video. They're definitely the most comprehensive breast pump videos on TH-cam. Could you make a video for beginners sometime? Some basics that would be really helpful to see all in one place are: If you plan to pump a lot is it likely that you can use a portable pump as your only pump? Which pumps have dual motors and is that necessary if you plan to pump on both breasts at the same time? Are you likely to run out of battery frequently with a portable pump? What about if you pump on both breasts at the same time? If you hope to pump on both breasts will the reduced suction of a portable pump possible lead to reduced supply? You review a lot of portable pumps on your channel. I'm just trying to ascertain what the best use is for these.
Hi, I love your videos. I just can’t decide. I need serious help. I am debating in between spectra S1 and ameda mya or if there is another portable one that’s best.
So I was leaning towards the freemie set up but you said something about the cops have a bad reputation I was curious what that is before I purchase it
Hi!, can you make a part 2 updated version on this video? Please? Its been about 2 years and im sure you followers would absolutely love an update review.
Haha yes it’s on the list 🙈 every time I try to make an update more pumps come out! Seriously, it’s never ending. What other pumps are you interested in seeing here?
@NewLittleLife Hi there, I think we want your honest opinion. You are well respected, and for me, I really value your opinion. I've had sucess with Spectra s2 and im looking for a portable. I'm stuck between the portable spectra and freemie.. heard that's some pumps lower your milk supply. Right now, I'm pumping about 43 oz of milk in 24 hours
With a well established supply, you can get away with a lot! Still my favorite portable pump is the genie advanced, especially if you’ve done well with the spectra previously.
I do need to update this huh! Pumps just keep coming at such a rapid rate 😅 it’s hard to keep up Zomee for me is somewhere in the middle. It’s a nice pump and definitely better than some of these options!
I was about to buy the ameda joy since i do have the kits from the ameda platinum the hospital pump. Now i'm convinced to buy the genie advanced. Is it compatible with ameda parts? Please help. Thanks
This is so great! Exactly what i needed. Can you share why you have mixed feelings about the spectra S9? I have the S2 but need a more portable option but keep debating between the Freemie and the S9. Thank you!
@@diaryofachubbymomma9989 i went with the S9. It's a great pump. I love that it's back lit, has a timer and a screen to see your settings, and has good suction. Biggest downside is that it's pretty loud and i don't love the massage mode but its still good and gets me to have 2-3 let downs in 30 min. It also doesn't have a clip or lanyard so i bought a clear fanny pack to put it in so i can wear it around the house and don't have to remove it to see the buttons. I've watched more of Allison's videos and the freemie is one of the quietest pumps if not THE quietest which would of been really nice. I haven't heard great things about the freemie cups tho ... i bought the legendairy collection cups once they came in stock because of a review by Allison. I use them with my S9 and I LOVE them!! The extra spectra pump parts have been nice to have but now i mainly use the collection cups so i think i would of liked a quieter pump at the end of the day. Also getting the collection cups has been a game changer. Maybe the freemie cups will work great for you. It's worth a shot and if you don't like them you can always order different ones later down the road.
Can you help me pick a pump? I currently have the spectra S1 and I love it! I use the let down & then 54 cycle & 9-12 vacuum. I need a strong suction. I tried the freemie and it didn’t work for me, but I do use the cups with my spectra currently & I would love to ditch the tubing is there anything you recommend?

Now I'm sure I'm not getting Medela, I called Aeroflow to buy Motif duo and they made it hard for me to decide again, they said we have Spectra S9 but we are now showing it in the website because we have a limited quantity and it is a good pump.
What do you think?
I didn't find many reviews about it and you said that it is a strong one but you don't like it.
Can you please help?
Thank you!
Awesome video to help navigate this overwhelming chooses of Pumps, Thank you!
My favorite is the Baby Buddha 👍🏽
This video was so helpful! I'm trying to decide between Freemie and Spectra portables. Any additional thoughts for deciding between those two? First time mom expecting next month and clueless about pumping.
What did you get eventually? What worked or didn’t for you TIA 🙏🏽💟
Where would you rate the Elvie stride in this?
Where would you place the Zomee Z2 based off your opinions/favorites?
I own the spectra synergy gold, I typically use stimulation mode vacuum level 2 and expression mode vacuum level 6-9. Would the baby Buddha be too much for me with those specs?
The pumpables wasn’t working well to empty me but I’m wondering if it’s because I did the hack to be able to use my spectra flanges
I love this video, it’s probably my favorite of new little life! I wonder how Stride would fare in this line up along with Unimom opera 😀
What do you want to know about them?
@@NewLittleLife which cups work the best with baby Buddha, really which ones have the most suction power with it. My freemie’s seemed to be so weak with my spectra, but I’m going to be using a baby Buddha this time around while I’m home and I don’t want to waste money buying all the different kinds just to try out! I saw your video comparing three, so I’m very tempted to go with caracups or legendairy this time around
Yes either the caracups or the Legendairy milk ones both had MUCH better suction that the freemie cups! Either one would be just fine.
I’m deciding between Baby Buddha and pumpable advanced genie
What are your favorite nursing clothes brands? I think that's an LM top in this video love those too
the medela freestyle flex one sucked.
Thanks for your feedback! I agree the touch screen is quite sensitive.
If I want to use collection cups, will the pumpables genie advanced or baby Buddha be a better option?
To make it easier for everyone the baby Buddha is the strongest 💪 ❤ in suction
From this video, I’m Debating between the Medela, the freemie, and the spectra.
Interesting! What draws you to those options?
Unfortunately at the end you don't mention the name of the pump you personally rank highest. Is it the pumpables genie advanced? Thanks for this video!!
Yes! pumpables.co/products/genie-advanced?ref=NEWLITTLELIFE
Can you please try out the new Ameda Mya Joy ? This is the new pump that blue cross is provided for there mamas so I would love a review and demo on that pump since it’s the one I have and there aren’t many videos on it
Yes! My insurance will provide the Ameda Mya Joy only… and I’m on the fence about if I even want to try it or just go with buying what I really want!
Honestly, it’s fine! If you e never tried another pump and aren’t too picky, it’s likely good enough. Might as well give it a shot for free! Especially until you know how much (if any) you’ll be pumping. That’s just my 2 cents!
I have it and so far I love it!
I’m stuck between the medela freestyle handsfree and the spectra compact. Which one would you recommend to use as a main pump?
Depends on how much you’ll be pumping I think!
Can you possibly do a decibel test video for just the portable pumps?
Good idea!!
Do you have a video on cups? What about sound? I had a S9 before pumped on the plane, at meetings, etc.
I respond to the Super genie but don’t respond to the Genie advance. Was sure excited to use it with my stride cups so I could be more active with my kids.😢
Did you try it with only the cups or with regular flanges as well?
I wanna know which one is the quietest though
Hi, I’m a new subscriber since I’m a new pumping momma 😂 I wanna buy a third pump, because I don’t seem to get contented with my pumps, I’m looking for more ease of use
Try this video! th-cam.com/video/0eAVoS7H1aA/w-d-xo.html
Omg, yes! I'm searching for portable breastpump. Thank you for sharing
We’re going to talk more about all of this in our webinar next Monday if you want to join us!

Which one is the quietest??
Will use your video to train my staff! ;) -Patty
Sounds great! Send me a DM on Instagram or via email newlittlelife@gmail.com :)
@@NewLittleLife email sent!
Hi, Thanks for all your reviews and videos. I'm a first time and stay at home mom. Still undecided between Pumpables Genie Advanced and Medela Freestyle Flex. Would you be able to help me decide which one is better and most recommended for a first time mom?
Thank you in advance! ☺️
Both are good pumps, I personally prefer the genie advanced :) I have a coupon code for that on too if you need it!
@@NewLittleLife Thank you so
much! Really helpful! Would buy the Genie Advanced and use your coupon. ☺️ Stay safe!
Great topic ideas, thanks!
I’m so stuck between the Medela FreeStyle Flex and Freemie Independence! 😩
Any advice on which one?
Hi, I love your videos. I just can’t decide. I need serious help. I am debating in between spectra S1 and ameda mya or if there is another portable one that’s best.
DONT buy the ameda mya suction sucks and I starting have trouble getting it to turn on after 2 months.
I loved this video!!! It has helped me make a decision on which portable pump I want. Thank you for all of the great information.
@@NewLittleLife wonderful, ill take a look at that one. Thank you again for responding 🩷🧡❤️
Where would you say the zomee fit falls in here?
I've been looking for this answer too!
I do need to update this huh! Pumps just keep coming at such a rapid rate 😅 it’s hard to keep up
Zomee for me is somewhere in the middle. It’s a nice pump and definitely better than some of these options!
I’m out here using the ameda mya on suction level 1 😂 I guess you never know what will work for you
Totally! Actually, we have been able to get better results using the right flange kit set up. I’m glad you’ve made it work for you!! 💕
Would love an update with opera mom+ included!
I plan on getting Legendairy cups. Which portable pump would you recommend?
Out of curiosity, where would you rank the elvie stride on this list?
It’s pretty quiet! Both elbows are near the top.
Thank you!
I’m also in between those 2 which one did you decide on? And was it a good one?
@@briannadiamond3289 is the s9 comparable to the s2 in suction?
Where would you rate the Horigen pump amongst these?
Love to watch ur stuff, very organized and informative... can you please do something for the new elvie stride...?
Yes! There’s a video on Instagram if you want to see me check it out! I’ll get one on TH-cam very soon
Have you tried or reviewed the zoome Z2?
Can you help me pick a pump? I currently have the spectra S1 and I love it! I use the let down & then 54 cycle & 9-12 vacuum. I need a strong suction. I tried the freemie and it didn’t work for me, but I do use the cups with my spectra currently & I would love to ditch the tubing is there anything you recommend?
I showed up here between the Baby Buddha and the Pumpables Genie Advanced and I'm not any closer. Ahhh!! haha
Haha sorry! Try this 😉

Just ordered my Babybudha thanks to this review
How does the Legendairy Duette compare against these pumps?
Do you recommend motif luna or baby buddha
Do you recommend the Medela freestyle flex or the spectra S1?
