I watch this often and it never fails to make me smile. I remember sitting at home as a young lad watching it with my grandparents. The sun was splitting the stones outside.
Wonderful. Am a Dub but my Dad was from Leitrim and I had a cousin and a friend of a friend on the Leitrim team that day. They still talk about that weekend to this day. My mother made fry's on the sunday which saved many a Leitrim man's life. Happy days for sure...... Maith agat Seamus.
Grew up in and still live in Kildare but its a Leitrim Supporters club sticker thats on my car. Was 15 at the time of the match, was my first time in Croke Park. Amazing day in so many ways. The only noise that rivalled that day was Armagh beating the Dubs in the 2002 semi. Havent heard a noise to come close aprt from that to the noise that greeted the leitrim team that day, unbelieveble.
Great listening to this before training here in the UAE. It's far from leitrim but football's football. I remember staying at home with the grandparents that day, it was absolute scorcher. There wasn't too many left in drumcroman that day. I remember thinking the roads were quieter than usual that day.
Mighty stuff there Seamus. Returned from London for that weekend back in '94. You hit the nail on the head with your tale! Really really great. Well done!
You took your point as well as Darcy or McGarty ever did, Good Man, yersel' In Tuam Stadium that year I overheard a Leitrim man excitedly saying to his buddy "Jey, we'll get two days out with the team this year!"
Sums up nicely what its means to the followers of an underdog team who just enjoy "being there" and if they win? Eureka!! If they lose, they still enjoyed the occasion, what sport is supposed to be about!
From 4000+ miles away thank you 💓. Beautiful

Absolutely brilliantly written and delivered. Congrats Seamus, I enjoyed that immensely.
