It was a concept/new enemy that was gonna be in Halo 3 but was cut. I think it would've been terrifying! Fighting transformed vechicles where the drivers had been merged with the machinery and flood biomass, seeing even powerful vehicles like tanks rendered helpless driving up the tension and horror.
@@excelkaban2218 I have a theory. The original model is meant to stay there and the new model grows out of it to give the appearance of the body being taken over piecewise. But they accidentally forgot the original model, which just leaves the weird shrunken skeleton meant to be hidden away from sight underneath.
Basically, instead of turning into a vehicle piloted by combat forms, they just fuse into a biomechanical abomination. Reminds me of the Beast from Homeworld: Cataclysm.
If they can get rid of the t for teen rating they could bring them back but I doubt 343 would ever do that gotta chase that fortnite battle pass money...
I never got to play this DLC, but damn they made the Flood terrifying. Them being able to infect vehicles with the driver/gunner being lost under biomass, the constant shaking, and there’s also the bases too.

Honestly I’ll be gutted if Halo Infinite doesn’t have even a HINT of the flood, they’re such a significant part of the series and it’d be brilliant to see them unleashed for the first time in an FPS series since 2007
I really wish Halo Wars 2 had some of the old halo wars 1 flood forms like the infected grunts & Jackals and some of the infected or pure forms like the flood bombardier, the smasher form, the flying flood birds and the cloud of flood spores, and some of the flood buildings like the flood launcher, the flood colony, the flood cocoon or the flood hut.
Bro I love all of those except for the launcher, that thing was probably one of the most op things in HW1. I do kinda miss the Thrasher forms and the grunts though.
@@waffleboi9584 Indeed it was OP the flood launcher, but also it was a pretty cool form to make players fear the flood on RTS, especially when you see the flood cloud spores approaching your infantry units.
I saw someone's say that a nice reveal would be to have the Chief fighting the Prometheans, then suddenly they turn and start running in another direction, almost as though their directives have completely changed. When you run into them again, they're locked in combat against the Flood.
Also Halo Wars 1 had infected grunts, Jackals, the classical elites & brutes, the marines and flamethrowers and some kind of Hunter/native creature of the shield world(smasher form), the infected engineer/native creature of the shield world (flood bombardier) & the flying flood forms.
Might have been for balance reasons, so you don't lose a high ranking or valuable infantry unit because a single random unseen infection form showed up and sneezed... Which as true to lore as it is may be frustrating to fight.
When I played my entire playthrough of the DLC, none of the giant flood tentacles did anything. They just sat there doing nothing, leaving me to wonder why several characters told me repeatedly to focus on destroying them. I now realize that they're supposed to attack, but they just don't for some reason.

There actually is an infected scorpion model - I might have to revisit that, it didn’t change to the flood model because it was the flame scorpion that got infected
It looks like the infectors tend to fuse and form a giant biomass that infect and also consumes it's pilot, think about it like a mini gravemind for vehicles that just transforms their victims body into biomass when they get in the vehicle.
I believe that the vehicle infection forms infect the pilot of the vehicle, fuse the pilot inside of the vehicle and add/spread their own biomass to the vehicle. They wouldn't be able to driven unless the pilot was there due to the whole muscle memory thing the flood do to use weapons
Not gonna lie when watching some of these infection animations over and over the flood combat forms are very creepy like say for example the infected Elites the flood sensor tentacles grew right infront or next to the face
Kinda scary with the vehicle transformations how the drivers / pilots basically explode into those fleshy growths all over the vehicle rather than a combat form driving the vehicle
My best guess with the Brute buggy visuals is that it's rendering a model that is intended to be rendered inside of their initial model, but for some reason the latter isn't rendered at all... Curious that made it through development, I expect it would show up pretty readily in testing.
I think everything in the game should have a infected counterpart. Imagine how terrifying if you had your scarab doing something and it somehow got infected. That would be and look awesome. And if a base was attacked by the flood and destroyed, it should become a flood hive.

It is possible for a spartan to be infected, as in the book The Flood, Master Chief was attacked by one and it almost connected to his nervous system, compromising his armor. Cortana saved him by overloading his shield systems, which fried the flood form. Also, Halo 4's Flood gametype simulates an infected spartan

It's highly likely chief has the same immunity as johnson, given that it's believed that spartan-1s are immune(owing to Sgt. Johnson's immunity), and Spartan 2s are even more augmented than that.
I’m pretty sure Spartans can be infected. I hear that after the Events of Halo 3, the UNSC encountered the Flood on a few occasions, albeit in very small, easily contained outbreaks. In fact, I think ONI also came up with a set of protocols on what to do if a Spartan-IV ever got infected. (Protocols which basically boil down to nukes)

In the mod blue player 1 is green - unfortunately in the retail player 1 is either red or blue :/
You can only be different colors than red or blue if you’re playing multiplayer and you’re not one of the first two players in the game
