The Covenant fought for their religion. The Banished fight for themselves. I'd imagine Banished soldiers would switch sides to the UNSC if their life depended on it. At least until they have the opportunity to escape, though that would probably be followed up by doing something major to redeem themselves for their treachery and weakness before the Banished would take them back.
I hate how they downgraded some hijacking animations. Before for vehicles in hw1 like the scorpion and wraith the spartans did actually physically get in the vehicles and kick out the driver instead just teleporting in and with lightning partcicle effects to cover it
One of my favourite animations from the first Halo Wars was when a Spartan hijacked a Locust from the bottom and climbed up inside. It’s a shame the animations were downgraded for Wars 2
0:15 I wish the grunt just walked off sad instead of just getting replaced by a spartan. Also they really should've done it like HW1 where the Spartans actually pull out the driver in vehicles.

in halo wars 3, if its ever made, the hijack ability should be made to show them pulling out the driver, and it would just be a normal unit after its pulled out or there could be an upgrade to kill the driver and kill the passengers, and it would act like a garrison for 1 or 2 marines so the gunner seats could be used.

I love how the locust and blisterback stagger on the spot and how the jackrabbit, warthog and wolverine sorta skid around as well, also all the “hey! This is mine!” Lines are great too
In the Jackrabbit, the original driver looks like they have a screen they look at to see, when a Spartan takes it, they just look over the top. That reminds me a lot of the Ghosts in normal Halo lol

Does anyone know why the change was made from hw1 where the Spartan actually hijacked the vehicle, going in, and sometimes throwing out the elite or brute from the vehicle. Don’t know about if marines and such are or not
It's easier for sure but it could've been done for the sake of the animation glitching out or breaking making the unit unable to move, just a guess tho.

Also one of the animations that is broken but I didn’t show in the video is a locked down Kodiak. It’s interesting because the locked down Blisterback has a pretty unique sound effect - but the locked down kodiak is totally bugged!
This game is proof of how some aspects of game development have gotten worse over time. It's crazy how Halo Wars (that was released in 2009) actually has more detail than Halo Wars 2 released 7 years later. In Halo Wars, the spartan hijacking animation actually shows the Spartan breaking the door down and throwing the driver out. In the sequel, some lightning effect and the spartan magically appears inside the vehicle. Lol. The vehicles in Halo Wars 2 also look like shit. It's hard to discern one vehicle from another. In Halo Wars, you can tell just by a quick glance. The only good thing about Halo Wars 2 spartan hijacking is the distance they can hijack from. It does make the ability more effective compared to Halo Wars where you literally had to stand next to the vehicle to hijack it.
Wtf? Halo wars 2 vehicles are easy to tell apart and look amazing, I could barely tell who is who's team in the first game, all my friends have the same problem aswell
The Halo Wars 1 spartan hijack animations were much better than these. These spartan hijack animations in Halo Wars 2, I’m not sure if the developers were lazy, or they had lousy animation, or it was hard to replicate those hijack animations of spartans from Halo Wars 1.

I would have loved to have seen that when a vehicle is hijacked, once the animation is complete you see the pilot get flung out and then is killed
