Highlights became popular in the 60s but were almost exclusive for people of wealth and class. So unless Norma won a gift certificate to a high-end salon on a radio station contest, I don't think she'd have an entire FULL head highlight.
😂😂😂 see what you did there..now I want to go watch all the Kings movies with that "accent"..Storm of the Century immediately comes to mind... Needful Things...just to hear "main lander" ...poor Maine, lol
You guys save me from wasting my time on so many films. I liked the first movie and was going to give this one a try. Just from your pull quote, I know if I'm going to watch a movie or not 😂
Idea: What if, like Joseph was saying the community is trying to keep the cemetery a secret. Then a scientist hears about it, steals a sample of the soil from the cemetery to study it and grows plants from it that make people immortal
"Oh....well, sorry girl I didn't like this movie..." "We're going to talk about her hair in a minute." I'm not calling him David Duchovny....he is Mulder....and this film is an X-File so throw an X on it and put it in the trash.
I totally agree w u guys, but i actually liked this movie. I thought the setting and cinematography was awesome. But boy did it kinda spiral towards the end. It seemed like there were scenes cut.
I laughed way too hard at this bc I got to thinking: Hey Jed, you big dummy, you witnessed a whole zombie uprising and then 20 years later tell your new neighbor, that you just met, not to bury dead things up there bc it'll have dire consequences. 😂 Maybe try & not mention it at all! This was the second King book I read after Cujo and I was 10. The only person in the entire novel with any sense is Victor Pascow the deceased ghost. Great novel but geez it's still frustrating.
I thought this could have been good -- and that there could have been other Pet Sematary movies in different generations because the evil that’s there manifests from time to time. The chapter in the book is really super scary. It could have been a good and fully contained zombie movie where the suspense rests in who survives even though we know that the resurrected thing has to be destroyed.
Another big disappointment! I had so much hope for this movie! I thought it would get into the lore behind the it, the wendigo. The book just lightly implies the lore, hinting that the soil in this spriritual place soured as more settlers moved in killing and forcing the indigenous people out, but even more criminal(to the wendigo) over hunting and the deforestation that came with the settlers. The wendigo tales natives tell are often told as warnings of greed, selfishness and over consumption, especially as it relates to nature and the environment. It made sense in the book, because it kinda centered around the fact that the town and then the major interstate highway was smack in the middle of what was a sacred spiritual place, and the wendigo lay in wait to possess some dummy that takes the bate. As an indigenous person, I always wanted more of that story since it was only hinted at and not even expressly stated in the book, and I always felt there was so much more there because of the lore of the wendigo. I feel like once again, a missed opportunity to tell a truly original.
So I took it as Timmy having hung himself after he got back from the war, because you can see the ligature mark around his neck when the bandana comes off. I was hoping the dead characters would have been creepier when they came back to life.
New to the channel and I must say you all are delightful!!! This movie is a big steaming pile of hot Chinatown garbage though. Love the book, love the OG movie and this nightmare just pooped all over it. Also completely lacking in emotional connections or depth. Pam Grier was the only ray of sunshine in this abysmal mess. This director needs to check herself. She even took a perfect mythology and decided she was gonna change it which makes everything in the 80s movie make no sense. Judd would never have had Louis bury the cat in the burial ground. Just saying. Could not rate this movie low enough. But hey, at least it lead me to your channel! 🤗
I thought this movie was ok. It wasn't the heart wrenching exploration of grief the first movie is, but it was alright. I would have liked to see more backstory about how the burial ground became sour.
My opinion that this movie not a remake it’s a back story before the creed of the 1987 Stephen king but the 2019 pet sematary is a remake to the 1987 version that’s what I don’t understand people don’t get an say oh this oh that well it’s very enjoyable and good
This is such a stupid thing to say but the pic of the dog in the background makes it look like the dog is standing on its back legs & has really bad posture 😂
Then why would Jude tell Louis about the Cemetery in the first place in the original? Knowing what happens when you bury there like it just doesn’t make sense another disappointment
I come here because your review is going to be the only entertaining thing about this movie. About the period, Jude was so old in the eighties' movie, that this one should have been set in the fifties, not the sixties. It does not feel like the sixties either. Everyone looks too modern. I thought we were going to get Jude´s childhood experience of burying his dog in the sematary, and one zombie neighbor. One. That was a good story, within the book.
It feels like whoever wrote this script never actually read or understood the book. As a King fan and lifelong Pet Semetary fan, I was disappointed and honestly kinda mad. They had such an opportunity to tell an interesting story that could have enhanced the lore without completely changing the story and they blew it.
I was going to watch this because I love the novel and all films if I. Being honest. But the trailer for this new one totally kills Pam Grier in the trailer. Idk if that happens for real but it just totally left a bad taste in my mouth because I love Pam Grier.
David Duchovny clearly didn’t learn his lesson from the awful The Craft reboot/monstrosity. Get that bag, but maybe stop doing crappy creatively-devoid reboots, David!
the thing i dont like its that its not lore accurate at all, jude burried his dog spot when he was 10 and came back, stanny b told him and showed him about the pet sematary. the timeline is so dumb, if jude is like 25 in 1969, how can he get 50 years older in 10 years? timmy batterman died in ww2 not vietnam and jude was born 1900 on the dot, AND NO ONE IN THIS FILM HAS A MAINE ACCENT. i could go on and on edit: ALSO JUDE DID TIME IN WAR, he didnt go overseas but he did enlist during ww2.
Was it just me, or was it heavily implied that Manny was in love with Jud? Didn't care for this movie at all but I thought the scene with Norma and Donna in the hospital was legitimately creepy with lots of tension. It's unfortunate that the payoff to that scene which we don't see makes no sense. Why didn't Donna kill her? The other scene that sort of worked for me was when Norma gets attacked by the dog (funny that she's featured in all the best moments). The rest of the movie was just plain ridiculous. These people are targeted for death at the start yet we have to wait nearly the rest of the movie to see them die in such ignoble ways. Another positive is that Jackson White is apparently aging very well. Didn't recognize him at all.
Im sick of this remake/prequel culture. I gave it a chance due to the actors and my love for the King lore. This is legit getting outta hand. Almost drowned in the tub due to how horrible this movie was. 😮💨
You guy's are a crack up, you should stretch your reviews to 30 minutes even if the movies are bad like this one was and just my thought's regarding this movie the acting was pretty bad, I struggled to get to the end and by the hour mark was hoping their were twenty minutes of credit's!!
The movie was a 6/10 for the first 2/3s and the last 1/3 was a 4/10. The characters got so stupid and too predictable. This movie is everything wrong with modern horror movies. Too predictable, no suspense, stupid characters. You said it best by saying a bland cash grab.
It was just ridiculous. Like after all that with Timmy and Donna and the dog biting Norma. His dad dying at the hands of dead donna. Why some 50 odd years later would Jud damn Louis to the same fate by introducing him to the m’kmak??? It made no sense to me.
Actually in the original it was Jud dog he brought back when he was a kid. First mistake made 2 one the guy was old when he brought his son back and him and his son died when the house was set on fire by the residents
My imaginary pull quote for this movie is "If this franchise was an animal it would be a dead horse that the filmmakers keep beating" 😂
"we'll talk about Norma's hair in a minute" 😂
Nothing makes me happier than when Joseph says, we're gonna talk about her hair in a minute"
Saaaaame!
That dog done-went and got the rabies!!😂😂🙄😳
Watch this hack director come up with a Cujo: The Early Years prequel
I'm from Ludlow, Massachusetts. Pet Semetary was the first book I ever read from cover to cover at 8yrs old.
That’s so kool!
Joseph, your pull-quotes just keep getting better! You outdo yourself with each read hidden in there 😂
Love the channel and thanks for the review - lol on hoping that Pam Grier got a nice paycheck portraying Margie!
Highlights became popular in the 60s but were almost exclusive for people of wealth and class. So unless Norma won a gift certificate to a high-end salon on a radio station contest, I don't think she'd have an entire FULL head highlight.
‘I don’t even have any notes I’m just trying to find something to say.’ -Joseph, I’m ☠️
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But if they buried the prequel in the pet sematary...it would just come back Even Worse!
True but I was thinking it might be more creepy
I saw original film back in the 90s…I guess. Sometimes… deeaad is betta… classic line.
😂😂😂 see what you did there..now I want to go watch all the Kings movies with that "accent"..Storm of the Century immediately comes to mind... Needful Things...just to hear "main lander" ...poor Maine, lol
@@tigerlilly9038 oh man that’s so good… those mini series were great.
Exactly what I was thinking. Dude was the judge in My Cousin Vinny, amongst tons of other tv shows and films.
the thumbnail looks like that sun bear we thought was a human in a suit. Two legs bad, four legs good situation 😂😂😂#ripOGwinstonchurchillthecat
You guys save me from wasting my time on so many films. I liked the first movie and was going to give this one a try. Just from your pull quote, I know if I'm going to watch a movie or not 😂
“Well sry girl I didn’t like this movie” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Handsome?! 😂 Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don't. And that's just fine.
I know I was like that guy is NOT handsome
Did Joseph just do a South Park "Timmee!!" ?
Yes, I did.
It's in the movie too 😏
Joseph's pull quote was awesome!!! You're getting really good at those!!!
Joseph's pull quote omg💀... wait... don't put the movie in the pet sematary, it's gonna come back even worse😩
ya know.......... maybe we actually don't want this movie buried in the semetary, it'll come back AGAIN even worse 😭😭😭
Idea: What if, like Joseph was saying the community is trying to keep the cemetery a secret. Then a scientist hears about it, steals a sample of the soil from the cemetery to study it and grows plants from it that make people immortal
Hmmm, I like the concept!
"Oh....well, sorry girl I didn't like this movie..."
"We're going to talk about her hair in a minute."
I'm not calling him David Duchovny....he is Mulder....and this film is an X-File so throw an X on it and put it in the trash.
I'm glad you all posted this bc I damn sure can't make it through this movie.
I totally agree w u guys, but i actually liked this movie. I thought the setting and cinematography was awesome. But boy did it kinda spiral towards the end. It seemed like there were scenes cut.
I found myself liking this pet semetary version way better then others
The original one is the only one
I laughed way too hard at this bc I got to thinking: Hey Jed, you big dummy, you witnessed a whole zombie uprising and then 20 years later tell your new neighbor, that you just met, not to bury dead things up there bc it'll have dire consequences. 😂 Maybe try & not mention it at all! I got lucky and just found ya'll. I really am enjoying your shows, thanks.
Omgeeee aren’t they the best?! I almost envy u cuz now u have so much content to binge! Welcome to the fam🥰✌️
Funny you should say that because I have been doing just that since yesterday after finding them.😄@@ninalove3044

Never finished part 2, did not bother with the remake. Love the first ❤
Is this a third one?! Crazy!
They really should do a movie about the origins of the Indian burial ground. It would be really interesting
So I took it as Timmy having hung himself after he got back from the war, because you can see the ligature mark around his neck when the bandana comes off. I was hoping the dead characters would have been creepier when they came back to life.

Sometimes, dead is better.
Okay I would be upset if I spent money to go see the theater. For a streaming movie it wasn't that bad.
I love these raw reviews lol
I always thought they hate coming back as the living hence the saying sometime dead is better.
I thought this movie was ok. It wasn't the heart wrenching exploration of grief the first movie is, but it was alright. I would have liked to see more backstory about how the burial ground became sour.
Great video! 🎉

I thought it was a dog with no back legs, I can’t stop looking at it either
Then why would Jude tell Louis about the Cemetery in the first place in the original? Knowing what happens when you bury there like it just doesn’t make sense another disappointment
Because the Wendigo makes him. He doesn't know it, but he's under it's influence.
Another one? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Thanks!
Thank you!
Dang it I was hoping they went more into the Wendigo part of the story.
That's probably the next Pet Sematary movie in a couple of years
I come here because your review is going to be the only entertaining thing about this movie. About the period, Jude was so old in the eighties' movie, that this one should have been set in the fifties, not the sixties. It does not feel like the sixties either. Everyone looks too modern. Yea this didn’t do it for me
Meh
Just putting out movies to put out movies
That's a nepo baby! Katey segal's son. If y'all say it later in the video sorry lol
Pet sematary:Bloodlines ignores the 1989 and 1992 movie. Bloodlines is a direct Prequel to the 2019 version with John Lithgow
I don't watch movies anymore. I just watch spoiler reviews. 😆
What's up with the direction moms leg.
The pull-quotes are perfect.
The review is on point 🎯 .
This Pet Sematary movie is terrible.
Its not based on stepen kings pet sematary, its based off the 2019 adaptation not kings and it makes more sense when you realize that.
What are some underrated horror movies to watch this month?
I just watched Barbarian and it was really good
It feels like whoever wrote this script never actually read or understood the book. As a King fan and lifelong Pet Semetary fan, I was disappointed and honestly kinda mad. Does Nick ever mention handsome men? 😅🤣😂

The 2019 remake was godawful. If they followed the book at all this prequel would be even more unnecessary.
Was it just me, or was it heavily implied that Manny was in love with Jud?

I thought the same about Manny.
Ouch guys lmfao!
I didn't really like it too much either
1674? Wow!
Im sick of this remake/prequel culture. I gave it a chance due to the actors and my love for the King lore. This is legit getting outta hand. Almost drowned in the tub due to how horrible this movie was. 😮💨
TIMMAY!
geh doods this was a preual to the remake ah doy doy
U 100% miss it. He came back from the war and hung himself
I thought the movie was decent after a few puffs of Marijuana lol
But if they made pet sematary ludlow bck with the Indians an patriots of 1800s I’d watch it if they can come up with that ideas ideas
You guy's are a crack up, you should stretch your reviews to 30 minutes even if the movies are bad like this one was and just my thought's regarding this movie the acting was pretty bad, I struggled to get to the end and by the hour mark was hoping their were twenty minutes of credit's!!

"Firestarter is the Exorcist writer."
No. Firestarter is King, Exorcist is William Peter Blatty.
Apart from that, great review!
Theyre talking about the film writer for the new movies, not the novels 😊
Tim-mehh😂
This movie pissed me off so much with all the dumb shit that happened. Didn't enjoy it, just left with a headache.
😳😂🤣
This movie is garbage il give it a 3 star
It was just ridiculous. Like after all that with Timmy and Donna and the dog biting Norma. His dad dying at the hands of dead donna. Why some 50 odd years later would Jud damn Louis to the same fate by introducing him to the m’kmak??? It made no sense to me.

I’m so loving the fact that you two are doing reviews on all the upcoming horror films that I want to watch. 🫶🏾🫶🏾
